We absolutly love the location. We could see the Louvre out of our windows and the Royal Palace was right behind the hotel. We walked with our kids everywhere. There are many places for breakfast around the hotel but we think that the breakfast at the hotel was really worth the money, great baking goods and relaxing atmosphere. We tried bistros close to the Opera, but eventually continued with hotel breakfast. It is worth to book the shuttle from the hotel to the airport, we saved plenty of time and hussle with our bags and metro without any elevators or escalators.Personal will book it for you, best 24 hours before the trip. We loved our view from the room and also the very old and cute elevator. There are very rare and charming. Location is absolutly the best!!! The hotel is a bit older but the money we saved on accomodation we spent on presents and restaurants. There is also pharmacy around the corner and metro stop walking distance.

It was the first time I stayed at this hotel, and I was surprised how everything is so near!: Louvre museum, Jardins du Palais Royal, Comédie Française, Rue Rivoli with its shops... There are also many restaurants in the neighbourhood to go and have supper. All the people at the reception are very kind, so I was glad to come back at the hotel feeling home for two days somehow, thanks!

We ,me and my wife were stayed it the Montpensier hotel for 5 nights last week of March 2014.We had the room nr.29 on the 5th floor.Elevator was small but enough size for us.The room was small about 12m.but we not felt squeeze. There were a wardrobe, small table,2 chairs,TV-set,and a comfortable bed. Also bath room with a toilet, shower, sink, hairdryer. Was not tea-pot in the room.Through the window view was not romantic just hotel courtyard and roof of he back side of the hotel, but it was perfect for sleep quiet every night. We did not hear any voices of neighbours all time ,only hear shower behind the wall.We had only one breakfast 10 Euros per person.Breakfast was good but too plentiful for us,we are usually eating little in the morning.Other days we had breakfast near at the la boulangerie on the Rue de St Anne 10 euros for both.At the reception we saw different people at days usually women,at nights men.All of them were very pleasant ,friendly and helpful. So,we had a good place to stay in the best location of Paris. If we some day coming back to Paris we'll be back here again.

Very pleasant, approachable and helpful staff. Breakfast was good. Easy walk (3 min) to the Louvre and riverbank (5 min); great location for a reasonable price. Also within easy walking distance to eating places/ cafes/ restaurants (1-2 mins). Found a small grocery store up the road too and a pharmacy just around the corner. Were somewhat disappointed that the rooms without en suite (shared shower for the floor) did not cater for "twin accommodation"; double bed was the only available option. Very, very small lift; large enough for one person and one large suitcase only!! Hotel rooms were a bit old and worn, but well worth the price for being so conveniently located.

No parking or unloading zone. We parked on the walk to unload. The staff was very helpful and helped us to retrieve a personal item left in our rental car. They provided good dining and tour recommendations etc. Will definately consider Montpensier if we return to Paris.

Excellent hotel in an amazing location, literally around the corner from Louvre. All rooms have recently been renovated so it is all spotless and beautiful, spacious rooms which is not what you expect for that price and that location. Our room faced the courtyard so was very quiet. Breakfast is very good and well worth 10 euros - cereals, yoghurts, cheeses, juice, coffee, fresh bread and pastries, so excellent. They were ending the renovation of the public areas and once it is done, the prices will go up so go there now while you still have a chance!

Stayed for 3 days in summer . Location was amazing 1 min walk to the louvre and 10/15 min stroll to notre damme. Everything else easily accessible by metro. The room was better than on the venere pictures which was a pleasant surprise, it looked like it had just been refurbished. We paid for the chepeast double room however we seemed to have been upgraded to a room with a toilet ! Shared shower was nice and clean and close to our room. The room was next to the street but this was no problem but to keep the room cool we had to use the fan which was quite noisy. Still managed to get to sleep though. A kettle would have been nice to make coffee and there are plenty of shops/bakeries close by if you are on a budget as the breakfast is quite pricey. Overall a lovely hotel and will be coming back if we happen to visit Paris again.

The best thing abot this hotel was the price in correlation to its location. To find a budget hotel in the center of Paris, right next to the Louvre (a block away) is close to impossible but Hotel Montpensier is IT! the location cannot be beat, with access to major metro lines within 2 minutes, this hotel was beyond convenient: it was worth every penny- and we didnt pay much! The rooms could use some work but why stay inside when there is so much to see in the City of Lights!

You can reach Louvre in 2 min and Opera in 5 min on foot. The neighborhood of the hotel is excellent. The room was clean and quiet at night. Breakfast for 10 € was decent. I would recommend this hotel those who want to explore Paris easily since it is close to metro line 1 and many attractions. The price quality relation of the hotel at such a location was excellent.

Easy to find, near the Lourve. Stayed at a total of 5 Venere hotels, this was stop #2. I had previously stayed in Paris for 4 weeks while studying abroad and this hotel was a great find. They do have an elevator and wide stairway, so would be OK for older couples or people who have lots of luggage. We opted to not eat the breakfast, so I can't comment on that but they did have a nice dining area. They room was very spacious, with TV, desk, closet and separate bathroom. The bathroom was very similar to an American hotel, complete with glass shower. Our room had a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the street. We kept it open the first night to get a draft, but it was too noisy. The second night we closed it and slept better. The room also came with a fan (that our previous hotel did not have) and it made a huge difference. A HUGE plus was free wifi- they gave us a log-in for the duration of the stay. Overall very nice, we really enjoyed the location and the room was very clean and spacious. Would recommend to anyone!

