We stayed in this hotel within 05-06.2008.This hotel is located in the old building raised in 16th century. There is lift there. The interior design of the room is very original and considered; you can feel yourself being in 19th century. The view from the window is very nice. The hotel has own locking car parking. The escalator which is situated in the distance of 100 meters from the hotel will bring you to the historical center of the town. We can recommend this comfortable and beautiful hotel for staying.

Generally this hotel was as described, it was comfortable and we had a pleasant stay. It is also excellent value if you want somewhere at the cheaper end of what is available. However, n the Venere pages it says that there is a bar but there is none. It also says that tea and coffee making facilities are in all rooms. This was definitely the case in our room. Normally this would not be a problem but as our daughter was sick one evening we did not wish to go out for a coffee and missed these facilities. Some of this was slightly offset by there being a vending machine in the entrance hall where we could buy bottled water but the hot drinks parts of this machine was out of order and not fixed in the 5 days when we were there. As is often the case in hotels we have stayed at the hair dryer was broken (the hose was split so that the hot air either didn't get to the hair or burnt one's hand holding it together). Apart from these things the room was good with a great view from one window (with swifts swooping in to try to make a nest at the top of the outside window fame), the bathroom reasonably spacious, the staff generally helpful and friendly, the off-street parking (at extra cost )very useful as we had hired a car. The location by the escalators was good and there were both a cheap restaurant and an excellent one serving local dishes not far away. The breakfast was about average although the fruit juice ran out one norning and there seemed to be no-one on hand to refill it. A note about arrival by car: Perugia does not tend to have very visible street signs so follow the suggestions on the web site about where to turn off for Perugia and get someone to look for Parking Europa and/or Piscine Pompeo Pellini and you should eventually see a sign for the hotel.

Whilst I had not expected too much of this hotel, based on the cost and average reviews, I was unpleasantly surprised to find that, once inside, the hotel was shabby, musty and in need of a good clean. The photos on the website bore no resemblance to the room we were allocated (22). The tile floors were dirty and the furniture, far from being "period" was simply old and dusty. The wallpaper was peeling in parts, and the room had clearly not been decorated for many years. The bathroom was very basic and the shower mildewed. I was also disappointed in the location. Whilst its proximity to the main part of the old town is indicated, via an escalator, it was much further than I expected, down some dark and quiet streets - not the best location. On the plus side, the bedding and the porcelainware in the bathroom were clean, and the breakfast provided was a reasonable variety of items. However, I would not recommend this hotel - spend a little more and get one in a better part of town

The hotel is in a great location, close to the old centre of Perugia. Our room was at the side; rooms at the front may have been noisy as it is on a mian road. The room was not as bright as in the photos on the website, while the 'art deco' furniture was simply old rather than stylish as the name implies. It advertised tea and coffee making facilities, but the kettle barely heated the water; we had precisely 3 teabags during our 3 day stay, for 3 people; and there were 3 disposable cups. But, breakfast was good for Italy(apart from lukewarm tea again). The hotel was certainly clean and cheap, with free secure parking, and in a good location; we would consider staying there again.

The hotel is on a somewhat busy street (save 10 Euros on a taxi and take a bus from the train station that goes right by the hotel) but the location and price are great if you don't feel you have to be located within the historic center city. The hotel is situated across the street from the escalators that take people upward into the old city [or down towards, but not near, the train station] so in a just a few minutes you are in the heart of the old town.

Lovely old hotel. Rooms spacious by European standards; very clean. On a busy street, but location great..very near escaltor to old city. Security at hotel very tight..many keys to get in. Great breakfast. Only negative is that it is a non-smoking hotel, which is not listed on website; as a smoker I had to go outside (MANY keys). Still, it is a beautiful antique property & very convenient location.

More a pension or bed&breakfast than a Hotel, occupying a stage of a beautiful building very well situated for easily accessing the old town of Perugia with the "scala mobile". We had a room with a nice view and keeping some fin de siecle flavor. The price of 65 euros including breakfast seemed very reasonable compared with other outrageous prices of Hotels we experienced during our trip. The service provided by a single gentleman was excellent, a very kind and helpful person. The breakfast buffet in a rather limited space was an example of good service and ingineous way of optimizing the space, and the breakfast offered was excellent.

Dr. Marie-Louise Frei

Convenient location to the escalators to the center of the city. Very charming room with balcony and friendly service. Went out of their way to make me feel better as they knew I was sick. Great value.

