the rooms were rather small but well appointed. bathroom was also small and lacked a shower curtain / shower cubicle so was quite wet after a shower. location of the hotel was very central and though no metro station nearby, the RER station takes you everywhere quite fast...even directly to CDG and orly airports. very close to the luxembourg gardens and shopping streets.

3 fantastic days in Paris. The hotel is just as expected, and good for the price. Small street with little noise from traffic. It's located 100 meters from RER B and the Luxembourg public park area. Several good restaurants in the area. The hotel will give you advice. Metro day pass worked for us. Museum pass is not valid at the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame is free, so you have to visit a lot of museums to get value for money. If you visit the Eiffel tower, go to the top! Second floor is less than half the view. Seine river dinner cruise is recommended, spectacular! Good luck!

The whole staff was excellent in terms of service and willingness to help answer any questions or concerns. The location is excellent, in a quiet area of a very busy city at peak tourist time. There is also no escaping that the rooms and the facility are small. So the price is expensive but for Paris, that might represent a good deal.

The location is excellent but there were no windows in the room and at this price it's not normal! Too noisy ventilation. At this price I expected more benefits .For example, the Michelet Odéeon Hotel near the Jardin du Luxembourg Hotel Odeon is cheaper and more conformatable .

myself and my mom sayed at Jardins du Luxwmbourg last couple days. hotel is small but has excellent and very helpful staff and neat tidy rooms. i havent stayed in other hotels in Paris so dont know how big or small rooms are on average. Rooms in this hotel are small. Good for a couple but not as much for two people sharing. also there are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. if you want coffee in the morning you have to go down to the restaurant for breakfast. we were very lucky though and got served coffee to our room. it is not a common practise though. its in a quiet area and beds are very comfortable. thanks to Magda and other staff for helping with organisation of shuttle bus to the airport (it was the best thing ever-no hassle at all while travelling). overall it was a great stay. the only thing we found is that there are not many restaurants around the hotel so we were limited in going for a drink near the hotel in the evening, then again maybe we just did not know where to go. it is close to Notre Dame with lots of restaurants etc. bus service was great. we found Metro fast but unpleasant. its a personal choice how to travel but shuttle bus to and from airport from now on for us always!! good hotel. we would come back again.

Excellent location, very cooperative staff, and pleasant atmosphere. During our 3 nights stay, never found any negative point to mention. Staff is so freindly that you feel at home away from home. Located in the heart of the city, and very close to many attaractions and transport facilities. If visiting Paris for any purpose, try this hotel and you wont be disappointed. Size of the room? Remember you are in Paris, so do not expect a very large room. But ours was quite reasonable.

I can only echo the positive reviews that this is an excellent hotel of its type in which to spend a short break on the left bank in Paris. It is very convenient for Eurostar travellers, only three stops on the RER. The location in an impasse means it is very quiet. This is no seedy cul-de-sac but the entrance to a very classy private apartment building. The staff are all excellent, including the chambermaid and breakfast lady who are often wrongly overlooked in favour of the front of house reception. The buffet breakfast is not cheap but very good. Bacon and eggs sets you up very nicely for a hard day's sight-seeing. Paris is expensive but this hotel offers quite good value. It would be double the price nearer the river. Despite some comments, rooms are a resonable size(what do you expect? Versailles?) with large fluffy towels and a decent sized bath. I have stayed at several hotels in this quarter and this is my favourite. I didn't want to leave and, if I could afford it, I would keep the room as my permanent pied a terre in Paris. On a literary note, this is almost certainly the hotel Jean Rhys stayed at and used as the setting for her 1937 masterpiece "Good Morning, Midnight"

In fact it was very good, excepting for: - they charge internet additionally, 4,5 euros an hour!!!!!!!! Difficult for work, so you have to add to the price the additional expense. - I took breakfast, it was very good, but one day the eggs and coffee were not hot.

I enjoyed our stay very much. Room was great - clean and very very beautiful , bathtub was large, staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Breakfast was generous and yummy. Area was perfect - I recommend dining at the Japanese and Chinese restaurants, and the Patisserie down the street. We had everything we needed in a very short walking distance - a huge park, a playground (part of the Jardins du Luxembourg park), a pharmacy, a small supermarket, public transportation. The only con was that the room was not spacious. It did contain everything we needed, including a TV, a table, a chair, yet with a 2 years old boy a larger room would have been more comfortable. also the option of cooking a small something for him would have been nice. A huge pro was the charm of the staff. Our son enjoyed talking with the staff using few french words, and I felt very welcomed each time we came back from some journey.

