Renovations to be finished in Sept 2011. Very nicely refurbished. The outdoor breakfast area no longer exists, and has been replaced by disabled rooms. A new breakfast area has been set up near the reception. Air conditioning great! View to the Eiffel Tower unforgettable from some rooms, and from in front of the Hotel - a magic welcome to Paris. Nice area. I would stay here again, particularly if we were just a couple, no kids. Parked the car on the street no problems and free in August!

Nice Hotel, great location. Price is what it is, considering this is Paris. They were installing carpet during our stay, with strong industrial glue odors wafting up the stairs. Using the stairs was impossible on some days and the lift was microscopic: for 1 or 2 people. CLEAN hotel, QUIET hotel! My room had a gorgeous view of the tower!

The hotel staff was very, very helpful especially when confirming our shuttle service back to the airport. Rooms are very clean, fresh towels, breakfast service was good, the location was very safe and close to the metro. Would love to stay again in the future, I believe my wife and I will definitely will. See you soon Hotel Modern Valgirard, au revoir!

Bicycle station, metro and bus stations very near. Easy to reach all Paris landmarks, even Montmartre with only 1 public transport. Very helpful staff. Will come again for sure.

This was a return visit to this hotel...that should say something! The hotel is a good place to stay in Paris. It is well located inside the periferique, near all services and within walking distance of pretty well everything (if you like long walks and have good shoes). It is close in but not too close and has good restaurants and stores close by. Do not expect large rooms...this is Paris. Americans, expect tiny rooms...this is Paris, France, not Paris, USA!! However, do expect friendly and helpful staff, very proficient in English (and prepared to admit and demonstrate it). Breakfast is simple but adequate.

Hotel Modern val girard is a very nice hotel in a great neibourhood. The nature of the building is very homy but the room and elevator were smaller than a tourist might expect. Nevertheless My doughter and me enjoied the hotel. The service was friendly and very helpful and the Eanglish was very good.

I stayed in this hotel with my wife and 3 children (7, 10 & 13)and we were very happy with our stay here. The staff were excellent. We arrived 7'o clock ish and the night porter was really friendly and helpful. The receptionist is excellent and incredibly helpful. It's about 30 mins walk to the tower but the metro stop is 1 min away and very easy to use - much easier than the tube in London! We would stay again without any doubt.

The main manager of the hotel was very helpful but other than that every one else was not at all helpul. They had a very laid back and don't care attitude. The service by the staff was very poor and also the cleaners knocked on our doors at 8 am to clean the room despite knowing that we were in side asleep. I do not recomend this hotel to any body and I would not be returning to the hotel.

people at this place are nice but unfortunately whilst the building looks nice: typical french with a nice view to the eiffel tower outside your window if you are lucky, its rooms are extremely small. After putting your luggage theres no space to walk in the room at all. theres no air con in the room and it gets hot. i dont know how people can survive in the rooms in summer. We were supplied a fan but it was really noisy even on the lowest setting. We had to keep the window open at night which could only open halfway as it hit the bed but this meant that we were woken up by 5 in the morning with traffic and sunlight. Very frustrating when you cant get a good nights sleep. elevator is tiny as well. you could really only fit one person with luggage in it. Location is good however.

The hotel was great, the rooms were perfect, we stayed three nights, and had a great time. The breakfast, howeve was too expensive, we chose to get something at the bakery down the street. If you stay through a Sunday, be aware that everything around the hotel is closed. You will need to go quite a ways for food. The hotel had wifi, but it required a fee to be paid to access. The bathroom was amazing, and roomy. There were three of us, our daughter had her own little room, with a door to our room. It was nice for all of us to have some privacy of our own. I would totally reccomend this hotel. It was a great find. We walked to the Eiffel Tower, it was about a 15 minute walk. At night you could see the tower, and it was beautiful.

We really enjoyed our entire stay at the Valgirard. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. At first we thought the price was a bit high but we got our money's worth in every respect. We especially loved the wonderful high pressure shower! The walk to the metro is less than 5 minutes and is really very user friendly. The area around the hotel is really nice but as tourists we only hung out there one day. It's kind of cool - kind of like a small town. I would highly recommend this place. Again, it's pricey but well worth it.

We traveled in August together with my son & my mother. Hotel personnel was very nice & supportive for all the requested we had during the stay; tips regarding the restaurants, how to reach different tourist spots, shopping area directions, etc. A big thank to all of them, as I had some health troubles with my son and they helped me a lot! Even if the room was smaller than expected and the view of the room was not so nice, the neighborhood, the quietness of the area and the convenience of connections gave definitely a plus to our stay.

the neighborhood is very nice and fairly quiet, the view of the Eiffel tour is great. The room was small but okay, just the bathroom wasn't nice (mould in the shower, too much plastic, bad lightning). We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, as there are lots of little bars and cafes around where you can buy good pastries and coffee.

