THE RECEPTIONIST ON ARRIVAL WAS VERY UNHELPFUL - TO THE EXTENT THAT I WAS NOT EVEN TOLD WHERE TO GO TO GET TO MY ROOM. HE GAVE ME THE LEAST AMOUNT OF INFORMATION POSSIBLE - I HAD TO ASK FOR A MAP OF THE AREA AND I DIDN'T FEEL THAT I COULD ASK HIM ANYTHING FURTHER ABOUT IT. HIS FRIENDLINESS DID NOT IMPROVE FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY STAY. THERE WERE 2 RECEPTIONISTS DURING MY STAY AND THE OTHER ONE WAS VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. THE ROOM THAT I GOT WAS CLEAN BUT ON THE SMALL SIDE. AS I WAS TRAVELLING ON MY OWN AND NOT SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME IN THE ROOM I DIDN'T MIND THIS TOO MUCH BUT THE ROOM WOULD BE QUITE TIGHT FOR A COUPLE SHARING. THE HOTEL WAS EXTREMELY NOISY AT NIGHT. THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT DRILLING SOUND AND FOR MOST OF THE TIME THERE WAS WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A WASHING MACHINE/TUMBLE DRIER. I CHOSE THE HOTEL BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION AS I WAS ATTENDING AN EVENT THAT WAS CLOSE BY. IT IS VERY CLOSE TO THE ODEON METRO STATION. THE AREA IS NICE - PLENTY OF NICE RESTAURANTS. IT APPEARED TO BE A SAFE AREA AS WELL. I DO NOT THINK THE HOTEL IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY - I PAID €560 FOR 4 NIGHTS BED AND BREAKFAST AND I THINK THIS WAS ABOUT €150 TO €200 TOO EXPENSIVE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE HOTEL WAS REDECORATED RECENTLY AND WHILST THE DECOR WAS GOOD (PARTICULARLY IN THE COMMON AREAS) I FEEL THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF THINGS LEFT UNFINISHED AND THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. I MIGHT RETURN TO THE HOTEL BUT THIS DECISION WOULD SOLELY BE BASED ON IT'S LOCATION. I INTEND RETURNING TO THE LOCATION AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I WOULD CHECK OUT THE OTHER HOTELS IN THE AREA TO FIND ONE THAT IS BETTER VALUE.

Very nice little hotel in a great area of the latin quarter, near the Odeon Metro station. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, put us in a larger room the second night. We'd definitely stay there again. The price was good for Paris.

This hotel is located on the Left Bank midway among the Sorbonne, the Luxembug Gardens, and the San Germain/San Michelle intersection...a great location! Close to the metro and walking distance from Notre Dame. Nearby restaurants--Le Polidor and Le Petit Prince--offered fabulous food. The lamb and chicken at Le Polidor were spectacular and reasonable. The hotel desk clerks were kind, helpful, and personable. We loved our stay at Villa des Princes.

I would definately stay here again. Our top floor room was clean, quite and very conveniently situated, both in terms of transportation and points of interest. The rooms were a bit small (and the elevator comically so), but probably better than average for a Paris hotel in this price range.

The hotel was located in an excellent area. Very close to transportation, restaurants, services. The room was small, but that was expected. The hotel was very well run. The front desk was very helpful. We highly recommend Villa des Princes.

Very nice, clean property. Traveling with six others, we had nearly half the rooms. Interior rooms were very quiet. Street facing rooms were a bit noisy with late night street noise, but nothing major. A great little property in a great location. Will return in 2009!

Very nice stay. The room was nice, clean and fairly spacious. The location was very good, walking distance to St. Germain. The elevator was the strangest I've ever seen, oddly shaped, and large enough for only one person. This was really only an issue when the maid was using it during her cleaning. Other than that - very nice stay!

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The reviews I ahd read, indicating good quality but relatively small rooms were accurate. The only thing I can think to add is that I wish I ahd known I couldn't order a coffee and pastry at the breakfast room without PRE-ordering the whole breakfast. Overall, a great stay in a nice area, close to almost everything.

I'd like to offer the nice Villa des Princes hotel, it's staying close to Odeon subway station. The hotel rooms are tiny!!! ..but, you have to know the breakfast fee it's not including in the room price! Have a nice trip in Paris!

The Hotel Villa Des Princes had a problem with the room we were supposed to stay in but they moved us to a hotel across the street called Hotel Delavigne - 3 star with very nice rooms and big windows that you hope for when you are in Paris. Great location. Steps from the Odeon metro stop and five minutes from Notre Dame. TONS of restaurants in the area. Best is a block from the hotel... one of the best in Paris called Le Comptoir, but you have to book 6 months in advance. The chef sets the menu, no deviations but leave yourself in his capable hands for an outstanding meal.

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon in Paris and had a great stay at this hotel, if not perfect. Room was nicely decorated, it was cleaned every day and well arranged for space (not like we spent much time at the hotel anyway). LOCATION is perfect. You can walk to many Major Touristic Sites from here (Notre Dame, Louvre, Gendarmerie, Hotel de Ville, etc) and at night you can take nice walks through the Latin Quartier where there are always people out playing music, dancing, all kinds of things. The english of the personnel was not perfect but good enough to answer any question and always willing to do so. We never had breakfast in the hotel because it was not included in the price, but there's lots of coffee shops and restaurants close by. What can i say, I wish we could've stayed more days!

