The hotel was clean and very pleasant, the staff was gentle. What was missing was something to make you a cup of tea, like kettle, glasses.

a little bit rough and ready, but OK. Our room was en suite. very pleasant guy at reception. Location good we like walking, 2.5K from Gare D Nord. Rue Chemin Vert, just up the road, was a handy link road to get to the river and else where.

They should clearly write that internet is not available in rooms, only at the reception and they close reception at night at 2 AM. This was misleading information. There was incredibly high noise in nights. This is very basic budget hotel. And rooms are on 1st and second floor without any lift! Stairs between each floor are so many as if you would feel you are climbing two floors to reach 1. Doesn't deserve more than €30 per room per night.

We were on a tight budget and didn't have high expectations of this hotel considering the price, but were very pleasantly surprised! The rooms had everything we needed, were bright and sunny and were cleaned everyday, including a new towel. We loved the area in the quirky north east of the city, great markets and cheap eats meant that we came in well under budget on this trip. The metro and buses were very handy to get to the city centre, we even walked on a couple of occations - a beautiful 45 min stroll to Norte Dame! The only draw back is the noisy street the hotel is on, the windows are double glazed but there is no air con so if you are staying in the hotter months you might be in for hot and/or noisy nights.

The picture on the website is not what we got. Rooms not sound proof. No fridge in room. Toilet and shower outside the room, one for around 20 rooms!! Very minimalistic room. wifi only in bar downstairs. stairs look very unsafe. fine if you just want somewhere to sleep. What is said on website is not what we got. Would not stay again.

The rooms were quite small, and extremely dirty and smelly. The carpets were disgusting. It almost spoilt our romantic weekend in paris. There was only one shower and one wc. for a whole plant of the hotel. The rooms were incredibly small.. almost no space left between the bed and the wall. Good things, they cleaned the rooms everyday, and the staff was quite nice and spoke English

Small rooms but not noisy. Not cheap, but Paris is expensive anyway. OK for staying a few days in Paris if you want to have it cheap, not good for longer trips

This accommodation is exactly what my husband and I wanted. It was great for the market outside the front door. Access to the Metro was excellent to get you around Paris but if you wanted to be closer to the city centre then this may not be what you require.

We wanted an economical and typical French family run hotel that was not in an English speaking tourist area, where we had easy access to both real French life and the standard tourist attractions. We would recommend eating at the the Aux Jeux De Pom restaurant a few doors down and must visit the Graveyard on Rue de Menilmontant.

The area is in an average neighborhood, however, there are many conveniences nearby; subway, groceries,Internet, phone, cafes, tobacco shop, fast food etc. The hotel is older and charming. The owners are really putting great effort in to fixing it up and they are extremely helpful and polite! The hotel was kept very clean, and it seemed we always came back to a staff that was busy cleaning and caring for the guests and it's surroundings. My mother and I had a wonderful stay in Paris at the Hotel for four days! The price was very fair and it is easy to navigate to various attractions in the city. Located near the metropolitan subway line 2...then take subway line 1 at "Nation" to all the major attractions! Around 25-30 minutes to the "Arc de Triuomph!" Once I reached my next destination, there were other travelers that I highly recommend the hotel to! Enjoy your stay~

Interesting arrondissement, but lots of noise. Decent cheap places to eat/drink nearby. Cimitière Père Lachaise is a great nearby attraction. Hotel staff are polite; room was cleaned every night. Only disappointment was the Wi-fi (advertised as "free internet access throughout"): could connect, but limited/no connectivity meant no internet access.

In general the hotel was good - the biggest problem was having one toilet and one shower for a floor with around 20 rooms (its possible that some of these rooms had toilets - but certainly there was a very low toilet:people ratio). Otherwise it was clean, friendly staff, great location with markets out front, grungy paris cafes/pubs within metres. Checkout the nearby cemetery with the graves of Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison

We stayed (me and partner) in a room with a bathroom, the room was spacious, with a good bed, a tidy bathroom (bath and shower), a few chairs and a fridge. The room's windows could be opend, so the room was very bright, but thanks to a shutter system the light and sounds could be blocked from the room, so at night the room was silent. Most rooms in the hotel do not have a bathroom, but the toilet and shower in the hallway were very clean. The hotel is very close to two metrostations.

this is a great hotel for traveling youth, if you are used to the Marriott, then don't stay here. the staff was very friendly, and assisted us in as many ways as they could. The hotel is in pairs, and great for the price, but don't expect anything fancy.

