excellent budget hotel, stayed at the Timhotel,Montmartre between 19Aug09 & 26Aug09,fortunately we had excellent sunny weather and the aircon at the upgraded room proved to be a real asset. Could have done with a few more croissants at breakfast,we'll definitely stay here again when we visit Paris-the building next door (Bateau Lavoir -I think)was frequesnted by Picasso and Modigliani the artists c1910 - something that may have strong appeal to lovers of modern art

I chose Timhotel for location and requested for Eiffel/ Monmartre view from same room. I did not get it tho was willing to pay more as we were 3, and I know rooms in Paris are SMALL. Service, extra information on city could be improved. Glad I stayed cuz I love the Sacre/ Place du Tetre area, but will not return in future. They were kind enough to hold our suitcases after we had checked out, and call us a taxi tho.

Having read some of the reviews I didn't know what to expect, however I was pleasantly suprised. Situated in a lovely leafy square, Timhotel is in the ideal location. Metro station just down the road, many restaurants and cafe's within walking distance and the Sacre Coeur and artists' quarter just around the corner. The hotel is not luxurious, but it is very nice for the price and spotlessly clean; the maid making the beds, and fresh towels daily. The rooms were light and airy - we had a superior and were very glad of the air-conditioning as the weather was boiling! Staff were very friendly and check-in & out was hassle-free! We didn't bother with breakfast as there's a bakery across the road! Whilst you don't get the 'Ritz', what you do get is a very nice hotel in a lovely area of Paris. We would definately stay there again!

This hotel is fine for a short stay in Paris. It's a typical 2 star hotel, nothing fancy and quite small. It's location is the big plus - right in the heart of Monmatre, in a cobbled square. Can be noisey at night with a lively bar opposite. Good fun though!

My son and I stayed for 7 nights, June 1-7. I reserved the room almost 4 months in advance and the cost was 130 EUR a night. The room (#122) ws very small and the tiny twin beds almost touched. There was no view, no fan, no clock, and the small TV only received a few channels, none in English. The most annoying thing was we had to turn in our room key, which was attached to a large placard like a gas station restroom key, everytime we left the hotel, and then request it again after returning, sometimes after waiting in line. After awhile I stopped doing this and no one seemed to mind. I preferred to skip the mediocre-looking breakfast in the lobby, in favor of a large slice of quiche in a paper bag from a shop just down the hill. Then I would seek out one of the cafes in the neighborhood for my "grande creme" which was usually delicious and strong. One surprising thing about Paris was how the streets were so quiet in the early morning, with many shops still closed (whereas in the evening the restaurants didn't really start serving dinner until 8 pm). But one of the nice things about Timhotel was the little square, or "place", outside with benches under chestnut trees where I sat in the morning and watched parents-- both men and women and dressed for work-- walking hand in hand with their children to the elementary school further up the hill. All in all I had a great time, but I would have to say, "Paris, oui. Timhotel, non."

We LOVED this hotel. It is not fancy, no ice, we got Superior room, which had AC, and needed it the last week of May 2009. Room 320. View from closed windows when we arrived was just of green from tree tops. Absolutely gorgeous. As we were leaving they mentioned rooms with views were avail, but I was totally pleased with our view of the square. Wonderful bakery across the street and market down to the left we discovered on last night of 6. Noisy even at 4AM on one weekend night, but perfect location for Place du Tertre and just a short walk from Pigalle and Abesses Metro. For even DOUBLE the price I would have been thrilled. We paid 89 Euros per night most nights. Friendly, personable staff. I would return in a heartbeat, and I am picky. Small room, terribly small shower, but overall, I cannot enthuse enough. Thank you Venere. Already referred coworker to you for Europe trip in a couple weeks. No noisy children, so a huge plus.

Fantastic view from Room 414, paid for a Superior double room with a view and got it. Rooms are small but it was clean, comfortable, plenty of bedding, towels, soap etc. It wasn't our intention to stay in the room but look around Paris, so it didn't matter about how big it was! Worth it for the view we had every morning and night. Location great up on the hill. Used Pigalle metro station instead of the closest one when we had luggage to save all those steps at Abessess. Lots of local cafes and bars in the area. Spent lots of time walking up things - Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame (bell and gargoyles)Probably stay in another part of Paris on our next visit. But had a great time and found hotel staff fine - man dealing with us when we left was very friendly.

