The description+ pictures on their website were misleading. Our room was very small and looked shabby. It was a scary green throughout and with internet too weak to use email. The bathroom was tiny. It was quite a walk to either metro station. We have paid less for a MUCH better hotel right in central Paris in the past (sadly that one was booked out)

The location is not great. It's fairly far from the Metro and no one seemed to know how to give directions. Even some of the taxi drivers near the closest metro didn't know how to get there, so I walked, at midnight. Most of the desk staff weren't friendly or helpful. This is the only Venere hotel that I don't recommend.

Overall it was the hotel was alright. Staff were helpful and friendly, particularly the one who helped me with some essential French phrases. Kudos to her. However, the location is really not so great as it is pretty far from the city centre and even the metro. It took us 15-20 minutes walk on average from there to the metro. Alternatively you can take the bus, but as it only goes in one way, you also have to be very clear what stop you need to get off. Also, it wouldn't be such a great idea for female travellers travelling on their own to stay here. The walk from the metro to the hotel isn't always brightly-lit and there can be some dodgy people on the metro especially since it's the 2nd last stop on the line no. 4 and the coach tends to be mostly empty. The room we got was a bit stuffy with the windows closed, but if you opened it, it was quite noisy at night.

For the price, the Villa Du Maine was excellent value. It was a room for one person and was basically wrapped around the elevator shaft so it was loud. But, if you are a single traveler, not in the hotel room much and able to sleep through elevator noise, and noise from other guests it's okay. The hotel is far from the closest metro stop so I would only recommend it to people who don't mind walking or taking the bus. It is not in a vibrant part of Paris and if single women are hesitant about walknig on a quiet street late at night I would not recommend this hotel.

My main issue was with noise. The walls were so thin, that you could hear any door in the entire hotel being shut, and i was woken up during the night many times by noise from other rooms.

The hotel gave us Room No. 22. This room is specially horrible, with no space to walk, humidity, dark, etc. We complain about this and the hotel gave us a new room. This one was good, no humidity and space to walk. I wouldn't recommended this hotel, it's so far from the downtown, and most of the rooms are not confortable.

We stayed here in early October, sadly my wife broke her ankle, the staff were very helpful with arranging nursing help, taxi's and changed our room to the ground floor. Overall our impression of the staff was that they went out of their way to help. The surrounding area is a good walk to the metro, and a very quick walk to great food places. We would recommend this hotel to our friends, and would stay here again.

Had a room for four persons. There were just 2 quite small beds to sleep in, however in two very small separate connected rooms. Haven't slept so bad for many years. The wall were quite poor, the bathroom minimal. But it wasn't dirty, we didn't see any bugs in the room and there were no criminal activity going around nearby the hotel. So it was quite good.

We had very nice stay there in Villa du Maine. The surrounding area was nice and everything such as supermarket, restaurants, cafes, bakery, phone and internet shops and transportation was handy and easy to access. The employees were really helpfull, friendly and English speaking. The price was reasonable considering the quality of hotel and its services.

Very good reletion between price/quality. We stayed in a double room for seven nights (58 Euro for two persons per night). The hotel is placed in a quiet district. We had no problem in getting any kind of information from hotel staff (generally in english, but suprisingly one of the recepcionists speaks also polish). The room was a bit small, but most of the time we spent visiting Paris, so it wasn't so troublesome.

We were three people and stayed for 5 nights in one room. As young people and tourists that were in Paris to see and experience as much as possible, it was not significant to have an expensive and high quality hotel. The hotel staff is friendly and speaks english. The elevator didn't function on the first and on the last day of our stay. The hotel has 5 floors. We were three people accommodated in double room. The first two days there were two beds and one mattress. On the third day the mattress was changed with a bed. The bathroom was OK. At the second night the light in our room didn't work. Good that the TV and the light in the bathroom worked. The hotel staff needed 3 days to repair the light, they said the technician came not although they informed him about the problem. Like true tourists we came late in the evening to have a sleep and went out in the morning, and the lack of room light was not a huge problem. The room was clean. The hotel offers a breakfast in the morning, but I bought always croissants from the neighborhood bread shops at the way to metro station Plaisance. They are very delicious! This metro station is about 7-10 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is OK and would recommend it to young people who pay not much money for the stay and are in it to sleep and have a bath.

