we stayed here for 5 nights. in 4 out of the 5 nights the lift was not working. we were on the top floor. thank god we are both fit. the pillow cases had hair on them. i doubt the beds were changed daily (just made up). the room which was suppose to be one of the better ones, was squashie but with a lovely aspect and relativly quiet because we were up so high. I could not get access to the "free" wireless internet ANYWHERE in the hotel. Their idea of "satelite" tv was interesting. But the worst of it was the attitude of the front desk staff. We put up with an array of service attitude ranging from arrogance on arrival, to them blatantly ignoring us at the desk as we waited to get our room key back at the end of a long day, to not following up on our requests (basic requests like we don't have any hot water in our room), to just "don't care - go away" type sighing and eye rolling to our inquiries about where to go and what to see. If they don't like working there, they should leave and find another job. We dreaded having to front up to the reception desk each afternoon and night to get our room key.Our stay in Paris was tainted thanks to the reception staff at this hotel. Never again!

Room was basic but decent and clean, and appeared to have been re-done lately with new bathroom fixtures and laminate flooring. Hallways have seen better days. Frequent noise of slamming doors and voices carrying from other rooms, and quite a bit of street noise. Location is great, about a 30-second walk to the Metro station and close to Sacre-Coeur. Easy to get to from Gare du Nord. Lots of interesting shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Good value for the price if you're looking for a basic hotel for a few days.

The room was small but adequet. The shower and toilet were clean. My only gripe was that they only changed my bedding once! Same with the towels. The staff were very friendly and very helpfull. The location is superb! In walking distance to EVERYTHING! I would highly reccomend staying here. I would certainly stay here again.

the air (climatization) was a godsend during a very hot july stay. the location is superb; the neighborhood is quite special, and off the beaten path. I'll go back again to this hotel, and that's saying a lot (for me).

Very very good. Our room face the street and the sacre coeur, and were very clean. I love the decorations of our room, i was very satisfied with the room and the surrounding of the Hotel, is very lovely and one thing very importan is that the metro is just downstairs. I would defenitly recommended

Nice place for the price. The room is kind of smallish, but that didn't bother me at all, although for two people it might be more of a problem. Still, I had the smallest room so larger rooms are probably fine. Clean, great location, not pricey. It was a little weird to give away the key every time I leave. Overall good value and awesome location

Room was nice but a little small. My only complaints are that there was no A/C system in the room, and there was no shower curtain. Can get a little noisy at night. Otherwise, it's a nice place.

The hotel is located right next to Metro station, which makes it very convenient from the commuter point of view. The sound insulation in the rooms is not very good - one can hear everything that goes on in the corridor (but this is very common with 2 star hotels in Paris); if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Otherwise, good hotel for its price and location.

I've stayed at 7th floor. Nice view of Sacre coeur. A little-big problem: i've washed my hair and...of course, i wanted to dry it...after 5 minutes with the dryer on, my room had remain without electricity. I went to reception and i was told not to use dryer again in a very offensively way. He told me that the hotel is full and it is an old problem. Why doesn't they fix it?!?!

Room was fine! Had two beds and table and chairs and mini bar. Bed was comfy.Nice view out window of Paris streets. The bathroom was big and the shower was great. The location was good as it was just the right distance from the Moulin Rouge and the Sacre Coeur was within walking distance and the area around there was lovely. Would go back again. The staff helpful.

The best aspect of this hotel is its location; it was right near a metro station and very close to the beautiful Sacre Coeur. If you're looking to stay in shape while on vacation, choose this hotel because you will get a lot of walking (and stair-climbing) in! It was great exercise. The room itself was a bit small, but who spends much time in their hotel room while in Paris, right!? At night, we could hear the noise from the street below (at one point, it sounded like we were in the middle of a huge construction project), but it didn't really keep me from sleeping. I think my husband used ear-plugs. There were great bakeries and pastry shops nearby where we picked up croissants and baguettes in the morning. Yum!

