I've got a room at the sixth floor, the bathroom was very large and with a window on the outside (this is something I've never seen in Paris!). It is close to the Pantheon and to the very remarkable church of St. Etienne du Mont. The room was clean and comfortable. I must say I've been very satisfied. The only drawback was the price: since I was in Paris during the Fashion Week, I had to pay a very high price per night. But still this hotel was one of the cheapest proposed by Venere.

The lights illuminating the building looks nice from the outside but it was somewhat annoying inside our room. At night it was pretty hot and we had to close the curtains, otherwise we couldn't sleep for the lights. we would have liked the opputunity to have the window open.. The staff is really great and the hotel is perfectly placed, close to metro, close to resturants and café's.

We would have liked to have had a family room as we are a couple with 3 children plus another relative joined us. We chose 2 triple rooms as it was cheaper than a double and a quad. The rooms were clean, the staff members were pleasant, helpful and friendly, and the location was excellent.

We were a party of 9(6 were 20-25 with 3 50 yrs+.) on vacation and required 5 rooms. 3 faced the street and 2 the interior courtyard. There is no A/C but fans were in most rooms and the minimal street noise was virtually eliminated by closing windows/running fan. It was cool during our stay (July 7-10) so being too warm was not a problem. Location is excellent! Only 1 1/2 blocks from metro. Many bakeries, restaurants and small grocers were within a 2 block walk. Staff was courteous and helpful. Maid service was excellent. Rooms were small by American standards but not uncomfortable. Bathroom was up to date and very clean. Good value for the money. Would stay there again.

Great location, close to metro and Notre Dame. Also close to nice restaurant/bar areas. Room ok - clean and functional. Staff disinterested, but efficient. No air-condition. Our room would most probably be very hot in summer.

The location was what attracted us to the hotel and in this respect it didn't disappoint. It was a very short walk from Notre Dame, really ideal for a short stay in Paris. The hotel itself is basic and adequate. We didn't have the breakfast prefering to buy from a boulangerie.

The hotel is in an excellent location, approx 10/15 mins walk from the Notre Dame, with an amazing variety of cafes/restaurants on route. The night reception were very friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. It was our first time in Paris, and we will definately be coming back.

Nice little hotel. The room was a bit small, but served well, though it looked a little 'used' (clean though!) The elevator is a challenge, but we managed it :-) Free wifi of hotel is a useful extra, especially as there are simply _no_ other TV channels than French, it would be great to have CNN / BBC for evening / morning news at least. Staff is kind and helpful, also speaks English. Either walls are made of paper or fellow guests were a bit noisy... Not a disaster if you are exhausted of sightseeing.

Vendome Saint Germain was an OK hotel, and the location was excellent - that's probably the biggest upside. The downsides were the fact that the room and the bed were very small (though we didn't spend a lot of time in either), and the price was pretty high for a 2-star hotel - even a well-located one.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at this motel. The room was not large but we had enough room. It was very clean and the bathroom was in good condition. No shower curtain so we just sat in bath and used hand held shower and then stood to rinse of keeping the bathroom dry. The hotel is in a fantastic location near train, cafes, supermarket and in walking distance to Notre Dame and lots of attractions. The only complaint would be that the walls were a bit thin and you could hear next door. We would definately stay there again as we thought it was a good price for location. We had no trouble with the staff as they were friendly.

The staff is possibly the rudest I have experienced in my life. Upon arrival we were told that we HAD to know that check in does not start before 2.30pm and so to go and have a walk around. We were tired from travelling and that not helped. The idiot at the desk which I can understand why it was criticised before, raised his voice and insulted us because we were trying to use Maestro Card to pay. We told him we asked his colleague who said we could use it, but he kept saying no. This is despite they had the Maestro logo on the window. The payment went through and I guess the guy felt even more stupid after that. The hotel is clean and in a good area but if service is a component you value, I'll definitely suggest you follow previous review and find a better hotel in the same area.

But: About 9 o clock every day two room service women came in und took their breakfast in the breakfast-room for guests und had their conversations in such a loud und primitive way that we really felt dissturbed.

I would rate the hotel at 2 star +. As a single traveler I have never had such a spacious room, it was actually a family room. It is located in a very central location. 15 minute walk to Notre Dame, the same distance to the Pantheon. The Gare de Lyon train station is only 30-40 minute walk away. If you want shopping the Rue St Germaine is again a short walk away. There are lots of bistros located within a short distance from the hotel and I found the prices extremely competitive for a European capital city. I have already recommended this hotel to friends.

