Just arrived back from a 3 night stay at Villa Fenelon. Our double room although quite small was very clean and we think recently redecorated. Our room was across the small garden so we had views over the garden which was pretty although you could smell the smoke from people sitting out there which for non smokers on a warm day is not pleasant. We found the staff to be helpful especially with directions to places and the use of the metro. All in all a very nice stay in a lovely hotel well recommended.

Somewhere between run down and dilapidated; stained carpets, cracked mirrors, rotting damp wood by the bath. There's docorator's supplies lying about the public areas so perhaps they will renovate.

The Villa Fenlon is in a quiet side street just off a main road leading to Galeries Lafayette. The metro station Cadet is just minutes away or you could stroll to the Grand Boulevards in 10 or 15 mins if you want. Several cafes and restaurants nearby (La Violette de Lafayette is recommended - traditional French meals at sensible prices, in new decor). The area around the hotel feels safe, though it's not particularly smart. The area is not touristy but a place where people live and work, with local shops including a useful supermarket. Hotel has old-world charm in public rooms - and a garden. My first floor bedroom facing the street had no night time noise from the street. (The hotel faces a church.) The corridor carpets upstairs are due for renewal - my only real criticism! Genuinely free wi-fi works well in public lounges, intermittent upstairs.I would stay here again.

For a 2-star hotel I think it is over-priced - over 100 euros, a hike in the price compared with when I stayed here 18 months ago. But the fact is that I do like this hotel. The abundance of mirrors, the colour-scheme, a certain 'lived in' feel (frankly, decadent), the very eclectic decoration (prints of Venice, horses by Stubbs in the breakfast room, middle-Eastern items, a violin, a Dali-esque D. Quixote) are very much to my taste, even if the combination is a little bizarre. The breakfast is continental - simple but nicely done.

The breakfast was a minimal continental one, served on a tray with coffee or tea, no cheese or meat or choice of roll/baguette/cereal. Staff courteous, not specially helpful. Convenient location near good cafes, bus & Metro, 10 minutes walk from Gare du Nord. Signed JM & SRS, Surrey UK.

The pictures of Villa Fenelon looked better than when you actually see the hotel. The furniture can be improved and upgraded especially for price you pay. The location was very good though, easy access to metro and walking distance to sights. the staff were nice and accommodating. The lift/elevator needs to be improved because it only fits 1 person with small luggage! It was hard to operate and hard to squeeze into. Bathrooms can be improved to fit design and theme of French country of the hotel. Overall, I think the hotel is overated and they should lower their rates.

The complete opposite of a faceless, corporate hotel, this quirky place is full of surprises and in a great location. For the visitor to Paris who wants something a bit different, this place delivers. Spacious public rooms, large bedrooms, unusual (mirror based) decor, a beautiful courtyard, good breakfasts. The only downside was that the mattresses on the beds needed replacing - the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on in a hotel and the rooms at the front get the noise from the 4.30 am waste collection (so ask for a courtyard room/check the beds). This place may not be to everyone's taste but for location and value (mattresses aside), it is hard to beat.

Breakfast in the garden on my second morning was very noisy, as there were men carting scaffolding poles through and doing work on removing the ivy from the walls. Generally, however, the hotel was a good place to stay and in a great location, a stone's throw from Cadet metro. If you are looking for somewhere good to eat locally, I recommend Bistrot Papillon on Rue Papillon, which is very close, and far better than most of the other local restaurants.

very good place to stay. we were pleasantly surprised how quiet the hotel was, and yet so convenient with the metro minutes away and the main road with plenty of choice of restaurants etc. plus three late night supermarkets. Another big plus is it's only about a 15min walk to gares nord and est so you can save the hassle of the metro steps and changes; and it's also an easy walk to the louvre. the included breakfast is adequate and served with a hearty smile and greetings for the day, and the breakfast room overlooking the courtyard garden v pleasant too. I would go back there.

The carpeting in the hotel was filthy, it needs replacement. The floor of my room was sticky, I couldn't stand to let my bare feet touch them. The rooms were non-smoking but someone had smoked in each of our rooms. The aroma in my son's room was particularly bad. He woke up feeling like he had smoked himself. The rooms had mirror paneling. We found that off putting. My son called it the Narcissist Hotel. Otherwise, the color scheme and decor of the hotel was nice. The breakfast area was pleasant as was the garden. The continental breakfast was very good. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is central to shopping and the Opera and has easy access to two Metro stops. It not pleasant during the day but at night it was vibrant and fun. For being in a city, the rooms we had were quiet enough. There is a lift which was good because we had a lot of luggage. It is a tiny one that fit two people without luggage. We used the stairs while the luggage was sent up on the lift.

