Position is the only positive point...but not enough. The rooms and bathroom are awfully small. The reception is just a desk in a small room with 3 tables...there you should get your breakfast ( if u can call it so from what I have seen ) Was not brave enough to eat there. I booked for two nights and I left after the first...if you try to save money as I did, find another compromise because it's terrible.Almost forgot the elevator. you can only fit in two if you are regular size.

The best thing about the hotel is its location. It is unbeatable. Walking distance to the Eiffel tower. And that is it. The hotel is quite basic. The rooms are very small, so are the bathrooms. There is a bed, one chair, one desk small wardrobe and a small TV. No telephone, no water boiler - which would be quite an asset since there is a small fridge in the room. The elevator is extremely small but functioning. The hotel stuff are there for you to pay the bill and that is it. I could have used some help bringing my suitcase up the very steep and narrow staircase... All in all - the location sells the hotel.

I enjoyed staying in this hotel, very close to Eiffel Tower and metro station, at walk distance from many turistic places and the stuff is always there ready to help you. The Carrefour city shop is next to the hotel and the first on the left there is a street with a lot of places to eat. I warmly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central accomodation in Paris at a good price.

We arrived late in the evening and the manager on duty was pleasant and accommodating. Our room was clean and the property is in a good location. Rue Cler is very close and is a market street with a butcher, seafood vendor, produce, cafes, and many other shops along the way. Internet worked well at this location. I would recommend this hotel to budget-minded travelers.

Like all hotels in Paris, very small rooms. A tiny elevator. Minimal service from the reception. No air condition. Great view though from the 7th floor of the Eiffel tower. The room wasn´t all clean, but ok. Pretty good value for money, but you can get cheaper hotels at the same price - but location was really good.

Excellent, cute, sweet, classic French Hotel!!!! That hotel has 7 floors, with an incredible view of the Eifel tower, and the friendly receptionist, gave me one of the rooms at the 7th floor, before I ask it!!!! :-) I came back from Paris yesterday :(( but I'll visit it again, very very soon!!!!! *with just a little bit of French, I received more hospitality!*

It was such a romantic trip to paris! We loved the hotel Royal Phare because it was small and perfectly situated. You have a supermarkt right next to it and a cafe at the corner, the metro station almost infront of the entrance door. We reached every place easily this way. If your expecting something posh you are wrong here...its a very simple but comfortable hotel. The breakfast room is also the reception area. The room was cosy nothing negative to say about except the matress that needs to be changed asap since it was pretty worn out. Other than that there is nothing more to say... we went end November and it was too cold but there were less tourists and things were cheaper than in the high season. The next time we are in Paris we will definatly be staying at the Royal Phare.

value for money in Paris is different (less) from many other locations; for us the Hotel Phare was perfectly located (business); nearby are the Eiffel Tower, the Seine tour boats and the museums of Les Invalides; the Metro is in front of the door; I would book this again

It's a fantastic little hotel right next to the Metro stop and a Carrefour. The rooms at the top have quite a good view of the Eiffel Tower and the Eiffel Tower is only about a five minute walk away. This was a brilliant find and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms don't have a terrible amount of floor space, but who needs floor space when the Eiffel Tower is on your doorstep. Great!

This is an ordinary hotel in a fairly expensive neighborhood near the tour Eiffel and a touristy market street, the rue Cler. Nothing out of the ordinary in the rooms. Hot water was weak in the morning, and there's not much common space. Wifi was through some unencrypted web service complicated to hook up to. The hotel should set up its own wifi account. Reception was competent and willing to provide help as requested.

Ok hotel for this price and location. the location is perfect. Subway, marked, atm and a bakery just outide the hotel. Some homelss/beggers were sitting ouitside the hotel entrance/marked close to the atm. which can be some boring at times. we didnt have any problem dough. Our 3rd stay here. 2nd time we had view to the eifel tower from our window, which is cool. hotel lift is crappy small. we took the stairs in stead. would recomend this hotel to ppl who don't need the most fancy room or hotel. hallways are looking some shabby and old, but the room itself were always clean and ok. will stay here again, when travelling to Paris.

