The smell of chemicals in a room was very strong.

poor service: firstly assigned me to a room next to the reception desk, and told me no more room available. But when found the door of that room broken, give me another room. beds are small and uncomfortable, tiny and noisy room makes you hard to sleep

The one lady at the reception was extremely friendly and helpful. One of her colleagues thought because we are English wouldn't understand his swearing at us.

Upon arrival we were offered a very small room with bathroom not cleaned, so we asked to change the room. Answer was that the hotel is fully booked and no free rooms which turned out to be lie. Then we asked to clen the bathroom. After the receptionist had it cleaned he tried to open the hot water tap, luckily for us it got broken so we received a bigger room. Employees not friendly even if I comapre with same level hotel Villette, where staff is super friendly.

Very expensive in terms of quality/price, even for Paris. Breakfast is 8,50€ and not 6€ as mentioned on the website. Rooms are tiny, beds really uncomfortable, you could hear EVERYTHING that happened next door or in the corridor. My first bad hotel experience in Paris. People are quite friendly though, quite the only positive thing I have to say.

The Meridional was basic, but friendly, efficient, clean, and, above all, quiet.

Great position, very close to important metro and RER stations. Small room, but good enough for us. Employees weren't very confident with english, but we managed. Price was really OK. Overall it was a great experience... oh and for sure my next stay in paris will be in hotel mèridional again.

The hotel is in a quiet street, few minutes from a metro station(5 stops to the city centre)and a hundred meters from the main road full of shops, groceries, bakeries and restaurants. The staff speaks French and English. The receptionists were pleasant and helpful. Even though we were ready for it still we found the room and a bathroom very tiny, but clean and good enough for sleeping and resting in the evenings. One thing we found surprising was that the floors in several rooms we were offered were very uneven so it made us feel dizzy. The staff was helpful and we ended up in an acceptable room for 5 nights. Overall we were happy with this hotel and enjoyed our stay in Paris to the most.

The hotel was not so much clean, and just when you get inside the hall, you can smell something bad. the moquette was really dirty, and the pavement was noisy. It is very near to the metro station, and is well joined to the very centre of Paris. The personnel is not english speaking, so i had to communicate by gestures.

room to the back was very quiet - employees were friendly. very simple hotel, but just right if you don't want to pay for any extras you don't need, if you're underway all day.

I will stay there again without any problems. The people at the front desk were very nice and helpul. Only one of them didn't speak much English but he tried to communicate to the best of his abilities. The sorroundings felt very safe. It is a very commercial area, buses, supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants were about a block away in all directions. I, being a single young woman, would come back to the hotel 9-11:30 pm and felt very safe. The room was small (as advertised) but had everything needed. The bathroom was very tiny but complete as well. Unfortunately the walls are thin and you could hear the voices next door, but it didn't prevent me from sleeping at all. The only complaints I would have are: one of the neighbors smoking in the bathroom and all the smoke would come into my room, I had to have the window wide open until the smoke was gone, several times! Also there was this one day that the carpet had a very strong humidity odor which I think was a result of water spilled during cleaning and they never dried it. In any case, given the price and compared to other options....it is a good place to stay. Very close to the metro too!

I got bug bits all over from the extra blanket, which I had to use because there wasn't one on my bed. They tried to charge us 40 euros for breakfast for 4 days, that we didn't eat. And the guy that checked us out made me uncomfortable, by hitting on me when I was showing him the bug bites.

Nice, clean little hotel; close to Metro(subway), stores & supermarkets; helpful staff.

Make sure you don't get put on the 5th floor, since the windows/skylights dont open. Ours smelled very strongly of cleaning chemicals. We were moved into another room which was much better, but it was not soundproof as advertised. It was clean and reasonably comfortable. Staff was quite helpful. Watch out for their directions, they give two subway stops. They say turn left, but if you come from the other stop, its right!

The map should clearly state location either from Brochant or Fourche station for convenience. Rooms should have better acoustic separation due to very near adjacent rooms. The Meridional Hotel is worth the money especially when you booked ahead of time since the place is very accessible to shops, Paris center etc. It also has nice room and the bathroom is spacious. One employee (woman) does not speak good English and needs to wait for another person to talk to about the services offered.

Excellent value for budget hotel. Helpful staff. Well located for Metro. Small, but adequate room. Quiet street off a main road. Good value Turkish restaurants nearby

A good hotel with a very good relationship price/quality. I stood for five nights. Maintenace is not perfect but generally speaking is very good for the price, and even without considering the price. Metro 3 minutes away. Commercial area (supermarkets or eating) very near. No security problems at all.

