This hotel is very, very poor. Tottaly dirty. The rooms, walls, stairs, etc... The elevator has capacity only for two people withou luggage or one people and one luggage. The smell into the room is tottaly nonsense. To sleep on it it was necessary to use one spray and to wait 30 minutes (minimum) off, and after to try to sleep. Impossible to sleep with the smell. the nights were terrible. I feel myself stolen by the value that I paid and for what the hotel offered.

Very poor quality of the hotel for cleanliness, staff, and general status of the building: scratched paintings, burned light bulbs, torn carpets, etc... One of my worse experiences over more than 40 years of frequentation of hotels alla over the world...

Resid.Voltaire was exactly what I expected. I knew that since it's on a busy street and room was in front, it wouldn't be as quiet. But still everybody with good sleeping habits can easily sleeps well! Staff are very helpful and friendly. My room was spacious even for doing some stretching and abs in the morning!Beds and towels better than other hotels and clean. Metro in front of Hotel!Area was good and safe.I would go again.

We compared the "actual" scenario with the images published in the site. We were dissapointed as we were told that the room was ready at a specific time and when we were there, the room was still not ready. We had to wait another 20 minutes. In addition, the name of the property was also not the same in which that it made us confused on the location. We had to ask a bystander the location. The floor of the rooms were not cleaned daily. The property is NOT comparable to what is published on the web.

The lift did not work. I think it never will ! The stears is very narrow, only for 1 man. It is really hard work to go to the 4th floor with luggages. At every doors has a strong spring to shut very laudly. The furnishing is very poor.

Good location right next to the metro station, with lots of services right next to it (supermarket, pharmacy, café, McDonald's restaurants...). Room was a bit shabby and worn down but still comfortable and clean. You could hear everything happening in the hallway inside the room, but thankfully not what was going on in other rooms! Staff was not the most professional: there was a fire alarm at night when we were there, and they never explained properly what was going on, only joked about it. Not a complete disappointment, but have stayed at better places for the same price and in the same eighborhood.

Very friendly staff. Wireless internet in lobby fine. Poor room, awful blanket on bed, awful smell in bathroom. Horrible staircase and no elevator, lived on 5th floor. No pillowcases, but receieved one and finally two when asking for them. Overall, very good location, nice restaurants nearby, nextdoor to Metro. I suppose Paris is expensiv and you get what you pay for. But a little freshen up wouldn´t hurt. Travelled with my daughter 26 years old.

We felt that the room was rather dusty but the bathroom was very well-maintained. The winding stairs had a musky atmosphere too. It would be ideal if the faulty lift was repaired as hotel guests had to carry heavy baggages up to their respective rooms. Nonetheless, we were very thankful for one particular receptionist who helped us carry one of our luggages to the third storey despite his apparent old age. However, we felt that the provision of breakfast was not value for money as the selection and quantity were very limited.Overall we were happy with the stay as it is very conveniently located.

My friend and I had some trouble finding the hotel, simply because the sign does not say "Résidence Voltaire." Instead, it says, "Hipotel." While we were there, the elevator was broken, but unless you have a large suitcase, it should not be a problem. The location was superb! It is next to a café, just past McDonald's, and you can see the metro exit/entrance from the door of the hotel! It is literally one/two minutes, depending on how fast you walk and what floor you happen to be on, from the Voltaire metro station. Perfect for those who want to see the sights of Paris and use the metro!

Bathroom smelled all the time if we didn't have the window open and the shower curtain was broken so water got on the floor every time we showered. There was a private party on Saturday that went all night and kept us awake all night. Not person staying at hotel but nearby residence in that back of the building. Lastly, the lift/elevator was broken the entire stay and we were on the 5th floor.

We had three rooms, with one being on the street side and very noisy. All rooms were very basic, clean enough for crashing in, and they met our needs, ie clean, very close to a metro, etc. The elevator was not working while we were there and the staircase carpet badly needs to be cleaned. There is a great little place directly next door to eat. Service there, provided by waiter James, was super and the food was good with plentiful servings. A perfect spot to eat and drink after touring sites all day. This place BARELY makes my 2 star minimum, due to noise and cleanliness issues. However, you just can't beat the price for a room in Paris, and the location was superb! No bugs. When the bathroom light didn't work the gentleman at the desk came up immediately to replace the bulb. I would stay again.

Third one was bareble with a nice view to the backyard dumbsters... all the furniture was falling apart and the phone was disconnected. there was sort of renovation going on and the workers were smoking in the hallways and the loundry was luying around in huge sacks on the narrow staircase. stairs were still a better option than the one person lift. the staff was pretty friendly though and the rooms were cleaned every day.

We stayed here for 3 nights in December. The room was ok for a short stay but if you are staying longer you might want to pay the bit extra and be a bit more comfortable. The beds were made every day and towels changed. The location of the hotel is excellent. There is a metro station right outside the hotel. The surrounding area was welcoming at night and there is a macdonalds on the corner where you could get a coffee after a long day sight seeing. There is a tobacconist next door and a supermarket over the road. The hotel staff were very pleasant. Would definitely stay here again if only staying for a couple of nights.

