This was the worst hotel I ever stayed at. The staff acted like we were unwelcomed guests and did not seem to value customers at all. They were very rude, room was HORRIBLE, not enough space, common area was one ancient chair under the stairs, WIFI only worked <10% of time even in "lobby", rooms were unkept because owner doesn't want to invest a dime.

It's a good place to stay, was safe and within reach. Right next to subway called Pelleport (which we discovered later), from Gambetta station on first day it was too far to walk to the hotel since we were carrying luggage (we should have gotten on the next train to Pellerport - had we known).Had a good stay there it's close to restaurants and shops. Room was fine, clean, nothing posh, room had a smokey damp kinda smell - Reception was friendly helpful, we got all the info we needed to get around Paris.

This hotel has a fantastic location, near 2 subway stops with access to all of Paris, a laundromat, several restaurants and other useful things. The staff is friendly and mostly multilingual. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return here.

This could been a very nice and cheap hotel. Unfornately it is just cheap. The service in the desk where excellent, very nice people! But we could here the room next to us very good, we never got more than one set of towels - even though we asked for two sets, we where two persons - the tub was dirty and never washed, both the sink and the tub where clogged. The bed was so small that our feets was on the outside when stretched out (we´re normal hights). It was also almost impossible to get fresh air in there. So, no good on this level. But the staff where excellent and we had an ok stay anyway! Did´nt expect too much on that price either...

Good: Staff were excellent - very friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. Free wireless internet. Breakfast was good. Location was very close to the metro station. Nearby restaurant was very good, and reasonably priced. Bad: Had difficulty getting the wireless from the top floor, sheets were itchy enough to disturb sleep (hospital grade? hessian mat?), and the ensuite was not adequately ventilated (smelled of mould)

The gentleman who works the reception during the day was very kind, helpful, and knowledgebale. However, I cannot say the same for the other staff. The room was also far too tiny for the number of persons the room was booked for. It wasn't a bad stay, but too expensive for the location and services offered. I've stayed for cheaper in nicer places in better locations in Paris.

Loved the friendliness of the staff, the location was good just a little further out of the city area than I thought it would be but plenty of restaurants, stores in the area. The room was noisy only if you left the windows open but otherwise perfect would recommend this as an excellent budget accomodation Thanks Marys Hotel

The room was small and a 6 floor walk up, BUT, staff was very efficient, friendly, courteous. I was out late a couple of nights and the night manager was cheerful despite the hour. Metro nearby, lively "real" neighborhood. If you're looking to save money, this is the place.

This hotel was exactly as I expected from the comments. The room size was bigger than I thought though, the decor wasn't beautiful but perfectly fine for a nights stay. Staff very friendly and close to a bakers and tube station. For £35 pounds with the pound being so weak is good value.

Okay. Paris is Paris and is going to be expensive. The room was old cleanish and adequate in a brilliant location well served by the metro. I loved le petit oignon across the road and found the whole experience to be an exact par for what i paid for it. The bathrooms are shared but were clean. The place is basically old, clean, friendly and adequate. I'll go back.

We loved our stay at Marys. We werent sure what we would begetting for 50 euros, but were pleasantly surprised. Sam who was on reception was friendly and made a real effort to speak english. if you dont mind walking a few stairs (no lifts) the room was spacious, had a tv, table and chairs, own bathroom/shower etc and double bed. our room had shutters that opened out to the sunshine and a beautiful leafy tree outside the window, it was neat to view typical parisian life. we loved walking around and shopping in the area where all the locals live, and it was a short few minutes walk to the metro and a short few stops to central paris. would highly recommend to travellers to stay just outside of the main tourist part of paris and to sample eating places there also - much better quality and much cheaper. would really recommend marys to travellers who want amazing value for their money in Paris.

There is no lift/elevator, the mini-bar was never restocked during our week long stay. Even though we were in a double room, every day we only received one towel, though I asked every day for a second towel, they never seemed to catch on. There was construction in the courtyard of the hotel that started every morning at 8:00. The shower was maybe one and a half feet square, and was nearly impossible to turn around in. It wasn't all bad, the bed was very comfortable, though I am pretty positive they never once changed the sheets while we were there. The staff was friendly.

The one complaint was the loudness from the street and our neighbors. There was no air conditioning, and we needed to have the windows open. The staff were very nice. I would highly recommend the "Petits Oignons" Cafe on the corner right near the hotel. They had excellent coffee and food!

The hotel is not really imposing, but it's ok considering the price you pay for it. The location is convenient - 50m to the nearest metro station. Staff is friendly, but I would have expected their English to be more...English. Anyway, I would stay there one more time if I went to Paris once again.