Location is great, it is situated near the Louvre, there is a lot of shops, cafe and restaurants around the hotel. One receptionist was really helpful, we asked him to reserve a taxi for us and he did his best to find a taxi with the best price for us. The room was enough spacious for two-star hotel. The outside view was nice. There wasn't any bathroom accessories, the bathroom facilities was really poor. The wardrobe was with no shelves inside. The quietness of the room is bad, There was a lot of sounds during the night and house-made started to make a noise from the early morning. We stayed in hotel for 5 nights and the bedclothes wasn't changed during this period.

Young couple Me and my husband. Stayed for 3 days. Room Nr.8.The biggest advantage of this hotel-the locantion in the Paris city centre 1e. Very nice designh of the room.(very simple to but very very nice)The sink, the toilet were inside. The shower was on the etage. Very clean. The surrounding was very nice too. the metro line 1 just in few steps. The great museum Louvre, the park Toilerre were just in front of you.had a nice romantic evening walk.Could not afford it in other regions of Paris.Very quite at nights.Very warm. No noise. Wifi worked great. The staff was very friendly.WQould stay again. Some advices for travellers. There is a small supermarket in few steps of this hotel. They allow to use microwave oven, as they sell some food that could be warmed in the oven.this allows to save money , as the prices are very high in this region in the restaurants.

The Montpensier could not have been in a better location-one block away from the Louvre and one block in the other direction is the nearest Metro stop. The room was cozy, but not tiny, and the private toilet was nice. They need more public showers, though, as there was only one per floor. Front desk staff spoke English and were very helpful. No free wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby, but that is my biggest complaint. I would stay there again.

Staff were friendly, tried to give us some advices, did not hesitate to explain or answer any questions, provide the map and explain about transportation. Biggest issue is the cleaniness, in the lobby and especially in the bathroom in the corridor. They should change or retrain cleaning ladies, found hair and used shampoo from previous day, lobby carpet not hoovered during the whole stay. Free WiFi in the lobby is very appreciated. They saved us by placing summer time change on the lift in advance. It would be lovely if they played some nice local music during breakfast as the breakfast space is too small and there was always akward silence among guests during breakfast. Location is amazing, next to Louvre, walking distance to Notre-Dame and 1min to metro station.Watch out for connections to the airport, especially by metro, as they cancel trains anytime they want with no english announcement in the metro station-what happend to us. We stayed in Lavabo, which is totally fine for a couple who stays over weekend or so. Just quality of bathroom should be immed.improved. They could lower the prices, that would be nice. For a tourist who must take hotel cost into consideration, I would stay there again.

the hotel is very well situated for an acceptable prize. I had the simplest choice of rooms. The room very small, but ok for a night. Very calm. And clean. But with a strong odeur, like of sweat. But it was possible to have the windows open. A hotel that prob.has been a hotel for 100 years? and therefore with a certain charm. Hopefully the elevator is normally working. there were people working on it. Now it did not, and there were no "piccolos" to aid with bringing luggage up all the floors. But generally I was very satisfied because of the excellent situation. I could walk to Louvre right outside, a great teater right outside, recommended, and i could walk to pompidou. I will probably choose the same hotel again if in Paris and visting the art-scene

Cheaper rooms indicate with "Lavabo", this is not a shower, only toilet, washbasin and bidet. Initially we were dissapointed, but we never had to wait for the shower which was close to our room. So, it was actually worth saving 50% by taking the cheaper option.

My spouse and I travelled with my parents (both in their 50s) and stayed here for 5 nights. I'll start with the positives first because the location really couldn't be better. There are restaurants, cafes, small markets and bakeries everywhere which was just wonderful. As soon as you step out the front door of the hotel you can see the walls of the Louvre about 2 blocks away and pass a beautiful pair of fountains in a square on the walk there(if you look up the other street at this square you'll see the lovely Opera house). The staff was helpful and polite and the sitting area near the front desk was convenient for meeting up before heading out on our excursions. Downsides of this establishment are the tiny cage elevator, small and outdated rooms, and no air conditioning or internet provided by the hotel. I don't know where the picture of the room on this website came from but on the fifth floor we had a very basic double bed with a wardrobe and bathroom with shower. The room was well used, but clean. My parents, however, had a double with shower on the third floor which had a very old bathroom which never did seem quite clean (I assume our bathroom had been updated fairly recently and theirs had not). Since all the rooms seemed to have a window onto an inner courtyard we could hear conversations from all residents so it was sometimes very noisy. Without air conditioning the windows always had to be open and the fan running to be comfortable. We also had to purchase wireless internet through Orange (a provider there) since the hotel doesn't have any. Several hotels on the same block were over twice the cost for a double room so I really think we found a value for the location. I would stay here again since I don't usually spend much time in the room and use my hotels mostly for sleeping and loved being able to stay in my favorite area of Paris.