I've been to Paris many times and have stayed at a lot of hotels. At these rates, this is the best yet. The location is not great, but it is very close to Montmartre and literally steps away from a Metro station. The rooms are very nicely decorated and quite big for Parisian standards, even though I wouldn't reccomend breakfast and the staff was rather rude and not very helpful. Still, I would definitely go back.

DO NOT STAY HERE! WE WANTED TO STAY ON THE 4TH FLOOR OF THIS HOTEL AS THE END LEG OF OUR HONEYMOON. I RANG THE HOTEL FOR AVALIABILITY OF THE TOP FLOOR ROOMS AS THERE ARE ONLY 4. I WAS ASSURED THAT ONE WAS FREE SO I BOOKED IT. WE ARRIVED AND WERE GIVEN A TINY ROOM ON THE 5TH FLOOR. NO VIEW AS REQUESTED, NO BALCONY AS REQUESTED. I SPOKE TO THE 'RECEPTIONIST' STRAIGHT AWAY. HE DIDNT HELP IN ANY WAY, AND EVEN HAD THE CHEEK TO SUGGEST THAT I WAS LYING! WE COULD IGNORE THE RIDICULOUS GREEN PLASTIC CARPET, AND THE AMATEURISH DECORATION (YELLOW!) THE BREAKFAST WAS COLD COFFEE AND STALE COISSANTS. FOR 10e! I WAS TOLD THE MANAGER WAS ON 'HOLIDAY' NONE OF THE OTHER RECEPTION STAFF WOULD TELL ME THE NAME OF THE MANAGER, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!!! OBVIOUSLY COVERING FOR THE PERSON WHO RUINED OUR STAY. AND GET THIS, WE CAME BACK FROM A NIGHT OUT NOT THAT LATE AND THE RECEPTIONIST WAS BEHIND THE RECEPTION ON THE FLOOR ASLEEP UNDER A DUVET!! THANK GOD THERE WASNT A FIRE!! UPON LEAVING THE 'RECEPTIONIST' TRIED TO CHARGE US 10 EUROS MORE FOR THE TRANSFER THAN THE ADVERTISED VENERE PRICE. I STILL HAVENT MANAGED TO CONTACT THE MANAGER AS EVERY TIME I RING I GET TOLD BY VARIOUS DIFFERENT VOICE THAT THEY ARE THE MANAGER. NO APOLOGY, NO DISCOUNT, NO EXPLANATION. MUCH BETTER HOTELS IN THE AREA FOR THE MONEY, WITH BETTER VIEWS, CLEANER ROOMS, BETTER FOOD AND MUCH BETTER STAFF. BE WARNED. (dont eat up by the sacre couer, the tourist restaurants are terrible and very expensive. dont use the hotel transfer save yourself 50 euros and get the underground straight to charles de gaule airport for 3 euros! it may not sound like it but paris was amazing! )

we stayed June 4th and 5th, were VERY happy that we got a huge room with balcony and view of Sacre-Coeur... If not for that, we would have been bothered by the broken A/C, semi-noisy street at night, less-than-helpful day clerk, etc. The top floor is not served by the elevators, but has 4 rooms; three of them are extra-large and we got one. Bringing the luggage up and down the stairs was a pain, but we loved the view at night, and couldn't imagine how we would have survived if the room was only half the size of ours (which many of the others were). Just 30 seconds' walk to the metro, and a great patisserie (Le Grenier a Pain) located about 2 and a half blocks to the east (walk to the left if you leave the hotel in the morning) ...not the only one in the area, of course, but that was the best! Enjoy the Astroturf carpeted hallways/stairs, and funky hippy/hostel paint job, and you'll be fine. Expect a stuffy, traditional environment? Go somewhere else. The desk staff had a bit of a 'laissez-faire' attitude, and didn't seem too involved with anyone staying there, but it was a place where you tend to walk in past the small check-in area, and hit the tiny elevator to head directly to your room. Simple, decent value. We arrived via overnight train from Italy into Gare de Bercy (near Gare d'Austerlitz on east side of town) and paid 25 euro for approximately 25 minute taxi ride (in a new Mercedes!). Hotel staff arranged our ride to airport; it cost 45 euro to Charles de Gaulle, which is what other taxi drivers quoted me also. We don't go to Paris often, but I wouldn't mind staying again if we can have 'our' room back!