This hotel was a real disappointment in every aspect. our room was ridiculously small (my 4th trip to paris and used to small rooms but this just exceeded all expectations). The noise was unbearable, you could hear everything in next rooms and who was using toilet upstairs. The upholstry was old and smelt awful. We were charged 150 euro a night without breakfast, poor value for money.Hotel Modern Valgirard is anything but modern. I will not be returning to this hotel.

Despite the smallness of the room & tininess of the elevator (said it could fit 3, but it barely fit me & 2 suitcases) the Modern was wonderful. On our 1st ever trip to Europe, my son & I were given a 5th floor room with a small balcony & the highlight of the trip was stepping out onto the balcony to have the Eiffel Tower right in our view. It brought me to tears! The staff were extremly pleasant & helpful & accomodating. There was no AC, but when I asked for a fan, there was one in the room that afternoon. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!

We were staying in a triple room. It wasn't bad at all. The main queen size bed and a side pocket area for a twin bed was actually decent size, and most importantly it was clean. One thing that struck me was how big the bathroom was. Although the toilet itself wasn't very stable, and the shower head had good pressure only if it was held at a certain angle, but overall it was clean and big. You can't get a better deal for the money. The hotel is located in between the "hotel des Invalides" and the Eifel Tower. The bakery is litterally around the corner. The staff is very helpfull and fluent in various languages, which was very helpful. One thing I have to mention, is the elevator. I live in France, yet I haven't seen anything this small. It could barely fit 3 people. It's a trapezoid shape and thank God we had a medium size duffle bag with us, otherwise we'd have to drag it to the 4th floor on our own. Overall it's a good hotel for the money in the middle of the city, with a metro station 5 minutes away.

My two kids and I traveled in August. We had a lovely stay. If you ask for the nearest metro stop, the hotel is three blocks away and easy to find. We spent an hour and a half looking for it from the Eifel Tower. Easy to get anywhere on the metro. Vera, the lady in the photo, is a real treat and lifesaver. She knows where everything is. Vera helped us make train reservations out of Paris. The rooms are great and the courtyard is a great end to the day in contemplation. Water pleasure was great. We were travelling as a married couple with a 15 year old son. Considering that we wanted a rather centrally located accommodation for an affordable price, the hotel was ideal. The rooms were very small, but clean and decorated with taste. Bending a bit out of the window you could see the Tour Eiffel. The hotel is situated in a small street, nevertheless the traffic noise is considerable. As long as the windows are shut they keep out the noise quite well, but since the rooms don't have air condition, you will have to open the windows quite often. We spent there a week when temperatures went up to 36°C, thus we had the windows open nearly all night long. It became cool enough, but you were definitely better off with ear wax. The neighborhood was pleasant. The street itself is typically Parisian and rather quiet (no contradiction: there is not much traffic, but due to the narrow street and the high houses it's very noisy). Nearby you have all kinds of shops and restaurants and a tube station. By tube it's only a few stops to the center. The staff was really nice, friendly and helpful. The two young ladies who alternated at the reception apparently enjoyed talking to their guests in a considerable number of foreign languages (often in France you are treated better if you speak French - not there). All in all it was a pleasant stay in a nice little hotel with a personal touch. We would definitely stay there again.

The directions on the website are much too vague, and I found that it is quite a far walk from the Metro station where the directions end, to the actual hotel. Perhaps they could be more specific. Additionally, the staff are generally helpful, but while one told us that it wouldn't be a problem to get a taxi at 7:30 am (he was working evenings), the person in the morning totally stressed us out by saying that we should have left way earlier than we were going to and that we were already too late. As it turns out, it isn't that difficult to get a taxi from a taxi stand, and getting back to the airport only took an hour total. So all that stress for nothing!

Our receptionist at the hotel, Vera, was always ready to help if needed for directions ect. The hotel can be a little tricky to find on arrival as most maps do not show rue Petel. The nearest metro stn. is Vaugirard on line 12 and is less than a five minute walk to the hotel.I would suggest calling the hotel on arrival for directions,Air France courtesy desk at the airport can help you. Cab fare is approx. 50 Euros from CDG. but be prepared to give the driver some directions as the name of the hotel is of little use.If arriving in the morning your room most likely will not be available until after 12.00 p.m. They will gladly look after your luggage till your room is ready. On checkout we learned we could have had a discount on the room rate if we had mentioned on booking we were airline employees. Never hurts to ask if discounts are available. The hotel breafast is one of the better ones we have had at Paris hotels. A two minute walk will take you to a good bistro if you prefer to grab a quick bite. There are several good restaurants with in easy walking distance. We particularily liked the "COUPE DU MEILLEUR POT 2003" at 102 blomet for its friedly service and variety of food. Worth a splurge, LE PERE CLAUDE, 51 Av. De La Motte Picquet was fantastic.Dinner for two including, appetizer, maincourse, wine, water and gratuity 104 Euros and worth every penny, reservations recomended with smoking and non smoking sections. We loved the hotel, the area and restaurants were non touristy, very convenient metro stop. We can recomend this hotel with no reservations.