The staff was very helpful, location was excellent for getting around Paris. Rooms were a lttle larger than a shoebox, but comfortable. This hotel offers a great range of advantages to a wide variety of clients

Great place to stay. so close to Porte Malliot, if you fly to Beavais. it is only a ten minute walk from the Moulin Rouge and a 20 min walk to the lourve. really clean hotel with friendly staff. rooms were a bit small but perfect if you want a budget place to stay and see paris. rooms were cleaned everyday and it was spotless. staff were very helpful. would stay there again in a heart beat.
Italy, Nov 2007
It was my first stay at Hotel Méridional and I found it a good solution for a short stay: a quiet hotel, well located. The staff was quiet helpful, they allowed my friend and me to deposit our luggage for several hours, both on arrival and departure. The rooms are small but confortable; the bathrooms are really small and a bit oldfashioned, they could need some refurbishment, but everything is clean. Breakfast is not included and a bit expensive, considering what is offered.

Not too bad a vacation... we stayed for 5 days. Walls are paper thin and you can hear people arguing and yelling in the next room, as though they were standing right next to you. Terrible shower, a "Swiss shower" I believe instead of a real overhead hookup, hand held appendage very frustrating to use. Concierges ranged from somewhat helpful to extremely helpful. One wouldn't let us use the internet hookup in the lobby and said it "didn't work" but the others did. They speak some English. We will try Sevigne next time, it's highly recommended by family.

We were in Paris for 9 days. I realise this was during the World Rugby Cup but how the Hotel Meridonal has the nerve to charge 135 euros a night is beyond me. We knew we were going to pay this price (we had no choice because we were booking last minute there were NO other available rooms)But it really made us cross that other people checking in were paying just 85 euro a night during the same time period. They even got breakfast included; we didn't. The staff for the most part were rude and unhelpful... they warmed up a little after we'd been there for a week! Neither the safe nor the phone worked during our entire stay, nor did the lift for most of our stay. The one thing I must say is that the housekeeping was good. I would NOT recommend this property to anyone.

Excellent relationship between price/quality. Rooms are small, but functional if you consider tha you will probably stay there just during the night. The nearest underground station is 3mins walking away. Definitively it's a good solution.

There was actually a problem with our booking and so the comments relate to the Meridional's sister hotel, Eden. The rooms are small and a little noisy but the staff are very helpful and friendly and the room was cleaned each day. However, if you are just looking for a no frills, cheap place to crash during a short stay in Paris then this hotel fits the bill.

Visiting Paris for a long weekend was on the to-do list for ages, when a friend and I decided to just go for it and leave the next weekend. Since we were on a tight budget, the overall impression we got from Hotel Meridional on Hotels.nl was that it would be a standard Parisian hotel, not too expensive, shabby maintenance and low service. Unfortunately, it was the only hotel that offered a twin room on a short notice, so we just decided to book the room and see what we would get (because advertisements and photos hardly ever correspond with reality). It was a pleasant surprise to come in Meridional; the staff spoke correct and sufficient English, and was helpfull when we arrived a couple of hours early by letting us leave the luggage secure, and advising a good restaurant to hav lunch while they were finishing the room. The location was in the inner ring of Paris, close to Montmartre and everything was within range with the metro in only ashort traveling time. I can recommend this hotel to everyone, especially for the offered price/quality relation.

This was first time at hotel, will come back. They changed tovels each day, and there were 5 of them. Bathroom in each room, complete with wc, lavabo, and bath. Hot water all day, air dryer, tv, all working and in perfect order and conditions, confortable, clean, good pillows & beds, we slept well, not far from city centre and mont martre, breakfast can be consumed inside and outside, very competent officers, open 24h/24h, no problems at reserving online and arriving after midnight, they called a taxi for us at 4 in the morning on departure, they spoke English. Excellent from every point of view. For as little as only 10 euros more than the cheapest hotels in Paris, you get a very complete and nice service.

You get what you paid for. I paid 65 euro for a twin room. The walls were so thin, it is like sharing a big loft room with the rest of guests on a same floor. You hear every foot steps, coughing, shower noise ..... I spent all night regretting for trying to save on a hotel in Paris. Don't do what I did. I had 2 night reservation and had to cancel second night. It was nice of them not to charge me any penalty.

Excellent stay. Rooms are small but clean and warm. The hotel is not in the city centre but is located near the metro (Brochant). Several restaurants/brasseries in the surroundings, a very quiet area. Bathrooms are (very) small but also very clean. Probably one of the best hotels in paris if you consider quality/price (paid 50 euro per room per night, double-room, no weekend days). I would return there.

I was travelling with my boyfriend. We staying there 4 days. It was better that we expected because it was very cheap and well located, near from underground (LA FOURCHE)and La Place de Clichy that appears in the official guide of Paris such us the new place of meeting for Parisiens to go to the cinema (a lot of them in the area)and to have dinner (plenty of restaurants and brasseries). We thought that for that price we'll find any "surprise" but no surprise. We were very happy with the situation and the staff in the Méridional. We were looking for a cheap and well located hotel to visit Paris for a few days and the most important thing for us was the cleanliness of rooms and we found it. Thanks to venere and the opinion given by some people I changed the original hotel we were going to book and I am very happy from the discovering of that useful service of venere.
