Hotel Reviews Louvre Marsollier Opera
United Kingdom, Oct 2009
Rooms were clean and well appointed, but tiny, as was the lift - I stayed with my parents, and usually walked down from the 4th floor as it wasn't really big enough for the 3 of us. We didn't have the breakfast, as at 12 euros it was twice the price of the very nice cafe on the corner. Good location - quiet street in a central area near the Opera.

Pierre at the Louvre Marsollier Opera was extremely helpful. The rooms are very small but clean & the location for us was good as most of the other hotels are on busy noisy streets. Initially we had 1 room on the 1st floor & the 2nd on the 6th but they were able to put us all on the same floor without too much trouble.

I have been in Paris four times. I stayed at Louvre Marsollier Opera with my wife for a long week-end. We are 32 years old. I changed to this Hotel from another one that was not satisfactory. We were very happy at Louvre Marsollier, I paid less than before and got much better. We had a comfortable double with very big bed. Room was tidy. You get all little comforts, including a water boiler and tea in the room. And (very nice) free Internet wireless access for guests. The building is small as often in Paris, the elevator is the smallest ever seen. Personnel was helpful and competent, with nice suggestions on transport and restaurants. The hotel is very close to three metro stations, with easy access to several lines; you can get everywhere. Overall the area is nice, but I feel that nightlife is in other arrondissements, not really at Opera. However there are several nice restos in a square just across Bd de l'Opera. I would go again there, and definitely recommend it to friends. Very good quality/price ratio. Perfect as a base to visit Paris, for young and mature couples, families, business travellers. Maybe not your ideal if you like very large luxurious hotel receptions.

I stayed at this hotel in late August 2009 and this hotel is in a perfect location right in the heart of Paris and in a quiet location. I could walk to most of the tourist attractions like the museums etc and Paris l'OpenTour, CityRama and Paris Vision Offices were also within walking distance as well. Shopping at Galeries Lafayette and Au Printenmps was within about ten minutes of the hotel. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were small but spotless and the price was very reasonable. It had an elevator, air conditioning and a wonderful breakfast buffet (not included in price of room). The staff was extremely friendly and also very very helpful. All staff had a very good command of the English language. I would highly recommend this hotel.

- Cleaning staff rather unfriendly, clean towels were missing every day, I mentioned to the reception, but improved only for one day; soap and shampoo was also not always available. On our last day they didn't clean and came in the afternoon when we were sleeping!! - In every hotel world wide they offer reception safe for free, here they asked for a fee (the safe in the room was also against a fee, again very unusual for a 3 star hotel) - At the reception they gave us the feeling they always wanted to sell some additional service and not that they wanted to help us - The location of the hotel was magnificent, pitty the service was definitely poorer than the one we had last year in Monte Carlo Hotel which was only 2 stars (also in Paris booked via Venere). We expected therefore more from this 3 star hotel.

I had a little trouble finding this hotel with my map. All else went well. The bathroom is quite small, and I'm fairly small. But it would not stop me from staying here again. Great location for price. Easy walk to Roissy Bus. Easy access to Metro and other sites. Quiet location. It was chosen for the location.

There is an Asian market and restaurant within 3 or 4 blocks. We used the market several times, never got into the restaurant, it occasionally had a line 10-12 people deep! There is a Starbuck's 2 short blocks away if you can't break that habit for the duration of your visit. The Pyramides metro station was a 5 minute walk away, the Opera Garnier with Printemps and Lafayette Gallerie department stores is 10-12 minutes walk. We enjoyed Cafe de la Paix (Place de l'Opera) very much, ate there twice for dinner. Food was well-prepared and presented. Table service was great both times.

An excellent hotel with helpful staff. Difficult to comment on value for money as it was over New Year. The decline of the £ didn't help.

