I won't suggest to breakfast at the hotel, beacuse the range of foods is too bare. Probably better to get to nearby (about 200m ) supermarket and get there whatever you want.

A convenient location in the 2nd district, easy walks through interesting routes in all directions to many major sites, this may not be a location for everyone but it is good if you are really interested in Paris as a living city and not just to see all the usual tourist attractions. Go in all directions from this hotel and enjoy Paris as a city of great diversity.

Strongly recommend this hotel located near some lovely cafes and shops! Not too far from the nearest metro station. The staff were very welcoming and our family room whilst small was clean very well maintained. Good value and would stay there again.

The hotel is what it is. If you are looking for splendour and oppulence book into the Ritz. I found the hotel very suitable for what I needed to do during my short visit. Good transport links, lots of nice places to eat and drink and a clean and comfortable room. I will definately consider the same hotel should I visit again. Staff were spot on as well and very friendly.

Rooms are not as small as you normally meet in Paris. The hotel is in a centre position and is as the description says. Just the common areas of the hotel are a little bit small but if you are in Paris to have a tripo usually you won't stay too much time in the hotel. Price/quality relationship is very good!!!

The staff were very nice people but I found it highly incompetent an inapropriate that they changed our room without us knowing and packed and moved our personal belongings without our knowledge or acceptance. In my world, one just doesn´t do such a thing. A very unpleasant experiance. Apart from that the hotel was fine.

Consigliato

I spend a weekend with a friend at the Hotel Royal Aboukir. The recepcionists were always very kind with us and tried their best to make us feel comfortable and even to speak a little of Spanish. The rooms are very clean but small, and if there are noisy guests you will hear them. If you are looking for a hotel to spend 3 or 4 days with a good relationship price-quality, I really recommend it.

Very good position. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. Good relationship price/quality. When we booked, they took 30% of the booking at once from my credit card. This had never happened with venere.com

If this hotel were in some other location, I would have rated it higher. It's quite a walk to the Louvre and Rue de Rivoli. The rooms are very small but OK for the money. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Definitely turn left when heading out the front door -- too much red!

The staff were friendly and helpful, however our room stank of chemical air freshner - I dread to think what it was covering up! Also hot water was not always available - I was told by staff you had to let the taps run for 20 minutes or so before the water heats up. Mornings it was usually fine though. The sealant around the bathtub was disgusting looking - all black and moldy - but the shower was new and high-tech. As for the area, if you are familiar with London's Commercial Road, it's a bit like that - seemingly the centre of the rag trade. The hotel is less than a five minute walk to the Rue du Montorgueil which is a vibrant street full of lovely, unpretentious restaurants and interesting food shops. Overall I would not have minded the funny smell in our room, or even the lack of consistent hot water, had I been paying less for it.

Spain, Sep 2008
The hotel was fine, but the room was too small, which made it difficult to move around. The shower didn't have enough pressure in the water, and the water was either freezing cold or boiling hot. There were really nice people there (especially the man who was at the counter on our last day), but there was a woman who wasn't that nice (though I wouldn't say disgusting, but she could improve her way of treating customers). All in all, I think it's not a bad hotel, but for 100€ per night it could be much better.
Italy, Aug 2008
First of all, they automatically canceled my booking at 1am when I was supposed to arrive at 2pm on that same day. Second, Verene displayed breakfast was included when at the end it was not - I got to say I did book that hotel cuz it included breakfast - Third, rooms were not as clean as in other hotels I've been in other cities (comparing same price rate). I would not advise this hotel.

This was our (I travelled with my 18 years old doughter) first visit to Paris and we spend in this hotel 8 nights. We was really satisfied. Location is allmoust in center of city (you can walk to everywhere), the room wasn´t so little as we expectid :), they cleaned every day. We didn´t eat in hotel, it was more interesting (and same price) to take our breakfast out.

I think we enjoyed our stay in Royal Aboukir. It is a good place to spend a night if you are going to walk around the city. It is quite clean/friendly/welcoming plus the location is perfect (20 min walk to the Louvre). But I would not recommend it to those who are planning to stay in the hotel most of the time, because rooms are incredibly small. Overall, good choice for a single traveler or a young couple.

Ottima posizione e ottimo rapporto prezzo/qualità.

Room is very small, but this is tipical to paris hotels. Location is good because you can go by foot in a lot of touristic places from paris. There are o lot of shops aroud the hotel. In the morning the street is a little bit noisy because of the shops. Breakfast is not included in the price, but you can take it, good food.

Paris is a very beautiful city but our trip would become a disaster if we stayed at this hotel. The hotel room was very dirty, bed sheets with hair from other clients who stayed there before. The room was very small, mouldiness on the walls (even if it is presented as renovated), the bath dirty. We asked to change the room but there there was spider on the wall. The air conditioner evacuating tube was inside the room.We haven't seen such a hotel where we had been till now and we had been in Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany. We couldn't sleep in these beds. We also were dissapointed related with the hotel area - prostitutes on the street close to hotel street and I saw that the area was not safe in the evening.