This hotel is great value for money. Showers are hot and rooms are clean. I cannot make any complaints about what we got for what we paid. There are several cafes nearby to eat at. One frustration: the venere website lists the property as '50m from Gambetta' metro station. This is completely false unless it was a typo and meant 5000m. You have to walk 10 minutes if you get off at Gambetta and it is very confusing. Instead we found a metro station 50m away but it is Pelleport stop, not gambetta and it is the secondary line 3 train. The metro staff were very kind and helpful with directions.Very little english is spoken by the staff so be prepared to speak french. Had to leave our room key behond every time we went out, not sure why.

Very good hotel for the price. The bathroom was very large, and the main room was a decent size. There was free wireless internet if you ask for the security key at the front desk. The only problem was the room could get noisy. There was no air conditioning, so to keep the room cool it is necessary to leave the window open, and there is a lot of street noise. The staff was very friendly, and although Mary's is not in a great location relative to the sights, there is a metro station (Pelleport) just a few feet away from the hotel.

Great place as far as getting away from the busy streets of paris. it is situated in a nice little suburban area. so your not going to be in the middle of paris. the people there are very nice. but stretch before you go up the steps! its a classic paris style building, which means there is alot of spiral steps that go straight up. but other than that it was a good hotel, had a nice view.

A few points to note: - It's about 5 minutes walk from Gambetta station. Not bad, but not brilliant either. - I was on the 6th floor, with no lift. - The TV was flat to the wall a couple of feet from the ceiling, and on the side wall opposite the foot of the bed. No idea what the thinking is here.

I stayed 4 nights in this Hotel, i would not reccommend it, because of the bad service provided. it is not allow to refill water into my empty bottle, i think it's kind of unacceptable for me. And an extra towel needs two days to get it!! However, the good thing is Metro, supermarket, bread shop and Internet cafe are just few steps away.

We loved Mary's hotel... it was quaint and charming although small. It was clean, the staff so nice and helpful. The Metro is just around the corner. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood with a grocery and patisserie (and sushi place) within a block's walk. It's exactly what I was looking for when booking an inexpensive and worldly room.

My husband described this hotel as tacky and shabby when we walked in. We have a lot of experience of backpacking and using cheap hotels but this was our worst experience by far! Anyone thinking of staying here - don't! Run away! It is quite a long walk from Gambetta Underground (not 50 yards!)and when we got there it was seedy, dank and smelly. The room was absolutely tiny - no room to put the rucksacks down. The electrics were hanging out of the walls, the tiles were falling off in the bathroom. Lights didn't work. The man at the desk was incredibly rude. He tried to tell me my credit card was no good. I made him try it a few times. No. I gave him an alternative. That didn't work either. My husband gave him his. Nope! At this stage he said his machine wasn't working. He then insisted on cash. I think this is just a ruse so that he didn't have to put anything though the books. Then while my husband and stepson went out for some dinner I stayed on my own in the room, there was a lot of shouting and a woman was screaming and crying. We had booked three nights but we just stayed the first night and then moved to L'Superhotel around the corner which I highly recommend.

Sorry, but we found the manager/owner (????) kind of rude and not welcoming. Used, wet & dirty towels already on the floor (meaning need to be changed) were still hanged back on the rack for re-used. We did stay only 3 out of our 6 nights of reservation. However, the one we had at Lourdes (France)w/ Hotel Rome for 3 nights was alright, we had fresh towels to freshen up after a tired and exciting day of sight seeing.... Sorry but little things count....

The rooms are ok, the location is exellent for this price. The bath-rooms could be cleaner and the entrance looks very poor. But you can quickly get into the city-center with the Metro. The offered breakfast for 5,50 Euro should be booked, you cannot get a better one nearby.

The hotel fulfills a basic need and if one merely needs to get out of the rain, then I could recommend it. However it is quite noisy resulting from the squeaky doors and loud deadbolts. With common but separate toilet and shower there is a lot of opening and closing of doors with the sounds echoing down the hallways. The point of most concern was the objectionally strong sachet of herbs hung just inside my door as a deodorizer. One could only wonder what disaster was being masked. It did not make for a good night's sleep.

The first thing i noticed was that they had no elevators and i had to climb the stairs with two huge luggages to the 6th floor, that was a workout. the first thing you notice entering into the room is there is a funky smell. i would gag everytime i entered the room, moreover the smell would get on your clothes. another thing is that the bathroom and showers are across the hall. all this is yours for 36 euros a night. cant really ask for much with that price. by the way, you kind of get use to the smell the longer you stay.

It was not easy for some of us to ask questions in the hotel: they don´t speak english and two of us don´t speak french. We couldnot make clear that we wanted some more towels, for example. We only have 2 towels for the three of us , al four days the same two towels. It was a very very small room; just enough for the beds. An open window ánd lying on the bed was not possibel. The fotographs of the rooms suggested more space.

