A really comfortable, friendly and convenient small hotel. Very central yet quiet and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We hope to return on our next visit to Paris and would thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Great location. We enjoyed the market, bakery, charcuterie, fromagerie and restaurants around Pl. Maubert so much through our 6 nights of stay. The room was cleaned well, but other service was rendered if asked. They keep us quite and comfortable.

We stayed in over 8 hotels during our trip to Italy and France, and this was by far the best hotel. It was centrally located, the rooms were comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel!

A lovely little hotel tucked in a cul-de-sac next to a tiny public park/garden. We had a family suite: plush and cosy. Double glazing was excellent, cutting out the traffic noise well. Staff were calm, polite and helpful. The room was kept clean and tidied every day. The hotel retains many original features, and recent decor tries to maintain the "historic" feel. Pleasant, if a little "twee" [to use a british term]. However, we would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely go back. Notre Dame is at the bottom of the street - not bad, eh?

Hotel had our room ready when we arrived at 8:30 AM! We were upgraded by the desk clerk with no rate change. Wonderful little hotel and the location was very good for walking to most sites. The bus stop was out front to go to the other sites we wanted to visit. Would definately stay here again.

An excellent property, beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. Rooms are very comfortable, and spacious by Paris hotel standards. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom and we had a bath as well as a shower. We didn't partake of the hotel's breakfast but preferred to visit the many patisseries in the area. Excellent location, if like us, you prefer the left bank - right next to the Sorbonne, Blvd St Germain and metro Maubert Mutualite, and along the road from our favourite eaterie Brasserie Balzar. This is a small personal hotel and you can tell the staff care for their guests and give a high standard of service. One small niggle, workmen refurbishing a room on the 1st floor could be heard one morning at 9am, which woke us up, but having said that, as soon as I called down to reception to complain, the noise stopped and we never had any more issues for the rest of our stay. We would definitely stay again.

This is an excellent location: quiet and yet central, at the heart of the 5th arrondisement, 200m from Notre Dame, and less to excellent restaurants like L'Ecurie which is a journey into Old Paris. The rooms are extremely comfortable with fresh linen and pillows, and lavishly furnished. The whole hotel has an air of tranquility, with few rooms, which means there is very little noise in the building. The breakfast is very good at 8 Euros including fresh orange juice and a selection of cakes and bagette. Alternatively you could have bacon and eggs or omelette, with unlimited coffee. The apartments are very good value for four people with two rooms plus bathroom and cooking facilities, with interconnecting doors. The RER line B passes 10 minutes away at St Michel so it's easy to get to the airport. Definitely worth the extra; we will be returning and won't need to think about where to go.

The stay exceeded our expectations, as the room was such a good size, the staff were friendly and the location was fantastic. The local area is lovely and you are well placed to stroll around the Latin Quarter, La Marais, the islands and along the Left Bank. The hotel is very close to two metro stations, which means you can get there from Gare du Nord very quickly. Breakfast was good, though we sometimes had to wait for staff to appear and serve us.

I loved this hotel! We stayed in four hotels throughout France, and this one was my favorite. The room was very quaint and "French" with wonderful windows and decorations. The hotel is on a dead-end street, which makes it quieter than other hotels, and the location in the Latin Quarter is perfect. It's close to a Metro stop and to the Ile de France (Notre Dame and Ste. Chappelle). I didn't realize how much I should have appreciated the bathroom until we experienced other hotels in France. Henri IV has a full tub and a shower head that is actually located above your head, not at your knees (this is a big problem in France). It was the most "American" bathroom of all the hotels I stayed in. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, and they all speak English. All in all, I really enjoyed Henri IV and would stay there again.

Perfect location in the Latin Quarter, walking distance to St. Germain De Pres and the river. Good size bedroom and living room, even with double beds in each. ASK FOR AN ADDITIONAL FAN IN SUMMER! It was really hot. And extremely noisy at night - didn't get good sleep but may be due to our room location. Rooms really pretty. Staff very helpful.

Overall a very satisfying stay at a really good value for money hotel. Paris is not the cheapest city in the world so the rate we were charged was very competitive and provided an excellent value for money outcome.

Stayed for 3 nights in Paris for our 35 wedding anniversary. Fantastic little hotel in the Latin Quarter but up a little cul de sac which meant that although we looked out onto the street it was quiet at night. Seven minutes from Notre Dame. Comfortable bed and, for France, decent pillows. Good size room and bathroom for the money. Staff all helpful and charming.

My family of four (mom, dad, 2 teenage daughters) visited Paris for the first time in July 2008 and we loved Hotel Residence Henri IV. Based on the comments in the guest book, we are not alone and I am not surprised that this hotel usually has no vacancies and books early. We reserved an apartment on the 5th floor (the walk up is excellent cardio work) and were very pleased with the style of the room, amenities, sleeping arrangements, balcony, etc. The staff was exceedingly helpful and patient with us. The location is an easy walk to Notre Dame, Luxembourg, St. Germain, and several metro stops. Do not hesitate to book this hotel!

We loved this Hotel! Our room was very nice and complete with a small kitchenette. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. We found the location central enough to walk to just about everywhere we wanted to go, including evening strolls to I'lle Saint-Louis for a scoop of Bertillon ice cream. We will definitely return to Residence Henri IV.

This is a small hotel with no bar, not normally what I like. However the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was excellent and it was really a gem of a nice reasonably priced, no frills, ideally located friendly hotel. I WILL be back. Highly recommended. The the fridge and cooker rings were a bonus, lack of Air condition may be an issue in Summer but this is being fitted later this year.

What a lovely stay in Paris. The location is very central, easy to find, located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the Latin Quarter. Easy walk to Notre Dame and surroundings. Located near the Greek neighborhood which was very lively, festive at night. Excellent restaurants within walking distance. The staff was exceptionally helpful, if reserved, quick to help us in every way, ie. securing restaurant reservations and looking up information on the computer for us. The breakfast was excellent, better than I expected from previous comments. The room was clean, well appointed, pristine with large tub, shower head.

This was a very nice residence type of accommodation without the hotel feel in a quiet location. There were four of us in a suite with a living room and bedroom, one very nice bathroom and kitchenette where we prepared simple meals. The only thing was the broken shower head - the water sprayed against the wall instead of over my body.

Superb central location - minutes awat from Notre Dame. The breakfast at 6 euros is much better and cheaper than similar breakfasts available in local bistros. Within walking distance of St Michel metro stop from Charles de Gaull airport.

The location is outstanding; only minutes' from the Pantheon, the Seine, Notre Dame, the Bat-o-Bus & the Metro. The hotel is small, intimate and authentic. The kitchenette is tiny (suitable only for tea/coffee, reheating & packaged foods - not full meals). The apartments would be perfect for singles/couples; with more than two, lack of luggage/storage space is an issue.

the staff provided excellent and outstanding service! I lost something in my hotel room and they found it and hold it til I called. They were perfectly helpful and forward thinking to send me the desired item to my next destination in France asap. It got there in perfect shape and date desired. I was very happy. They only charged the postal service and no extra--that is very exceptional. Perfect!

We were very happy at our residence Henry IV. There was a lot of street noise that died down during the night and was easily reduced by closing the double-paned windows. The noise from children staying on floors above us was at times louds because at times small boys were running up and down the stairs unsupervised by parents. All noise echoes and magnifies in the space because of little carpet or upholstery in the old building. A friend living in Paris said that our room was good for the price we paid.