Typical French hotel, with a two-person lift and pleasant staff on the 24hr desk. We stayed in a small double room on the 4th floor. The hotel is situated between three noisy streets so was quiet only if the windows were closed, but that meant no ventilation. To use the air-conditioning you opened the doors to the balcony and poked a large hot air pipe outside then put up with a lot of traffic noise. The shower was very small and the toilet seat cover was fixed into the open position, which was not very pleasant! However it was OK for the 5 days we were there, very close to some closed off market type streets, three metro stations, and many attractions were within easy walking distance.

Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in a good location in a cozy hotel The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is OUTSTANDING. Only problem is that although the street is easy to find, the hotel itself is quite concealed so you need to look carefully. Also it can be a little bit noisy if your window is facing the street... But it's definitely good value !!

Basic accommodation at a not so basic price. Paris is expensive but this is not value for money. Tiny room (expected) and bathroom an afterthought with broken tiles and mis-matched suite behind dangerous glass door. Extortionate mini-bar, 3 Euros for a cup of tea ie one teabag! Cleanliness, although adequate, could have been better. Not asking too much for a duster to be put to use. Expected more for 160 Euros per night. Asked night staff to phone early morning taxi. I had to remind him twice and almost missed my connection.

This hotel is great for the money, Its less than a 5 min walk from Sentier station, still fairly central. The staff were excellent, very well mannered and welcoming. It was my first time in paris for 3 nights and having a good hotel really helps. I am not sure if (this is judging the space in my room) the space in the rooms would be sutible for disabled users. But overall, i enjoyed it, wonderful stay.

We were two adults with one child of six staying in a triple room at the Royal Aboukir. This was the first time at Royal Aboukir, and also first time in a hotel in central Paris (so I have nothing to compare with). It is in a very nice and central location on a quiet back street with shops and businesses that closes on weekends. The location is the best thing about this hotel. Otherwise, I think the hotel was nothing out of the ordinary: quite small rooms, some areas not very clean in room, not enough electrical sockets, some staff seemed too "reserved" (not attending to guests but to computer/telephone) (but always communicated in English, no language problems), an OK but a little limited breakfast buffet (but convenient, though). I expected a little more for the price we paid, but then again, I can not compare to other Parisian hotels.

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Aboukir for three nights. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel employees were very friendly and pleasant, and were happy to speak English to us. It is located not far from the Louvre, there is a Velib stand outside and the Metro station Strasbourg St Denis is only a few hundred metres away. For the money we paid, we think the Royal Aboukir would be hard to beat. We will stay there again on our next visit to Paris.

When I stayed at the Hotel, it was under construction (first week of june in 2007). The elevator is very small; the carpet was a little bit dirty, but the rooms are good. It is located at a very old building and the breakfast was not included in the price. I think it was a little bit expensive when comparing the service with price. The Hotel is near the subway, so you can easily trip through all the city.

2 adults, 1 child for 1 week in the triple room. The room was simple and tight, but adequate. The location is fabulous - 10 minutes to the Louvre and Pompidou, countless wonderful eateries and metro nearby. Friendly staff. Free wireless internet was a bonus. Bank machine next door. Some heavy items may need to be kept in the basement lobby (like strollers) because of the small rooms, but our room held 3 suitcases without being too tight. There is a safe, but it's not anchored so someone could walk away with the whole safe. Check-in and check-out times are strict. Communication in English is ok. The neighborhood is fine - we walked home at night with our child, the streets were well lit and we never felt unsafe. If you have difficulty with stairs or use a wheelchair, etc. accessibility will be difficult if not impossible. The hotel is a great deal for the price. If you come to Paris to see the city and not spend all day in the hotel room and whine about the loss of creature comforts - this is a definite choice for its location.

The hotel staff were not friendly at all. Upon arrival we were told that we could only stay the one night and that we'd be moved to another hotel for the remaining 2 nights as they had over booked. We had booked the room approximately 5 months prior and had emailed to confirm two days before and that we would arrive fairly late. We dutifully packed up the following day only to be told upon arrival in reception that we didn't have to move to another hotel. The staff were most unhelpful on all other occasions that we required anything – such as hot water in the shower as there was a complete lack of even warm water for two of the days and nights we were there.

I think that Royal Aboukir is a place to sleep (only to sleep) if you visit Paris for few days, is very good placed, in the center of the town, near to Musée du Louvre (10 min. walking). My triple room is a double room and we are very tight, but this is not the main problem. The main problem is the unsufficient warmth in the room and if you are out of the hotel by day, you don´t switch on the radiator because electricity is switch off. I think that this is a problem if you travel in Paris in December like we. I don´t have breakfast, can´t talk about it. The Venere Webpage Services are excellent, their customer service is very good and pleasant with their customers. I have a little problem with my credit card and I solve with them at moment.