Clean, small rooms. Mirrors on 2 of four walls and on the backs of the doors... mirrors and gilded furniture in the public spaces.... lots of glitz! Rooms not as pretty as in the picture, but clean and serviceable. Nothing to rave about, but good for the price. About a good 10 min walk from the nearest subway station, and right next to a synagogue (not sure if Friday nights would be loud?) Oh and there is an elevator, but only two people with NO bags can fit in it. Breakfast is included which is fantastic and they will even serve it in your room at the hour you request. All in all a nice serviceable room.

The hotel meets all the basic needs. Hotel staff were friendly, especially a young worker called Faycal who was really helpful and speaks good English. I liked the garden view and the quietness of the location. Breakfast was good. I stayed there 2 nights longer due to the Iceland volcano and the hotel did not increase the rate like many other hotels. In fact at the time of checkout I found out that the rate was lowered for which I assumed is due to my daughter's absence. My suggestion is to add a English speaking TV channel (like CNN) for the non-French speakers to connect with the world.

The hotel is a nice classic French building that would definetelly need more renovation though (ie carpets, curtains etc). The whole experience -the room, the service, the breakfast- wasn't bad but it wasn't great either! At least it wasn't expensive, especially if you think how expensive Paris is in general! And the location is absolutelly great! Very close to two metro stations which made it very easy to go to all the places we wanted to visit.

There is free Wifi internet (by cell-phone/Computer) in the hotel and only the internet in the lobby is charged. Note that there are 2 wings in the hotel: one with an elevator and one without (a very very small one) and as the hotel has a few floors you should consider asking for the elevator wing if necessary. The wing with the elevator also has rooms turning to a small street while the rooms in the other wing turn only to the garden and are much quieter (we stayed in 2 different rooms as we went out of Paris for a few days and checked in again to a different room). The rooms space seemed standard to a 2 star hotel in a big city. It is important to mention that the rooms we've stayed in were renovated (LCD TV, new shower etc). There is also a minibar that you can use to cool your drinks in the summer. The hotel is full of mirrors (a bathroom in one of the rooms we stayed was an actual "mirror room") - we thought that it was cool, but we can understand why people may find it disturbing. The best way to get to the hotel from CDG Airport is not to the RER station mentioned - ask information/look in the map where to switch from the RER to the Metro in the city (I think Gare Nord station) and get to a Metro station called "Cadet" - 2 min from the hotel (and a straight line to the Louvre as well). WE RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL, it is very nice, great location (close to Sacre Coeur) and perfect for the price.

The hotel is only a couple of minute's walk to Cadet Metro station and 10-15 minutes walk to Montmartre or Gare Du Nord. It is located in a typical Parisian street with a number of eating places nearby. Our room and en suite were small but adequate. Just ignore all the mirrors. The double bed was actually larger than expected. The lift can only accommodate one person and one suitcase at a time. The hotel is well located for public transport. However, if we were considering staying again, we would like to think that the breakfasts had been improved. Perhaps some cereals and fruit could be added to the roll and croissant which was provided every day.

This hotel was in a superb location, and it was very easy to access just about anywhere in Paris from the close by metro and buses. If you're up to walking then it's not too far from lots of attractions - and very close to the huge Galleries Lafayette for those who like to shop! The rooms we had (a double for my husband and I, and a single for my octogenarian grandma) were on the small side but then again so are all rooms in Paris...but as we just used the hotel as a base they were perfectly adequate. Everything was clean and tidy, and although there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, the staff were only too happy to provide us with pots of tea/coffee at a decent 2 euros each - and I challenge anyone to find a cuppa (let alone a big pot) at these rates anywhere else in Paris! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel had lots of areas for guests to sit and while away the odd half hour or so - I think the garden area would be lovely to sit in when the weather gets better too. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visting Paris looking for something a little quirky and charming, rather than another generic brand hotel. I would also like to recommend a restaurant called 'Restaurant St Michael' just south of the river from Pont Neuf (heading towards Notre Dame) for a wonderful french menu at good prices and with lovely friendly staff.

