We had a very nice 4 nights at Hotel Saint-Jacques. It is a small hotel with a small but helpful staff, perfect for those looking for a quiet, quaint experience in a great location. The breakfast room was lovely. Elevator very small but beautiful staircase. Bathroom in our room also VERY small. Depedning on what you are looking for, a good choice.

The hotel has a beautiful lounge, with books to read, drinks to order. And it maybe the few hotels still use actual keys than electronic card for doors. Staff is warm, surrounding neighbourhood is great! University Sorbonne is close and Notre Dame is only few hundred yards further. It is within Latin district so I can find lots of book stores. Lots of good restaurants closeby too.

We thought the hotel was excellent. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The hotel itsel was charming and was everything we hoped it would be. Our room was very nice, with 2 double beds and a wraparound porch with wonderful views. We also loved the area it was in, the Latin Quarter felt very much like a neighborhood and was very near the Seine and walking distance to everywhere. We also loved the proximity to Saint Germaine, and frequented the cafes and restaurants there as well. I would gladly stay here again.

Wonderful late-19th-century style. The small breakfast room was beautiful, with soft music from a "self-playing" piano! Excellent location with a short walk to Pantheon and Notre Dame. Price for breakfast (13 euro)is not cheap (no hot dishes) but quite reasonable.

Excellent location, the room was clean, quite roomy for a Parisian hotel and the beds extremely comfortable. The shower was a bit wonky and if we were to stay here again we would probably ask for a bathroom rather than shower room. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Good food to be had in many of the surrounding cafes (we would recommend le Twick on rue de Anglais), however beware Le Petit Pont, we paid 63 euros for 2 crouque monsieur, 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers!!! For good value, good food and an excellent Paris experience try the Sergent Recouter on the Ile St Louis.

I needed to change my stay and there was confusion among staff members on how to do it. Staff was very pleasant though and it is a beautiful hotel in a great location!!

We are picky travelers in our 60's, and the St. Jacques delighted us in every way. The ground floor room was small but very pretty, clean, and dead quiet. The bathroom was completely modern with a shower superior to our own. The breakfast was delicious and generous with cooked dishes available for 2 or 3 extra Euros. Service was outstanding. Everyone was very polite and patient, and language was never a problem. In particular, Bridgette knows everything worth knowing about shops, services, and restaurants around the cozy and charming Latin Quarter. Ask for help making reservations as they are often necessary. A pricey but fun treat is the Segway tour of Paris. Flying around on your 2-wheeled "pogo stick" is a great way to see all the sights in 4 hours unimpeded by traffic and without taking a step.

Out first stay, here. We were VERY pleasantly surprised and pleased with our stay at the St Jacques. The room was reasonably large by Paris standards and the bath much larger. The staff was friendly and helpful and the in house breakfast, simple, but delightful. Great location. We will return there if the need arrises. Beds comfy and clean.

I had a great stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very nice. When you consider the cost of a single cup of coffee at a cafe, the hotel's petit dejeuner is a great value. In the evening I walked a block up the hill to the Pantheon where I could see the upper portion of the Eiffel Tower sparkling! The location is great: easy access to the Metro, just a short walk down to the islands.

Room was beautiful and of adequate size for Europe. Reception desk very helpful with numerous requests (reservations, directions, taxi, information). Location convenient to many tourist attractions (Latin quarter, Le Marais, Ile de Cite, etc) and metro stations. Walking distance to many restaurants.

I was very happy with my 2 night stay at the charming Hotel St Jacques in a 2 storey single room...very novel! The hotel is well located & walking distance of many Paris attractions: Pantheon, Sorbonne, Notre Dame, Seine river, Luxemborg Gardens etc. There are many cafes & restaurants nearby which are not at all expensive as the hotel is in the Latin Quarter which is a student area. The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful & the breakfast fresh & plentiful. I would most definitely stay here again.

Location excelent. We have booked a no-smoking room and the room was always smelling cigarette. There was no courtains on the bath tub and everytime we took our shower the water splashed all over the bathroom. We were hosted on the fifth floor and one night the elevator was broken and we have to use the stairs to go up.

We chose this hotel because of the location and price. We got what we wanted. I travelled with my small family (husband, 1 9-year old). We expected a really small room, but it was quite allright. Excellent breakfast! The brasserie across the street was really nice with traditional French food. Pantheon is really close and also lots of stores with comics and films.

Excellent traditional Paris hotel in an very convenient location for sightseeing. Just blocks from 2 metro stations. It was beautiful weather and we walked everywhere. We had a triple for us and our college aged daughter that worked out well. Pretty decent size, especially for Paris. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but the room was very charming. The lobby had a comfortable seating area with a bar. Best perk - free wi-fi!

A lovely, clean and quaint hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was spacious with wonderful decor! The location is ideal for walks along the Seine, strolling in the Jardins de Lunxenbourg and marvelling at Notre Dame.

We enjoyed our stay however our room was very loud, facing the Rue des Ecoles on the first floor. Without earplugs it would have been difficult to sleep. I think we expected a bit more for the premium we paid for a "superior double" -- either we didn't get that room type for our actual stay or the hotel photos really aren't accurate. The hotel is in a good enough location to Pantheon, Metro, RER , Musee Cluny, and walkable to Notre Dame and Latin Quarter. We skipped breakfast at the hotel because of the cost. The high speed internet worked well, and all in all, it's a nice place by Parisian standards.

Very nice small hotel in a good location. Only one block from the Metro. The staff is friendly, helpful, and competent. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is very clean. The bathrooms are very modern for Europe. The public spaces and rooms are very charming. I plan on staying here again. My only minor quibble is that they have free wireless internet throughout the hotel, but their router is configured so that you cannot use the internet with a Mac or an iPhone. If you plan on staying there and you need to use one of these devices you might want to call and see if this has been corrected. Everyone who answers the phone speaks English.
