One-star hotel with high price due to its very good location. I was given a fifth floor by stairs only (the attic)even though I had asked for a lower floor. I thought breakfast was included from what I read in the ad, but when I confirmed it, it appeared that it was 7 euros extra per person per day.

Hotel Louvre Richelieu is a small hotel in the center of Paris. The hotels are fairly expensive in Paris, but this hotel is acceptable in its category. Close to the Opera house (5 minutes walk), close to the Louvre. The staircase is narrow, there is no lift. The room is a little bit noisy in the morning because of the thin walls. There are a few small table nearby the reception desk in a not too airy space for having breakfast for 7 euros per person. It was better to go down to the street and having a fresh breakfast in a bakery or in a small shop for a cheaper price. Our main aspect was the price and the good localisation for tis hotel. This hotel is good for students or young couples without need of luxury.

The hotel is in a GREAT LOCATION, steps away from the LOUVRE, and ON TOP OF THE OLDEST FUNCTIONING BAKERY IN PARIS, 1810... and this is GOOD, is you like to wake up SUPER EARLY and LOVE BREAD SMELLS... BUT If you are a party animal, and need your spleeps... THIS`PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU. The STAFF is GREAT, very french, so be educated and nice, and they will be so. The STAFF is VERY COLLABORATIVE, and worth of my trust from now on: No money charged in advance for CHAMPAGNE -greatly choosen, by the way- and fresh flowers for my wife. I have to make my THANKS PUBLIC to the STAFF; JOEL, Thank You for your trust in word. You made me feel special. Is a small hotel, clean rooms, GREAT IF YOU ARE IN PARIS TO BE OUT THE WHOLE DAY, and come and sleep at the hotel, to wake early and buy FRESH MADE BREAD... and keep going on your visits. Just remember: The hotel administration DOES NOT ALLOW FOR FOOD or BEVERAGE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE ROOMS... which is somehow UNFEAR, specially if like ME you travel with children 9, 14, and 17... I suggest they have to be more flexible in this respect. I tend to respect signs, still, and follow the rules. But also tend to be very clean and pick my own mess... Is shame many travellers and tourist, who are messy and dirty have hurt this hotel...as it seems. On top of a great bakery, there are Supermarkets, 2, just across the street, along a great PIZZA place right besides wich is open until midnight, right infront of the MONUMENT TO MOLIERE, wich became our PIC NIC AREA since food and beverage is not permitted in the premisses of the hotel. Also just steps from the door, a small restaurant with great food and a WINERY wich is simply great: Enjoy!!! The staff is very knoledgable, and HELP ABOVE AND BEYOND, having it all ready for you, tickets for the museums and the Eiffel, so you will not wait in line, lost of maps and information: SYLVAN and JOEL deserve a gold medal for their work. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, AND TO ALL READING T

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location which is about three locks from the Louvre. Apart from that it was a dismal place with quite pronounced sloping floors in our room and a minuscule bathroom. I would NOT stay there again.

Hotel staff were very helpful. Room was small but adequate. It was very hot that week in Paris so we used a fan provided and kept the windows open. We did get street noise from loud motorcycles and trucks even though we were on the 3rd floor. For what we needed in Paris, we did not plan to spend much time in our room, and the price, the hotel worked very well.

Booked this one at the last minute due to all hotels being full and Rugby World Cup in town. Lets face it, u get what you pay for. And we got crap. They overbooked and cancelled our booking when they couldnt get us on the phone (duh .. we were on a plane..no message, no email, no nothing). We stayed the one night, checked out and found other accom. Best thing about hotel is location. But on a noisy street.

A notre arrivée : stupeur.

We reserved the quadruple which was perfect for our needs-which was a clean place to sleep. Who goes to Paris to stay in their room? The price was very reasonable in comparison and the location was superb. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area. I will definitely stay again.

Travelling with 3 more persons, the 4 of us stayed in a quadruple room, with enough space for everybody, relaxed enough, and in a very good location near the Louvre. Quiet street, 2 groceries available, enough low-budget restaurants... good if you want a place to sleep and rest for the next day.