The hotel had the worlds smallest elevator. 2 people or 1 person and 1 piece of luggage. The lobby was difficult to get to as I had injured my leg and there was no elevator to the lobby- Only stairs. The room I had was extremely small. That said, The location was excellent. Next to the bus route that taks you to all the big attracions and Metro stops. 2 blocks walk to view the Eiffel Tower. The hotel was next to a grocery store and resturants/places to eat reasonably. I think we had the smallest room and as seniors, we needed more space. The location made the small room a good deal. I would recommend it as long as you realize its only a place to sleep close to transportation to all the sites.

The man on reception when we arrived couldn't have been less helpful when me an my son arrived. There was a bit of a smell about the place when we arrived also although I didn't notice this on any other day. The room was VERY small. I know it is only cheap but it's lucky me and my son are small as there was literally about a foot between the end of the bed and the wall to get past. It is true that you can see the Eiffel Tower from your room (the top 6 feet of it anyway). Paris itself was lovely though and this hotel is about a 7 minute walk away from the Eiffel Tower and then you are on the river and can get everywhere from there so the location was AMAZING! Never been to Paris before but we loved it.

Although the location of this hotel is a good one--in the Champs du Mars area, our room was a real disappointment. It was so tiny we had to walk sideways against the wall to get from one side of the bed to the other. No place for suitcases. Had to sit sideways on the toilet due to lack of space. Most disappointing room on our five week trip.

Was further away from the station we arrived at(La Motte Picquet Grenelle) said 200 m but more like 500+ m.There was a section of the street which was named something else and set back and then it continued so that made the number 40 hard to find. From your instructions """" Change to line 10, direction Boulogne Pont de Saint-Cloud, and get off at La Motte Picquet Grenelle. Walk down Avenue de la Motte Piquet for about 200 metres. The hotel lies on this avenue, at number 40.""" ATM,supermarket, fruit stall and bakery at the front door almost, very handy.Fridge was in the room which we didn't expect otherwise we would have brought food with us.Room was cleaned and towels changed on each of the 3 days we stayed.Beds and pillows comfy.Had a courtyard room so quieter but had to leave window open at night in June so any hotter would have been unpleasant. Could see the top of the Eiffel Tower from our rooom.Breakfast was very good for 7.5 euros even had cereal which is rare in France. We walked a lot to Eiffel Tower to catch the HOP ON HOP OFF bus, also walked to RER station to get the train to Versailles. I think Rick Steves was a bit harsh, it is better than most backpacker hostels we have stayed at in UK and Ireland.

We were absolutely delighted with the place! The location was fabulous, the price unbelievable. It was 3 doors to the subway, 2 blocks from the Eiffel Tower, across the street from a great bakery for cheap and yummy breakfasts, a block from a post office, and it was surrounded by decent restaurants. The staff was very, very nice. One night clerk was exceedingly helpful. We will be recommending the Royal Phare to anyone going to Paris. where do i start? i booked for a 4 night stay and ended up moving hotel after the first night, the pictures on their site are decieving size of rooms for example were extemely tight barely room to move around especially the toilet, the shower area is located side by side with the toilet so you had to physically step on top of the toilet to get to the shower! thankfully we never booked bed and breakfast for the breakfast room is the narrow lobby for which you check in, the view from our hotel was towards the back so nothing to see there, we initially booked this hotel as it promises the so called "best view" of the eiffel tower and surroundings which is also misleading, on an upside it was clean however it's not hard to keep clean such a small space, we decided to check out on book into a hotel jst across the street for an extra 4 euro per night we had a larger room, shower and bath ensuite and a fantastic view of paris, a very small price to pay for quality in comparison overall really not worth the money when there is plenty of other hotels in the same location which can provide more

Very good location, not far from the Eifel Tower. A Metro station is close to the front door of the hotel. I spent two nights at the hotel with my wife. Although we had booked a room at the hotel over three months before, we were given room 35, which was a single room with a double bed in it. It was tiny, even by Paris standards. The hotel lobby price board even showed the room as a single room. We thought all the rooms at the hotel were the same size until we saw some other rooms where the doors had been left open after cleaning. We asked to be given a larger room and were reluctantly given room 46 which was much bigger with a larger bathroom. Most people go to Paris to see the sights and not stay in their hotel room. This hotel is adequate so long as you do not plan to spend much time in your room.