An excellent hotel for a perfect, romantic weekend in Paris. Closeness to Montmarte and excellent communication by the metro right outside the hotel entrance. Numerus restaurants, cafés, bakery and small shops nearby. The only consideration is the papperwalls without any soundproof. Still – the location overshadows any other shortage!

Spent a 4 nights break at this hotel which looked lovely from the photos and arrival. On arrival in the room we spent 1 hour considering moving to another hotel. The cleanliness of the rooms was excellent but the room was very small with a quirky colour scheme which takes some getting used to. The hotel interior is in need of refurbishment Faulty door locks, the staircase could do without the Astro Turf. We were on the third floor and needed to take extra care negotiating the narrow stairs and loose handrails, also washing drying over the banister rails. The photos of the hotel were appealing but I wish we had found somewhere else which provided better facilities. A good breakfast is available in the bar adjoining the Hotel. Dont use the taxi. 90euros Gare Du Nord to Hotel. Use Metro 5 day rover = £27.

We stayed for 2 nights just after new year. Room was simple but quite adequate. The rooms which look over the main road are a bit noisy, but it is not a big problem. The hotel is on top of the metro station and there are nice bars / places to eat nearby. For the price it was fine.

We stayed for a long weekend (thursday to sunday). We were out all day and only stayed at the room for sleeping, so we didn't mind de small room. the bathroom is small but functional (shower, toilet, sink with mirror). There is no blow-dryer in the room. either bring your own or get one at the reception. Overall: a very good location (right next to a metro station and about a 10min walk to the famous sacre coeur). you get good value for your money. I think it's one of the best places to stay in paris for a low budget.

This hotel has a lot of potential. They are busy upgrading the interior of all the rooms it seems. It is situated in a very nice suburb, within 5 minutes walk of the top of se Mont Matre. Some of the fittings of our shower was missing and when we enquired about it the receptionist said that there was nothing wrong with the shower. We persisted that we want it fixed and we were told that we could check out if we like. Eventually the receptionist raised her voice at us. This was totally unnecessary, but one would expect even the small things in a hotel room to be in perfect working order. Otherwise we had a good stay. I would say one could stay at a better hotel for this price. We won't stay at Roma-Sacre Coeur again.

Cool place to stay. Very close to Sacré-Coeur and the Metro. Unfortunately the metro station 10 meters around the corner was closed due to reconstruction in May 2006. We had no breakfast though stated in the internet booking. "Internet booking is always without breakfast" the receptionist told us. But this is no problem unless you are a very very convenient or lazy traveler. The elevator is small but the smoothest in operation I have ever seen. The room was sufficient for two adults and the bathroom was clean. Even when taking the fact into consideration that you will not sit in your hotel room while visiting Paris anyway - it IS a hotel that you will like to come back to.

Very nice hotel, conveniently located next to Metro station and easy to find. Day time staff on reception spoke good English and were helpful and friendly. Room was good value for money but too warm for our liking. However, opening the window resulted in excessive street noise. It was necessary to hire a remote control from reception for extra 10 euros to operate the air conditioner/heater in the room so as to control the temperature. No street noise was heard when the window was shut. We always ate breakfast at a local bar or cafe although breakfast was available at the hotel as an extra, but breakfast area looked rather small.

This is a great hotel for people under 40. Wonderful location. The hotel is decorated in a simple and fun way. Our room looked out over the cafe which to us added to the atmosphere. The hotel has a lift which was very much appreciated since we travelled by train and Metro and carried our luggage up the 92 steps at the Metro stop. There is a lift in the Metro station but it was not working. We went to a fantastic restaurant very close by. The value for money is very high for this hotel. It is a simple hotel with all the basics in a great location and a great price. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