My wife and myself stayed three nights with our teenaged son at Triple bed room (Duble Bed + Single Bed). Location is good as it is close to Louvre, many Japanese restaurants, etc., but we did not like the room even the room size is moderate for the cost. The reason is --- the floor of the room is tilted!! My son measured it by iPod-touch (very convenient i-pod appli) and found that it is tilted by 3.5 degrees. Same tilt is applied to the beds so we were tired when waking up in the morning as if we got on long-haul aircraft.. The hotel staffs are very friendly, but we will not use this hotel again.

For a traveler on a budget, this is a good little hotel just half a mile from the Louvre. For the location, the price is hard to beat. Also, there's a laundromat next door and many Asian restaurants nearby. Be sure to read all the fine print: they charge a deposit; breakfast and wireless are not included.

The hotel and staff were great. We were there for a long weekend Parisian holiday and they provided us with a comfy bed and warm shower to come home to after our long days of sight seeing. The price in comparison to its location was excellent and perfect for my student budget. I would definitely return.

No TV, internet is not free (5 euro per day), no shower cartain, no amenities (soap, shampoo, etc), no dryers. Hotel strictly request the paassenger to keep their policy to clean the room (no food, no drink), but the room is not very clean as an original. Location is very good and the price is cheap. Good for very short stay but not recommend for long stay.

Like the other comments, i should say that it has an excellent location, we could walk everywhere from the hotel;of course it wasn't an exclusive hotel but i recommend especially young people who want to pay less, and who hate loss of time because of distance, it was good to arrive easily to your room after a very tiring Paris day. Some of the employees were a bit non-welcoming, but generally they were good.It was clean enough. (except the bad smell of carpets all over stairs)

Hotel nice and central close to metro and louvre. room quiet to outside noise but walls thin and noisy if guests loud (guessed why there is no TV). bathroom cieling stained from water leakage but overall clean and room was adequate. This is a one star hotel and we stayed here because of locality and had a family room at a reasonable price. The hotel is wonderfully located right in the heart of Paris, very close to the Louvre and all the other tourist attractions. There are lots of restaurants and cafes in the area. The staff are friendly and speak several languages. The rooms are very basic and small - but adequate for those who only spend nights in the hotel like we do. Take it into account that there is no elevator in the building - we had a room on the third floor and climbing the steep stairs after a day in the city was pretty tiresome.

The rooms were very simple, but clean and adequate for a tourist in Paris. I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the hotel room other than for sleeping and bathing, prefering to see paris rather than sit in the hotel room, so for that purpose it was perfect. The hotel is very close to the Louvre and the metro, and is otherwise quite central in Paris. There are definitely better areas in town for eating (more traditional Parisian cuisine), unless you feel like asian-inspired food, of which there is an abundance nearby. The bakery downstairs was great, and there were a few small cafes nearby (a good one on rue Therese) that provided the essential caffeine and pastry to get the day rolling. There was no air-conditioning, but the provided fan and an open window was sufficient (i was there in august). The street noise was a bit loud, so i resorted to ear plugs, which is not a big deal for me. For my purposes, this was great, and i have no trouble recommending it to the traveller on a bit of a budget who wants to spend more time seeing Paris than sitting in a hotel.

This is what it is... a hotel room in downtown Paris for around 100 euros. It was near everything... walking to Louvre & Opera. The room was dirtier then we expected and the bathroom was missing a few tiles. If you are like us and spend little time in the room and just use it as a home base it works for the price... but if you like little soaps, a t.v., hairdryer in your room, etc. then this is not the place for you!

Great receptionist. Very friendly and helpful, all of them. Our room was clean, spacious and quiet. Great location, only about a 10min walk from the Louvre. The Hotel is within a 5-10 minute walk to the Louvre Museum. Excellent location. An easy walk to several metro stops also. The walls of our room were paper thin and we could hear the conversations of the people in the next room at normal volumes which was distracting but not overly bothersome. I didn't like the fact that there was a a bath-tub instead of a shower. The bath had a handheld shower head that leaked so water pressure was horrible unless you held the showerhead just right. Internet access was available in the small lobby for 1 euro per 15 minutes. There are several "locals only" cafes next to the hotel which are very nice. A short 5-10 minute walk down the street brings you to a nice square with 3-4 outdoor cafe's and 2 fountains. The "Le Comédie" cafe was a great spot for people watching, Sandwiches, and good beer.

