GREAT experience, I warmly recommend it! positive points include: a marvelous breakfast with all you can dream about concering chocolate (but also some salty things, in case you need them...), a nice swimming pool on the roof (a must when you have 40 degrees outside....) of only 100cm depth but very fresh and big enough to enjoy, a free parking, nice decorations of the rooms (if you like dark chocolate I recommend fourth floor, if you prefer white then ask for first floor, the rest is for milk chocolate lovers...) and a nice welcoming with a kind of chocolate associated to your floor/room! there is also a nice restaurant, where the only criticism I could do is that the "chocomenu" never changes. but you have plenty of other dishes and the price is absolutely ok!

Many advantages to staying at the hotel but the poor quality of the air conditioning during the hot summer months was disappointing. Fun for the kids and the breakfasts were amazing.

The bus service to the old town center was perfect, the location to a laundry matt and a super market were great. The swimming pool deck was a great amenity. All in all a great stay, and the offered free chocolate. This is a perfect choice for travelers by train although its a bit of a trek from the station...we took a cab.

Very nice hotel. The employee welcomed us with a chocolate bar. The room was extremely clean. pretty far from the center, but we knew it. It takes many escalators to arrive uptown, and get ready to walk back to the hotel after midnight!

Albergo molto carino a tema cioccolato. Buon punto di partenza per escursioni nei dintorni di Perugia (non si trova in centro). Manca il salato nella colazione pero' ci sono molto dolci. Il ristorante e' ottimo e si mangia davvero bene (provate la torta eurochocolate!).

We were expecting a little more from the place. As bad luck would have it the AC was broken and that required the windows be open. Although we were on the 4th floor, it sounded like we were on the highway. The road was busy most of the night and early in the morning. The candy bar we were given was little comfort for the hassles endured. The breakfast was very nice and the chocolate store was really cute as pictured. Will not be returning.

I was - besides a guest also a Belgian(incognito)design journalist.Very pos.points for the concept+ friendly-hulpfull staff + spacious-clean rooms (booked a single room -got a double one:50E, breakf.incl/august)+ for the refreshing swimming pool. Furthermore hotel at walking distance from railway station + at 25 min walk from historical center(but enjoyed it). Perugians friends recommended it. I do also. Neg.: carpets in rooms for allergic patients.

For a tourist, the Chocohotel's greatest strength is convenient and very easy to find access to the highways and free parking. It is not in the historic center, which means it is at the bottom of the hilltop city where the plains begin. There is not much of interest for the tourist in the immediate area surrounding the hotel. However, there are numerous busses which run continually to the historic center on the hilltop which is some distance away. Although one usually seeks historic and charming hotels when visiting Italy, it was a pleasant change to have a modern spacious room with a lovely rooftop pool with a magnificent view of the surrounding valleys. It was an easy 20 minute drive to Lake Trasimeno which is a local resort spot with good restaurants and boat tours to the islands in the lake.

We were disappointed in the location. On venere, and on the hotel's website, it makes it sound like it is a 5 minute walk to the center. we're big walkers, and it isn't easy because it is about 20-30 minutes up very big hills. The hotel is clueless and tells you to drive to the center - which is a nightmare in any hill town, even a larer placelike Perugia We were on a front room, next to a busy street - too loud. What drove me most crazy was that I asked if they had an iron that I could use, because my clothes were wrinkled after a lot of traveling. They told me I'd have to wait until tomorrow morning, and then when I asked the next morning, they said they don't give out irons. Why lie to me then? I've had this happen before it Italy - it is infuriating - they say it's the law, but then many other hotels let you use one. Then they want to charge you a ridiculous amount to iron your clothes. Also I left a pair of shoes next to the pool and someone took them, almost immediately! The pool was great though, and the breakfast was good as well. Some people that worked there were nice while others were clueless.

The absolute best with this hotel is the pool and garden on the rooftop, a real treat. The hotel is located on a busy street opposite a gasstation and if you want to walk to Perugia citycenter you have to walk up a very, very steep hill (you can catch a bus). Restaurant not more than ok, the same with breakfast.

