As for price and quality, I think this was the worst hotel I booked through venere. The shower room door, heating were not functioning. The blancket was extremely thin.. It was a very cold night. The wifi connection was not avilable.(there was but the signal might be very week and I could not capture the signal.) It was only for one night, but would never return. The only good thing is that it was extremely close to the north station.

We had an incredible stay in Paris at this hotel. It was our first time in Paris and we were very pleased with the location of this property. Also, the staff was very helpful and the room was just perfect for what we needed :) it was clean, and even though it was small it was perfect. I would highly recommend staying here!

After having seen the critics for this hotel, I thought I should issue a statement here as well. I went there a couple of weeks ago for almost one week and found the hotel pretty good and cheap, keeping in mind that it's Paris where most hotels seem to be either expensive or dirty (only judging by the research I had done before). Both our room and bath room where clean (I don't know, maybe we were just lucky). The window was in the direction of the backyard which is why it was quiet (what you don't expect when you know it's near gare du nord). Speaking of gare du nord, the hotel obviously isn't in the center, but it only takes a few minutes to get to the places a tourist wants to see. Thereby, the connections are pretty good, wherever you want to go. I also found the people working there very polite, helpful and competent - can't complain! Internet and TV were working as well :). We didn't have breakfast there though, because you had to pay for it but comparing with other hotels in Paris, the price was the same. I also know it's not a luxury hotel but the price is definitely okay for what you get!

You get what you pay for, overall it's the perfect place for a short stay in Paris,Gare du Nord train sta is accross the street with access to some metro lines, bus lines are a step away from the front door, breakfast is served next door, it may seem expensive but is not, you can eat as much as you want and even take some for the road if needed. This is a typical European Hotel located in the heart of the City, if you are out at night and need to take a taxi anll you need to know in French is Gare Du Nord, the rest you can do on your own. And a plus , there is an elevator and individual air condition unit in the room.

we did not stay at hotel booked but around the corner. the staff was helpful, however, they where having electrical problems, lights going on and off, i was stuck in the elevator during a blackout. I think this old building needs a complete electrical overhaul and other fixings including smoke alarm in case of electrical fire. the place was extremely noisy at night outside. my friend said she saw roaches downstairs by the pond when she turned the lights on. would not eat bkf in basement because of that. It does have excellent location for traveling around, you need large ear plugs for outside noise, and the staff was congenial despite their difficulties tried to keep everyone content. I would return only for the location convenience

It is not a city center hotel but it is well connected by train, RER, and metro to any place. They are in the process of renewing elements, ie new elevator. Individual room air conditioning is on-going. A reasonable hotel for short stays.

Everything up to our expectations, but woken early first morning by neibouring builders, which, I guess, couldn't be helped. Superb location, Helpful staff, certain amount of renovation work being carried out,but this did not affect our stay. Would use again. Would prefer a higher bed, and tea/coffee making facilities, but overwise, all fine

The Richmond Gare du Nord is in the perfect location to explore Paris. However, this means that they are always guaranteed bookings and are therefore complacent about basic cleanliness and customer service. The room had not been thoroughly cleaned (hairs in the sink, toenail on the bedroom floor...) and the staff did not go out of their way to welcome or help guests at all. The main concern for us, however, was security: the lock on our bedroom door did not work and on one occasion a member of staff walked in without even knocking. We were also told we had to leave our keycard at reception and could not take it out with us. On our return the new receptionist (who we had not met before) simply handed us the card without checking our identity, making us realise how easy it would be for any random person to ask for our key and gain access to our room. A good location but not a hotel we would choose to stay in again.

Good location to a main rail station and eating outlets. Easy access to CdeG airport by train or shuttle (arranged by hotel). No air conditioning available so was very hot in rooms necessitating having windows open which was very noisy all night. In need of an upgrade as several areas were quite shabby.

