The hotel was centrally placed in an apparantly nice area. A large selection of cafes around. Easily accessable atractions to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Lourve.... via underground metro or walking distance (approx 20mins). It was noisy outside all night, but this could not be heard as there was good window sound proofing. Nice friendly reception staff, recently painted, clean, T.V. free use of internet in reception. Our party was teenagers, small kids & their parents. All were happy. The only added extra that would have been nice was a tea/coffee making facility in the room. We did not have breakfast included. We would book this hotel again at the right price.

4-bed room with 24h reception as close as possible to Gare Montparnasse was all I wanted. Comfort and calm in the middle of a pleasantly lively restaurant/theater neighborhood was a very welcome addition.

Extremely convenient location. This was my second stay at this hotel. It is a pity that there is no refrigerator and the window did not close properly.(I was surprized that the closed window flew open by a strong wind.)Bathroom area seems to be renoveted recently. I like the clean and spacious bathtub.

A step back in history. Tiny lobby, elevator for a max of 2, beautiful but worn carpet on classy circular stairway, large & clean restroom/toilet, cute and attractive if cozy room. Quite stylish in its own way. Terrific neighborhood in the heart of Montparnasse.

Great location for metro and nightlife !!!! Hotel is in old building only partly renovated. Most urgently needed is insulation from street backgroud noise (at least in the room I had). All in all good value for money.

The location was perfect,10m from a subway station, a lot of restorants and cafe nearby. The staff was welcoming and friendly .We will definitely return next time.

Hotel Odessa was good value for money. The room was a reasonable size with a big bathroom and the beds were very clean and comfortable. the hotal was slightly tired but expected for the price paid for the room which was very resonable. The hotel is well situated within easy reach of plenty of places to eat and drink.

I recommend this hotel if you want to stay cheap and comfortable in 2 bed room. I stayed 1bed room one night, and went to country side for a meditation retreat for 2weeks, and came back and stayed 4 nights this hotel again. They kept my suitcase for 2weeks. Very kind. 2 bed room is clean and big enough, and it have bath tub.But no shampoo and toothbrush. Metro, supermarket and many cafe nearby.Just in front of this hotel. Very nice to stay.

It is near the exist of Metro of line 4 and 6. Staff are nice too. However, suggest to provide drinking water and boiling pot.

We have stayed 7 nights (1 DBL) at Odessa. the location is great if you want to be a part of Paris. There is 2 metro stations in 2 min. walkind distance which both have a very good direction to travel around the city. Hotel was clean (just there is was very noisy housekeepers whom waken you up early in the morning) and people in the reservation was really very friendly and helpfull during our stay. I am very happy that I do not need to search for an alternative to Odessa during my Paris stayes after all :)

Very good price/quality. We stayed in Paris for three days: two adults and two teens and we booked a room for four. They did some renovation (carpeting) and I think the hotel will be even better. Large and new washroom! Lot of places around to eat. Two Metro stations close by: Montparnasse Bienvenue and Eduard Quinet. Thank you Odessa, thank you Venere.com

Traditional Parisian hotel with an excellent location and metro connections - two stations including Montparnasse within about 100m. Location is buzzing with cafes and a fantastic boulangerie outside. Hotel facilities outside of rooms are limited but this was not a problem for us. As you would expect, rooms are not big but are clean and well maintained. It is an old hotel which gives it a certain charm but may not be to everyone's taste. Room service breakfast very fresh and decent value. Would definitely recommend for a short stay. Parking is a bit of a challenge - I parked in the underground car park at Montparnasse after dropping off outside; not extortionate over a few days and secure. Limited street parking but expensive and lots of wardens!

I enjoyed my stay at that hotel. Although its location is ideal, it is rather noisy in the evening. The room is not very big but for one person, it was sufficient. It would have been nice to have some air conditioning or at least a fan. Hotel staff was competent and courteous however not overly friendly. Overall I would recommend this hotel if one is on a budget, if you like an animated area (also very convenient because it's only 5 min to walk to Montparnasse train station/subway.