The hotel staff was great, very nice and helpful. I can't give the hotel a big thumbs up, but it was ok. The rooms were just much to small even for paris and the bathroom was less than desirable and had a little mold and in much need of some new carpet. The area was ok, but not close to any attractions you wanted to see. The hotel also just didn't offer anything to do or any lounge area or bar, just a place to lay your head and for $100 Euro per night I just felt the rate to be high, for what the hotel offered. On the other side the metro was within 5 minutes walking and the bakery's were great every morning and the rooms were clean. The hotel was just ok. I would take my chance's and try another hotel my next stay.

Paris is such a beautiful city, we could have slept on a park bench and still enjoyed ourselves. So to stay at such a warm and welcoming little hotel as the Modern Valgirard made our visit to Paris all the more magical. The receptionist, Vera, was absolutefully wonderful, with her warm and welcoming smile and her always helpful information. She made us feel like special guests. And the location is perfect near to the metro and dozens of restaurants. Do yourself a favour; forget the five star, luxury hotels and stay at the Modern Valgirard to experience Parisian hospitality at its best.

I looked through many ads on the net, found the Modern Valgirard due to a great low price, and received more than my money's worth. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and decent, the location was great, and my overall impression was that I made a good selection! Extra thanks to the night staff who made us coffee at 2 am!

We love the Modern Valgirard. It is perfectly located by the Metro and the staff is more than gracious. Plus there is the best little bakery right around the corner. Perfect stay in Paris!! Will be back.

The hotel was nice, in a lovely part of the city. I's convenient to the Metro. Please do not believe the directions on Veneer.com. We book two hotels with them and the directions were incorrect both times.

This hotel is situated in a quiet area of the 15th arrondissement, not a touristy section of Paris. However, there are plenty of very good restaurants nearby if you plan to eat near the hotel, which we did a couple of times. You are in walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, and if you get a balcony, you will have a great view of the tower. There is a metro stop 2 minutes away from the hotel...very convenient. There is no air conditioning, but the hostess of the hotel offered us a fan which made the room very comfortable. The room is very small, but so are most hotel rooms in Paris. (I wasn't expecting big.) The bathroom was clean, which is what we cared about most. The breakfast is expensive at the hotel (even though they have great coffee), so we opted to grab a quick breakfast at nearby patisseries...more than half the price. And, saving the best for last, we found the woman at the hotel (who works during the day), to be a hidden treasure of the hotel. If you tell her your itinerary of the day, she would give you tips and suggestions on how to make your day more enjoyable. She speaks english perfectly, as well as Italian and can't recall the 4th. The other people working at the hotel weren't nearly as helpful, but they only work nights anyway. She truly wants your stay to be as memorable as possible. Bon voyage!

The gentleman who was there when we checked in late in the evening was not very friendly but the rest of the staff was, for the most part, helpful. breakfast at the hotel is very expensive (8euros pp) and definately not worth it. Also we had a room on the 5th floor over the breakfast area so the noise of dishes woke us up early every morning (had to keep the window open as it was quite warm and we had to get a fan from the front desk do to the absence of air conditioning). The hotel was ok, but I wouldn't call it a 3 star hotel and our room certainly did not look like the picture. There is a WONDERFUL restaurant next door though. We ate there twice and the food was phenomenal and the cook very nice (gave us complimentary after dinner drinks). You can see the eifel tower from out front of the hotel and it is about a 15-20min. walk there. there is also an art supply store around the corner which we found handy. Again, not a BAD hotel, but we wont stay there again as I'm sure there are better available for that money.

I was very impressed with the staff of this hotel - everybody was friendly and helpful and made it clear they were there to help us. Our room was very clean and our bathroom pretty large. no cheesiness in the decoration.

Early July we booked a triple room for 3 nights, the rate was 84 Euros/room incl. breakfast. I must say this hotel is a bit troublesome to reach. Need to change trains 3 times from airport and the trains seem to be always full no matter what time we take them. The small street on which the hotel is located is actually rather nice. Not too far from the Metro stop Vaugirard (about 5 minutes walk), and there isn’t too much traffic outside the hotel. The bakery next door sells the most delicious breads and cakes, and there are quite a number of restaurants and cafes nearby as well. Room was quite comfortable; bath room was spacious for European standard. I’d say that this is a nice hotel with a reasonable price.

The bed linens had some stains and should have been changed. The directions on the site are very confusing. The hotel is near the Metro Stop Vaugirard and is about 5 minutes walk from there. You can also take Bus 88 from Denfert Rochereau to Marie 15eme stop.