We stayed here for 2 nights in Dec 08 on a short trip to Paris. The hotel has a rather quirky interior... someones obviously told them that mirrors make rooms look bigger as these are a major feature of the hotel. Our bathroom was entirely mirrored and I do mean totally! not a room for someone with body image issues. The lift was a really old fashioned tiny cage lift which we loved. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable, we heard no noise at all, there were plenty of additional blankets / pillows and the heating worked well. The room had a mini bar which was well stocked (expensive as you would expect) and in room safe which was only 1euro per day to use. The breakfast was adequate nothing to shout about but filled the gap (tea/coffee fruit juice croissant and a bread roll). The location was great we walked to alot of the major tourist sites easily (louve, concorde, montmarte, sacre coeur, opera house) and the nearest tube station was literally 2 minutes walk. There were lots of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby (I'd recommeded the little Italian place on the corner of the road - we had a 3 course set meal for 14euros) Overall this was a great place to stay, accomodation was the standard you would expect from 2* but the quirky features of the hotel make it an interesting place to stay. The rooms were a little shabby and the outside doesn't look the best but it was clean and welcoming inside and the location made it a great base for a first time visitor to explore the city.

I have been there for a couple of days, and It was a very pleasant stay. It's a 2 star hotel, so you won't expect the concierge as welcoming, but the atmosphere is relaxing and quaint even the room was not really spacious (good choice to put mirrors throughout the hotel, that let feel it more wide, but probably there were too many in the room).Perfect for a short holiday. Breakfast with room service was included in the rent!!! I never had breakfast in the breakfast room, so I don't know if might be any difference in the selection and varieties of food and beverages, but was enough having coffee, bread, butter and jam, juice and one very good croissant.

Hotel quite clean, especially considering the number of mirrors! Lower mark for cleanliness was due to wine cork on floor and takeaway container lid under bed. Hot chocolate for breakfast was absolutely delicious

For the price of the room the quality of the hotel was very good. On a quiet little street, not too far from the Metro and within walking distance to Opera, Galeries Lafayette etc, it was a good place to stay.

We are young couple. We stay in double room. The hotel is very near to centre. The room was very small but it is Paris standard, but it was clean and quiet. We were in last floor with view to synagoga. The hotel look very familiar and friendly and also staff was very friendly and helpful. It is very romantic hotel full with mirrors. Just one thing wasn't good - some of mirrors were broken and it looks dangerous for example for kids. In every case we were very satisfied and we enjoy stay in this hotel and probably we would use again when we will travel to Paris.

It was impossible to use the room phone due to indolence of hotel staff. On check out the bill was overpriced for 40 EU, after talk with owner of hotel he said that was mistake without apology.

A cockroach on a towel, a guy at 10 AM who tried to clean out our room without knocking just entering, a bit cold, non-working electric socket. Surroundings are great, metro nearby, not far from Gare du Nord, small hotel with a home atmosphere. Breakfast is included, that's good and handy. Rooms are not really nice while they are ok for 1 night stay. We could not have lived there more.

We have been at Villa Fenelon in November and I have to say that it was a small room but clean, the breakfast in the room every morning was quite good. In general, the hotel is very good even if it needs reparations in the room (walls, beds, furniture). As about the price I think that it was a little expensive. In Greece we would have payed for this room no more than 60 euro, but it is Paris!

The hotel and the staff people were nice and once you know the place it's just 2 minute walk from the nearest CADET station. One of the aged receptionist was not friendly to Asian customer, but other receptionists and other staff members were all supportive and was great stay there !

The hotel is in an excellent location, reasonable walking distance to St Michel and le Marais, in a quiet side street and 2 minutes from the tube station. Reception area, decorated in a 1900s style is warmly lit and spacious. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The lift seems 'd'epoque' and consequently too small to be practical but we used it only once. The room was reasonably spacious although for longer stay wardrobe space would be tight. The window was double glazed and the room was warm and quiet. The room was clean but showed signs of wear and tear particularly the bathroom. Last but not least, the price was decent. We had an excellent stay and will certainly go back.

lovely little hotel o quiet street, with a beautiful garden courtyard, good breakfast, and quaint antique but functional tiny elevator. One room we had was pleasantly decoraratd, the other was very tacky but humorous [mirrors everywhere]. Nearby food store convenient for snacks, wine etc.