Hotel Odessa was better than expected. The staff could all speak at least some english and always tried to be helpful. The lift is small but could carry all our luggage and person. The quad room we had was of a reasonable size but it would have been nice to have had 2 single beds and 1 queen rather than 2 queen beds so our boys could have their own bed. The bathroom was big and had a large tub but no shower curtain so some water would get on floor. Some of the bath tile had dirty grout that may have mold. Other than that everything was fine. The room has LCD TV a couple desks and tall armoir type closet. A small fridge and kettle would be nice but not here this time. We would go here again. 2 subway stops are close. Edgar Quintet is closer and I would recommended using it when possible - paris metro system is great. Pomme de Pain sandwich and ice cream shop is close to mont paranasie metro stop and offers good valve and service esp. the manger who speaks good english and was very friendly!

We stayed for three nights (Monday to Thursday) in the hotel and were very happy with all aspects of our stay. The room was at the front of the hotel on the second floor. Although we were not there for the weekend, the area was lively with bars on three of the corners facing the hotel. Noise was not a problem at any time as simply shutting the windows instantly soundproofed the room. We had a small balcony and a great view. The hotel is in a fantastic situation, there is a metro stop (Edgar Quinet)opposite the hotel which is on the same line as the Eiffel tower. Gare Montparnesse is about a seven or eight minute walk from the hotel. We flew into CDG and got the AirFrance shuttle bus to Gare Montparnesse, which took us an hour but only took about 40 minutes returning to the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short city break stay on a budget.

This hotel was a disappointment compared to the other places I have stayed in Europe: the hotel is older and the rooms are small, breakfast is very expensive for what you are getting, and you have to give your key back whenever you leave the hotel (???). However, it is in a great location if you are using the Metro: extremely close to the "Montparnasse Bienvenue" stop which has several metro lines that run through it.

Overall, the stay was very nice...the room was large and the bathroom was xlarge! It was very nice. It could have been a little cleaner but it sufficed. The only complain we had was the day of check out the cleaning woman wanted us out of the room at 11 and check out was not til 12. I would recommend this hotel. As a single mom with three teens, we didn't really spend a lot of time in it, but it was sufficient for sleeping and bathing.

Locationally, this hotel is excellent but it unfortunately has very little else to recommend it. My biggest complaint would be cleanliness: the room had an all pervading smell of smoke and there was dirt in the carpet that could be lifted with my foot. There was even some rubbish lying around that did not belong to us and hairs in the bath which we know were not ours because despite being promised a 'double room with bath' we were unable to use it as the hotel did not provide a plug. Blood stains on the blanket and wallpaper peeling off the walls only added to our unhappiness with the experience. Although the location is great and the rooms spacious, there must be better ways to stay in Paris.

First off the Edgar Quinet metro station is closer to the hotel (30sec walk) than the Gare Montparnasse station (5min walk). Coming from the Montparnasse station it's all uphill once you turn onto Rue D'Odessa. The Edgar Quinet station is at the multiple street intersection in front of the hotel. The hotel has a small lobby but clean that you enter off Rue d'Odessa to the side of the cafe that is at the front of the hotel. The hotel concierge(s) was very helpful on all things related to sight-seeing and ordering a taxi if needed. The elevator(lift) is extremely small and will only hold 1 person at a time if you have a lot of luggage! Like all buildings in paris the hotel is old but clean and safe. The room (we booked a room with two queen beds as we traveled with two kids) was clean but low on space to get around if you have a lot of luggage. The bathroom was private (off the room) and was recently remodeled and clean. The hotel has no air-conditioning or ceiling fans. The window to the street is double-glazed and will block out all street noise when closed. Once you open the window you'll hear the traffic and the hustle and bustle from all the cafes (quite a few) below. There is an excellent pizza restaurant just down the street (heading towards Rue du Rennes). Also there is an excellent bakery. Have breakfast here! Overall a compact hotel in a great area. Great restaurants (not too expensive), cafes, bakeries, pharmacies near by. You feel like you are in true Paris as you will meet a lot of the locals. Good location if you want to explore the Luxembourg Gardens (15min walk). It's a quiet hotel at night (with window closed) so there'll be no trouble sleeping. Beer nearby is expensive (6euros/pint - June 2007) so drink wine - it's cheaper by the bottle! Or sit out at one of the many cafes, have a coffee and soak up the atmosphere!

