Hotel Anna - Perugia

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Albergo Anna. Located in the heart of the city of Perugia, it is convenient to walk to wherever you need to be in Perugia. The town central, main piazza, bus station, train station are all within walking distance. Many wonderful restaurants featuring local specialties and a great gelateria, just a short walk from this hotel. Albergo Anna is on the third floor of one of Perugia's 600-year-old buildings, like walking into the medievel and Rennaisance days of Italy. The building has no elevator but its charm and comfort made our daily climb up 3 flights of stairs worth the climb. A plentiful continental breakfast was a special treat everyday served by our host and hostess. I would love to go back to Albergo Anna and would recommend it to others.

If the woman who spoke English had been around during check out we would have asked for our money back. I can only speak for the room we stayed in: it was a dump. Had it not be for extraneous circumstances, we would have walked out after viewing the room. We only stayed one night.

A late 70ies simple hotel stopped in time. PROS: you feel at home (maybe a little too much though!) since the friendly elderly couple who runs the property seems to live there also (just don't disturb them at meal times and they keep being friendly!); it's a historical building from XV-XVI century, very well located in the old old city, near the brand-new-worth-a-ride MiniMetrò; you get the keys of the front door, so no problem coming and going. CONS: costs a lot for a ** hotel; we stayed at room nº1 (try to avoid it, although I didn't see the others) and its bathroom is a disaster, extremely small and the shower drain was clogged, causing a real flood each time you take a shower, and water changed from freezing to boiling in a matter of miliseconds; also, despite of the double doors, and since it is the first room near the entrance, there was considerable noise of people coming in and out and talking loud to the reception; long yet comfortable stairs, not indicated for people who can't climb them of with lots of luggage. OTHER: Breakfast is ok, in their kitchen, with a nice "Perugina" chocolate bonus! and although the staff is welcoming, don't expect more info from them than getting a plan of the city or borrowing a guide (I mean, anything that comes from the internet, like train timeschedules, should be taken with you...).

Ambiente familiare e confortevole palazzo e atmosfera in stile antico. Zona eccellente.
