Australia, Nov 2009
We had booked this Hotel (30/10-2/11 2009) on line and were a bit concerned because we couldnt find any references good or bad. But at the time the louvre Montana (Emeraude Hotel) offered the only vacancies for a three person room at a reasonable tarrif, our adult daughter was travelling with us. What a stroke of luck! not only was the room large by Paris standards but the bathoom was huge. And really you would be hard pressed to find a hotel in a better position offering so much fro the price. We were five minutes walk from the tuilleris ten minutes from the Louvre and twenty minutes from the Place de Concorde. Their is always an English speaker at reception and it has a n elevator even if only two people can fit in it. Forget the hotel breafast at 14 Euros something of a rip but typical of Paris. Heaps of coffee shops and excelent Bistros minutes away for that. I give this hotel overall 8.5 out of 10 and would not have the slightest hesitation staying their again

the hotel was in great super location, but the size of room was super small, i am usually a person who doesn't complain about the room size but this was unbelievably small, don't move in the toilet you might break something because it is very small.

Excellent room and location. There was supposed to be a bar but no sign of it. Lovely breakfast even though we had to pay for it and it was a little crowded, lucky to get a seat. Overall, excellent stay. Hotel staff nice, we were making an effort to peak french and they didnt talk back in english until we were struggling, which was great for people who wanted to practice french. Would highly recommend it.

Superb location, large rooms and bathrooms, cold A/C, quiet at night. Close to major museums, gardens, and Metro, we didn't need car or taxi, many restaurants, a supermarket and self laundry within easy walk. Bread and pastry shop 1/2 block away. Hated to leave. Highly recommended

DISGUSTING hotel. The lobby was nice; the room was utterly, absolutely disgusting. It had a lingering smell, the ac NEVER worked properly, so we'd have to leave the windows open, which meant cigarette smell wafting in at all hours, hearing the neighbors have very loud sex, and bugs flying into the room. The bathroom is huge though - almost as big as the room. But the comforter/carpets/furniture were so dated & gross, I didn't want to touch anything in the place, even the bathroom. Basically you're just paying for location. The hotel staff was the worst I've ever encountered. They were clueless, rude, most hardly spoke english, etc. They were so unhelpful that it was almost mind-boggling. The location is good, if you don't mind staying in a total dive.

My boyfriend and I visited Paris for our anniversary. We were both impressed by the hotel. The room was huge and we could see the Tuilleries from our window, which was lovely. Each member of staff that we encountered was incredibly friendly and their English was very good, although we did try and mainly speak French to them! They seemed to appreciate that!! We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as there are so many places nearby - go to Angelina's! The Louvre Montana was in a perfect location and I have already recommended it to friends and family!

Excellent service -- above and beyond the expected. Location is unbeatable... centrally located, and if this is your first trip to Paris -- perfect. Close to Louvre, metro, yellow tram (drop off at all major points). Restaurants all around. The staff speaks perfect English, if that is a concern. I would stay again just because of the staff! Keep in mind that breakfast is not included in price-- and we just ended up eating in local places (omelettes, standard breakfast) elsewhere at better prices. Not a big deal. A double room (Two twins)was very large, by European standards.

Good hotel in great area. The metro stop is about a 5 minute walk and you are literally across the street from the Louvre. It is a pretty quiet hotel on a side street but many good cafes, stores all around. Also in the room is a mini-ref. and a kettle for making tea. If one prefers coffee bring your own. My only complaint is that the a/c did not work as well as we would have liked. The mgmt said they would check it after we left. We were in room 22 and it was spacious for 3 adults with a tiny balcony facing the street. We were pleasantly surprised! Beware-the hotel called a taxi to take us to CDG Airport as we had a lot of luggage- but the meter was started as soon as the taxi left dispatch-- before they ever pick you up. The driver would not write down the "extra" charge when he gave us a receipt. We called the hotel and complained and they said that it is standard and is arbitrary what they add on. The police also told us at airport that the practice is legal. Maybe that is something that needs to be verified before one arranges a taxi pick-up so there are no surprises. Other than that-I would definitely stay at this hotel again even if I was traveling alone. I felt that safe. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel-it is rather pricey and there are wonderful bakeries minutes away.

The location of the Hotel was excellent for our purposes; however, it was extremely small. We had a very tiny closet, but no drawers. We thought breakfast was included, and were not told when we checked in that it was not. Breakfast ran us $12 per person. One night we wanted a drink at the bar. It was 11 p.m. The hotel had stated the bar was open un 12 a.m. They said they were closed and we could not get a drink. We only stayed 2 nights so we adjusted to size of room. Again, location was great.