Hotel Louvre Marsollier Opera was OK. If like us you want somewhere just to rest your weary feet at the end of the day then its fine... clean, reasonably quiet and great location (not to mention being right around the corner from Starbucks!). However if you're going to Paris with the intent of relaxing and chilling out in an inviting, bright and spacious hotel room the Hotel Louvre Marsollier Opera isn’t the hotel for you. Pictures and words cannot portray how incredibly tiny these rooms are... seriously they're miniscule! Oh and if you do stay here a word of warning for those as ignorant as us... you must leave your key at reception every time you leave the hotel... it is the "French way" as the “charming” receptionist dryly pointed out (...can’t say we’ve encountered it before in France?!). French traditions and tiny hotel rooms aside Paris is a wonderful city and well worth a visit. Enjoy!!

Located in a quiet street which is only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Louvre and the "simply must see" Musee d'Orsay. The hotel offers good value for money (considering its relatively central location), cleanliness, ease of access to the shuttle bus to and from Roissy Charles De Gaulle airport. The lift is incredibly small (as is the bath) and the stairs are somewhat challenging so it may not be to everyones liking. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful, we reccommend this hotel and would stay again

The location was perfect. Easy access to Metro, Louvre and Opera. I also liked the uneven and sloping floor it gave us quite a chuckle. We'd definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends (already have). Free internet access a real bonus. Hotel Lourve Marsollier Opera, please don't change a thing.

Excellent location, central yet pretty quiet. The room, same as the hotel overall, is very clean, although the furniture is a little outdated. The space is at a premium everywhere. The elevator is for 2 (that is, without any bags - if with bags - that's for 1 at a time). The room isn't exactly very spacious, however, enough space for 2 including a bed, a closet, a little desk and a coffee table. The bathroom is kind of tight and the fixtures are a little outdated (although everything worked) - however, again, enough room for its purpose (although with not much to spare). The breakfast definitely overpriced - just walk a few blocks and the same (if not better) is available for quite a bit less. Overall a very decent value for the price (again, considering location).

The hotel is in an excellent location within 5 minutes walking distance from two subway stations. It is in the midway between the Lourve Museum and the Opera Theatre on a quiet street. We stayed on the 5th floor with a reasonable size room looking down on to the street. We would stay there again.

This is the second time I've stayed in the Lourve Marsollier Opera and have returned due to the nice, clean, friendly hotel and the excellent location near metro, lourve and other major tourist areas. There are some lovely places to eat nearby including La Souris Vert on Ruse St Anne which is very authentic and French & excellent value for money. Didn't eat breakfast in hotel but there is a lovely little boulanger round the corner that does delicious bread & croissants with coffe etc also available. A brilliant location in a quiet area, we'd definately stay here again

Arrived at CDG airport took Roissy bus to the Opera house (last stop), walk back to the opera entrance and cross the square and you walk down Rue du 4 Septembre to the metro, turn left and then immediate left, down to the end of the street and the hotel is across the road. Reception extremnly helpful in guiding us around Paris. Rooms are small and bathroom very small but clean. Mini bar very reasonable. Nice restaurant beside the theatre and great bar on the opposite side to the theatre down the street towards the tobaconists on the right called Zn or Z2, serves food which looked great, locals really friendly and a nice trendy pub. Area can be quite at night although that pub stayed open till 02.00 on the weekend. Found the hotel a great place to get around from but no views from it as tucked away on a quite street. Staff very helpful in organising a taxi to takke us to the airport only €26, great as no hassel trying to find the correct terminal on return

We came to Paris for my wife's birthday. We looked for a small mid-class (3 stars) hotel. The staff was very nice, and the hotel itself was pleasant to stay in. The only thing that was a bit off was the size of the room. It was rather small and crowded and with comparison to other hotels I've been to in Europe, the price was a bit high for that level of room. Aside from that, the hotel is nicely located very close to the Opera house (where you can find a metro station), and also it is not a long walk down the street to the Louvre (10 minutes top).

We enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms are very small with small bathrooms but were clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very willing to help with restaurant reservations and recommendations. I would characterize the hotel as a quaint boutique type hotel. We would stay again

This was our first stay at the Hotel Louvre Marsollier Opera and we would definetly recommend this hotel to other Paris visitors. We had a wonderful welcome in English (which was very much appreciated)and were given a very useful map of central Paris showing us the location of the hotel and and the locations of all the general attrations / bus and boat tours etc. Our room was on the 6th floor but luckily there was a lift and despite the room being very, very small it was immaculate. The bathroom was equally tiny but again immaculate with a great shower over the bath. Mini bar and tv were also useful additions.

The room and bath were good. The desk clerks were all helpful. The room (and the breakfast at 10 Euros) seemed expensive, but probably in line with other hotels in the center of Paris. Since it is near several Metro stations, we found the location convenient. There are restaurants nearby.

First Stay away from major chain so was not quite sure what to expect. VERY PLEASED. The location if on foot is excellent because it is so close to the Opera for shops and sight seeing yet a few minutes walk to the seine. It is in a square off the main street and is very quiet at night so you get a good sleep. The rooms are comfortable and big enough for a pitstop for resting before heading out again. I am about to book another stay there today!!

The room was so tiny!!! The "closet" had a block of wood that came 3/4 of the way up so you couldn't fit any clothes and there was NO wardrobe so everything had to stay in our suitcases which we lugged on and off the bed each day to get in them. I bumped my elbows everytime I turned in the shower and the shower ceiling was no higher than 5'10. A full size man could not have even fit himself in this shower! Not to mention our room was on the 7th floor when the elevator only went up to the 6th. No one offered help getting our bags up the last flight of stairs. The elevator only fits two people and even that is very tight. I can't stress enough how TINY this place is! There are some good things about this hotel. The staff is excellent, especially Pierre. He made this hotel worth the stay. It's on a secluded street so we never heard any traffic or noise. And it is SO central. We walked each day either towards the Louvre or the Opera, can't get better than that. Just wish it wasn't so small :(

This was my second visit to Paris and my first stay at the Louvre Marsollier Opera. We were a party of 5 and I was glad to find a hotel that would accomodate all of us in a single space. It turned out to be 2 separate hotel rooms with a common outer door (The Oscar Wilde Suite), which gave us 2 bathrooms, an unexpected bonus! Rooms were tiny as expected for Paris but quiet and clean. Very conveniently located to metro, Louvre, and Opera. All in all, the only negative was the price, but that probably is more a function of the Dollar vs the Euro. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris. WARNING: Do NOT take train to Airport....pickpockets are very professional.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in late May 2007. The location is pretty ordinary but is convenient for sights like the Louvre, Champs Elysee, Opera House and the Tourist Office. Our room on the 6th floor was good but the bathroom was very smallish. Guess it would be difficult for a big person to shower and use the toilet. The lift was old style and could hardly fit two people and two small suitcases. We however appreciated the assistance provided by the very helpful people at the reception.

Great location, very pleasant staff, particularly the exceptionally helpful Alexandre. Would stay again here if in Paris in the future. Single room was clean but extraordinary small, breakfast (+10€) was an enlarged continetal breakfast (some added eggs and ham): these two aspects make the hotel not one of the most confortable hotels I've stayed in, but certainly the location is great for a reasonable price. Key points of the hotel are the staff (was great and eager to help on some initial problems I had in the wi-fi connection) and the free wi-fi connection with an excellent bandwidth and no firewalling on voip ports. We liked the location on a quiet street and in a central location. The room was nice and clean. Since it was a triple for the 3 of us, it was a good size. The bathroom was a nice size although some people might not like that there was no shower curtain. A few light bulbs burned out during our stay and did not get replaced which was a minor annoyance. The continental breakfast cost extra so we did not get it. We were able to get croissants nearby instead.