The high points of this hotel is location and staff. The people that work there are reeeeally friendly and kind, helping you in no matter what, no matter at what time. The bad thing about this place is the size of the bedrooms and the shower (really tiny!) and the noise on the hallway...you could listen every single step on the ground!

Great location if you want to stay in a non-tourist area. Lots of bars and restaurants, and only 300 m from the Metro. We rented bikes from the public Velo system (1 euro per day + free of charge if you change your bike within 30 minutes). Great!! we biked all the way to the Eiffel tower. I could not get the wifi in the hotel to work, but I was able to log on to another wireless network. The breakfast was not really worth it, but OK.

Myself and 3 friends all aged 21 LOVED this hotel. Was right next to a Metro so really easy to get into the centre of Paris. Even around the hotel there were many lovely restaurants and bars. The hotel itself was clean, the showers were always hot, and the prices in the hotel bar were unbelievably cheap, especially for Paris. On our last night the bar man even gave us all a free glass of wine! So nice would definitely go back. You won't get anything cheaper this good.

Very friendly staff, very clean, easy to find, close to metro station, multicultural neighborhood, good restaurants/caffes, bike friendly, close to fruit market. Room a bit small for a family of 4 to hang out but then who wants to hang out inside when there is so much to see in Paris? Allow yourself at least 1 hour to get here from the airport (CDG). Would come back again and would highly recommend it to all my friends.

The room is clean although quite compact. The location is very convenient and there are lots of place to eat around the area. The service is so so as I did not get my tower in the bathroom on my first day, and the plastic cup and soap, etc only provided on the last day during my stay. Anyway the price is reasonable for a barget hotel and you get what you paid for.

IT's very good for 55$ per days. But for me, if i visit the place before, i didn't go there. I prefere paying a little bit more and have a better room. The room was so little that we can't go to the toilette and dans sit right, we have to sit beside. When we ant to take a shower we didn't have enough towel, so we had to go down stair and ask for. But it was clean and it is ok for the price.

I was in Paris traveling with daughter for the second time and this was an amazing hotel for being 2 stars. Lugging suitcases up the narrow flight of stairs wasn't fun, but the hotel staff took one of the suitcases to help. The hotel room was small but clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were wonderful! We spoke with them in French (they spoke a little English) and they helped us with a train reservation as well.

quiet nice little hotel in calm quarter, 100m from the Metro station, surrounded by restaurants and various small shops. staff very nice and welcomming, helpful, speaks english. local people come here for breakfast or coffee, little chat with the staff. some days they have live music in the evening. very good chief in the restaurant. we were very satisfied, I recommend it and give my 5/5.

I was worried that the low cost of this hotel would mean that the neighborhood was sketchy or the hotel incredibly basic. Instead we found a modest hotel on a busy but safe street with very friendly owners/employees. The room was small but very clean with an updated bathroom. The downstairs bar/restaurant was very charming with congenial, English speaking staff. Wifi did not work in the rooms but bar was open and welcomed Wifi only hotel patrons. Wifi worked great there. I'd stay here again if i returned to Paris. Wonderful experience and for such a reasonable price.

This friendly hotel, off the beaten path but near Pere Lachaise, is on a cute, bustling little street in a multi-cultural neighborhood. Very good cafes and grocery stores on the street, and on Tuesdays, a great farmer's market right outside the hotel with fantastic veggies and gourmet fish and meats! The staff was very nice and conversational. The coffee in the cafe on the first floor is excellent and the staff gave me trays to take it up to the room. I didn't get a chance to eat there. Wet bar is stocked with beer, water and soda, with room to put your own bevs in (a refrigerator like this can be hard to come by in a budget hotel in Paris). I loved the big windows and very tall ceilings in our particular room. Don't miss the walk down Rue Oberkampf just around the corner; it is a charming street with lots of food and clothes shopping and cozy little bars that are busy with locals and music on weekends. There is an excellent cafe on the corner near the hotel called Bistro or Cafe Menilmontant. Les Chansonniers is a great place to stay; I was grateful for it. Bike rentals relatively close by (and Velibs right outside), and the Menilmontant metro stop is less than a block from the hotel door. Simple bed with clean linens. Nice curtains. Edith Piaf Museum also nearby (by appointment). Park bikes in the street median, not the sidewalk where the hotel is (busy with deliveries). Note: US credit cards do not work in the Velib machines (Oct 2007). Get a pre-paid credit card valid for the bike deposit and travel fees at a French bank; see if that works.