We had driven from nottingham and were stopping over in Paris to break up our long drive to Chamonix. We stayed in a superior room at a good rate. I would recommend this type of room if you can afford it, as it appeared to offer greater floor space in comparison to the other rooms on the same floor. Very clean room and facilities. I had a pleasant experience and would stay there again

This is an excellent location for sightseeing round the Sacre Cour Area and for the local restaurants and cafes. Our room was spacious and had good views. The metro is just a 5 minute walk away. The hotel itself was very quite with some street noise later at night. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definately recommend it for a relaxing break.

Our room was very small (which is normal for France lol) Staff were not that friendly. What I did like though was falling asleep at night to a group of French people who were playing guitar and singing songs. What we also liked about this location was that it was walking distance to Montmartre.

Beautiful little hotel in a nice spot on a steep hill with great courtyard and city views. The neighborhood is very quiet and it's best to walk with another person at night in the area. Check the bill before leaving because there was an error on my bill and the hotel has not returned my e-mail about this.

Although the Timhotel Montmartre's location was excellent, we found the hotel's staff to be rude and the quality of room to be below what is expected for the price paid. Our room was tiny and the bathroom even tinier! When we asked to be moved to a different room, the fact that we had booked our room via Venere (rather than directly with the hotel) seemed to count against us. We ended up changing hotels - a much much nicer hotel with a beautiful and spacious bedroom (but cheaper) and amazing staff. Will never return to Timhotel after this experience!

This hotel is very very good value for money, recently refurbished and very clean and friendly. It is situated in a lovely litttle neighbourhood of Paris; on a leafy square, at the Bateau Lavoir, near a traditional cafe, a posh patisserie, a hip bar and around the corner from the grocer that features in the film. Amelie. What's the catch? It's halfway up the hill to the Sacre-Coeur so you have to be a walker. The worst thing I could say is walls are a bit thin and the room is small. Loved it :)

Cost compared with room space and hotel services is to much expensive. No mineral water was available, as well as hairdryer. The only thing which we really appreciate is the place where it's located, in the heart of Paris .

Excellent value for money brought us back for a third time to Timhotel Montmartre. Montmartre is a lovely part of Paris - great views, wonderful food, delightful small shops, easy transport. Hotel is in a lovely setting with very pleasant and helpful staff.

Ireland, Sep 2006
On the plus side the location was good. Only 2 min walk to all the restaurants in Montemarte and close to Metro. Had to wait ages to check in as the receptionist could not locate the key of the room ! I was tired and hungry at the time so having to wait for over half an hour while people searched for a key was annoying. There was no apology for this either.

We arrived at about 3:00 PM but the hotel staff cannot locate my reservation in their system. When they finally found it, they made us wait for the room to be available. We finally got into our room at about 4:30. I only booked for two nights. I requested for an one night extension but we had to move to another room at it cost 25% more although smaller.

Very good location in the heart of Montmartre. Hotel is nice and compared to any of my previous stays in Paris size of the rooms is quite good (with exception of bathroom, where I believe some people would not be able to fit into the shower). The only issue was the breakfast, which was firstly quite poor secondly not included in the booking. Lady with a smile told me they quote on Venere always w/o breakfast, so watch out. For 8 Eur you would get much nicer breakfast anywhere in MOntmartre...

It's a hike and a half up the hill from the metro (not a problem for anyone under 65, say...) but it's one of the better hotels I've been to in Paris, in this price bracket. The rooms were competent, clean and reasonably quiet. The only lacking thing was weak wifi service (which was extra) but it's not really their fault. Lots of fabulous patisseries and some very touristy restaurants will keep you from eating in, but it's a great location and fine staff, and I will return.

This was my 7th stay in Paris and the third at a Tim Hotel and this was the best place I've stayed so far. The hotel has a great location in a quiet tree lined square on a pedestrian route to Monmarte. The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from Abbesses metro station - the only drawback being that's its up a steep hill on the way back. The area around the metro station has lots of nice shops and places to eat and there were more French people around than tourists compared to other areas I've stayed e.g left bank. The rooms were small but clean. The shower cubicles were small and this may be an issue for larger people. The receptionist was very helpful too. We skipped breakfast, i think it was 8 euro. What they were serving looked fine but we preferred a coffee at Cafe Saint Jean (opposite metro) and grabbing something from either of 2 excellent bakeries either side of the metro station. I would happily recommend this place - its very good value for money.