Ascensore piccolo e rumoroso. Due stazioni Metro molto vicine. Ottimo panificio a pochi passi.

Hi! We stayed in August 2005 for 5 nights for very good price (under 20Euro/person/night). It is basic but clean and good located hotel. Wed had a room no 50 with 2 double beds (real double beds) on 5th floor. Room was simple, but enough space, clean bathroom and everything worked including TV and lift. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed every day. Receptionists speak English and are nice. So it is basic accommodation but it doesn’t disappoint if you don’t want to spend money on sleeping in a hotel. Our room had a balcony mentioned in other reviews which is small but most important higher floor is recommended because hotels is over busy restaurant/bar “Odessa” (during weekend mainly). That it can be also a good thing because whole area is ‘living’ and you have choice of restaurants and bars to sit outside in the evening. Some “minuses”: 1. There was no ‘private safe’ in the room mentioned on internet web page. 2.Hotel doesn’t have a breakfast room (it is said that breakfast can be served in room on request) but it is nice to sit outside for a coffee and croissant or sandwich (waiters speaks English). 3. Internet is located in a tiny space in front of reception desk where you have to stand while using it (but there is Internet cafe at the same street if you prefer). There is good connection to airports (airport shuttles to Montparnesse) and metro station just in a corner (Edgar Quinet, green line no 6); 5 min. to tour Montparnasse and metro station Montparnasse Bienvenue (there are more metro lines which makes location convenient for sightseeing). But if you can, I would avoid station Montparnasse because there is a long way underground and we did find out how to get quickly on the ground and had to walk a long distance underground (I think it is possible, we just did not bother to ask locals about short way out). There is a good store INNO with a excellent selection of food and wine (cheap option is ED with very basic food) and also shopping mall Gallery Lafay

It is indeed very conveniently located, but bring your earplugs if you think of going to sleep early. Rooms aren't too spacious but at least my bathroom was - and it was clean and recently refubrished, unlike the room, which was rather run down and not too appealing. But I got a room on the 5 floor, with a nice balcony. And indeed it's better to have a nice bathroom and an ugly room rather than the other way round. The reasons for choosing it were price and location, and both satisfied me. If you look for the same, choose Odessa. If you look for comfort, try someting else.

The Room was exactly as expected from the description given and Type of Rooms available. It was very clear as to the location of the Hotel site, and the Staff were REALLY helpful and friendly in every enquiry that was requested.

The hotel location was excellent. Very close to both Edgar Quinet (line 6) and Montparnasse-Bienvienue (lines 4, 6, 12, 13) Metro stops. We had a family room with 2 double beds. Although it was not air conditioned, it wasn't too hot the first three days. And there was good flow-through ventilation when both the bathroom window and balcony doors were open. The balcony (5th floor rooms only) was very nice. It over-looks Rue d'Odessa which is only moderately busy and one block long. It was a bit noisy on the weekend being over two cafes. Also we were there for Bastille Day, so there was some exhuberant celebration that night too. That's part of the big city experience though. Internet is available in the lobby. The hotel clerks all tried to be helpful. Some speak very good English, if needed. Breakfast is available in your room for an additional fee, but we bought groceries at nearby markets (there is even a large grocery about a block away) for considerably less. The hotel is a very good value (you can't complain about paying 100 Euros per night for 4 people in Paris).

A good hotel that offered a good sized family room which is hard to find in Paris. No breakfast offered but there are plenty of places close by. Also convenient for Montparnasse Gare.