We arrived to find they only expected to give us one room instead of the pre-booked two. Then a second room was 'found' but without the pre-booked shower, after much huffing and puffing they found another room, which turned out to have a double bed when a twin was booked - on complaining again, I was told I could go and find another hotel!!! I asked to see the manager - he 'wasn't working' - I insisted the girl at least phone him - I got the famous 'continental shrug' from her and a 'what do you want me to do? I have no rooms. Only when I continued to remonstrate with her and show her the booking form that had been confirmed some FIVE MONTHS earlier, did one of her colleagues agree to sort something out, which consisted of moving the double bed out and two single beds into the room previously show to us. There was no apology, no effort to get things sorted. When the manager turned up 2 days later he just asked who we'd booked with and tutted when I showed him my reservation. The rooms were very small, so much so that one of us had to sit on the bed to enable the other one to move around. We didn't try and food or drinks - after that reception I wouldn't give them a penny more of buisness. Instead we had breakfast at a lovely cafe across the road where the contrast in service couldn't have been better - it was the saving grace of our stay!!

My worst experience in Paris ever. There's a "lady" in the staff (try to not check-out with her) that couldn't be more unmannered and careless. Almost one whole day without hot water and room heating (I stayed only 2!), staff enters the room while you're in... etc, etc, etc. I thought of asking for a partial refund, but I'd better forget about it. It would be OK for less money. But my single en-suite didn't worth 59€ per night! Please avoid this hotel! You can find cheaper and better ones, and in a better location, closer to the center.

Ideal location with several handy stores and a supermarket nearby (very reasonable Muscadet €1.80 per bottle) as well as a wide array of competitively priced restaurants, cafes and brasseries. The location, character and atmosphere of the hotel would definitely encourage me to stay here again.

This is a somewhat strange hotel being as the public area is really 'public' being a cafe/bar for anyone coming in off the street to use. Nothing actually wrong with this as it does have a certain character but there did not seem to be a private public area either which some might find irritating. One point bearing in mind is that people in the cafe smoke. My main disappointments were: 1) I could not look my room door from the inside and apparently the cleaners could not lock it from the outside as I came back one day and found the door open. 2) The shower head was broken and therefore spurted water all over the bathroom 3) The main receptionist was not particularly friendly and once was quite rude even for a French person. What made this worse was that as soon as one of his acquaintances came in off the street he was very friendly

At first, my friend and I were a bit skeptical about the district as it is quite multi-cultural. Our concern primarily was for our safety since it was just us girls travelling. As it turned out, it added charm to our stay there. People were just friendly (and we don't speak French at all!). The shower is small (we have our own in the room) but it is as expected in a budget accommodation. The employees are really friendly and were nice even if we had to check out at an ungodly hour. If you are a light traveller, then you won't have a problem going up the stairs. Otherwise, it may be a challenge.

One week french course, and wanted hotel close to the school, which it was. Simple but ok. I stayed in single room, bathroom small, and little warderobe facilities, but corresponding to price. Did not like to have breakfast where people from the street came to the bar and were smoking in the same room as breakfast was served. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location for my school.

Good location, right near metro in a fun neighborhood, lots of good reasonable food around, nice street. Room window overlooked side alley, so pretty quiet. On arrival, though, they had us booked for one double instead of two twin beds, but were able to get that sorted out. Room only had towels for one and, despite the overall impression of cleanliness in the room, there were some bugs in the bathroom.

Quiet, quaint hotel in a good location. Good value for the money. However, our room was not completely clean- a few bugs (one IN the sheets), stained bedding, "well used" comforter, and dirty carpet. TINY bathroom, and after my shower, there wasn't enough hot water for my boyfriend's. The fridge was well stocked with beer and soda (2 euros each), and the breakfast in the morning looked lovely (but we ate at a cafe instead). We only stayed one night, and slept pretty well, but probably would have switched hotels if we had planned to stay another night. For the price, the hotel is not bad, but you could certainly do better!
