The street in front of the hotel should be cleaned often. You need a couple of plants by and in the entrance. The room needs a dresser with drawers for people staying longer than overnight. The shower needs a soap dish.

I have been to Paris several times and this hotel was a pleasant surprise for me. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, the hotel location is excellent, though it is next to Gare de Lyon, the area is far better and safer than Gare du Nord/Gare de l'Est. What is negative - small rooms, no wardrobe in my room (my colleague had one anyway), only hangers but I survived it somehow. Overall this was well worth for the money I paid, I would recommend to anybody not addicted to luxury.

Very close to Gare De Lyon station which was why this hotel was chosen. Close to cafes, restaurants, pharmacy, etc., makes this location very convenient. Staff were helpful but not overly open, small rooms though for the price & breakfast was the standard coffee and croissant. NO INTERNET in the lounge.

Excellent location across from Gare de Lyon. The room and large (for Paris) bathroom were impeccably clean. Unfortunately, our room - Room 1 - had the drain outlet column for the floors above running through it in a cupboard right by the bed. Every time anyone flushed a toilet or drained a basin anywhere above us, the sound of rushing water woke us at all hours of the night. At 5.00 am, a delivery of clean linen to the hotel took place - with much banging and shouting - right outside our window. Our overall impression of the hotel was that it was clean and well-run but - after a sleepless night - we would warn any guest NOT to accept Room 1, if it were offered. Rooms elsewhere in the hotel may well be absolutely OK and, had we been staying more than one night, we would definitely have requested a change.

Covenient location in front of train station but can be a little difficult to find as there are many streets in front of train station. Friendly staff. Was there a cologne sprayed in our room? The smell was very strong when we walked in. Other than that rooms were clean and large. Loved that they maintain the character of the building.

This Hotel is a very good compromize between costs, location and adjacent services as banks, markets, boulangeries, restourants). The street Gilbert is very quiet. For the dinner we suggest La Place Royal in Place des Vosges (metro 1, stop Bastille or Saint Paul).

We were very pleased with the hotel, the quality of the hotel and the standard of service were very high. One thing to mention is the classic French breakfast - which was not inclusive - which isn't as comprehensive or cohesive as hotel breakfasts we've enjoyed in Berlin, Amsterdam or Rome. With the Gare de Lyon over the road and restuarants like Les Garnements nearby, perhaps better value could be found elsewhere.

The Palym is very close to Gare Lyon which was very good for us as we were traveling by train and this was our first visit to Paris. Now that we have discovered that the metro system has no peer in our experience, we will probably stay elsewhere in the city should we return someday. The only drawback to the Palym for us was that the air conditioning system is centrally controlled and the evenings were exceptionally warm and uncomfortable in our rooms making sleep difficult. If you leave your windows open to get some relief, you get swamped by all the street noise especially near the train station.

Really enjoyed my 4 night stay at the Palym at the end of May 2012 and will stay there again the next time I am in Paris. I was in a small-ish single room, but plenty large enough for a solo traveller. Bathroom / bedroom spotlessly clean. I found the shower cubicle quite small and I am no more than average height/weight. Nevertheless this was not a major problem. The bathroom itself was a reasonable size. Staff very friendly, helpful, and this was a major plus. So a big thanks to all of the staff at the Palym. Hotel is opposite the Gare de Lyon station so very handy for getting around Paris. Surrounding area is safe, busy until late at night with plenty of bars/resturants so would never go hungry/thirsty. Big thank you again to the Palym. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

We were given the accessible room (not our request) which meant for spacious room and very spacious bathroom; it was next to the breakfast room, so it also probably would be noisy after 7:00. We had an early train out so didn't find out. The location near Gare de Lyon train station was perfect! Only a few steps off the main street; the air conditioned room meant we could keep our window closed. New decor made everything look really clean. Easy ground floor access.

The hotel is very well situated for those who come to Paris by train. There's is also a metro station next to it. Although it's nearby a busy street rooms are quiet and you don't hear the traffic. The staff is welcoming. There are a few cafés /restaurants just in front of the train station (Gare de Lyon)where you can enjoy a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner. In a parallel street there's a little super market if you need to buy anything. The hotel itself is maybe not attractive for those who want to spend a romantic weekend in a beautiful surrounding but if you come to visit Paris and you look for a decent place to sleep I would recommend it without hesitation. I think the quality for the price is good.

Very nice and helpful staff. The walls seemed rather thin, but noise was from other guests, not from the outside. It is too far from the city center to walk to most sites easily, but it is across the street from a train station and subway station, and very close to another train station/subway station. Local restaurants were good. We had trouble with the wi-fi kicking us off often, and the tub wasn't entirely clean at check in. No one could do anything about it until the next day.

We had a real good stay at Palym Hotel. We had a little problem with french neighbours the second night, because they were really noisy. It was my fault not to call the reception immediately as I was suggested the day after. The other only thin is about breakfast that is a little too expensive for adults but really too much for kids e there is not a distinction of price. Just across the road you can have breakfast for 5.70€ (8,00 in hotel)

I stayed in a double size room, spacious enough but not roomy, clean, but noisy at night since it is so close to the train station and the Boulevard, but the good side to it, is that it takes no time to get to the train station with the luggqge, and also the Air France Shuttle stop from CDG airport is only two minutes away. The only one thing I would like to see an improvement is in the quality of the Breakfast.

