When we chose the hotel we were interested above all about the hotel position in an area that was useful for our stay. When we arrived there we discovered that the position was better than we thought. The line 4 of the underground put you in connection with the other underground lines so that you could visit almost every side of the city. Moreover it is really close the hotel (2 minutes walking at Porte d'Orleans-Montrouge station) together with some bus lines that brought directly to the heart of the city. About the hotel we are completely satisfied. The cleanliness of the room was very good, reception service was excellent(among the other, they nicely helped us with a parcel packaging). The room 208(a superior one) was spacious and quiet and well equipped. Near the hotel there is a vast choice of supermarkets, together with bars, boulangeries, banks, a postal office, restaurants. Maria is a fantastic receptionist. Hotel was okay, staff friendly and competent.Short distance to public traffic, supermarkets and restaurants very close. Unfortunately it was very hot in Paris and with the windows open it was very loud due to the bus stop directly in front of the hotel.

there was not air conditioning on my room (and Paris is very warm on summer). The bathroom and furnitures was very old. The cleaning personal knocked on my door every morning, waking me up. The shower didn't have a courtain or a holder on the wall. It was the most expensive and the worst quality hotel on my travel to europe.

This is a very nice, small hotel. Very good connections to city centre by metro.Metro stop just 2 min walk from hotel. Room was clean but not too big. Good enough. Only one inconvenience: in the morning noise from the street when you have opened window (buses and waste collections)

The Hotel Virgina has a lovely reception and extremely helpful people working on the desk, the majority of whome, spoke great English. They told us the best routes to take, where to find local good restaurants and gave us good general advice. The only thing that let down the stay slightly, was the room. I know it was cheap by Paris standards but it was very old inside - the bathroom was ancient and we had the same towels everyday and as there wasn't really anywhere for them to hang to dry properly by the end of the stay I was quite glad to be rid of them! There were some cracks in the walls and one corner of the room looked like it could do with being replastered. Having said this; we weren't in the room much and it didn't bother my boyfriend and I particularly. It just seemed a slight shame after downstairs being so beautiful and the hallways are nice also. They hoovered the room everyday and kept it clean so even though it was old, they did their best with it. I did peek in some other rooms when they were cleaning and all the ones I saw looked nicer than ours so we could have just been unlucky! I would recommend this hotel; it's very easy to get to from the Eurostar terminal at Gare du Nord - just get on the metro (can't remember quite which one) but there are no changes and when you get off at the other end there's a two minute walk to the hotel. The area feels safe, even at night and there are plenty of places to eat nearby and lots of supermarkets.

This is a very nice 2 star hotel, super-convenient to bus and metro transport - in fact a couple of buses stop within 25 metres of the door. The reception staff were extremely helpful on matters of transport and anything else we needed to know. The room was a little cramped for a family of 4, but we still managed to shower and sleep very well after tramping around Paris all day. Just up the road, on the next corner is a friendly Boulangerie where we could have breakfast and even get snacks in the evening. Just down the road is a supermarket. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Paris for a few days.

The owners and employees are extremely polite and always willing to meet the customers expectations. It is extremely well located and the rooms are well decorated and have all the necessary services. My only complain is in repect to the mattress since they are TOO soft for me, but I would definitely stay there again. I highly recommend it.

The location of this hotel is excellent, right off the subway station Porte D'Orlean. This location allows you to go anywhere quite easily. The price is not too bad but not the greatest either. There are two nice supermarkets nearby and so easy to have access to food and anything else. The daytime staff were wonderful and helpful, they also speak English. But I notice the nitght time front person was not so welcoming and not as optimistic and friendly. The rooms were a good size and people that require a big washroom then should book this hotel because I've heard of other horror stories where people had to sit sideway on the toilet because they were so small. I find the bathroom quite spacious. The rooms were clean but kind of old. The picture on the webside only showed the amenities downstairs on the main floor and the so the actual rooms were a lot older. I would definately go back to the same hotel if I were to visit Paris again if I'm on a budget.

We have only positive things to say about hotel Virgina! (We even stayed one night longer than originally planned) The staff was very helpful and always smiling! Also the children felt very welcome, even though they dont understand english or french. We went by local bus directly to the Notre Dame, the bus station is 150 metres from the front door. The hotel satff told us which bus numbers to take. We did have some trouble finding the hotel the first night(we came by car), but a nice man, walking his dog, drew us a map! Hotel Virgina is abosolutely reccomended by us!

The area, even if not central, is well connected and by metro or bus we can easly reach any areas of Paris. I think this hotel is a good balance between quality of services and price.

The Hotel Virgina was a very good value, and we were even pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay there. True, it is not centrally-located; however, it is literally only one and a half blocks from the train station. We were able to visit any site in Paris within a few minutes' train ride. The neighborhood is very quaint, safe, clean and quiet. If you are in the mood for a drink after hours, though, you can still walk a short distance to a neighborhood cafe. It was perfect. The hotel staff was very accomodating-- we were not the strongest French-speakers, but the ladies at the front desk were so sweet and considerate. Our room was small, but still very nice, recently renovated and extremely clean (the cleaning staff visited every morning, too). Our petite balcony also added to the charm. I highly recommend this little gem in Montparnasse!

Small but otherwise excellent value for money. Add to this the extreme helpfullness of the owner and staff and the close proximity to transport and it is an ideal base for Paris exploration. When my spouse got muscle spasms, the owners even gave us some medications which we needed and they had but we could not get late at night. All their advice was spot on. We only wish the web info had told us to go to the station 1 past Gare du Nord on the train from the airport because then we would have only needed three Metro stops to the hotel.

Wonderful hotel. The staff was very competent and the rooms were an excellent value. The price of €75 for this level of quality in Paris is outstanding. The location near the Port d'Orleans metro stop is excellent. When we arrived with our car, the woman on duty had personally shown me where the parking garage was. This is also an excellent value for €15 per day in a secure parking garage about 50 meters from the hotel. We are in Paris about once per year and will stay here again. I believe this will become our standard location in Paris. Note: for breakfast there is bakery at the end of the small street that runs behind the hotel.

The hotel was so close to the Port d'Orleans metro stop and one of the main bus terminals, so getting around Paris was easy. The hotel is beautiful. It has an old fashioned but small iron elevator. But small elevators are typical in smaller hotels. The staff was so friendly and accomodating, they made us feel very welcome. My only complaint is that their website stated internet connection, which is not true. However, I was able to connect to available wireless systems surrounding the hotel, although the connection at times was weak. All in all it was a wonderful stay, and I would recommend it highly.

Clean and welcoming place in a safe non-touristy neighborhood, just 2-3 blocks from Port d'Orleans. If you use the Metro, this is very convenient as the 4 line connects directly with most every other line and it's easy to get around. You can be in the Latin Quarter or St. Germain or the Louvre or Notre-Dame in a few minutes. Lots of useful stuff close by, including a supermarket, inexpensive internet, greengrocers, and many restaurants. Staff was helpful. Lobby is roomy and nicely decorated. Rooms, though a tad small--which didn't bother me as I had little luggage--are prettier than they need to be for the price. Large groups and families might have a little trouble with the size of the rooms and tiny cage-like elevator, but I'd definitely recommend this place for most budget travelers. PS--I didn't try their 8-euro morning buffet so can't comment on it, but most hotel breakfasts are overpriced by comparison with a visit to the local patisserie.

Hotel Virginia met my Paris expectations as I had none. The 14th Arrondissement is not downtown Paris but quick access plus you get to see how the locals live, eat and drink.