Everything was wonderful, location is unbeatable. The hotel is very cute, nice and helpful staff, rooms small but nice and quite comfy, very comfortable beds so you get great rest. However, the hotel is very small and the doors of the rooms are right next to each other so it is VERY load and disturbing when people slam doors on your floor - the hotel could put signs up reminding guests to be courtuous. Breakfast is super (including eggs and bacon)but note that it is NOT included! Only bad thing - horrible hair-dryer! ))

One member of staff even booked our onward train and printed our boarding passes. Excellent location. If arriving into Charles de Gaulle, you can take the train direct to the Luxembourg stop and the hotel is a two minute walk from there. Beautiful Luxembourg gardens on your doorstep.Nearby Place de la Sorbonne has some great cafes and restaurants- try L'Ecritoire for good breakfasts and dinner. Perfect hotel for a stay in Paris !

The location of the hotel was excellent. The RER was just 1/2 a block walk away. Very convenient access to and from the airport with luggage. 24 hr desk was a plus since we got in at 1am. Very helpful with advice and directions. The only criticism was that the rug was frayed in the hallway. Aircon was good and we had a balcony to sip wine from. Convenient cafe on corner with the best coffee.

The hallways outside the rooms were very shabby and the room itself could definitely use some renovation. It looked drab. Also, the shower didn't work, and when i mentioned it to the concierge, it felt like he already knew. He claimed that he would talk to someone but never did. The front desk staff in general was very friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff was excellent. Location was pretty good in terms of public transportation and other services but on a dead-end street that was a little creepy at night.

Smallish room, but adequate and clean with a very comfortable bed and good bathroom with a strong shower. Very pleasant, helpful reception staff; kitchen staff were a bit noisy at breakfast, but this is a very small negative. Great location, beside the Luxembourg gardens and a few minutes walk from the Pantheon. Has wifi (€10 for 3 hours).

This hotel is in a side street which makes it fairly quiet of a night. We had a lovely terrace room No 18 on the 4th floor. The room was small but very clean and the linens were lovely. Thick fluffy towels and quality bed linen. Walking distance to the Luxemburge Gardens, Notre Dame and the river Siene. We were here in May and it was incredibly hot the airconditioning does not work well and it made for very uncomfortable sleep. The breakfast was not included in the price and we found McDonalds just down the street the cheapest choice. Our favourite part of our stay was to grab a panini and cold drink for lunch and sit in the Luxemburge Gardens it is just beautiful. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. You should look to the side streets rather than St Michel Blvde too touristy and the food quality is very poor. Overall we love Paris. We were slightly dissappointed with the area we last stayed in the Eiffel Tower district and much prefered it over this area.

We stayed here with our Canadian friends and were very happy with the hotel. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were not very large, but perfectly adequate and the beds comfortable, and on the 4th floor had a typical French view over the roof gardens opposite with little street noise to disturb the night. My only slight concern would be whether the air conditioning would be adequate in the hot summer. Although the breakfast was not included in the price it was very good by continental standards and well worth the 11 euros a day extra. All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel is you are planning to stay on the Left Bank

Don't be alarmed if the receptionist hands you your room key and tells you your room is outside the hotel and two doors down the street - that is what happened to us at midnight when we arrived - but the room, which opens directly onto the street and might have previously been an old boutique shop, is fabulous - a real "chambre de character". Clean, high ceilings, quiet and spacious - both unusual in Paris), nice bathroom. From talking to other guests I think our room was bigger than the usual rooms in the hotel. Breakfast is until 11.00am (very handy) and although more expensive than in the local cafes is better than most we've had in budget hotels in Paris, fresh exotic fruit salad, selection of cereals, lovely pastry selection and kept topped up. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Make sure you keep the directions to the hotel - the taxi man may need them. Its up a side street from the Boulevard St Michel and then down a quiet cul-de-sac. Easy to find when walking, but in a taxi it is much more challenging. As hotels in Paris are really just for sleeping in (you spend all your time out and about) we look for simple and cheap - there are other hotels a bit cheaper and just as clean/friendly etc, but this is definitely one we'd stay in again.

Overall, was a very pleasant stay and a great hotel for Paris, especially for those who want to be near the Jardins du Luxembourg and metro Luxembourg. A few small problems: Air Conditioning was broken and was not fixed because it was the evening and the repair man could only come the next morning. Remote control for television was also broken, which required changing the channels manually on the television itself. Shower was very small and had no shower curtain, which leaked water all over the bathroom floor.