We arrived early and were able to leave our bags and told we could return and get into our room at 1, so we explored a little and went back to be told that the maid didnt show up and so we wouldnt be able to get into our hotel til 3, which normally wouldnt be a problem but we had spent the whole night on a train and wanted to get washed up. We came back at 3 and were finally allowed in. The floors were gross though especially in the bathroom. The didnt have a/c, only a fan. It is in a good area though (with a Hard Rock Cafe a few blocks away as well as a tasty bakery). The location is excellent being only 500m from the Louvre and is conveniently located for metro, rer and bus both tourist and the govt run transport.

Complimenti a Venere!

The Louvre Richelieu's location is excellent and its facilities are modest, but it is grossly over-priced at 80-something euros per room per night. Paris is scandalously expensive and as a visitor you'll be over-charged because that's what the market will bear, but that doesn't make it acceptable.

The room was tiny and very, very plain. No television or radio or even welcome coffee or tea. The bed mattress was warn and the sheets were less than clean! For the price of Euros 86, one should do much better, even for Paris. The hotel staff was unfriendly and even rude at times. No one offered any assistance with carrying luggage up two flights of stairs as there is no elevator. To add insult to injury, they charge for anything they can. So don't ask for drinking water as they will add 1-2 Euros. And again for breakfast, you pay again at least Euros 6; but it is a very basic meal consisting of bread, butter, coffee and NO eggs. What a cheappppp place! Will not stay there again under any circumstances! You are paying about $100 per night and deserve a lot more fo your money! They just don't care and it is all about money.

The Louvre Richelieu is small, quiet, and worth it. It is easy walking distance from the Louvre museum and the Metro and the staff was wonderful. I felt grungy after so much traveling and the desk clerk helped me obtain an appointment for a haircut and went with me to the salon to translate. He also helped us get tickets to shows that we wanted to see and was very, very kind to my son. This property is well worth the time and the money.

Being a budget traveller, I would recommend this hotel in terms of its prime location and services. Living in zone 1, we can nearly walk to most of the attractions. Staff of this hotel are friendly and they will try their best to fulfill our requests of hot water and help us charging our camera (cos plugs are not enough for us 4 ppl). They English is very good too. Rooms are clean and you dont need to wear slippers! Highly recommended to those who prefer staying out till late and saving more money on things other than accomodation. But get prepare that you will be waken up by the smell of bread at 6am, which is still a funny things to us!

My stay was positive but not because of the room so much. It looked like most rooms are very nice but ours was on the top floor and mildew stains on the old wallpaper was consistant with the musty smell. Otherwise it was really clean. Most importantly thought the management and staff were the best. Super friendly, helpful and informative. I would stay again just because of them! Thanks Guys!

I recently stayed here with 2 friends as we packed through Europe. It was relatively difficult to find at first, but once we did find it, we never lost it again! We did laundry in the sinks and hung clothes out to dry on the window sills. It was SUPER hot when we were there, so air conditioning would have been nice, but we survived anyhow. The last day we were there, there was a leak in the ceiling from a shower above our room and it looked like there was going to be a cave-in at any moment. The staff was in there quickly to examine, but did not offer compensation as we were checking out later that morning. Internet was unavailable during breakfast hours, but otherwise decent, if a bit pricey :) I'd definitely stay there again. I felt safe in the hotel and well informed from the helpful staff about things to do and how to get there.

Do not think of this as a chain hotel! IT is NOT! For the price this place was the best as far as location! walk to Louve 2 blocks, metro 2 blocks and Opera 4 blocks. We didn't like employee's choices of food so get a guide book But they spoke english and they had internet there in the hotel to rent, you buy 15 mins at a time. They had maps and other tourist stuff if you need it. We got a non-smoking room and it was on the third floor not bad, stairs will get old but just remind youself how much you paid for the location. Like a motel 6 in a great location.