I spent 2 nights on my own for a Rugby game during the world cup. Would be embarrassed to bring my girlfriend away for a weekend here. Fine for a bloke just looking for a place to keep your stuff and get a few hours sleep if away with the lads for a night or 2 max. You get what you pay for. The room was very simple to the point where I would question even its 2 star status. I got a room just off the lobby on the ground floor so could be noisy and with full lenght windows, opening them for a little air at night would give anyone to the rear of the hotel access to the room.

It was a very nice hotel. Nice staff, very good service. A little bit difficult, because they can only speak french, but at the end I did understand! It's nearby the Metro, so you are in 15 min. in the centre of Paris. In the neighbourhood are very much nice shops, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets and there is a nice sphere. It was a quiet hotel, only I slept behind the very old lift and it maked very much noise so I didn't sleep very well.

This was a great spot for an overnight stay or for someone who doesn't plan to spend too much time in the room. It was very small even for someone on the small side like me. The neighbourhood is very nice - quiet, leafy and residential but with plenty of restaurants and other amenities on nearby cross streets. I recommend Les Artistes around the corner on Didot. Montparnasse Station is a short Metro ride away - I recommend using the Plaisance station as it is a shorter and more pleasant walk than Alesia.

Rooms are really very small - if somebody have claustrophobia, should think about it. About municipal communication - in hotel description is suggestion, that metro station Alesia is the suggested communication point. Better is to use new tram line with a stop Didot (3 times shorter distance, than from Alesia). General overview - nice tourist hotel in quite district of the city.

Instead of a twin room, we got a room with four beds, which were the only furniture - no table, no chairs. The paint was flaking off the walls. The best of the room was the bath room, which was clean and ok. The hotel is quite far away (5-10 min walk) to the next metro station. I would recommend this hotel for young people looking for a cheap accommodation. Though, compared to other 2-star hotels in Paris, this one was clearly the worse I've seen.

Very small room, very small bathroom, towels with holes, walls with holes, the zapper didn't work, the building is very noisy, the location is far from almost everything. BUT the staff was welcoming, friendly, there's an elevator, the price (even though it is expensive) was correct compared to many other hotels. Will I will stay in this hotel again? Maybe, if the price is still correct.

Tje room(No.10)where I stayed was very clean. The employees are very frendly and helpful. But I heard much noise from next door and so on. And also there is a small smoking corner (a ashtrey on the wall) just next to the door of my room, so if someone smoke, smoke gets into the room, which is horrible and stinky!

Very friendly & helpful customer service. Our triple room was quite small, but is was still good value for the price. The only negative was the parking facilities that are located a few blocks away for a cost of €22 per day. This was a thrifty hotel which was very disappointing. We expected rooms looking like those in the pictures but we got a tiny, shabby and musty room. We had a tv with no working channels, broken hairdryer, and a bathroom the size of a cubicle. The guy in charge was unwelcoming and condescending. We were told to check out at 11 (usual time 12 for most hotels) after a rude call (at 11!). The metro was far away and took 20 mins to the hotel from there. You will get better hotels with air conditioning paying a bit more (this one was burning hot in summer).

We reserved a double room with two separate beds, upon arrival we were presented with an extremely small single room (# 31) with a queen size bed, the reaon was that it was fully booked. The room had a been in extreme need of rennovation for a good decade, it had a nauseous smell, and the wallpaper was coming off the walls. With the outrageous price of 140 euros per night and the arrogant staff, this is, without comparison, the worst hotel hotel I have ever stayed in in Western Europe.