Unfortunately, when I showed up at the Villa des Princes, the clerk apologetically told me that my room was unusable due to water damage to the floor and that the previous guests had also stolen the window curtains! I guess there was only one single room available for the dates of my stay since it is a small, 12-room hotel. It was a bit of a shock. Instead, the hotel made an arrangement for me to stay at a 3-star hotel, the Hotel Delavigne which was just up the street on Rue Casimir DelaVigne. The room was quite spacious for a single in Paris, a bit more modern than the Villa des Princes and it was quite nice to be upgraded from a 2-star property. The DelaVigne desk clerks were very efficient and pleasant to deal with and I had a really nice stay. The area is very convenient. You're just around the corner from the Odeon Metro which puts you in the heart of the Left Bank activities either in the 5th or 6th arrondisement which has wonderful restaurants and shops. It's a great location for walking. Up the street is the Luxembourg Gardens where you can exercise in the morning or evening or just to people watch.

We were 8 people and were staying from thursday to sunday. The room was small but charming. The hotel is situated very near to everything, and in addition it is in a small street with very little trafficnoice. I recommend the hotel, and would like to go back. Nice hotel for a very good price.

I must admit this was my first time in a paris hotel, but overall it was just OK. The room was tiny, you couldnt even open the bathroom door all the way for lack of space in the room. It was a bit like parking in a compact car space with a Cadillac. They were friendly enough. The website made it sound like breakfast was included which was not honored. The location was great! St Germain des Pres is a vibrant part of town and we enjoyed some wonderful meals. For the adventurous, head out to Montmartre or Clignancourt and see a much more vibrant, less white bread version of Paris. The food is more adventurous in the outlying areas as well as less expensive. For families, I also recommend the Batobus to get around the central part of Paris.

After searching for somewhere pictured in the photograph I found the unassuming sidestreet doorway to the Hotel Des Ecoles. The porter was not at all helpful and allowed me to struggle into the coffin sized lift with my baggage. I paid upfront for the stay and wished I hadn't when I arrived in the room.... I'd specifically reserved a "chambre superior" and was expecting something at least as good as the room pictured. What I found instead was a cramped double room, with just enough room to move around the sides of the bed, which by the way was two singles pushed together. The "view" was of an interior space between the neighbouring buildings and the less said about that the better. The bathroom wasn't bad, lacking a bidet and once again a very cramped space. The Bath was a decent size, however, this was looking like it hadn't been cleaned in several weeks. Inside the room there was also a 12" TV, I didn't bother with it. I also didn't bother with any room service or food in the hotel, I wasn't entirely sure if any were available mind you... Overall not a vastly unpleasant experience, but definitely not up to the expectations I'd had based on reading this page. I would have been happy to stay in this room at a more sensible rate, but having dished out €150 per night I expected something better. I wouldn't stay here again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I liked. (Or anyone I didn't like for that matter.)

We had to change room after the first night because our room was not available when we checked in. The water in the shower was barely warm and the hotel did not respond to our complaint. Located in an ideal spot, plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distant. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and do not intent to spend much time in your room this is for you.

Very convenient, very pleasant, around the corner from Boulevard Saint Germain, five minutes walk to Left Bank booksellers, Ile de Cite, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens. A great small hotel very reasonably priced. A quiet room, charming and comfortable. Pubs, restaurants, bookstores next door, here in the Sorbonne neighborhood. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

Our stay at Des Ecoles was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff were very helful and accommodating; the room was small although adequate for our needs and extremely quiet. The best attribute however, was the location of the hotel. Very close to the metro with an abundance of excellent cafes, bistros and chic shops nearby. When we revisit Paris we will definitely stay here again.

I realise now that we were paying for the location, not the room itself. It was advertised as a "chambre superiere" but in reality was only adequate. The bathroom was much nicer, and seemed cleaner .My main question would be concerning access for people with disabilities, there did not appear to be any. The location was fantastic though and more than made up for the room.

The hotel's location is superb, its employees courteous and helpful, the room clean and well-maintained. My only complaint was that only one, not very heavy, blanket was provided, and the towels were rather thin. Otherwise a real find.

The Hotel Des Ecoles is in an excellent location, close to the Latin Quarter action and other major attractions yet in a relatively quiet side street (except on Saturday nights). Our room was clean and comfortable, with functional if somewhat eccentric plumbing. Breakfast was not included, but there are plenty of nearby options and watching Paris passing by each morning from our Odeon corner cafe was fun. The only drawback was the small room size - our triple room appeared to contain only a double bed, with canopy overhead. This canopy turned out to be the third bed, reachable by ladder. There wasn't room for much else in the room.

Before in english then in italian! I try, because my english is old. So, the Hotel is beautiful, is small but clean, the personell are nice and helpful. The location is very very good, near Quartieri Latini, Notre Dame; there is many night-life. The rooms are little but not too much, to sleep they are good! So sorry for my english and if you want my idea: go at the Des Ecoles Hotel!
