Room very dusty, breakfast area smelling so bad we couldn't stay and eat. Even if it's cheap, it's not worth the money!

The personal was wery helpful and nice. Every one spoke good english. You have too travel by train or bus to get to Pisa, but the train station and bus stops were not far from the hotel, so that was not a problem. The hotel was in a nice little town, and it wasnt too long to travel to Pisa or Lucca. Overal a good hotel if youre demands are'nt to big..

We stayed at the hotel Granduca for two nights and found it to be ok, just (we paid €118.00 with breakfast). It is well situated between Pisa (4Km) and Luca (8Km), in a pleasant and quite village not far from both places mentioned. The hotel is fairly basic, in need of updating and some of the public areas are somewhat run down specially the toilets which weren’t clean, the breakfast was satisfactory. I woul not describe this hotel as a 4*.

2 nights with 32° Celsius in the room (Dysfunction of climatisation in all rooms), a group of very noisy young people, busy until morning and - because of the open windows - a lot of mosquitos in the room.

Reception staff were very helpful however kitchen staff/breakfast staff were noisy, rude and unhelpful. Breakfast is extremely poor quality: with diluted squash for orange juice, very bad coffee, no fresh fruit and stale bread. When the breakfast staff were asked to make a cup of coffee from the coffee machine I was told no as they were out of coffee. When I went to the main reception bar to get a cup of coffee she argued with the reception staff that they should not be giving me coffee?! Air condition in rooms did not work and neither did the telephones. The promised bottle of water was no where to be found. One of the worst stays in a hotel we have ever had.

The hotel is rated as a four star which definitelly is not the case (I would say three stars). The restaurant seems more like a canteen than the hotel restaurant. The hall and corridors are decorated with horrible works of a local artist that blended famous art works (imagine Mona Lisa + Dame with an Ermine = Mona Lisa holding an Ermine).

The air-conditioning didn't work, it was like a sauna in the room. when we told reception they just shrugged and said yeah we know. The place may have been 4 star in 1980 but it is so run down in is barely a 2. Do not recommend unless you really are desparate.

We arrived late at the hotel, but the reception was very kind and although it was kitchen closing time, they still prepared us dinner with the best mood. The rooms were very spacious and although we didn't stay much long, all the services (including breakfast) were very good.

Very good relationship between price and quality. The hotel has a large number of rooms and is therefore available for groups. This can make the hotel, in spring or summer, not so quiet as in winter. An advice for travellers who are visiting this hotel for the first time is to make sure how to reach the location. In any case the center of Pisa is easily reachable from the hotel.

I booked for 3 nights, wanting to take advantage of the "terme", the thermal waters, not realizing that the Granduca is virtually a huge motel-type conference centre in the middle of nowhere. The "baths" are actually located in the "Wellness Centre" of the hotel on the other side of the highway, and are spooky, 19th cent actual bathrooms, with just an ancient bathtub in which you sit for the allotted time - BORING!!! The staff at Granduca weren't helpful or friendly and gave me incorrect advice about transport on 2 occasions - didn't seem to have a clue and cared even less. BE WARNED: there is NOTHING else there - just a tiny piazza with a few odd shops with the usual odd opening hours. The only other guests were 2 huge groups - one of elderly Italians and 1 of Italian men - and a sprinkling of passers-through. Hotel restaurant is v expensive and has the same limited menu every day for a week - and you can't get anything to eat outside its limited hours.

Our room was a former smoking room and as you probably can imagine you could smell it after a while (they are using enormous amounts of parfume but that does not help). The rooms and their equipment are from the 70's, no special hotel services are available, internet only against payment (3€/hour, in a **** place??). All in all the Granduca is just an expensive *** (3) star hotel, not more. The village is quite ok, providing a pizzeria and a gelateria. Another good thing is that you are fast in Pisa and Lucca.

Great in overall. Maybe a bit expensive for the service provided. This hotel is huge, so don't expect a cosy and custom atmosphere..

Very disappointed - the only poor hotel during our 14 day stay in a number of places in Italy. Bathrooms dirty and we even saw mice running along the corridor. Didn't bother taking breakfast. Outside shabby and grounds unkept.
