We stayed in a room for 3 people. most of it was proper altough there were a few hair on the bed. the room was very small but we didn`t spend too much time in it. Next to the hotel was a food store and various restaurants.we were comfortable with the surroundings.

Even though I am notoriously cheap, I would not stay here again. While I knew there was no lift, the spiral staircase was so narrow that one of us slipped virtually every time we descended. Smallest european room I ever stayed in. Corner bath felt like it came out of an RV:-) Distance to Metro was a little greater than ideal. I must say that the Cafe de la Gar around the corner was excellent! Great people (especially Renee) and good food and beer. Also a shout out to the bakery around the corner on Rue Jouffroy d'Abans. Pleasant madame always greeted our poor French with a warm smile.

This hotel is a little bit far from most central locations however it is well connected with bus services. The closest subway stop is not very close. The hotel is clean and quiet. The rooms are quiet and spacious. However, based on the price level do not expect to find a 4 or 5 stars hotel. There are many shops and coffee shops nearby. The hotel is good value for money.

We absolutely loved this hotel. The breakfast was great, staff spoke good enough to English to to help us out. Good area. Parking was a hassle, especially a weekend night. Metro was a comfortable walk away, ten minute stroll. Laundry mat two blocks away.

While we were here, there was a problem with hot water ie. there wasnt any. We stayed from Sunday to Tuesday and I didnt get to shower till Tuesday. No apologies, no explanation, and no compensation. Otherwise, the hotel was ok, although I feel the prices were a little too high for the quality of the hotel. Breakfast, if chosen, was a little 'hit and miss', and the staff werent going out of their way to keep up with supplies. I would return here, but for no more than one short night.

Room do not have air con as stated in the web-site. The staff provide free of charge breakfast to compensate for this. Also the room is extremely small. Location is good and it is value for money.

What a brilliant Hotel! If you want a good, clean, cheap hotel - This is ideal.Great location although Metro is further than stated - more like 10 to 15 mins walk. Great staff and very good rooms. The photo's of room sizes and bathroom sizes are poor but what you end up with is generally adequite for travellers.I wouldnt bother with the breakfast - just go right out of the hotel and there are brilliant Boulangeries which you outside seating at a third of the price. All in all a great hotel for the money!

We (me and my girlfriend) really like this hotel, a bit of a walk to the subway, but we're probably a bit spoiled. Great surroundings with parks & plenty of food vendors!

This hotel is worn down and needs more then just renovations. The services offered on the web are not available ( parking, etc.) and if you have a bigger suitcase you have problems to get it up the staircase. There is no lift available, the staircase is filthy and the receptionists are unfriendly and incompetent. At home my wardrobe is bigger then the rooms in this hotel. You bang your elbows in the bathroom when you bursh your teeth ( that's how small everything is in there ).

Service was pooor to average depending on which bloke was on reception. There were no lifts in the hotel and we were placed on the top floor despite the fact that there were other rooms free. On our second day the maid left our bedroom door open after she had cleaned it! There was a basic lack of service in that they did not even have equipment like adapters for your appliances - and this a hotel that caters mostly for Brits. If you asked for a taxi to be booked they would quiz you on where you were going and often try to persuade you to take another mode of transport even if that was not your wish.Cleaning in the rooms was adequate but superficial.Security was appalling and there were no fire exits or fire extinguishers in the whole place. The day after we left another hotel in Paris could fire, killing 20 travellers, so this is not something to be taken lightly. Overall I would say that this is an average budget hotel for those who are looking simply for a place to crash at the end of the day. However, I have been to this level of hotel before and still received 5* service so there is no reason why Prince Monceau cannot raise its game.

Previous reviewers have commented on how noisy the rooms can be but this depends on the location of your room (as well as how considerate the other guests on your floor are). There are 5 rooms on each floor, 3 along a corridor (room numbers ending 01/02 and 03), and 2 on the right just before the corridor (room numbers ending 04 and 05). These 2 are probably the quietest rooms due to the fact that there are less people walking past your room. However, the trade off is in the size of the room you end up with. The ones along the corridor are larger and have a bath whereas the others are smaller and have a tiny shower room (no bath). All in all though, the value for money can't be bettered. Be aware however - this is an old building and as such, only has one entrance/exit i.e. there are no separate fire escapes. This is permitted in Paris when the building is old.

It is a good little hotel - especially at the price. We were lucky and had one of the bigger rooms which made a difference I think. If you don't like narrow staircases ask for a room ground level or so. With no lifts it can be a bit of a climb to the top floors. Enjoyed the stay and would stay there again.

Car parking is not really possible (the four or five places in front of the hotel are never free), so I had to look for a parking house.

The fact that the breakfast charges are not included in the rent should be made known to the guests at the time of booking or atleast chech-in.

Very nice hotel in a quiet area. The service is - plain and simple - excellent in every aspect. The bathroom in the single accomodation is too tiny, but very clean and so is the room. The only two things which I can find fault is the noise level inside the rooms, which can be annoying at times (including neighbours if you're watching TV, probably). Then there's some facilities which have been mentioned on venere.com which I simply missed there. The hotel also is in a very good location, a step away from bus 31 which will take you to the Arc de Triumph in 10 minutes. From there you can reach any place in Paris. Restaurants and shops are around (in case you're looking for Champs Elysée stuff, you're wrong here), so are internet cafés for those interested. A 10 minute walk to the Monceau parc and metro lines is acceptable, as long as you're not carrying loads of bags. So better check out the location before you arrive, bus 31 being the best option as mentioned above. To conclude: it's on the top of the list of 2-star hotels I've seen so far.

When entering the room, dirty towels were laying on the floor. In the bath the ceiling was just painted and sprinkels of colour were everyhere in the bath and on the floor of the bedroom. I told this five times(!) to the receptionist, before they tried to clean it. But they couldn´t clean it properly, because the colour had become hard on toilet, shower and the floor. They didn´t offer me another room or reduced the price.
