I didn't like the room, very very old. The shower didn't work. It was difficult to close the door, a lock problem I guess. There wasn't any plastic cups in the bathroom! However, only its location can be attractive. If they demand so much money, they should provide high quality.

The room was very poor and not comfortable because room and facility are both deteriorated. For example the doors of lavatory, cloak and trunk room cannot be closed and destroyed. The room rate 160 was too much expensive. I do not want stay there again. Attention to VENERE, please check in advance what type of room is offered at this price.

At first I wasn't sure to stay in this hotel because of the feedbacks I read, but I took the risk and I don't regret. The service is excellent, the room is also good (very good) for a city like Paris, where space is something that rarely you have. The personel always was competent and very kindful. The location is great and near to metro, bus, night-bus and also bicycle stations; everything is near. Definetly I will return to this hotel.

Suggested 100%! To be honest, I don't know how the standard double room are because I've upgraded to a superior double room without any overcharge. The quality/price ratio was excellent for I made a reservation 3 months in advance. The full price of the superior double room is out of my possibility...

Very convenient access to the Metro at the Louvre or Tuileries. My room was extremely big, but not sure if that corresponds to all others. Staff was excellent and very accomodating, letting me check my bag for the weekend while I went out of town on a sight-seeing trip. I ate breakfast one day and thought it was a little above average. The only negative: the air conditioner was a stand-alone unit in the room with an exhaust hose that had to be stuck out the window (blew very hot air from the exhaust) and the unit was extremely noisy.

Très bien situé à deux pas du Louvre. Mais cela ne justifie pas le prix excessif. Chambre et salle de bain vétuste.

We have up-graded to suite room #602, wonderful spacious and quietness due to top floor. Room was located a bit far from elevator, if had big lugages it will be small problem. But we are very sure of coming back this hotel in this season.

We enjoyed our stay at the Normandy Hotel. Location was great. Room was clean. One evening a staff member came to our door to make sure that the room was to our satisfaction, regarding the upkeep and housekeeping. Concierge staff were very helpful with any questions we had.

The location is the best feature of this hotel. It is close to many bistros, cafes, and the Louvre. The rooms certainly did not reflect what was pictured on the website. The beds were so low, they were almost on the floor. Note that the rooms do not have air conditioning. This is true of most of the older hotels in Paris. The concierge was extremely rude and unwilling to help. I asked him to secure a cab and he told me to stand outside (with my luggage in the rain!) to get one. I asked him again to call for a cab and he was very annoyed and just plain mean. One other complaint, the hotel did not have wash cloths. The hotel also advertised that it had internet access in the lobby. Not true. When I asked the concierge where to find an internet cafe, he sent me and my senior citizen mother on a wild goose chase. We never did find it. Surprisingly, a frenchmen on the street helped us find one just one block from the hotel. Now why wasn't the concierge aware of this internet cafe...that is part of his job.

I would never stay in this hotel again. The staff was incompetant to the point of insanity. Wasn't told that I had a complimentary breakfast. Room was dirty. Maids didn't obey the "Do Not Disturb" sign. The maids cackled like hens even after I complained to the staff. Asked for a Cab to be called the night before that took credit cards and got one that only took cash. Tried to get a pack of smokes from the bar on my room tab and was told that because they had closed the books I'd have to pay cash. Maybe it is Europe in general... but the staff at the hotel needs to come to the United States to be trained in Customer Service. I will never stay at this hotel again. Noisey, incompetant, dirty and way to expensive for the service provided. I wish there was a Motel 6 in Paris as I'd rather stay there than the Hotel Normandy.

The welcome at reception was efficient but not particularly friendly. On the first night I asked for an interim bill and was given one. However, when I checked out on the last night and asked for a detailed invoice for tax purposes, I was refused one and told I would have to ask the internet booking service for one. When I hailed a taxi outside the hotel to go to the airport the driver was accosted by the concierge who rushed him inside for a conversation before I was allowed in the taxi. When the driver returned and I got in the taxi a charge of 10 Euro had mysteriously appeared on the meter. I refused to pay and because I had a flight to catch, eventually had to agree to a concierge commission charge (I assume a result of the conversation with the concierge) of 5 Euro. I would not stay at this hotel again.

The Normandy is minutes away from the Louvre and the Metro - this is the reason why I chose this property. Check-in and check-out were relatively fast, once it was my turn. The person at the reception desk asked if I needed help with my luggage, to which I responded no because I wanted to be on my way. However, I would have expected such service automatically from a 4-star hotel, particularly since I had 2 large pieces of luggage. Upon reaching my room, I discovered the key did not work. I had to leave my large luggage outside my room to go back downstairs to see about the problem. Fortunately, it was a programming issue and was resolved quickly. The room was small, although not excessively by Paris standards, and sparingly decorated; but it was clean and neat. The windows opened to the courtyard, so there was not much of a view. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious. The hotel had 2 elevators but one needed to use stairs to access one's room beyond the elevator (for some). If the staff had informed me, I would have requested help with my luggage. The hallways were lit with red and green lights, which seemed strange. There is one computer with internet access outside the breakfast room available for a fee. The housekeeping staff was very nice. The reception staff were a mixed bag; some were more helpful and friendlier than others. When the taxi arrived on the morning of my departure, I was left to carry my bags out on my own. I would return to the Normandy because of its excellent location. However, the next time I am in the 1er Arr., I would likely try another hotel.

Un accueil pas aimable. Un service durant le petit déjeuner peu satisfaisant. Des chambres bruyantes et le service de chambre qui vient réveiller le matin à 9h.

I'm shocked that the Normandy was rated 4*. OUr family of 4 stayed in 4* hotels throughout our 3 week European vacation and the Normandy was a far cry from being a 4*. Filthy carpets in the halls, stained furniture, serious dry rot around the windows, and blankets that were well worn. And when we first arrived, nobody bothered to help us with the heavy elevator door as we struggled with our luggage into the tiny space. I would never recommend this hotel.

Hallo! Well - I have one thing to complain. The temperature in the room during nights were to high. That in spite of rather low outside temperature, closed valve on the room`s heating radiator and limited setting on the available termostat in the room. With best regards. Odd I. Thorjussen

I must say that thier quality was poor. Two things. 1.Although I brough the confirmation document, the hotel insisted that I canceled the 1st night of booked 2 nights without any evedence that I canceled (of course they cannot!). I had to move to another hotel for the 1st night. I was extremely annoyed! 2.Concierge forgot to book the restaurant which I requested. He told a lie that he booked and I found the booking was not made after I reached the restaurant. I claimed to him but he tryed to leave the fault to the restaurant. I think such behaviour extremely damages the credibility of the hotel.

The staff were v. professional and helpful - the service was v. good. The location was great. The only issue I had was that the A/C in the rooms were not v. good. I was in 2 different rooms and my colleague was in 2 different rooms - none had A/Cs that worked v. well. So, the first few nights I was there, it was atypically warm (95 degrees), so the rooms were tough without real A/Cs. They did provide fans upon request.