I had a wonderful experience at the Residence Voltaire. Above all I value the great service of the people who work at the reception and manage the hotel. It is, of course, a modest place to stay. But, the unusual hospitality of the people who work there makes the whole difference. I was travellling alone during the first days of my vacation. My friends joined me later. They came from South America and they stayed in room 211 and were very happy with the arrangements. I stayed in the sixth floor and the only uncomfortable thing was the elevator: it was too small. The hotel is right next to a nice cafe/restaurant and a few meters away from McDonald's. Also you are close to the store where they sell tickets for the Metro and Busses. The entrance for the Metro Voltaire Station is in the corner. in front of this place is the stand with Newspapers in different languages. Toward the left side of the entrance is the best part of Voltaire Boulevard. There are some narrow streets (to the right side) that I felt were not safe if walking alone at night. The rooms were modest but have the essential things. Hot water, heating facilities, clean beds and towels, phone, etc Olga was one of the nicest ladies that came to clean the room. Priceless. And with a welcoming smile. Above all, I would recommend this hotel because of the service. Each one of the employees went beyond their duties to help me, and later, they also helped my two friends who joined me. RIAD is the name of a very knowledgeable receptionist. The best. He can solve any problems you may encounter right away in a very warm and friendly manner. Besides, he provides all types of tips on how to navegate the city and make arrangements for theater tickets, musseums or more trips with a friendly smile. The only problem was that every receptionist works there for only two days a week, so we were waiting for him every time. But again, all employees of this hotel knew their job. Also the manager/owner was supervising close

After seeing some of the comments I was a bit worried about this place, but it was fine. The staff had excellent English for when my French ran out and were friendly and helpful. The room had been partly redecorated and was big and had a great view of the Place Leon Blum. The bathroom was a bit tatty and although it had been well cleaned it looked kind of old, so that there were dark patches and mildew spots that had got ingrained - not dirty but just a bit elderly and in need of regrouting and a lick of paint. Voltaire is slightly out of the way and a pain of a Metro station to get to from eg Montmartre, but walkable for the Marais etc. When I was there in Oct 08 there was building work going on so was hard to spot but basically it's just behind McDonalds, with a smallish entrance next to the cafe at the left of the McD's entrance.

We only stayed in Paris one full day. Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We had a 4th floor balcony room facing onto the main Boulevard Voltaire. We expected it to be noisy but the windows shut out most of the noise and the view of the city was great. We were very happy with our stay apart from the fact that there was no hot water the evening we arrived...and as we went sightseeing early next morning we were unable to shower until the end of the day...which wasn't nice has we had been travelling from Manchester, England by coach for 18 hours. The location of the Hotel was fantastic for us. McDonalds just next door, and the Metro right outside which took us to the Eiffel Tower within 20 minutes! We were going to see Cyndi Lauper at Le Bataclan, which was just a 15 minute walk down the road...perfect!! Will definately use this Hotel again!!! :)

We stayed in Voltaire hotel from 20 to 25 of September Location: The best part of the hotel was it very nearby to the voltaire station. Voltaire station is on metro 9. Though to reach here some change of metro line is necessary, it is easy to do so. On the location wise it is great. There are shops nearby for food and brevarages. Space: The drag of the hotel is rooms. It is quite small. When we upacked our bags a bit, little space was left to move around. Bathrooms: These are even smaller. Just enough to get you through. Its just usable. But since the sewage pipe run through our bathroom it felt noisy at all time. They supply towels. Beds: Are good just to take enough rest after a whole day travel and they change it as necessary. Atmosphere: Friendly and as expected. Facilities: Internet was suppose to be provided, which we did'nt get throughout our stay. Overall 3/5

I guess it was the most horrible hotel i have ever stayed at in my life. The rooms were dirty and unpleasant, it was smelling smoke in our room. Our luggage got stuck in the elevator which was size of a bean seed, the wash room facilities were of a simpliest kind. This is the best value for money that I have ever experienced in a hotel. The price quoted (and charged) was far less when booked on line and the onlslight inconvenience was some necessary redecorating that was going on for a few days while we were there. We stayed for a month. What more can I say. The staff are charming and helpful. They speak good English but were willing to tolerate our bad French and even help us with a little practice conversation. We will be going back.

Cramped and a bit worn, but it will give you a shelter for the night. The neighbourhood is a typical, not-so-touristy part of Paris, with easy Metro access to whereever you'd want to go. There might be more charming budget options, but this was where a room was available, when I needed it, and it was OK. If you are really squeamish about a few cracks here and there and the occasional moldy spot on the bathroom wall, you should probably look for something else, but then again, it's Paris, you get what you pay for.