Very old hotel. Dirty, blankets had holes and room smelled bad. No air conditioning or fans, mosquitoes. Surrounding areas are bad, a lot of people that were up to no good just standing at street corners, staring at you, drunk people, etc. A lot of noise from other floors throughout the night. Since it is right in front of Gare du Nord I imagine people arrive late and check-in, but make a lot of noise. We stayed for 3 nights and could not sleep well in any of them. People would make noise at 2am, 3am and even 5am. Floors are wood covered with carpet, so you can hear people walking, dropping things on the floor, walking up the stairs, etc. Very bad experience, will never go back. We wanted to stay close to Gare du Nord for taking the early train to London but while we were there we could find better hotels with good location for just 10 euro more.

During small heath wave in Paris, the following message was posted inside the elevator: "There is an air conditioning unit in your room. We apologize that it is out of service". So in order to survive we had to open the window facing the square in front of Gare du Nord. Our room was at 1st floor. It was very, very noisy long into the early hours of the morning.

When arriving in Paris we were a bit lost and had to call reception to get directions, the first staff member was rude but then I called back and recieved help and was able to find the hotel. That one staff member was the only nice/ helpful person in that hotel. The room was clean and a nice size for the price but don't bother asking for toilet paper or pillows as you will be asked to come to reception to pick them up even between 9am-5pm. The time we stayed in Paris, tempratures reached 40 degrees celcius and the hotel refused to switch on the air conditioning which was in our room. For the 4 days that we stayed in Paris they were not turned on. Hotel is close to transport and food facilities within 5 minutes walk but besides that not really a nice area to walk around. Hotel was over price considering it wasn't close to any tourist attractions and had no views

This was my first time at this hotel but my second time in Paris and by comparison the rooms (bedroom and bathroom) were very spacious. The room I had was at the back and no street noise could be heard although roudy room mates could be a problem. The location was ideal for me on the RER to CDG and to central Paris although the area is not as 'nice' as the Sorbonne area we stayed in previously. The room was cleaned and reset each day and clean although the carpet in the hall and reception needs replacing. All in all an ok place to stay and while not central everthing is within easy reach

Si confermano i commenti di altri utenti. La stanza era decisamente piccola così come le aree comuni dell'hotel (nell'ascensore si entra a stento 4 persone ed un piccolo zaino). Vantaggi: fermata metro proprio sotto l'hotel , stazione treni in faccia all'hotel e parecchi ristoranti anche economici (consiglio Buffalo Grill) nelle immediate vicinanze. Consigliato solamente a chi ci deve stare la sera per dormire (Parigi è faticosa da visitare , si arriva stanchi e non si sentono rumori esterni ....)

This hotel was in a great location. It was right across from the Gare du Nord station and the metro was right in front of the hotel. We were able to get to all the places in the city center very easily. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful with information about the area and how to get around to places. The parking garage is not far but was a little annoying that you had to go to another hotel (New Hotel) to get the key. There are only two parking spots in the garage and hard to get a large vehicle in it. The staff needed to move our car for another guess to be able to park so one of the maids took our car keys from our room and gave it to a staff member from the New Hotel to move our car without permission while we were out sight seeing. That was a little unnerving. But the only complaint that we had about the hotel. We have a family of five and were given a room on the top floor. It was plenty big enough for us and very clean. The water pressure in the shower was good and the beds were comfortable after a long day of touring. I would stay in this hotel again but travel without my car next time.

We are a family of 5 - 3 kids ages 10 and under. This hotel was great for the location for the weekend. I would not stay in it longer than that if I had to, but it is a good hotel. It is right across the street from the train station and metro so you can hop on a train and see the sights very easily. We came into Paris on train and I wanted a hotel close to the station so we didn't have to haul luggage and keep track of kids among the possible crowds. Perfect for that!!! Someone mentioned a bakery near by for breakfast, we did not find it, but the train station had some places with pateries that worked. Resturants galore around the hotel, but not all cheap - we paid 80Euro for pizza one night! The front desk clerk does take your key when you leave the hotel, but this is standard with many European cities. Our room was small by American standards, but for the price it worked and we really were only there to sleep, shower and rest when needed. Never feared for our safety or that anything was going to be stolen (we always travel with our laptop). Overall a good hotel to stay in if you are there to explore the city for a few days.