We booked this hotel becasue it is very close to Gare de Lyon where we need to take the train to Avignon. As it turned out, the hotel is fairly nice by 2 stars standard. Only criticism was that the receptionist did not allow us check in even we are only 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled check-in time. However, she was polite. Also this hotel has very spacious luggage rooms seperately for arriving and departing guests and this is a plus.

Location is excellent, 5 mins from the Gare de Lyon, metro and bus stop for airport shuttle. Room abit small for a triple because of space taken up by add-on bathroom(looks like a small hut in the corner of room). The room had an airconditioner and it was certainly an invaluable feature. The neighbourhood was bustling with activities from nearby brasseries, patisseries, restaurants, pharmacy and supermarket. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

This is a real gem of a hotel - completely updated, and clean and modern. Great location just steps from Gare de Lyon, and near lots of bistros and brasseries. Beds were great, and breakfast was excellent value with good selection/quality for a Continental breakfast (buffet format). Elevator is nice to have. Bathroom very modern and clean. Our view was awful (ie. non-existant) but that wasn't a problem as we were out except to sleep. Nice lounge area to relax with a glass of wine at night. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is located two minutes walk from the Gare De Lyon with good connections to both the Metro and RER systems with lots of places to eat close by. All Paris hotels have small rooms for the price and are relatively expensive. The hotel Palym was no different however from the time that we arrived we were happy with the service that we received all of the staff that we came into contact with were friendly and accomodating when dealing with our requests and were multi lingual. The room was quiet (we had requested this!) although a little cell like as it faced onto a inner chimney like courtyard, other rooms were brighter but faced onto the street. Bedding was changed every two days and the room was clean. Breakfast was typically French with the usual limited choice but it was self-service so you could eat what you wanted, there was no need to leave hungry!! Breakfast was priced at 7.50 Euro's (Sept 2010) it was in line with atlernaties close by. We would definatly recommend the hotel as a place to stay for a short break were you require a reasonable place to sleep while visiting the sites of Paris!!

Location is very close to Gare de Lyon, and there are several restaurants and cafes nearby that make this a great location. Would not recommend for light sleepers, as there is noise throughout the night from the street.

This hotel was 1/2 a block from Gare De Lyon and it was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if/when I go back to Paris. The room was small, but I expected that and only used the room to sleep in.

A really good hotel, i don't want to under estimate it because of a very stange reaction when i asked to change my room they told me i hv to evacuate my room at 12 and put my luggage in the luggage room and then check in the new room at 2:00 !!!!!!!, this is a critical mistake that could ever happen to anybody, but i received a nice appology from the manager, except this, everything is fine the location, the room, and the surroundings, may stay there again.

I stayed at the Palym for one night with my daughter, cause we had to take a train the next day from Gare de Lyon. The staff was very friendly, the room clean and quiet, because it was going to the backside of the building. We weren't lucky with the light situation, it was very dark. It wasn't spacious as well, but I guess this is a general problem in Parisian hotels that price category. It has a nice location, you are in the middle of everything, the Metro isn't far and the street is a side street, so it isn't very loud. Breakfast was ok.

The location of the Palym is convenient and our room was quite spacious and clean. We arrived late a night and the reception staff was welcoming and helpful. We would come back if taking another weekend break in Paris as we had no complaints about our stay nor the price.

Palym more than satisfied our simple needs -- a clean, quiet, and inexpensive hotel near the Gare de Lyon. We would stay there again.

I had a really nice stay in this hotel, and would totally stay there again!! The room&bathroom was clean, not small and I heard overall very few noise. The hotel location is perfect, near the metro station and surrounded by cafés and little rastaurants for breakfast and dinner. Everyone from the staff was very kind and helpful! Price/quality is excellent, i recommend this hotel!

The hotel is situated in the area of the Gare de Lyon: there is a direct bus connection between the Gare and airport Charles de Gaulle, there are some brasseries and small shops around as well as the metro station. it is not directly in the center of Paris, but not far by walk (approx. 25 min. to the Iles de la Seine, 40 min to the Louvre) and with metro line 1 its easy to reach the center. The hotel itself was nice, the stuff friendly. The room was small, but clean and absolutely quiet. The only thing which some might not like is: TV has only french programms. But for me it was defenitely ok, i would absolutely book this hotel again.

Lovely small hotel situated in a quiet side street just a stones throw from Gare de Lyon. Very friendly, helpful staff. We needed somewhere to stay overnight near to the station as we had an early train to catch to Geneva, this fitted the bill perfectly. The rooms are (at least our room was) quite small but were clean and well equipped. Typical continental "eat-as-much-as-you-like" breakfast buffet (€7.50 - not included). Would recommend and use again.

The hotel was generally as reviewed by others, with our room larger than we normally see in Paris in this price range. The staff was very friendly and helpful, as well as multi-lingual. Very good location for access to the metro and trains. One definite problem on this trip--the lift was broken during our entire stay. Staff, however, offered to carry up our bags to the 2nd floor upon arrival. Our room was on the street side, and with the window open there was definitely more street noise than we would have liked well into the night.

They were very uptight about us borrowing their bar's wine glasses to take to our room... seemed odd for a country that specializes in wine. We've never encountered that problem anywhere else. Otherwise, it was a great place! Amazing location!