We went to Paris for our honeymoon for a week. The staff was excellent. Rooms weren't huge, but there's so much to do you don't want to be in your room too much. Noisy, but only because there was construction going on outside. I'm sure it's not like that all the time. Hotel is 2 blocks from a Metro station which was great. We stayed at this hotel twice--for 3 nights at the beginning of the trip and 2 nights at the end. We would definitely stay there again for the comfort, location, and nice staff. Bedding was very comfortable and it was quiet for sleeping, although our streetside room (no.4)had a lot of noise (mostly motorscooters and construction) starting about 7-7:30 am and ending about 11 pm. Not a problem if you get up early and spend most of the day and evening out, as we did. Our second stay was in room no. 2, which was a bigger and nicer room but is right off the lobby and has a window on the interior courtyard--this had noise from within the hotel but again was quiet at night for sleeping. Only real problem with no. 2 was open shower design in the middle of the bathroom. It got almost the entire floor wet, even when we adjusted the spray to minimize the reach. The bathroom is roomy and looks very nice, but it was a bit of a hassle trying to dry the floor after each shower. If we got that room again we'd request an extra bathmat--I'm sure they'd provide one, as the staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't take their breakfast but instead bought a baguette and drink from nearby boulangerie and enjoyed them in nearby Luxembourg Gardens--a very Parisian experience. We walked almost everywhere but when using Metro either went to the Cluny-Sorbonne stop or got on the Luxembourg RER (about 5 minutes away) and transferred to Metro. This RER is convenient to CDG airport (no transfers) but be warned it is something of a hassle if you have heavy bags, because there are a few sets of stairs to deal with. We went during rush hour so we had to stand for the first few stops.

The beautiful Jardins de Luxembourg are a minute's walk away. Only ten minutes' walk to the left bank and Notre Dame. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Near RER station - not Metro, so the convenience is not what it should be. Hard to xfer to the RER from Metro much of the time. Close to Pantheon and Luxembourg gardens, but otherwise you could be better located elsewhere. Rooms are very cramped - you are likely to bang into furniture when moving around. OK, but not great. The shower in the hotel room did not work. When asking the staff to fix it I got the reply that I could take a bath or leave the hotel if I was not happy...that's first class customer service!!

I was looking forward to my stay here and found the location incredibly convenient and quiet when arriving from CDG on the RER B line. I was disappointed upon arrival that the hotel was turning clients away due to a water problem apparently stemming from a 2 night rain storm prior to our arrival. The hotel did arrange for accommodation at a sister hotel (in the 8th arr.) and pay for a taxi to transfer us, however I was curious whether any local hotels (in the 6th) were actually contacted or whether only hotels associated with this one (a group of 5 apparently) were tried. In any case, we were well treated and the Relais de Monceau (where we eventually stayed) was a very nice property in a good area. In the end, I would book at the Jardins again to actually try it out! (note: some of my numerical responses are manufactured in order for the web-site to accept this feedback)

Hotel is ideally situated. Very close to the metro. Short walk to Notre Dame. Hotel in Cul de sac - very quiet. Rooms are small but are more than adequate as you don't spend too much time in them. Very clean especially bed linen. Hotel is quiet, not many facilities but as a base for a short trip to Paris we would fully recommend it.

Extremely comfortable beds, beautiful linens, large bathroom with towel warmer, luxury soaps, very nice decor in rooms. The location on the Impasse guarantees a peaceful quiet night's sleep. We arrived right in the middle of the "manifestations" about the CPE but heard none of it! Staff are very helpful and pleasant. The location is right by Metro Luxembourg which is very convenient for arrivals from Roissy. An excellent hotel!

We stayed at the Jardins for 4 days. Initially in a rear facing room at the lower level (3). It was very dull and small although my partner thought the bathroom good. We asked for an upgrade to a front facing room and this was agreed at a modest supplement. When it came time to move there was a problem with this room so we got moved again to the top (sixth) floor which has rooftop views including the top portion of the Eiffel Tower. The hotel staff were generally helpful although don't expect a quiet lie in if you've been out the night before as the cleaners bang about a bit, we found. The location is convenient without being right in the thick of things but is also very close to the RER station and the Luxembourg Gardens which we found major advantages. There are shops and restaurants and bars close by which offer good value. Not having a Paris hotel benchmark my view is that the prices charged are full though not excessive. I would stay here again but only in a front or top room. For my next visit I'm going to try the Art Hotel in Montmartre which has been recommended and is more reasonably priced. Also suggested was the Leveque in Rue Cler which is more budget and close to the Eiffel Tower set in a pedestrianised shopping street. Lastly I would say there was mismatch between the availability offered at the hotel and on the venere website. Worth noting.

A good, simple, clean hotel. Situated in a lively area with lots of decent restaurants and bars closeby and the Jardin du Luxembourg across the road. Friendly staff and right on the metro line from CG Airport. We will happily stay there again.

I only stayed here one night, because I was flying from Paris the next day after a meeting in Bourges, and wanted a hotel that was both close to the RER line to CDG and also conveniently located for a day of tourism. This hotel really fit the bill. It is less than a block from the Luxembourg RER Station, which has trains to CDG every few minutes, and has a great location next to the Luxemboug gardens. The location in a cul-de-sac meant the my room was quiet at night, even on a balmy Saturday night when most of Paris seemed to be out of doors. Since my stay was so short, and I spent most of it away from the hotel, I've got less to say about the accomodations themselves. My room wasn't large, but it was comfortable and well-appointed. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again under the same circumstances, and would consider the hotel for a longer stay in Paris as well.