I knew a hotel room in Paris was going to be expensive, so I picked something that would be functional and convenient, but did not expect anything grand. The room was small, but the hotel was functional and convenient. The best thing I can say is I would use this hotel again if I was using the channel tunnel, and planned on being out in the city all day. It was across the street from the station (Gare de Nord), we had a balcony on the 5th floor, there were bars and restuarants on the street. There was no air conditioning, and after our day trip to versailles, and then the Eiffel Tower on the hottest day of the year, I was dreading what our room would be like when we returned. It was not bad, we opened the window, had showers to cool down, sat on the balcony with a couple of beers watching the activity below, and got to sleep fairly easily. A friend here in the states said it was in a dangerous part of Paris. I felt as safe as could be. It ain't the Ritz, but if you want reasonably priced, in an unreasonably priced city, and can "rough it" for a few days, this suits the bill. And to non pampered non Americans, maybe it isn't roughing it: it is lively on the street below till 2am, across from the station and metro, what more do you need if you plan to get out and see the city?

The room is so far alright in terms of cleanliness and convenient for tranportation. However it is a bit noisy from the street. However it is good to have free WiFi service. The lift is small but it served its purpose.

What we expected for the cost, location and rating. If your room is facing the street it can be a little noisy.

Excellent value for money accommodation if you need to be by Gare du Nord and it is only for one night. I would recommend this hotel for an overnight stay but would not recommend it for a longer duration.

Convenient location for travel on Eurostar. Suitable as a stop-off for a short break. Plenty of restaurants close by. Room needed some re-decoration.

It's a very small hotel in a very good location, in front of a Metro and Train Station Gare du Nord. The rooms were just 'ok'. When we entered our room we found a very big pile of towels and used bed sheets in top of our bed. I guess that was just a mistake from the one in charge of cleaning the room.

Personnel was very rude and not professional. The room was small, fairly clean, but there was a terrible smell of smoke everywhere I had to "sleep" with the window opened to get a little air. The only good thing is the location, in front of gare du nord.

Location, Location, Location... Hotel Richmond is within throwing distance from Gard De Nord's Train Station. If you're going to Paris via the EuroStar of CDG Airport, this is the perfect place to use as a home base. The only thing that caught us off guard, was the fact that no hotel keys we aloud out of the hotel! When you're going out, leave the key at the front desk... Other than that, it was fine!

I was very unhappy with the desk policy & clerks. While I understand that they are in a high crime area, I found it VERY annoying that I was required to leave my key when I went out to dinner. The night clerk (BRUNO) was an evangelical Christian who made it his duty to question you re: your faithwhen you asked for the return of your key. Also, he made it quite clear that friends would not be allowed to visit, & was in general a strange, cold man. The bathroom in my room was not the cleanest; however I saw a different room with a better bathroom so this may not apply to all rooms. As for 'public areas' that is a laugh as there are none at the Richmond. Just a vestibule with the desk clerk leading to the lift & a staircase. In a nutshell, the Richmond was a bit creepy & unless you need to catch an early train from the Gard du Nord (as I did) there is no reason whatsoever to stay here.

Two details: 1. Elevator too small 2. Some rooms suffer from the noise done by the elevator door

The hotel is ok for the cheap price, close to the railway station (easy to reach airports). The room big and toilet new and clean. BUT impossible to sleep later than 7 am cause workers IN THE HOTEL have no respect at all. Recommend if you want a cheap but clean hotel. NOT recommended if you want to relax and sleep well.

Good budget hotel in good location. Could be cleaner, needs to be redecorated. Breakfast not included, the owner has another hotel nearby and that is where you go for breakfast. Overall I would recommend it for the location, price and quiteness