The location is really close to several sights such as Louvre Museum and Place de la Concord etc. It's only five-minute walk to get Louvre Museum. As long as you visit Paris without driving a car and want an economical accomodation, it's wise to pick this hotel. If you drive a car you will have a hard time finding a car park around the hotel. The traffic in Paris is always heavy and parking fee is around 20 euros per night.

Louvre Richelieu provided a warm enjoyable stay for us for a week in Paris. The friendly staff, confortable hotel, and good location more than made up for the 7 straight days of Spring rain we endured (don't worry my dear Paris, you are still the most beautiful city in the world!). The clean & modern bathrooms could do with a little more water pressure. That said, combining the shower head & the toilet flush will get rid of almost anything you can throw at the porcelain! The breakfast consisted of ample croissants & baguette, and was a great way to start the day. The Louvre Museum was within easy walking distance, as was the Pyramides metro station, providing convenient access to the major sights in the city. Anyone who needs convincing that this is a good location stay when in Paris, picture this: You leave the Louvre Richelieu hotel, wander 5 minutes to the Louvre, see some of the most awesome art & artefacts in the world (Winged Victory of Samothrace . . . breathtaking!). Wander through the Jardin de Tuilleries, see Cleopatra's Needle in the Place de la Concorde, before continuing onto the Champs Elysees, at the top of which stands the imposing Arc du Triomphe. Overall, easily one of the most romantic and beautiful walks in the world, and imagine topping it off with a stroll to the illuminated Eiffel Tower in the evening! Waaaahhhhh, I wanna go back already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This hotel is only for the low budget traveler willing to climb many flights of stairs. Furnishings are spartan. We were in a 5th floor attic, but the stairs equalled 7 floors and were narrow and treacherous. There is no elevator. Could not stand up without hitting your head on ceiling on one side of the bed. No lower level room was available. We changed hotels after the first night. If you are a student, or very fit, and don't mind minimal situation, the location is good.

Location, location, location, really excellent location...just 400 metres from the Louvre, a splendid bakeries, cafes, restaurants within a closer distance than that and many of them. Our room was on the third floor and so not noisy, especially at night. The room was basic but spotless, not large, but a comfortable bed and truly splendid sheets, we loved it. I was a little disappointed in the price...we booked ahead, paid cash, had no breakfast, and it was still 82 euro per night, they might have given us a better break I thought. However, they were very friendly, no hassle, francophone exclusively but I speak good French so no problem.

Our room was as expected for a one stat hotel. It could have been decorated better in one place next to the single bed (it was a triple room), the paint had come off the wall and looked both dirty and unhygenic, otherwise it was fine.

It was pricey in Euros (82) but the cheapest we could find for a weekend break. It is central which helped but the rooms are dingy and don't have much to brag about. Overall it was clean and that is what mattered to us most. Breakfast should have been included for that price though.

The hotel was clean and comfortable offers good value for money in an excellent location. However, I changed my booking by e-mail one week beforehand from a quadruple room to two twin rooms. I received a confirmation that this had been done but, on arrival, was told that no such change had been made. As one of the twins requested were unavailable my sister and I were forced to share a double bed for two nights. This would not have been so bad were it not for the fact that the staff of the hotel (in true Parisian style) refused to accept that I had changed my reservation and refused to move us or offer compensation for the inconvenience - it was only on my return home, when I forwarded the confirmation e-mail back to them that I received an apology. A bit too late!

The best thing about the hotel is the LOCATION - 6 minutes walk from Louvre! Rooms are big for Paris standards. The hotel needs some paint and the manager is cranky but otherwise it is a great deal for such location and spacious room.

Louvre Richelieu is ideal if you require somewhere basic and cheap to stay in an ideal location in Paris. Rooms are very basic but clean and anything the hotel lacks in style it makes up for with its great location - we were within walking diatnce of some of the best bits of Paris.

Pros: excellent location; friendly, helpful staff; clean linens and bathroom facilities; price; laundromat, bakery, and coffee shops within steps of front door, 2 metro stations within 5 min. walk. Cons: 4th floor and no elevator; worn carpets and wall coverings. Summary: exactly what we were looking for, a clean, safe place to stay in heart of city that allowed us to spend our money on museums and food and not the beds. Extremely helpful and friendly staff.