Room was much more spacious than we expected. We had a bathtub with hand held shower attachment, but there was no shower curtain, so it was a little messy. I guess it was expected that most people would take a bath rather than trying to use the shower as a shower. The double bed mattress should be replaced; it sags in the middle. One thing we did not like is that the front doors could be locked at any hour of the day or evening if the front desk clerk was away from his post. This effort at security was appreciated but it was a nuisance. In room safes are provided, but without any operating instructions in English. Location is very convenient; walking distance to Cluny Museum and Notre Dame. It wasn't a great stay, but it wasn't that bad either. Better than a lot of two star hotels.

Excellent location, but seemed quite expensive. Rooms very small, stayed in a triple room, and when the third bed was extended (fold out couch), had to climb over the bed to get to the bathroom. Would have been an acceptable sized double room. Hotel was clean and tidy, and front staff quite helpful.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and would recommend this hotel for anyone wishing an economical short break in Paris. It is in a very good location just 15 minutes walk from Notre Dame. The only downside to the hotel is that we could hear the metro rumbling away below, this could be because we were on the 1st floor. Otherwise, no complaints at all.

Hotel room was small but that was expected. It was cleaned every day and clean towels were supplied every day. We did not see any cleaning staff although we could hear them moving around. The in room safe was not working so we reported it at reception the reply was:- "You do not have to worry just leave your valuables in the room there is someone on reception 24hours so no one can go into your room". However, on returning to the hotel on the first night around 11.30 p.m. the Night Porter was on his way to bed and he had put all the room keys belonging to the people who still had to come in on display on the reception desk in full view of the unlocked door into the hotel Anyone passing seeing these could easily enter take a key and go into any room of their choice and steal what was there. We never left any valuables in our room at all. We carried passports and cash and what little jewellery we had with us. The hotel bar was never opened and we were coming and going at various times. One evening around 9.30 we asked for a drink and were told the bar was closed. However, if you go out the door of the hotel and turn right up the hill (not steep) turn left there was a great bar at the corner (1 minute stroll from hotel door) It was the cheapest bar in Paris with Cognag at 4€ and not 8€ and 9€ in the bars further up the same street and the staff were friendly. Although we did not eat in there, the food coming from the kitchens looked good. I would probably not go back to this hotel. There are a good many restaurants within 5 - 10 minutes walk all good. There was a Metro about 30 - 50 yards up hill from the hotel door. Good line as well

Compact and perfectly adequate for a short stay. We stayed over New Year with friends & were all comfortable for our stay. Not a "cheap" hotel but for Paris, good value & good location. 2 Metro stops just a short walk away and loads of restaurants within 5-10 minutes. Interior decor a bit tired but if you like artificial flowers, this could be for you. Our room was cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towels etc. It was spotless. We will definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it as a base for a short site seeing/shopping trip. We didn't do breakfast as on the first morning there were no free tables in the small dining room. Perhaps at only 7 euros it was proving very popular with the other guests. All in all, no complaints for a 2 star, family run Hotel.

We booked 2 rooms at the Vendome Saint Germain for a married couple and 2 young adult children. the rooms were clean and the beds were fine. The bathrooms were very good. The location was excellent and on a quieter street. The breakfast was overpriced for what you received - try goign down street to Breakfast in America for a better value for breakfast food, or go to a pastry shop. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel unreservedly.

This was a great stay. We were in Paris during the transit strike, but the hotel was close enough to everything that walking everywhere was not a problem. For the price it was an awesome find with some cute touches, like window boxed filled with geraniums. Also the employees were great. I had thought I booked 2 twin beds but when we arrived they gave us a small full size. Not the best arrangement for my Mom and I. I called and told them the situation but was told I would have to pay more if we wanted twin beds and that room would only be available the next day. When we went out the next morning the manager stopped us and said he had a room and would give it to us for no extra charge. This was really nice as we had not made a fuss or even bothered to ask again. The room was larger and pretty nice for the price and location (using European pricing standards and room sizes). They warned us of an impending transit strike and made arrangements for us to have a taxi to the airport when we left. Location was great it was at near a metro stop (which although convenient means you have to hear the occasional rumble). We were only a few blocks away from some very good restaurants and a lively night-time area as well.