The hotel was ideally situated for central Paris and close enogh to the Roissy Bus stop at Opera (12 minute walk away). It was clean and quiet and the A/C was particularly welcome. Bathroom was excellent, kept very clean and towels changed every day. Only critcism was that the desk staff did not seem to know if any of the local attractions e.g. The Belle Epoque, could be recommended. Good stay though, would visit again.

This hotel is difficult for taxi's to locate because it's on such a tiny street it's not on their GPS. The good part is that most of the surrounding area is office space and very quiet on weekends. Recommend you find a restaurant called Chez Stella at 3 Rue Therese. It's tiny and intimate, the owner is the cook, they do very straightforward food and lovely desserts, and the price per 3 course meal is E10.6 which is amazing in Paris. Common tables with many locals gives you a great experience of the neighborhood. Location of the hotel is perfect to see the Opera, Louvre and Musee D'Orsay.

Our 4th floor Room was tiny but quiet. Hotel sports one of the smallest elevators that I have ever seen. Either luggage or patrons ride but not both at once. Apparently Oscar Wilde lived in the building back in 1899 (whilst dodging his creditors). The great advantage of this hotel in the area in which it is situated. Be warned though, the bathrooms are very small and can only really accommodate 1 person at a time. Breakfasts were continental and pretty good but not up to the standard of many other hotels we have visited on our trip. The dining area is tiny - however, it is surprising how well it works for all despite to small dining area.Location is excellent and we were within walking distance of the major attractions. Overall we were quite happy with this hotel.

A really good location. The hotel is central but also very quiet. The service was faultless. I was very pleased with the value for money and would certainly stay here again.

The Louvre Marsollier Opera Hotel is ideally situated for sight seeing central Paris. Many of the main sights are within easy walking distance. The hotel being situated just off the Avenue De L'Opera has the advantage of being in a very quiet position and still close to the bustle of Paris. The room was small but very clean. The breakfast was a little pricey but adequate. If ever we come to Paris again we would certainly consider staying here again.

The location was great next to a Metro station and close to the Opera and many of its restaurant and businesses. This was our second time here and we would definitely consider this hotel again. Thank you.

The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The location was great. Breakfast at €10 per head was not worth it but there are loads of lovely places nearby! and I found the free wi-fi a great advantage.

What I appreciated the most about this hotel is its location. We were in walking distance of the Seine river, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre. There is also a subway station close by. The street where the hotel is located is off the main streets so there is very little noise or traffic.

Nice hotel on a quiet side street. A little hard to find from the map provided online. We took a bus from the airport in Paris direct to the Opera House & then walked from there. It was a short walk, but the street the hotel is on doesn't really show properly on the map. Nice breakfast. Rooms are small, but typical of Europe.

my wife and I stayed 4 nights and apart from the room being ultra small for a double, every thing else was up to scratch.Temperature in mid 30s so airconditioner was a plus. Exellent location

The stay was very pleasant and the staff very friendly. Their English was far better than my French. The website implied that breakfast was included but in fact there is a 10 Euro/person charge each day for this service.

Hotel was in a good location and the rooms and hotel were kept clean, although reception always filled with the smell of cigerettes. Reception were rude and uphelpful on arrival.

The staff were unfailingly helpful and all spoke good English. The service was excellent and the room was clean and well equipped. The only thing missing in it was a mirror (there was only one in the bathroom). The location was very central and only a short distance by taxi from the Gare du Nord. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay was really excellent, also due to the heartly welcome of the hotel`s employees. The hotel was near Louvre and you could walk to any historic sites from there. Any time we will return to Paris we will surely think of staying in this hotel again.

Comfortable hotel, excellent location for Louvre and Grand Boulevard shops and for Airport transfer. Plenty of good value places to eat in walking distance.

A small friendly hotel in an excellent location. Our room (601) was small and the view was non-existent but it was very quiet and the hotel staff were very friendly. The location makes it an excellent choice with many great restaurants and the Louvre in walking distance.