Not much to say really, spacious room which backed onto a nice quite street, free wifi was handy, room could do with air con but it was cool enough to be comfortable (fortunately), the only real complaint was the fact that the shower leaked a bit and had a mind of its own temperature wish, fortunately it was not scalding to freezing just hot to luke warm and back again, but it was managable. The location near several key Metro stops and the RoissyBus/Airport location at Opera Garnier gave us many choices for walking the city and accessing the Metro/Bus/Train lines. The free wi-fi in the lobby saved us additional money. Access via the Orange wi-fi system (aligned with many other for-profit wi-fi services) was available in our 5th floor room, too. All of the front desk staff provided welcoming, friendly assistance throughout the week.

Great location, close to all sights and monuments. The room was very small, we were given a room smaller than what was paid, but the staff refused to change it. The staff at this hotel is extremely unhelpful, and rude. It has made the stay very unpleasant!

Parfect to visit the Louvre. The bedroom is old fashion but the beds are comfortable. A little noisy but we are in the center in Paris.

This hotel is exactly what is says it is, inexpensive but in a great location particulary for the Louvre. The rooms are small, in need of an update and the bathroom is basic but the greatest Gallery is only five minutes away even if you walk slowly. Excellent restaurant two doors away turning left out of the hotel. Breakfast basic but adequate. Better to be had outside in more pleasant surroundings.

The location was excellent but generally Paris is easily accessible from any part of the city, so being so central is not really necessary. Everything else was fairly standard. I was pretty happy with the size and cleanliness of the room (though I had little expectations). I would recommend this Hotel if you want something basic and central.

Excellent location, just a few meters from Le Lovre. Ok quality for this relatively low price.

This is a classic case of what is shown in the internet is not what you get. The Internet showed so much beauty, but when you see it, you wish that you had not travelled at all. Where do i start, well lets put it that room was noisy, dusty, no aircon, hot, beds were old, bath room was unclean, no internet as stated, breakfast was not worth it. Dark hallways, small elevator and cant put luggage. Need to take the stairs to bring your stuff. Security was very lax, anyone can get your key or you could just mention any room and they will give the keyout. Person was so unfriendly and you have to be the one to find your own solution. The catch here is for less you can go 5 meters away to a better hotel for the less price. Dont want to add more, but i am glad that part of my trip is over.

I spent a few hours on the internet searching for a one night stay in Paris and chose Montpensier Hotel mainly due to reviews from Venere. We were not terribly impressed with what we found. The building was under some sort of renovations, which was fine, but there was no way they could possibly mend the permanent tilt the building seemed to have. Our room was large and had plenty of beds to accommodate our family of four. However, the floor in the room was also on a slant - as were the beds - and the threadbare carpeting could not hide the fact that there were holes underneath. I was worried that if we stepped down too hard we would go right through to the room below. The whole room had a very worn and unkept feel and was not particularily clean The bathroom was another story altogether. Having showers, no matter how careful we were, created a puddle of water at least an inch on the floor. Filling the wash basin was an adventure, for when you unplugged it to let the water out, instead of going down the pipes, the basin emptied on the floor. Having said this, the front desk was very friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was adequate. I did have a chance to peak into another room adjacent to ours, and it looked much more inviting. Perhaps our room was an anomly and the rest of the hotel was perfectly fine, but we will not attempt to find out on our next trip to Paris.

Room was clean, breakfast was adequate. very noisy section of town. bring earplugs- but the location of this hotel is absolutely amazing. it is located within a walking distance to just about everything - a block from the Louvre and a metro station a block away too. Employees were very nice. Elevator broken twice during stay. Must climb many stairs if lift is inoperable.

The hotel was great and the rooms were all clean. I loved that the hotel was very close to the Metro station. It was also down the street from the louvre and within walking distance of many great attractions. Safe and great worth in price.

The hotel was very close to the Louvre and located in an area where you feel safe at night. The hair dryer in the room was a bit outdated, but other than that, there are no complaints for the price and location.

We booked accommodation in this hotel because of its proximity to major tourist attractions. We booked double room with Superior Bathroom but found we had to walk a considerable distance to the shower (which wasn't very clean). The double bed was pushed almost against the wall so the person sleeping on that side could not get out during the night without disturbing the other person in the bed. The carpet felt dirty underfoot. There was a construction site opposite the hotel & the noise from this woke us early in the mornings. Staff were pleasant. The Louvre was pleasantly close as was the Palais Royal Metro, plus the Tuileries Gardens. I feel the pictures shown on the websites were not factual but were misleading.

A fabulous bargain at the price - a real dollar saver! Best location in all of Paris. Close to transport, restaurants, shopping, museums. This was my second stay at the Montpensier and I would happily book there again!

Fantastic hotel. First time to Paris and went as single female traveler. Thrilled with hotel location, right in direct center of city; able to walk to all desired locations within Paris. Never used the metro in 4 days of sightseeing. Very clean, safe, and friendly hotel. Only downside was thin walls. Hotel actually charged less than reservation was for. Have already recommended to 2 co-workers and will defintely stay here again when I return to Paris.