Villa Fenelon was in a good location, extremely close to the metro, in a quiet side street. The reception area was very pleasant, and the interior courtyard garden charming. Staff were friendly and helpful: something one does not always find in Paris. The breakfast was good value, although the decor in the breakfast room rather tired and consequently looked slightly grubby. Our triple room with bath was more spacious than other rooms I have shared with my kids in Paris, but the decor was poor. It did not seem dirty, but looked grubby as it desperately needed to be redecorated. The tiles in the bathroom were in need of replacement. However, my girls and I felt that overall the hotel had a quirky Parisian charm that outweighed the standard of the decor in parts of the building. On departure day, I had the chance to see a couple of other vacant rooms: again they were quite spacious by Parisian hotel standards and they had obviously been redecorated much more recently. I suspect we were unlucky and that the triple room my be the next on the list for refurbishment - but I did not actually ask the staff if this were the case. The price for a room of this standard in this area seemed fair; it was only a 2 star after all. My daughters preferred it to a much smarter 2 star in the Quartier Latin, which had lost character through modernisation and had much smaller rooms and poky shower rooms. If you haven't got a lot of money to spend, want to show the kids Paris and don't intend to spend a lot of time in your hotel room anyway, Villa Fenelon is a good choice for 3/4 nights max.

Excellent value for money & included breakfast, it felt like a little bit of old Paris with some lovely original features including the single person lift which was gorgeous. My single room was great, modern style, nice white bathroom with hairdrier and clean towels every day, clean and comfortable room with TV and handy fridge. I also found the mirrors strange, how they kept them sparkling l don't know. It was quiet and central near 2 Metro's, it was lovely having breakfast in the garden. l would recomend it to anyone looking for a nice budget hotel in a perfect spot for getting to all the sights. I had such a nice time, thanks to all.

Excellent location in the city. You can walk to different directions to reach different monuments in Paris. You can reach Place Concorde, Madeleine, Opera Garnier, Montmartre on foot, ~15min walk. Rooms are not spacious. Poor quality breakfast. In sum, good value for your money.

We arrived to the hotel and were told that our room was not available anymore! At least they offered us another room in another hotel, on a 15-min walk from the first one. But this was not the welcome we expected after our travel to Paris!

We could get a reasonable price for last minutue booking including breakfast(some bread, orange juice and hot drink). We booked two triple rooms; one was big enough with 1 double bed and single bed and another was small with 1 double bed and 1 extra bed. The rooms are a bit worn out, but clean. The location is really good, very close to several metro stations and walk distance to Opera, but still quiet. The hotel is good for a short stay in Paris.

Difficult to find the road, even on Paris street map, but delightful oasis -- we had rooms across a garden, and breakfasted outside. (If it had been raining, there didn't really seem to be enough room inside). Very convenient for metro (Cadet) and from there to Gares de l'Est and Nord. Lovely big room and bathroom, though mirrored surfaces a bit frightening!

The hotel was very centrally located. The decor is quite Bohemian I guess a little shabby but kinda goes with the BOHO mood. A lovely garden to relax in after the long day sightseeing which was great. The lift has to be experienced. About the size of a phone booth and a tight squeeze for two girlies with small backpacks but it worked everytime! Rooms a little bigger than I expected. The room was clean and well serviced. The bathroom was a little antiquated could do with upgrade. Shower head was a little tricky but water pressure and temp good. Did I mention the mirrors lots of mirrors in rooms, lobby, garden they do like their mirrors. The breakfast was included and we ate in the garden each morning. Breakfast consisted of breadrolls, croissants and preserves with coffee/tea /chocolate and juice very nice. A quirky little hotel basic but good centrally located and clean with breakfast so not bad.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, speak good English as well. Villa Fenelon is very convenient located, close to the subway station Cadet, many Supermarkets closeby, close to Opera Garnier, LaFayette and other shopping. It is also not far to walk up to Sacre Ceour, neither to Notre Dame and Louvren. The little garden is nice to sit in while eating breakfast. I do recommend other travellers to stay in this hotel, you get a lot for the money, breakfast is not usually included in the hotelprice in Paris. Also take a short walk to Grands Boulevard, here you find nice and cheap restaurants, little further down against Les Halles are even more restaurants on the street Montorgueil.

Cute, well located place, with tiny but cosy rooms. Elevator is too loud, also insufficient sound protection btw rooms - as usual in this price range. At one night at midnight neighbour started airing radio at full blast for hours with no one interfering! Breakfast is ok - also, no plastic chairs (big plus!).