The only problem we had was that the room's safe did not work. However, the hotel kept our documents in their safe instead. This worked well. Good quality, good loction and near metro.

We really enjoyed our stay at Les Jardins. The rooms were cozy, but nice. The location was very good, a quick walk to the metro. The price paid (140 euro/night) was reasonable for the quality of the room and location. We would definitely stay here again.

We were very happy with our stay at Jardins du Luxembourg. The room was small but well set up. Bed was comfortable and the bedding was attractive and well-kept. Towels were big and fluffy and the room was well-maintained. We were in the back of the hotel and it was so quiet it felt like we had the place to ourselves. It is a beautiful neighbourhood and particularly well located near the Luxembourg RER station and Luxembourg Gardens for picnics and walks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and cheerily made suggestions and reservations when asked. We would recommend this hotel to others.

Hotel is located in a quiet side street only yards from a Metro station that is served by airport(CDG)trains - very convenient, avoiding hauling luggage too far. We had a room at the front - it was bright, quiet and well maintained. No 3* hotel room is large in Paris but the room was adequate for our needs as short-term visitors. The bed was very comfortable and has real pillows! (For those not so familiar with French hotels, the norm is an anaemic bolster upholstered into the bottom sheet). The hotel is also close to at least three bus routes. Buses move quickly in Paris and are quite easy to understand - we recommend that you abandon your prejudices and use them, in the process seeing Paris rather than tunnel walls). Highlights of visit: trip out to Vernon and Giverny on train from St Lazare, and evening Segway tour (Fat Tire Bike Company).

We had a terrific stay. Would definately come back next time we are in Paris (hopefully soon). This is a quiet street only blocks away from the gardens and the bustle of the Latin Quarter.

Very pleasant hotel in great location in Latin Quarter close to great restaurants and the Luxembourg gardens. Bathrooms were very clean and modern and serviced well each day with clean towels, soap and shampoo. Beds were large with good quality sheets and bedding. Nicely stocked mini bar in the room with champagne. No tea and coffee making facilities which would have been a nice touch but you could order from room service. Better than I expected for the grade of the hotel. Would definitely return.

The hotel was nice, clean (!) and friendly. What I found very dissapointing was the size of the room, and the darkness. It was so small that we could not even lay down our suitcases and comfortably move around. We had to carefully avoid hitting the bed when going to the bathroom. For the price, I think the room was too small and had too little light (only one window that openend into a small courtyard. Our "view" were walls. Positive was the location. Good neighbourhood, near subway - station and Parc Luxembourg. Walking to Notre Dame was about 10 minutes, which is good as well. Same goed for Saint-Germain du pres neighboorhood, which has nice restaurants, shops and bars.

Samira on Reception and her colleagues were excellent and she gained immediate brownie points by arranginging a table at a delightful restaurant on New Years Eve. We knew the room would not be large from the comments by other reviewers - obviously other guests had read them too and there were no superior doubles left

Absolutly lovely. Very convenient location. Clean, friendly. The day concierge was most helpful, all staff were kind. Small sweet balcony from my room. Good breakfast. Will return in the spring and have recommended it to many others already.

My husband and I were originally booked into room 18, a very small room with room for only 1 suitcase. The air conditioning was not cooling the room sufficiently, so the first morning of our stay I brought it to the attention of the front desk and we were immediately moved into room 1 - an outdoor-entry room that was at least 4x as large and much cooler than room 18. We had a wonderful stay from that point on. Hotel is in a good location, very quiet. Not close to the Metro, at least a 5 block walk, but right next to the RER which goes to CDG airport. There is a McDonald's close for cheaper drinks and such, and a couple of quiet little pastry stands. All in all, I enjoyed the hotel but probably would not stay there again, due to the location. For those traveling on a budget, however, if you get a large room it is a good value.

We stayed at the Jardins du Luxembourg in March 2004. The hotel is located on a quiet impasse and our room had a view of a roof top garden on the dwelling across the street. It was too early for a splendid garden view but it was more pleasant than a wall of windows. The staff was courteous and helpful in every way. We were incompetent in French but they managed a solution for our every issue, tolerating our attempts at their language and easily shifting to ours when it was adviseable. The room was generous in size in my European experience but I am used to staying in less pricey places. It was perfectly clean, comfortably furnished, including a first class bed that kept us well rested for the entire week. The location in the Latin Quarter was adequate for our needs, a block away from the Metro and within walking distance of most of the premier Parisian sights for energetic folks.
