Hotel Iris - Perugia

There isn't an elevator so we would recommend a backpacker stay here, the staff leaves at midnight so you'll need a key if you return late and the room smelled musty.

It was first time i stayed in perugia and the hotel was good, quite big room with toilet and shower, good staff for good price :) i reccomend it to stay :)

The Hotel is a ** in a good position (5 minutes walking from City Center). The main problem is that it's an old building and the owner is making works to update it without informing you. We stayed in a room with not all fornitures: some lamps were missing, as the bedside tables and the handle of the bathroom door. Breakfast adequate to the rating (no fresh products). Good only if you need to sleep for a maximum of a couple of nights in Perugia. Maybe when works will be finished it could be considered for a higher rating.

It was a humid summer when I lived there. The room is also kind of damp. The stuffs were very friendly.The hostal iteslf is very special.

What a beautiful introduction to Perugia. This delightful Hotel was exactly as described. A 10 Euro taxi ride from the Railway Station, and close to the escalator which takes you up to the town, Restaurant Iris next door to the Hotel is very reasonable and does excellent food.

Hotel Iris is a great hotel for those travelling on a budget, but looking for historic charm and a warm welcome. The friendly staff patiently allowed us to try out our Italian. It was quiet, but near enough to the centre of Perugia for walking everywhere to be easy. The downsides were: ants on the bedroom floor, having to pay with cash because the machine was broken and not having a kettle in our room. I would still recommend it though. The photo's on here don't do the hotel justice!

A bit out of the way. Comfortable bed and room. However shower left a bit to be desired as we had a flood!

Although an older-styled hotel, its facilities were good but the most impressive aspect was the extremely helpful receptionist who, if she was unable to answer our enquiries immediately, would seek our the information. Nothing seemed a trouble to her. Her local advice proved invaluable.

Awesome location - just a few minutes walk (up escalators) to the central piazza in Perugia. The building/rooms are decent although there is trash around the area (like an old washing machine just sitting outside our door) and the security is ample, although the outside doors were never locked when we came back at night (around 1 or 2). Since it may be hard to locate, just take a bus to Tre Archi (Porta S. Croce) and look up for a cheesy neon "Hotel Iris" sign. The entrance is up a flight of stairs facing the arches. The building is pretty old and kind of falling apart but everything worked and it was very pleasant. The double bed is just 2 single beds pushed together, which seems to be pretty common in Italy. Also, the shower sprayed water all over the floor since the curtain was too small. The only drawback was that the employees were a bit slow. They asked us what we wanted to drink for breakfast (coffee/cappuccino) and twice they brought our drinks to the wrong people. Also, when trying to use my visa card, the cc machine insisted I use a PIN (I don't use one) and the desk assistant couldn't figure out how to run it through without one. The breakfast is cheap and simple but good and better than many places in Italy.

The hotel is an old building that needs repair. But it's clean and easy to find. I would return.