Location can not be beaten is excellent, staff really helpful and nice, elevator really tinybut with character, room is nice although carpet looks very old, but bathroom although small is brand new with shower screen instead of curtains and that is nice, we had a room at the back so no exterior noise (but it is in a quiet street anyway) although we could hear other neighbours at times so you depend on them. Still for the price during the dates we stayed (would be double that price the following week) and location I would stay again there.

Location was excellent. Room not a big as appeared on the photographs. Breakfast not included and this is not clear when booking, but is worth the 12 euros for a continental buffet breakfast including cereals, eggs, ham, cheese, breads etc.. Some noise from other rooms / corridors but no traffic noise. Mini bar well stocked. Would stay here again when next in Paris. Only a few yards away from the metro.

Great location- very near a Metro stop. Room was small but we were basically only there to sleep and shower. This was our first trip to Paris. Not knowing the city in detail, we went up in price range to ensure an air-conditioned room and for the location- sure it was a little more than we would normally pay for vacation lodging on a trip in the US, but having the AC was a plus given the 90+ degree heat during our stay and the location allowed us to experience "Paris" and not spend our time on trains getting into central Paris.

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The rooms were clean and well equiped but a bit too small. It was also quite noisey very earliy in the morning, with someone coming in to clean the room at 8.30am. Also the fire alarm went off at 10.15am but no one was told it was a false alarm until they had got to reception...we were on the 4th floor!

Nice Hotel, Great location. Two blocks from the underground which can get you anywhere. It was a very short 5 minute walk to the Louvre and the Gardens, and only about 6 blocks to the Opera. One of our two rooms had a fantastic view. The other was of an inner courtyard. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. Offered us several suggestions on restaurants etc. The hotel is a decent bargin for Paris but I do wish breakfast was included in the rate. However, the was a great bakery just around the corner.

I payed VAT, cost of a safty box, and breakfast, in additon to the prices on the website. When I check-out, a young lady at a front desk called a taxi for me to the airport. The taxi driver demanded 65 euros because of reservation by the hotel. However, the meter showed only 50 euros. I suspect that the front lady was in league with the driver, because the driver thanked her much when leaving the hotel.

This is the best Paris hotel I have stayed in! I have used venere.com for my last five visits to Paris. The rooms are huge (for Paris and for the price), clean, quiet and the location is superb. The staff are immensely helpful (esp with taxis), spoke English better than us, and didn't laugh at our abysmal attempts at speaking French. Our rooms were exactly as requested (2 Deluxe Queen and one triple) at the price stated (which was very inexpensive). And there are lots of great cafes just on the Rue de Rivoli. We were very pleased and would definitely stay here again!

This is a nice hotel, and the rooms (based on the one we got) are quite large. Not state-of-the-art interior, but quite all right. And the rates we paid, was very good. Only 400 meters from the Metro makes it a good choice.

We booked a superior room costing circa €130 per night without breakfast, which is a bit expensive for January. It had two windows and was very spacious; even though the windows looked onto the street there was very little traffic and no problem with noise at night; the double bed was enormous but the room would have benefitted from the provision of armchairs and a table. The ensuite bathroom was excellent and used towels were changed each day. The location is brilliant.Overall the hotel is excellent and we would stay there again.

the room was ok but not what we expected for a superiour room. It says all rooms are sound proof but this wasnt the case. The price quoted on the website did not include breakfast or VAT. My only complaint is that it sounded like the people in the hallway were in my room and was woken up by that a few times. Also, it would be nice for the front desk person to tell clients that a cab's meter starts from the moment they call the cab and it is cheaper to catch one on the street. Overall we had a nice stay. Thanks

The location is absolutely THE BEST. Staff could be a lot more welcoming and helful. Had to ask twice to get shuttle pickup confirmed by female desk clerk. She seemed distracted each time we asked something. Loud party at neighboring apt went on until 3 AM when police finally arrived, but that was certainly not the fault of the hotel. Rooms are a bit tiredb but the excellent location overrides any and all complaints. I would definitely stay here again.

Very impressed by location - quiet street, adjacent to Tuileries Gardens, close to all amenities. Excellent value for money - staff were helpful afer initially being sent to wrong (a very small)room. The room we were finally allocated was excellent - to rear, and would usually be quiet, but some hammering work was going on below, which spoiled the calm. The tiny lift was an experience, and tea/coffee facilities in room could be better, but otherwise a great find, and a hotel we would use again.

Would have gladly paid more for the room for a better breakfast. It was insulting to pay twelve euros for a sorry excuse for breakfast. Selection was poor; quality was bad; and people had to wait for tables. Very crowded. I saw vacuum cleaners being used, but the cleaner has yet to think of vacuuming under anything or behind anything. The hair on the bathroom floor was rather disconcerting. Some Paris hoteliers just don't get it. We are finding more clean hotels in Paris than ever before. This one is better than the standard a few years ago, but they could do much better. Oh, and they must have had a shortage of lightbulbs. We talked with other guests who had broken lightbulbs as well.