First stay in Paris. Expected small rooms. Aboukir-Room are small, but clean and practical. People with more than 100kg will have problems. Hotel-location very good. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, especially since I didn't have that high expectations. But it turn out to be a nice and welcoming little hotel in a quiet street with walking distance to Les Halles and main attractions. And Rue Des Petits-Carreaux with all its cafes, restaurant and special food shops is just around the corner. I recomand to eat your croissants here instead of at the hotel! The room was very small and too many things were put in it. An airconditioner had just been installed, or whatever you call it. It made access to the closet impossible and hindered opening of the window (and was not necessary at the end of September). The free wifi was not wifi at all, but Ethernet over electricity which required a cable, which neither I nor the attendand the first night could find, but once I got it the next day, the connection was better than some Wifi connections that I have tried elsewhere. The TV was above the 2.30 meter level, almost in the ceiling but had an adequate choice of channels (mostly French, but hey, you have to learn the language of where you stay!). Breakfast was alright and the staff was very friendly. When going there, take the Metro to Sentier, as the road, Rue Aboukir has a worse and a good end. At the worse end you will find women for your comfort, but that is probably not the end you want to remember. Go for Sentier where you also find Rue Montmorceaux where you shop and dine well. Royal Aboukir certainly wont attract any royals, but the traveller on the cheap will enjoy the proximity to the city center. I would go there again, if I went alone. My room was very small.

Found the hotel good value for the price and would stay there again. It was central, clean and very quiet. The room was clean and our twin beds comfortable. On one occasion our room was not made up. When we went down to the desk to inform them of this and to ask for clean towels they were very apologetic and offered to move us to another room. The next morning they offered us a free breakfast. One of the nice things about the location of the hotel was the fact that there was a street about five minutes walk from it lined with restaurants, coffee shops, and food shops.

I had an excellent time in Paris, and a big part of that was the hotel. Close to the metro and markets. Very quiet street. The room was very comfortable. I would happily stay there again.

Hotel veramente carino.

I stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions in the summer of 2006. I got the exact same room both times, which I thought was very nice. Some minor improvements to the bathroom had been made the 2nd time. For the price, I thought the single room that I had was a very fair deal.

small rooms, small dining room, we enjoyed our stay, but not very much.

This hotel is unclean, situated in the red light area, the showers did not work properly, the A/C was laughable. The basement dining room was scruffy, and the breakfast abysmal. The food was not kept cool in the warm basement. If we had not arrived so late we would not have checked in.

The hotel was clean, safe and overall pleasant as was the staff. It is located in a quite street within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and some sights. Our room was on the top floor with great views of the city. If you plan on leaving during the early morning hours make sure to make transportation arrangements well in advance with the front desk, we found out the hard way.

Very good hotel for single budget traveller. Quiet and clean, with small but cosy rooms. As plus: many clean towels.

Finding the hotel was easy from directions. Room and bathroom were clean (cleanest bathroom of our 6 week trip) tho' room was a bit small and our double bed was actually twin beds. There was an extra 1 euro/person/day tax when we paid the bill. Close to the main attractions and rail.

I will not stay at the Royal Aboukir again. The bed cover smelled like cat urine, the walls are so thin I am very familiar with the details of our neighbors intimate life and the neighborhood was scary. Do not stay here or in this neighborhood.

The reception was great since we arrived at midnight afeter being lost for 2 hours. The gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful. The hotel itself is good, it is relative to the price we paid. The room and bathroom where clean but not neat. The location is good, specially if you would like to shop for the last fashion at a reasonable price. It didn't feel very safe waking at midnight from parking (5 blocks) to the hotel but during the day was o.k. just busy.

As a first time visitor to Paris, I was not sure of where to stay. I went with 3 friends, and this hotel was one of the few that would accomodate us. The hotel was not bad, though the room was not very spacious and we were on top of each other. The area of town that it is in is not very comforting, to describe it best. Although the Metro was a short walk, my friends and I did not feel very safe walking there.

A nice hotel but good location and value for money. Some confusion with the booking but nothing that wasn't sorted out promptly. Will use again when next visiting Paris.

We got a room in the Aboukir for New Year 2005. We were happy with the location, even though the surrounding areas are not exactly salubrious but it is reasonably central. The price was quite decent for the time of the year and the location (2eme arrondissement). However, next time we are going to try hotels on the other side of the river (5eme arr.) as the prices are cmparable and the area is much more fun with lots of restaurants and the Sorbonne nearby.

My room was clean, cozy and had everything I needed. The price matched what I recieved. The employees were nice and they had my reserved room waiting for me. Good location, not to busy but not too far away from all the sights.