The room I had was on a main road so it was very noise. The scenery was not very pleasant unless you looked past the gas station right infront of the hotel. A bus stop was right there infront of the hotel so that was easy. However, to take a taxi got expensive. The hotel was also outside the center of town so you could not walk there. However, the food at breakfast was very good. There was a big assortment of foods and drinks. The room was comfortable and clean. The lobby was spacious and lively at night. The staff was very helpful with questions I had.

Hotel perfectly corresponds to web page description. You can enjoy the place even without a car:it is very close to the railway station, however there is no actual sidewalk between them. City center in walking distance, but it is a very steep walk. anyway, everything is steep in perugia! The chocolate theme is nice and unusual for an Italian hotel. Staff very welcoming and competent. They printed us bus timetables and gave advice about the city. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

A nice place, with a very enjoyable chocolate-oriented characterisation. Wonderful breakfast with huge choice of many chocolate-based items.. slurp! The only drawbacks are: 1) the noise coming from the road, which has plenty of traffic even during the night (despite the double-glass windows); 2) the position - you do need a car to reach Perugia city centre. I had it, so no problem, but if you are by train of plane, check the hotel location with respect to the availability of public transportation.

This is a silly place. The chocolate theme was silly and the room themes are silly. It's also a bit out of the way and the bus service isn't as regular as one would like--especially at night. It was a bit hard to sleep because of the noise, but I suspect it was because Italy had just beaten Germany in the World Cup and sleeping would have been difficult anywhere in the country. Still, we liked it. The restaurant in particular was quite good, and we usually eschew hotel food.

Just what I wanted in a hotel. Easy access from station with a bus across the street into the historic centre of Perugia. Excellent room and bathroom with lovely view of Umbrian hills, public areas and service. There is not much in the immediate vicinity, but the a very good hotel restaurant, and free wireless in public areas (lots of tables and comfy benches).

From the welcome by the extremely efficient and friendly staff, our stay at this hotel was super. The torrential rain prevented my use of the pool but overall we had lovely experience at this hotel. Room, food and staff excellent. Beware if walking, with cases, from the station. You have to cross a very busy, multi-lane road several times when the pavement on the side you are on suddenly ends! (A common experience in Perugia!) GET THE BUS to and from - stops are virtually opposite hotel. Our room was on the road side and traffic noise was noticeable but not unbearable by any means.

They could make more of the chocolate theme. Quite a nice hotel, but make sure you get a room on the side away from the road. They originally gave us one on the road side. It was very hot and the traffic noise made it impossible to open the windows. They moved us to a room on the opposite side without quibble. Good restaurant, nice food. Didn't try the chocolate menu tho.

Can't speak too highly of this place...the directions on the website from the train station were accurate, the room spacious and beautiful, quiet, air-cond. Roof top pool which, though small, was big enough to swim properly in...and nearly always empty!! Hotel situated at the bottom of the hill and Perugia historical centre at the top...I did find it best to lounge by the pool during the day and head up to the town late afternoon when the heat was more bearable (it's quite a steep trek!!). Restaurant in the hotel was fantastic too (and I don't mean the chocolate one!). Stay here!!

Situated not far from the main attractions of the City Center, may be just a bit to far for walking distance since it is quite a climb but we did it anyway. I booked 2 rooms for my son and I during Umbria Jazz on the recommendation of an Italian colleague. I found the staff competent, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast is a comprehensive buffet, with plenty of fresh produce. Rooms at the back of the hotel are probaly quieter than those at the front, as the hotel faces a busy road. The old centre of Perugia is at the top of a very steep hill, and easier to get to by taxi or bus than walking!!

We enjoyed our stay and our only slight problem was with the meal selection - our first evening meal was disrupted as the order was misunderstood by the waiter. Perhaps it would be better if there was more than one English menu and that the menue have both English and Italian descriptions for each dish to save confusion.