The rooms and bathrooms are clean and have a good size(and we had one of the smaller double bed rooms) and the personal is very, very helpful and friendly. We didn't try the breakfast, we preferred to eat in one of the thousand cafés out there, it's just more parisienne-style ;). A bus line and the metro-station are just 2 min. away, you can walk to the Sacre Coeur Church in less then 10 min. This hotel is decorated and arranged with so much individuality and it's located in the heart of montmartre. The only negative thing during our stay was the building lot from the metro-station directly under our window and that they startet to scarify the road in the middle of the night!!! (but it must be finished yet, the metro-station is completed since 14.06., that's what they wrote)and this noise wasn't the fault of the hotel at all! We will definately come back here when we visit paris the next time!

even in the higher room that i stayed i think they need better sound isolation. the room was "artistic club"with nice colours. not spacious but ok. the basin in the bath was little.the radiator was dirty.two lamps were broken when i entered the room and they took almost one day to fix them. the croissants in the 7,5 euro breakfast were very cold.is it so expensive to heat them? the employees very friendly and they seem to work hard. too many stairs from the metro to the hotel, especially difficult with the luggages. the restaurant next to the hotel expensive. but there was a mini market very close. i asked them through venere to give me a double bed and they gave me two seperated beds which were very light and very easy to move.this was not good.

The hotel was nice enough but the decoration in the rooms was a little hard on the eyes. Whenever you used the hairdryer provided by the hotel in the bathroom for more than 10minutes the fuse blew.Although the staff were lovely the breakfast was a complete and utter ripoff - for €14 (€7 each) you got a tray with two cups of coffee two croissants two pain au chocolat and one baguette - terrible value for money!

The hotel was in an excellet spot - right next to a Metro and a short walk (uphill!) from the heart of Montmartre. There were some lovely cafes close by - including the one right next door, where we had dinner a couple of times. We didn't try the breakfast as there were plenty of places nearby that were less cramped and had a better atmosphere, but it was convenient to know that it was an option. The hotel was clean and comfortable and our (twin) room was spacious enough. There was some street noise, but it wasn't particularly bad, and no worse than you'd expect from anywhere on a main road. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris - I'm happy to say that we didn't experience any problems with the staff, they were all courteous and spoke some English. One point: all the information on the site, and in the hotel, says check-out at midday. However, we were asked to check-out by 11am. Not a problem for us, but worth noting.

The Good: hotel was clean, rooms good size and value, breakfast satisfactory and they allowed you to take trays to room, because breakfast area too crowded.Location was excellent, right beside subway stop, but we wish knew name of stop before walking a mile up hill the first time. The Bad: A purse containing passport, eurrail, bank card, credit card, and one hundred euros was stolen from our room. Although my daughter should not have left it in room and visible, expected better from this accomodtion. The Ugly: The nightclerk refused to help us when it was discovered. We had had to change rooms, and there was chance it was in other room, but he refused to ask the people in room, refused to help us at all, and just continued to inist that we had to wait till morning till the manager arrived. Only when I started to inform everyone coming into rooms, did he finally allow us access to internet to cancel creditcard etc, and give us any assistance. The owner was not much more help the next day, just kept insisting they employ no theives. Luckily my 14 yr old daughter speaks some french, bc the owner wasn't able to communicate in English, and yelled at her for an hours in French. This was after we had just spent the entire night in police station. Eventually the owner gave us 20euros for the inconvience, to pay for transportation and buy food, and a free night stay because we had to stay in paris an extra day to get new passport, and had spent previous night in police station vs the room. Although we checked out with the owners, when we came back to retrieve our luggage later that evening, it was locked up and held hostage in demand for the 30euros, and we thus missed our night train to Nice and were stuck sleeping in the train station. Also, note that they charge for breakfast.

I would not recommend this hotel. Small hallways, not handicap accessible (up 4 stairs to get to the lift), and it had terrible interior decor. Additionally, our room did not have any towels, and when we requested them, we had to wait until the next morning for more to be delivered/cleaned so that we could shower.

The hotel is very nice in the charming and quieter part of Montmartre, near "La Butte". However, my entire staying in the hotel was ruined on my last day when one of the persons working in the reception sexually harrassed me by touching me and making sexual remarks and suggestions. So, if you are woman and travelling without your boyfriend/husband, stay clear of this hotel.