The location of the hotel is very good, however it is pricey. The bath towels looked a bit brownish. It is an adequate hotel, and for the price we had stayed in better facilities. From the moment we arrived we were very well treated and the staff were extremely competent and pleasant to deal with. They helped us with the siteseeing details we needed and the excellant location of the hotel made it easy to use it as a base to explore Paris (the Louvre was 1 1/2 blocks away and with that a main siteseeing bus route stop). The unusual shower set up with a half glass door made it a bit difficult to shower without getting water on the floor but we managed without too much problem. Both Stephanie, the day desk clerk and the night desk clerk were very helpful, charming and spoke english well. They went out of their way to make our stay truly enjoyable. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Excellent rate for what you get out of this 3-star hotel located in the heart of the Louvres area. Staff was friendly, room was extraordinarily spacious! It was clean but would need a little renovation. Air conditioning was nice to have, too. Our 2 windows opened directly on the streets, so you could sip a coffee (provided for free in the room) at the window watching the crowded streets. Noise level was ok, no problem. I wouldn't recommend to take the breakfas buffet, because it is 12EUR and you could get a decent breakfast for less than 10EUR in many nice places in Paris center. I checked the rates displayed at the hotel front desk, and realized we payed ONLY 69EUR instead of 169EUR!!!! Thanx, Venere! I would definitely recommend this very cute hotel to anyone coming to visit Paris.

I stayed at Louvre Montana Hotel during the Easter Holidays (2004) and enjoyed its central location, its easy accessibility from four different subway stations, its reasonable prices, its friendly staff. The rooms are not very spacious, but the bathrooms are clean and comfortable (bidets are yet missing), not much noise can be heard from the streets and from the other rooms. A very narrow elevator (max 1 person + luggage or 2 persons without luggage) really custom-made for the size and the shape of the tiny stairwell, is a nice curiosity, but I can't recommend it to people who suffer from claustrophobia. Its strategical closeness to the Louvre Museum and to other important monuments is very useful to the tourists who have limited time available to visit the heart of Paris.

The best thing about the Louvre Montana is its wonderfully central location. Also the desk staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. I can definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

This hotel is 3-stars and standard rooms go for 169 eur. I had a great rate at 69 via Venere, but this is for the very small rooms located at the last floor. The rooms are OK apart from the chemical WC ("sanibroyeur"?) which smells bad and makes and awful noise.

It was a present for my parents for theirs 30th years wedding anniverary. At the moment of the reservation I told this at the hotel asking for a nice and special stay but my parents had a room very small and noisy. Very professional and pleasant staff.

This is a great little hotel with a fantastic location (right across from the Louvre, and near a square with a restaurant frequented by locals and a laundry, and not far from a grocery). The rooms have a very French feel with nice showers while still having a nice shower and air conditioning. There's even a quaint little mid stairwell elevator. The staff are very helpful when asking for assistance and do their best to speak in your preferred language or to help you through your french. The only drawbacks we found were the noise level in the rooms was awful - on two nights out of our 5 night stay, we were awoken by the noise of others; one time simply by kids in the breakfast area on the ground floor. The other was one member of staff was quite snippy and not very helpful. Overall I would stay there again, but I'd probably rearrange my schedule to get up earlier, or ask for rooms on the highest floor (to try to avoid morning noise).

The Louvre Montana was the highlight hotel of our recently completed France & Italy vacation. They were highly helpful in finding tourist sites, recommending routes to get there and overall very generous in every way. Laurent was particularly helpful. My high school French was rusty but Laurent's English ability was superb. We stayed there 8 nights and found out surprisingly that because of our 8 day stay we had been upgraded to the equivalent of a suite. It was wonderful! Their location is perfect... 2 minutes from the Tuilleries Metro station, 5 minutes from the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, 10 minutes from the start of the Champs Elysee and a 30 minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe! I would highly recommend the Louvre Montana and it is where my wife and I will spend if ever we are again in Paris!

I corresponded with the hotel prior to staying with them, asking them for lots of information regarding taxi prices from airport to hotel, also where the car parks are and how much they cost, also that we were staying with another couple and could it be possible to have our rooms next to each other. Laurent replied to MOST of our emails and he was very helpful, answering all our questions. When we arrived (which was about 1am - we have a very warm welcome, and we had rooms next door to each other) Everything was explained to us. It was wonderful, couldn't have asked for nicer people or a nicer hotel. The booking proceedure with yourselves was wonderful - so easy - I would recommend this to anyone - went without any problems. I have also emailed the hotel to thank them for a wonderful stay and how friendly ALL their staff (including the cleaners) were - they are sending me email onto their head office. Thank you once again.