Europa is great & just down the hill from the town center by escalator! Clean, quiet, amazing views, good breakfast, awesome staff. What more could I want? I hope others go there and spread the word. It was so easy by bus from the train station too. Be sure to call the Europa and ask which one as you have to transfer once.

Not easy to get to from the railway station unless you know which bus to catch. Bus stops outside hotel but I can't remember which number is required! Not located in the centre of Perugia but the main square is readily accessible if you are prepared for a bit of an uphill walk (after ascending an escalator ).

Although it seems to be little far from the city center, but it is very easy to access the hotel. Quality vs. Price is excellent.

Hotel Europa is housed in a splendid Jugendstil palazzo. The rooms are pleasantly furnished and comfortable. Several of them have balconies. The breakfast arrangements are perfectly adequate. The bus-stops immediately outside the door give easy access to both the city centre and the railway station. The nearby escalator carries the less energetic to the nearest restaurants and shops. For this visitor Hotel Europa is henceforth thee place to stay in Perugia!

This hotel represents the best value for money I've ever experienced. A beautiful building, huge room with great view and good breakfast. The location next to the escalators into the centro storico was very convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Europa is not very comfortable but acceptable and very affordable. It is located next to an elevator bringing one to the centre of Perugia. I think in its price range Europa is OK

We arrived at night and had a bit of difficulty finding the hotel. I think we eventually took a number 6 bus. Liked the hotel and staff and the help-yourself breakfast. Nice large room

Was so pleased with the Europa I spent all but one night of my total stay in Perugia (10 days)there. The only reason I didn't stay the one night was that they had been booked previously. But the owner, Jacko, arranged for me to have a room at his sister's B&B one floor above my room!! Great location, very clean rooms and all questions answered. I was alone so room was perfect for just one--too small for a couple staying any length of time.

Place was fantastic value and staff we had contact with were great. Only problem was our lack of Italian and not being able to tell the cleaning lady that we would prefer a sleep in to clean towels each morning!

We were disappointed that the hotel was OLD (the description as Art Nuveau was misleading, I think!)and located on a noisy street. We had to keep the window open, since there was no a/c and no fan, and temperatures were over 35C. Thus, the noise and mosquitos came right in! I would definitely not stay here again. In the summer, I would always stay in a/c rooms! The breakfast was good, and staff pleasant.

I would not come back here, and I am used to budget hotels. The price was right...it is decently close to town (5-10 minute walk). The major problems were 1) that there wasn't even a FAN let alone A/C in the rooms (why have a TV but not a fan?)2) The whole place smelled heavily of unbearable air freshener and 3) the desk/common room area was usually locked up an unmanned...if you needed something you had to call the owner...there was no one sitting at the front desk. This made a difference compared to other hotels, as it felt a lot less friendly.

Value for money room was adequate. Location was excellent just opposite car park, which I had to pay for, and near to the rail to the top of the old city. Hotel was difficult to find - need to get clear directions! Breakfast choice was poor

Positive comments first ...Travelling by car :easy access and parking . Perfect location to visit the (beautiful !) city. Don't be afraid to go in wintertime : heating works pretty well. Nice people, building full of charm. Negative comments : no heating in the bathroom, very noisy fan and some effects of a bad ventilation on the walls. Not enough to ruin the excellent general impression and the high value for money ratio.

Budget accommodation in Europe is either something not for the faint-hearted or a standard 'out of the box' multi-national The Europa is a refreshing change in a prime location. Rooms are quaint and historical with an atmosphere reminicent of an aged apartment block. High ceilings, solid furniture and tiled floors lend a Thirties style to the decor and the wooden shutters and full windows add to the ambiance. An excellent little hotel that I would heartily recommend. An added bonus was the buffet breakfast of rolls, croissant and coffee available from 8am to 10am. Nothing too great, but just right - a little like the hotel itself.

Very helpful English speaking staff. Pretty good location for the money (outside the old city center but close to the scala mobile that takes you there). Overall, the building has seen better days, however, and is badly overdue for an update. There is no lounge area to sit and read Other than a filthy sofa just inside the main door. Still and all not a bad choice if you are traveling on a budget.

Hotel Europa is a typical small Italian hotel. Our room was large with a nice view of the countryside from a balcony. The bath was small, but clean. The general rooms are nothing to speak of. The location was very convenient to the center the old city and parking was also convenient. The furnishings were old, but in good condition. The hotel has charm. It's a great deal for the price.