I didn't had "petite dejeunet" because i read on the site it wasn't that good...in any case, the quality/price ratio is very good, especially for the location. In the morning, hot water was a little bit too "warm" in my opinion, but honestly acceptable

You get what you pay for with this hotel: I paid €190 for a double room for 4 nights, and I was happy with it. Ok, the decor leaves something to be desired, the rooms are fairly small and the walls are thin, but the staff were very friendly and helpful, the place was spotlessly clean and the location was great. I really enjoyed being away from the tourist shops and in a residential area - there are plenty of metro stops nearby and it's only a few mins walk from Pere Lachaise. I'd definitely go back

This is the second time i stayed in Paris and the accomodation which i selected through internet is really disappionted compared to previous stay. The hotel is really in very poor condition, untidy, very dirty.I only can rate this hotel as hostel instead of hotel.I stayed for three days and the room is only clean once. If not because of the location of this hotel is very near to metro station,i would not make such big mistake to choose this hotel.

The place is fine if you're just looking for a place to sleep. The rooms are ok, the bathroom was really small, somewhat dirty and had a leak. Really tiny elevator and overall the place was old and kind of unkept. It was worth it for the price. Location isn't great but you have a metro station right outside.

The room had smelled a little bit like a smoking place, but I had a nice from the six floor. I got a single room. Nothing big or special, but it served its purpose. I didn´t enjoy the type of shower head they used but overall it was ok.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, close to the Metro and McDonald. The only thing is the heating seems not very good, and the room is not as spacious as the photos shown on the net.

The rooms were quite small to be called a family room as it was on the reservation. However, when comparing the price/value factor, it was really worth the mony paid. The location was excelent. Metro station if not, almost in front of the door with all services within a five minute walk. I would definately stay at this property again.

5 nights, no warm water, heater also didn't work, icy cold in the room!i have said to the employees, but helped nothing. the price of breakfirst is too high(not included in the room price!),costs 5EUR each person , only two bread and a cup of coffee. location is good, just beside the Metro, in the otherside of the street is a supermarket there, open 9:00 to 22:00.

It's almost in front of the underground, very near the bastille and it's surrounded by many restaurants and stores. Staff is friendly, but some of them only speak french, specially the ladies who clean the rooms and serve the breakfast. If you pay for breakfast (petit dÈjeuner) you have to be in the dining room before 9:30am and will get only two breads with jelly and butter and hot chocolate/coffee or tea. Please leave your room before 10am, beccause they donít knock to see if you still in there, they just open and get in, so we don't recommend you to stay there after that hour. The room isn't very nice, because the walls, carpet and bedspread look very old, just like the bathroom. At least they changed every day the towels and sheets.

This hotel was a very resonable price for being so close to all the sites in Paris. It was easy to find, right on a metro stop. It was a bit noisy as its on a busy intersection and also from internal noise from other rooms. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was ok, the bathroom was a bit smelly and had a few tiles missing and could have been a bit cleaner. But overall it suited our needs.

Probably one of the worst places I have ever stayed in, the price charged certainly did not reflect in the quality of location, services and overall feel of the place. Bathroom was disgusting, broken tiles and leaky pipes. Cobwebs evrywhere, the place needs a good clean. Very dissapointed with your site for recommending this place, I should insist on my money back.

In my opinion, the only problem with this hotel is that it's not very clean and it's a little bit shabby-style (lack of tiles and a stoppped up sink, a hole in the roof and, overall, walls that let every and each sound be heard from one room to another, which could be annoying for a travelling couple - or their neighbors..). Both the rooms I tried were quite dusty and I didn't feel much like walking around shoeless in my room. But the location is great (10 min's from Notre Dame), the price is not high and hey, the breakfast is included! I think it's a good place if you don't have a high budget. Better than an average hostel, you know..

la chambre aurait pu être correcte si elle avait été propre, en particulier la salle de bain (ex: le robinet n'était pas bien nettoyé il restait le dentifrice du précédent client). Côté cour l'hôtel est silencieux et il est bien situé dans Paris

I have made a reservation at your webstite. When I come to the hotel I have reserved at that night, they tell me there are no rooms for me!! After that, I have been rearrange to another hotel! What a horrible experience it is! I don't know it's the problem of your website or of the hotel. But I am very unsatisfied, and I have no reason to continue using your website to book any hotel any more!!!!!

Right beside metro stop which will take you anywhere in paris. there is a main road outside which is a little bit noisy but not terribly so. black out curtains in room which work very well in blocking out street lights. breakfast consists of a beverage of your choice, a roll and a croissant, with butter and jam provided. breakfast room is quite small. wouldn't be suited to a big group. the lift is extremely small. really only two people can fit close together. one person with a case. but it works fine. overall, an excellent hotel. good service. good location. good breakfast. clean. tidy. friendly. well located. stay there!

The lift is so small, it says 'maximum limit three persons' but I would like to see how ''two'' persons can fit into it! The room is pretty clean, but the bathroom is way below standards.

Very cheap accommodation within walking distance of major sites & for the price you expect no frills. However, I had expected a bed to sleep on in a clean room. Unfortunately, our bed was broken and in a terrible state of repair & our room didn't appear to have experienced the recent renovations. For the sake of a few more euros I would have been better of stay elsewhere. Paris is no fun if you can’t sleep!