Fine hotel with nice coloured rooms in a romantic area... if there would not be this street in front of your window...

The surrounding area is very nice. The hotel is right next to the Lamarck metro stop. The view from our room was great: you can have a view of the Sacre Coeur or the rooftops of Paris. The rooms overlooking the rue Caulaincourt are noisy at night. We asked for another room and were given a quiter one without a problem. The rooms are nicely painted but are small. Overall, we liked the service and the surroundings.

It was a very nice stay. Our room wasn't spacious (perhaps they have bigger rooms), but it was very clean, the twin beds good, the bathroom new renovated and our first impression was: really nice! We are in Paris and the hotel faces two streets, so don't expect a graveyard peace, but it wasn't loud. We had a room on the fifths floor and were sleeping with opened windows. It was possible, only in the morning you'll hear the cars (the street cleaning sounds loud), but remember you're in Paris not in the country. The staff was friendly. We didn't have breakfast, but it should be okay for (only) 7,50 Euro/person. All in all the relationship between price and quality was really excellent. We definitely will come back!

The hotel was very warm and the windows had to be open during the night. This meant that it was very noisy and we had little sleep. The location was very good and there were plenty of bars/cafes/restaurants and shops. The metro station was just outside the hotel which was really good. It would have been helpful if the hotel supplied fans for the rooms.

I had a very bad experience staying at the Roma Sacre Coeur in Paris. The Manager was very nasty towards me once realising that I did not speak french. He did not even have the time to help me with my phone card as it was written in french. I had an unexpected phone call put through to my room that I did not receive as I had just locked my door from the outside, and on arriving at reception I was told in a very rude manner that I should have stayed in my room as the manager did not have time to push buttons and put calls through that were not taken.

I stayed at Hotel Roma Sacre Couer for three nights in late May '05. My first night was in a single room, then I was joined by a relative and we stayed two nights in a twin room. When booking I requested a quiet room, and was put on the 5th floor (first night) then moved to the 6th for the other two. This made little difference to the noise level from the street below, in which there are a few cafes, the entrance to a Metro station and lots of traffic, all producing street noise well into the night, especially on Friday night. I'm just one of these people that doesn't sleep well with traffic noise, so double glazing would have helped enormously with this problem. Given its corner location, I'm not sure whether there are any really quiet rooms not facing a street. That would be worth checking if you are considering booking this hotel. Generally, the hotel is more like a hostel in its approach to decor, with over-bright paintwork and strange faux grass carpets. That aside, the rooms were clean, some amenities were provided in the bathrooms and there was a reasonable amount of space. I didn't have the hotel's breakfast, which was six Euros extra and not bad value, but it's much more fun getting out and sitting at the local cafes. For the price (we paid 70 Euros per night for a twin room), Roma Sacre Coeur is good value if you don't mind street noise and not being within a stone's throw to central Paris. The rooms I stayed in were clean and had great views over Parisian rooftops. Hotel staff are (mostly) friendly and helpful and its location, just behind Sacre Coeur in Montmarte, is great to walk around. There are also two laundromats, two supermarkets, several cafes and boulangeries, plus a shoe repair shop (something I needed!) nearby. It wasn't for me though, so after we had completed our booked stay, we moved to a hotel that was much more conveniently located in a quiet street in the Trocadero area.

This is a small, friendly hotel in an ideal location next to a Metro stop within 5 minutes of the Sacre Coeur. 'Interesting' decor...!Rooms are not large but are clean and big enough (although the bed could have been larger). The top (7th) floor rooms have fantastic views and access to a balcony. My only, minor, criticism was that, while the hotel is situated in a relatively quiet area, there is a fair amount of internal disturbance from the lift, from the plumbing, and and from other guests returning i.e. there is poor internal sound-proofing. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

Outstanding location next door to metro (Lamarck) in Montmartre. Friendly staff who understood our poor French and could speak English. Reasonably priced breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms but basic. Would stay here again. Ideal for couples on a short break, possibly cramped with children, especially at breakfast.