Our booking was confirmed with Venere via email and we had no trouble at the hotel. We managed to secure a room with a balcony. Poor public area where guests have breakfast, very small, staff were friendly enough and could speak enough English. Lift is extremely small, but many places don't even have lifts. Staff very professional and polite, very welcoming. Rooms are clean and ok for the prices. You can even have the view of the Eiffel Tower from the windows of the rooms on the right, as of the 5th floor. The only problem is when you have noisy neighbors in the rooms next to yours: the walls do not keep you from hearing all the talk and "other noises" made by them... The location is very good: the subway station is right outside the hotel door. It is a straight line to Opera where you can take the Roissy or Orly bus to the airports. The elevator is very tiny, but never mind, it fits you and your luggage. Did not try their breakfast. There is a food market right next door and a fridge in the room for your O.J., Yogurt, etc. I would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Royal Phare for the Scotland football match against France. The room was pretty basic but clean and for a triple room was quite small, but the hotel had nice bars and restaurants close by, it was around the corner from the Eiffel Tower and the Metro was just outside which was handy for getting about the city. So if your looking for quality look elsewhere but if your lookng for something cheap and cheerful and located well, look here.

An excellent small hotel in an interesting and lively part of Paris, but not too frenetic. Close to Eiffel Tower and Hotel d'Invalides and easy to get water taxi to usual sights further into city centre.

Travelled with my spouse. Stayed for 3 nights from 25th - 28th February. Standard Room. #54. Lift is tiny, only fit 1 person with a std luggage at a time. Our room was not noisy and with mini fridge. Tiny shower area. Service was impatient and we felt they were too busy for our queries. Not welcoming or hospitable. Not exactly near to the Effiel Tower. About 15 mins walk. Plus point: few steps away from Ecole Militaire Metro station.

Excellent location but little else. Room too small and not very clean, breakfast below average, credit card not accepted due to technical problem (and not willing to wait). Steep and narrow stairs to reach the lift, very inconvenient when carrying a suitcase.

Hotel was acceptable considering its excellent location. Rooms are very small, but quite ok. Our worst experience was with the staff at the front desk. He was lazy and purposedly tried to make our lives harder. On a Sunday he said there were no grocery stores open, luckily there was somebody in the hotel who knew otherwise, and there was a store open about a block away. He also did not let us use the kitchen's microwave to warm our daughter's milk, even though another guy did. Horrible service. If you just want to sleep here and not require any single help, then it's ok. Otherwise, avoid it.

Pros and cons: -Pros: staff were nice and location very good. -Cons: Problems with hot water, my double room was not announced as double in hotel's reception chart, imposible stairs!

I suggest this hotel to single traveller and young couple that don't search high comfort and service quality but only a room to sleep without spend too much money (the prices are really low). This hotel is good placed to visit Paris by metro.

this hotel was great for what we needed it for. Just for sleep. It was right on the Metro 8 line and with a vistor's traveling pass for two days. It really came in handy. We didn't have a phone in our room. but other than that it was pretty good price for what we got. Breakfast was 7.50 euro but we never ate it. We just grabbed a crossiant and coffee at a cafe somewhere.

the hotel was nicely central to where we wanted to go. It was only about three blocks to the Eiffel Tower. good neighborhood. We reserved a triple room and it was crowded. They need to invest in new and better matresses, they were very hard and they had a large dip in the middle, we did not get a good nights sleep. the hotel itself is quiet, but you had to sleep with either the fan on or the window open. Then the noise from below on the street from the resturant across from the hotel was loud until about midnight and the early morning delivery of food items for the grocery next door. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The metro and subway system was very close and convienent. Overall the stay was pretty good, we were pretty tired from all the walking around Paris. The hotel was very clean and close to attractions.