I travelled with my wife in europe as our honeymoon. We travelled 6 cities in europe, paris is the last stop. This hotel is the worst in terms of service among all the 6 hotels we stayed during our one-month trip. When we first stepped into the hotel at 6 p.m., there was no one at the reception desk. After a while, a fat man rushed out, no smile, no sorry, just gave us the door key and tell us the price and facilities coldly and quickly like he had something urgent to do and wished to finish this process asap. We stayed 5 nights, during which, we never saw the reception desk staff smile, or even look at us when we talk to them. Everytime we asked for help (like borrowing adapter etc.), the answer was always "no". And we put a chocolate bar at the desk in the room one day, when we were back, we found it was bitten by someone.(It's a big bite!) When we checked out, I asked about the details of the cost, the guy at front desk was very unpatient, and at last he even asked me to "stop speaking!" Maybe the hotel has a nice location, but the staff in there is very unprofessional and snobbish. I will never never stay there again, and will never never recommend to anyone else. It almost destroyed my honeymoon mood and my good impression on Paris!

I traveled to Paris with my daughter and my 15 year old grandson. The triple room we stayed in was comfortable, clean and quiet, equipped with cable TV, a phone and free hi speed internet. Elevator access was a plus for me. The service was excellent with a special thanks to the waitress in the breakfast room, who ran out to the bakery across the street when we came to breakfast late one morning and there were no croissants left. In the heart of the Latin Quarter and a stone throw away from the Cardinal Lemieu Metro stop, the location could not have been better for tourists like us. Nice area restaurants, delicatessen, fruit and pastry shops. If you are on a budget and plan to spend a great deal of time sightseeing, this is the place to stay. We definitely will!

The Hotel is situated in the heart of the Latin Quarter with plenty of patisserie's and small restaurants, shopping close at hand, as well as Metro stations. The hotel concierge was polite and always helpful. There was a small elevator. Breakfast was available but for a fairly high price if you're on a budget. (Plenty of wonderful eateries near by) Mini-fridge in the room had beverages for a reasonable price, however (2 Euros). The rooms are very small though bright, with two walk-out windows to a small balcony covered in bright red geraniums. Picturesque view of a typical small, narrow Paris St. With the window closed, it was very quiet. The room was a little worn but seemed to be clean. The one difficult point: the bathtub only had a hand held shower, no shower curtain and no fan! Everything was drenched after a shower/bath. And no bidet. But nicely tiled bathroom and very clean. All in all, it was a pleasant enough base for exploring beautiful Paris, minutes from everything (with a Metro pass), easy walk to Notre Dame or Luxembourg. For a budget price, quite acceptable. We are middle-aged & used to N.Amer. space, but felt quite comfortable for a week long stay.

The hotel's location in the 5th arondissment is terrific -just 5 mins to Blvd St Germain and its specialist food shops and 10 mins to Notre Dame. The hotel was renovated quite a while ago and it tells because the general furnishings are tired and worn.We were unimpressed that we had booked a double but found that we were initially allocated a "double" ( actually 2 separate singles) so small we couldn't place our suitcases on the floor or walk around the beds. We complained and were given another larger "double" (2 singles but that was all they had)on the top floor. Our stay coincided with extremely hot weather (35C) and despite the fan and the open window, the room was hot and airless all night. Added to this there was constant street noise. Nothing detracts from enjoying a trip than sleepless nights!!

The hotel lacks personality, but it provided just what I was looking for - a clean, inexpensive, conveniently located hotel for a short stay in Paris. (Very easy walk to Notre Dame.) The room was small - as expected - but had combined bath and shower (very clean). They also accommodated my early arrival (around 7:00 AM) at no extra charge. Without AC, the room would have been very uncomfortable during the heat wave, but tall French doors and an oscillating fan kept the room cool enough during my two days.

This is a great little hotel to stay at in Paris. Their rates are very reasonable. And what a great location!! You are near the lines 7 & 10 for the Metro, a ten minute walk to the Pantheon, and a 15-minute walk to the Marais (4th arrondisement). There are plenty of cafes, boulangeries, and brasseries in the immediate area that can provide you with your morning croissant and cafe (not provided by the hotel, but this works out much better). If you can, request a room on the upper floors with a view of the street (it's not very noisy) and the Paris rooftops. Or ask for a room on the lower floors with a view of the rear courtyard/flower patch. The only thing that made our stay at this hotel difficult was the lack of Air Conditioning during the August hot spell, when temperatures reached over 100 degrees for several days in a row. The hotel did provide oscillating fans, and the existence of a working elevator allowed us to skip the stairs. I will definately be making reservations here for my next trip to Paris.
