Hotel Montparnasse Alesia - Paris

Terrible relationship between price and quality, a lot of noise surronding, room without AC, the smallest room posible, without space even to walk, so little bathroom.

One very bad point: no free WiFi. In 2011, it's a bit like asking you to pay for running water... There is access to the Internet through WiFi, but it is very expensive (18 US$ per hour). That will be the single reason for me not to use this hotel again.

The location is 5-6 blocks from the metro station. The room and bathroom were very small. The street can be noisy. I desperately needed a computer to confirm my flight home but neither the day clerk nor the night clerk could direct me to an internet cafe.

This offers clean, basic accommodation. The room was a little shabby, but well kept, the bathroom shower curtain needed a little management,but the bathroom was spotless and quite spacious -overall it was very comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly - even found an adaptor plug for me when I had forgotten to bring my own! Breakfast was just OK - better pay a little more and go to one of the nearby cafes. Location was good - I was at a conference at a nearby hotel, which is why I chose it. It is a little far out for someone who just wants to visit the city for a few days, but it is just a few minutes to the metro station and buses to city centre - it is possible to walk to the city centre (all the way down the Boul Mich) if you have a lot of time, and maby relax on the way in the Luxembourg Gardens! One very important point re location - if you search for the hotel on the map, do not use the address as a locator! It is 147 Rue Alesia, but it is not beside 148 - it is nearer the Metro on the far side of the road. I don't know why this should be so, but it caused a lot of frustration trying to find it! Overall, I would recommend this hotel for someone who wanted good value basic accommodation in an expensive city.

Staff very unwelcoming, asked for a twin room and put us in a double. They did not speak english and could not understand what we were trying to say. The prices we paid for the room was way to much for the quality of the room.

Wir waren für 3 Nächte im Hotel. Wir hatten ein kleines Zimmer im 4. Stock, Blick Richtung Tour Montparnasse. Das Hotelgebäude ist sehr nett. Bei offenem Fenster ist es in der Früh sehr laut. Das Fenster ist jedoch sehr gut isoliert. Die Lage im 14. Arr. ist zwar nicht ganz im Zentrum, aber zwei Metrostationen sind schnell zu erreichen. Es gibt nette Cafes und Restaurants in der Nähe. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis (unser Zimmerpreis war 60 Euro) war ausgezeichnet.

I stayed for 3 nights in July 2009. Check in was quick. The elevator is very, very small. Just 2 people or 1 person with a suitcase could fit in it. I had a single room, room 79 on the 7th(top) floor. It was very small, but I loved it. The bathroom was fully renovated, with a new sink unit etc. Towels were abundent and clean. There was just a tiny stool in the room and a small TV. There was a closet to hang clothes, but no space to lay clothes down. What I liked most about the room was the window/view. The room faced south, so was sunny all day. There were no other buildings blocking the view, so I could see all over the south of Paris. Because it was warm I decided to sleep with the windows opened all the way every night. It was perfect. There's breakfast in the hotel for 6 euros a day. I never used that facility, but they did add 18 euros to my bill when I checked out. I got them to take it off, but be careful of that. One day I left my room in the morning and left the "do not disturb" tag on the door, so the maid wouldn't go into my room. But when I came home that night the maid did go in. That was weird. Luckily I wasn't missing any of the valuable things I left out. I highly recommend this hotel if you are alone or with your lover. It's quiet, clean, great location and kind. Though double room specified and booked, we got a romm with 3 beds but they kindly offered breakfast. I would recommend the place .

Polite staff, not too much interaction between us. Room was nice, minor problems with lid of WC not staying upright, lack of soap dish and towel hangers in the otherwise nice, clean bathroom.

The rooms are very decent, spacious and clean for the price (around 55 euros a night). Location is fine. Not very central but a short walk/bus ride to the heart of the rive gauche. Room was quiet, I was in rm 39 at the back. The staff were friendly enough. The only thing I can complain about is the exorbitant cost of wifi access -- if wifi was free, the hotel would be close to perfect at that price. There is free wifi 500 metres away at McDonalds though.

The hotel charged 140 € in advance, but insisted on charging the full price. the credit card organisation had to interfere. We´ll never go there again!!!