This was our second stay at Timhotel Montmartre. We requested and were given the same room as last year. We love this part of Paris and the hotel is delightfully situated on a small, pretty square with views of Sacré Coeur. Building work on another property in the square slightly marred the view from the hotel and general upgrading work in Montmartre is affecting some of the streets, but the magic is still there. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful. Our room was not large but was airy and very comfortable. The breakfast room is basic but adequate with a self service breakfast. Access to the rest of Paris is easy by bus or by Metro. Stops are a short walk from the hotel. I am sure we will be returing on our next visit to Paris.

When we arrived, there was a slight problem with our economy room reservation, so they put us in the top floor deluxe room, for both nights, at the economy price. It was spectacular: Sacre Coeur out one window, the Eiffel Tower out the other. The staff was extremely helpful, and answered our many questions politely and thoroughly, including looking up the times of museum openings and church services on the web for us. I alsoliked the location, near Sacre Coeur, but also near bustling rue des Abbesses with its many cafes and wonderful food stores.

Yes the rooms were small but were more than compensated by the incredible view and the location, We watched the sun rise over Paris and the lights of the Eiffel tower from our bed as we went to sleep. All in beautiful historic Montmatre.

A small, but very fine hotel, situated nicely in MontMarte. The room we´ve got was small, but it has everything you´ll need for a long weekend Paris and is clean. The little square in front of the hotel as well as the cafe-restaurant provide a charming atmosphere (and good wine and food). The parking is organised well. Al in all a very good spot to discover MontMartre and the rest Paris

The website does not show how hotel is good. It is very close to the metro which is not clear on the website either. Very clean. Very good for price. I had 160euro room for 85 euro (? at least that is what they said) and I felt like it was cheap too.

Fantastic location and superb view from our superior room. It's a shame that 2 of the lights in the room weren't working and the staff didn't replace them even asking them to twice. Hoever would highly reccomend for the location.

This hotel is situated in a gorgeous square in one the most romantic parts of the city. It worked for us - got engaged while staying here! Hope it can work it's magic on someone else too! (Make sure you go to the Sacre Couer - only 5 mins away and well worth it).

I arrived early and the staff gave me a better room since one was available yet charged me the quoted price. The rooms are small by U.S. standards but everything was clean and perfectly functional. I had French windows that overlooked a cobbled square filled with chestnut trees and pleasantly noisy roosting pigeons at night. The staff was both friendly and helpful and were gracious enough to put up with my barely passable French. I would recommend this hotel for any couple who would be happy with small, clean and friendly.

I found this hotel ideal for our needs. I booked a superior room for my girlfriend and I and although not the cheapest room, the view over Paris to the Eifel tower was fantastic and justified the cost. The room itself although quite small was very clean and nicely furnished. The location with its close proximity to Monmartre and its places of interest was also excellent.

We came to Timhotel Montmartre after we stayed one night at the Lafayette Concorde hotel at Champs Elysee. I really enjoyed staying at Timhotel which is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood just 3 min. below the sacre coeur. Rooms were really clean with own bathroom. In the 3rd floor we had of course no such view as from the 27th floor from the Lafayette hotel. But it is sayed they also have rooms with a nice view and it is much quieter and has more atmosphere. There is also the possibility to have breakfast for a little upprice. Nevertheless we prefered having our breakfast at a little streetcafe near the hotel. If you decide coming to this hotel, be aware to have to travel with the 3min away metro (service every 2 min) into the city center, which takes about 15-20 min. Besides do not buy the tourist ticket for the metro, you most certainly will not need it (it only payes when you use it more often then 4 times a day)- better take the ticket for going 10 times.

The hotel is basic but the excellent location in Montmartre makes up for the small bedrooms and lack of public lounge areas. Views from the 5th floor over the city are stunning. We were happy with Room only basis since there are a selection of cafes close by. Highly recommended as a base for people seeking value without the luxuries.
