Great welcoming! Room was small but OK. The room was clean, but smelled like cigarettes which was disgusting. The hotel is a few minutes from the Gard du Nord, so that is really good. Breakfast was good, but was little for the price we payed. In total: we had a good stay, people where nice, but we payed too much for the quality we got.

The location was excellent when coming from Gare du Nord. Rooms are a little tight, but it is good if you look for a place to spend a few nights and refresh from walking all day in the city. They have wi-fi in the rooms which is a very big plus. It is an old building so sometimes you hear everything.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the Gare du Nord. Very practical! A bit noisy, but the room was clean and the personnel very friendly. This hotel has a very nice entrance and reception. Once you go up stairs, it could use remodeling and the rooms updated, but we were not there to observe the look. We needed a clean place to stay and that was it. It was exactly what we expected for a hotel of that rank.

The hotel is close to the Gare du Nord and a metro station which gets you quicly to the center of town. The personel is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean. In adition there is a cheap internet place in the neighbourhood and a couple of restaurants. Considering price/quality, I have no hesitation to recommend the hotel.

The hotel was modest as expected. The only serious drawback was the noise. Noise from other guests in the stairwell returning late could be heard clearly from our room. The hotel management should ask all the guests to keep the noise levels down at night.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel to celebrate his birthday at the beginning of October 2008 for 4 nights in total. It's not a 5* luxury hotel - but we knew that after reading the reviews on the website anyway and thought we would rather sleep somewhere cheaper and have more money to spend on actually doing things in Paris. The hotel is in a brilliant position - smack bang in the middle of Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est - literally 5 mins walk to either. It is just off quite a busy road, but you can't hear any traffic from the hotel. It is quite small and tucked back slightly, with a spiral staircase. There are a few supermarkets and bars and restaurants on the doorstep which was handy. When we first got in to the room we were a bit shocked at the carpeted walls, which seemed slightly dusty, and 70's, and the decor is a bit dated, but we both agreed that we actually got quite attached to it after a while! The most important thing is it was clean, and kept clean daily. We didn't sample the breakfast as we didn't want to rush getting ready, but we didn't get any cleaners banging on the door telling us to get out of the room or anything which was good - the hotel had a relaxed atmosphere. The room was a standard size, just enough room for a (slightly drooping) double bed, wardrobe, couple of small tables, and floor space to put two suitcases etc, oh and a TV! Brilliant for what we needed it for, not the most luxurious, but sometimes it's good to have a bit of character instead of bog standard white washed walls. Not a bad word to say about it. Would go again.

I did not eat breakfast at the hotel so I cannot comment on that aspect of the stay. All other services were as described on-line and I was very satisfied especially as I had a room at the back which was quieter than the front. Internal sound-proofing very poor.

It was clean but the room was crowded with two beds in it. One tap was missing in the shower area and I had to move the one tap on the hot mater one to the cold water and vice versa. The night clerk was polite but not very friendly; the morning one was more helpful and friendly. There was a lot of noise from water running in the adjacent rooms. I think this is a suitable hotel for moving around Paris and travelling on to another destination because it is close to the Gare du Nord. The people I saw seemed quite OK..

Reasonable budget hotel, closes to Gare Du Nord, markets, restaurants and grocery stores. The room is a bit shabby but reasonable as a budget hotel. The staffs are very friendly and nice. We took a family trip and found that it was very nice that it is a family-run hotel.

This was the first hotel we stayed at of a toal of 4 on our honeymoon. We arrived here tired and travel weary but it was easy to find and within about a 5 minute walk (with our giant backpacks!) of Gare du Nord train station and metro stop. There were many restaurants and bakeries in the area as well as a couple of currency exchange places (watch the commission fees!) and a La Poste office. The front desk staff were friendly and spoke english. The breakfast was yummy but we didn't realize that it was not included in the price (our mistake) and for 5 euros each, we could have eaten the same thing for much less at a bakery of some sort down the street. The room was clean and although it was a bit shabby in the decorations, it was cozy. The bathroom again, while not terribly well decorated was clean and bright. We wanted something inexpensive and convenient where we could sleep and leave our stuff while touring around and this hotel provided that.

I cannot recommend Nord Est. We were a family of 4. The hotel is not in a good area of Paris (near Gare Nord), and was very difficult to find. The is no air conditioning and the beds were very small and uncomfortable. The staff spoke English, but were not particularly accommodating. The breakfast was free, but of very low quality (coffee, juice, breads). The room was very small and not well kept. Do not stay here, unless you have very low expectations.

Wonderful staff and a great location right between Gare du Nord and Gare l'Est. Rooms small for 4 and shower didn't work. No lift. Expensive for what you get but this is Paris. Good breakfast for the 5 Euros. Good place to crash if Paris itself is what you're after (which is why we were there). Staff the best of any of the hotels we stayed in while in Europe--very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again just because of the staff.

A very good quality, small hotel for those on a budget. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and the only thing that I could wish for as extra is a lift - 3 flights of stairs is a long way when your suitcase is heavy! Overall though a good experience. We will go again.

IT IS A STANTARD HOTEL WHICH CORRESPONDS TO THE PRICE YOU ARE PAYING. TWO MINUS OPOINTS: 1-THERE IS NO LIFT; AND IT IS REALLY VERY BAD SPECIALLY IF YOU ARE STAYING ON THE SECOND FLOOR AND YOU HAVE TO CARRY YOUR SUITCASE FROM THE STAIRS. 2-THE HOTEL DID NOT ACCEPT AMERICAN EXPRESS; THIS WAS NOT MENTIONED DURING BOOKING.

It does fit into the 2 star catagory. It is quite convenient. The major problem is quite noisy as we could hear the phone ringing at the reception, and people walking up stairs. Also, they should ban smoking at the recption area as we could smell smoke in our room

We were very pleased with the standard of the hotel and its access to the main areas in Paris. We would certainly recommend this accomodation to anyone visiting this city. Also, the fact that it was within five minutes walking distance from the main railway station certainly was one of its many plus points.

I enjoyed my stay at Norde Est. It was a small hotel located just away from the main traffic area and very near to Gare du Nord and Gare du l'Est, which was very convenient. The room was small, but clean and comfortable (we had a twin room) - and the pictures were acurate. The bathroom towels were replaced daily and the beds made. The only minor complaint I'd have was the noise level. It is a side street, but a lot of mopeds/cars/people use it and it was pretty noisy at all hours. For the price, this hotel was excellent - the staff were welcoming and accomodating. I'd stay here again!

The room was as advertised. There was no lift in the hotel though. This made carrying the luggage to the second floor more difficult. Plus it was a roasting hot weekend that we stayed and the walls had a kind of furry carpeted wallpaper which may have made it hotter. The location was what we were looking for, though hardly any taxi's have heard of 'Rue de Petit Hotels'. So future customers may ask taxis to head for the Marche near to Gare Du Nord first. The price and quality was fine fdor the amount charged.