One thing missing : no water made available (coffe machine but no water/drink/sandwich machine for late arrivals Concerning the location : not that close to the Montparnasse Railway station

The place stinks! It is a dump! The bathroom is moldy, water runs everywhere, toilet leaks and has broken shower. Heat is not enough for winter days. Beds are uncomfortable, the covers are torn! yes torn! The stains on the carpet are unbelievable! the only positive things are: its location and very hot water running in the bathroom...but what's the good of it when you have to put piles of towels in front of the door so that it wont go into the room!!! My opinion DON'T STAY THERE!I paid 260 euros for 4 nights...I am sure I could have found a nicer place with the same amount!

The hotel is located in a very nice area, close to two metro lines and 3 supermarkets. My room was very clean and tidy. The staff are polite but not chatty. The only downside for me was other guests letting their doors slam shut instead of closing them quietly - this was really noisy.

It was my first time in Paris. As a single traveler, the hotel was a little far from the city center, but there are metro stations near and the surroundings are nice. I found the room very small, but as I'm well organized it was ok. The room is closy, and was very hot, I didn't care because it was not hot weather outside. The curtains of the shower can be a problem if you don't put them toward the inside.

I stayed only one night because I missed my flight but The Hotel was good, the little I saw at least. The rooms i thought were a little small, but the service was really good.

The hotel was absolutely fine, nice staff, small rooms but including a bathroom, the price is great for the provided quality. The location is superb, Montparnasse is a very nice and secure part of Paris, the hotel is 7 minutes to the Metro and from there you are everywhere literally in 10 minutes. The big plus is a big and cheap supermarket just 2 minutes away from the hotel working til late, and a Starbucks near the Metro - you won't starve to death in Paris! I'm joking, the restaurants and the food is excellent in Paris, but 10-15 € min. per meal per person sums up to quite a lot within a few days, then a supermarket nearby your hotel is worth so much more.

I stayed at Monparnasse Alesia for 3 nights. The room was cleaned well everyday so there was no problem with cleanness. The biggest problem I had was the shower head. It had some crack (?) and the water was scattering everywhere (shower curtain didn't help much). I had to clean up the soaked floor after taking a shower every night. The breakfast was somewhat better than other same-class hotels. I liked that they had boiled hams, not only breads and yogurt. The location was okay, but requires little of walking from Metro stations. By the way, I felt Plaisance station was closer then Alesia, so hotel may want to indicate that somewhere. If you don't mind 15 mins metro ride to the major tourist attractions, then this hotel should be just fine.

Travellers who don't want to stay at 5 star hotels should stay here. Staff is nice, it is affordable etc

NICE HOTEL WITH CLEAN SMALL ROOM WITH DESK,TV,SHOWER. ONLY THE HEATING WAS NOT VERY GOOD SOME RESTAURANTS IN THE NEIGHBOURING

We stayed 3 nights. The hotel evaluation is average but the price is reasonable too (64 euros for a twin room). We had two problems : a lamp bulb was missing and there was nothing to hang the showerhead to the wall. We had to keep it in the hand all the time. We told about the bulb to the reception desk and the next day it was fixed.

Everything was great except for listening to the snores from a neighboring room... Convenient location, competent staff.

Found the hotel ok. But they had a problem processing my payment. The cleaners were very noisy in the morning, starting to clean at 8.00am, so little chance of not being disturbed. Wifi internet not operational. One guy says it does not work at all. The internet cards they have are out of date, so no joy. I had thought breakfast was included, but it seemsb it was not. This was not clear at booking.

La nuit d'être accueilli par du personnel de nuit entrain de regarder un match le Samedi 10/12 à 22H00 de foot avec ses copains, et qui n'a pas daigné se lever lorsqu'on est arrivé est pour le moins limite si ce n'est très déplaisant. Sinon les chambres sont très bien insonorisé, le quartier très animé.

The only problem in this hotel was the breakfast buffet. At nine o' clock in the morning there was not enough to eat- we missed especially the bread. A bit later someone of the hotel stuff went to buy some other croissants etc. All the rest was o.k. we had a very pleasant stay.

I liked the area the hotel was located. The hotel offers very good service and the breakfast was very good, too. If they offer me the same price, I'll stay there next time, too.