I booked a single room for myself, and as i expected, the room is furnished with a single bed, sink, plus TV. But to reach this floor, which i supposed are all the single rooms located, i have to clam up for 6 floors and the stairs are narrow. Although I have prepared to share a shower-room and a toilet with the others on the floor, i was surprised to find the shower did not work. But in spite of the fact that my room always smells cigarets, i find the location of the hotel quite convenient. There are cafes, bakeries, Post, supermarks in the surroundings, and the subwaystations are also 5 minutes away. I had a great time in Paris, and paid a relatively low price for the room, but i felt uncomfortable in the room, maybe double-rooms are better equipped.

I had a problem with hotel location. It is really very close to metro station (you need only to cross the road). But it was NOT "Gambetta" station, but "Pelleport" on metro line "3 bis" (one stop from "Gambetta"). By foot it takes about half an hour to get there from "Gambetta", and it is not convenient if you are tired. The other problem is that on the sixth floor where I had a single room, it is extremely low water pressure, and it is really not easy to take a shower at any time you want. Moreover, WC and shower are on the floor, not in the room, but as I guess now it is typical for low-price Paris hotels. All other information is adequate to reality. And in fact everything was smooth and service was very friendly. I think it is a good hotel if you are short in money, but want to have a single room. I am happy that I was able to find it out with Venere.com service.

Even though their website promised that all the rooms are equipped with a shower and a hair drier, I never found the one of them; both the shower and the toilet were situtated on the corridor. The water pressure on the 5th floor was nonexistent, which caused some problems with washing my long hair. The fotos were definitey "well chosen" and it's definitely an exagerration to talk about "tasteful decoration"

I was searching for a low-budget hotel, and I was expecting a very poor hotel. I was happily surprised when I saw the room, which are not as small as I imagined but quite large and comfortable. The price/quality relationship is quite excellent. big and cheap rooms in paris is a good and rare deal. Just one problem: reception is open just till 3 a.m. so it's not possible to stay outside all night long! this is a great problem. I advice that the hotel would leave the key to the guests. anyway very good stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. When set in relation to the cheap price, the room was really quite comfortable and appropriate. We had a nice view out on the street from our window. The TV was also a nice addition, but it was very quiet and you couldn't turn up the volume. The only really distressing thing about Mary's Hotel was that the rooms hat quite thin walls and you could hear almost everything your neighbours were doing (which can be quite a bad thing if they are listening to techno all night long).

If you are on a tight budget (poor student travelers)and pretty much desperate for a clean and cheap place to stay, Mary's Hotel isn't too bad. The facilities are functional and clean, and the rooms are somewhat welcoming. It's a one-star hotel out of the action of Paris, but it's a place to stay. The hotel staff aren't the most friendly, but whatever.

The staff was very friendly, but speak very little english. You may have to ask for extra towels so it helps to know some French. The neighborhood is very nice, and has a lot of shops and restaurants. Eventough this is not an area used to tourists, people could not have been nicer. A quick walk to the Metro and you are connected with the rest of Paris. Perhaps the room could have been tended to a little better, but for the price we could not have asked for more.

The room is fine while the service needs improve. The towel had bad smell, and it took me two days to get them to change a new one.

I wasn't expecting anything luxurious but I couldn't complain for the price. I found the corridors extremely dark and being on the sixth floor was quite a climb wihout a lift. I might go back there again.

Direi rapporto qualita prezzo ottima

Finding the Hotel was quite difficult as we emerged from Gambetta metro station onto busy Place Gambetta. The hotel itself was adequate for a budget option. We had two single rooms & a double room. The double room (for my sister & husband) was much better quality than the singles. The singles were up on the 6th floor with no lift which wasn't so good for my 61 year old mother. The guy on reception wasn't so friendly on our arrival & failed to give us a receipt. The other staff on duty at different times were much nicer. There was a lot of traffic noise all through the night in the rooms facing onto Rue Pelleport. The communal toilets & shower were adequate although the shower suffered from low water pressure. Overall though for what you pay it was good value. The rooms were very clean. The area itself was also surprisingly nice. Place Gambetta was excellent for cafes, tabacs & McDonalds. It was only 6 metro stops to the centre of the city so I wouldn't say it was too far out. This was my 4th visit to Paris. I would give Mary's Hotel a thumbs up for budget travellers.

The reception was not very good, and the staff was not very helpful. They gave me misinformation about how to catch a cab, and they could have had the decency to arrange a taxi for me, when I left, I almost missed my flight from CDG airport. I ahd to carry my own heavy bags, they gave me a room on the top floor, with very difficult to climb stairs, I took a photo. There were many empty rooms on other floors. They pretty much just ignored me, and don't speak anything except French. On the venere webstie, it says they have a hairdryer available, but they don't. when I asked the front desk about a hairdryer, the man acted like I was crazy.
