Overall very good value and super friendly service in an amazing location if you can live with somewhat gaudy interior design and occasional faint stench from the bathroom

Construction noise started very early morning. Manager eventually gave us a reduced rate for that night. We found an apartment rental agency specializing in vacation rentals and had a much better time.

We selected this hotel on the basis of the price being higher than other hotels nearby and thus we expected a superior quality of stay. There is nothing wrong with the hotel as such, it is just massively overpriced for what it is. Hotels nearby were offering equivalent rooms for €80-100 compared with €140 (we checked and considered moving) but they were "proper" French hotels with elegant receptions rooms, etc. The Relais du Marais is little more than a dormatory with small rooms squeezed into a narrow characterless building. It was unfortunate that the reception area was being retiled when we arrived and the hotel appeared shut at 8:00 p.m. with confusing hand-written notes indicating a side entrance. The room on the 6th floor was small, clean and comfortable but smelled sewery. The bathroom was difficult to use without water going everwhere. The TV only offered one French TV channel and a very poor selection of about seven channels from other countries. It was also very noisy with traffic and street noise very apparent. Breakfast we passed on as it was self-service and the coffee had been standing for some time - why pay €10 for that when fresh coffee and freshly-squeezed orange juice is available a few doors away served at you table for €8? All in all very disappointing and poor value for money. Had we been booked for more than two nights we would have changed hotels - that says it all. Not recommended.

The rooms at Relais Marais were welcoming, clean and friendly, making excellent use of the relatively small spaces available in this inner urban location. The staff were warm in a way few tourists seem to expect from Parisians, and the decorative feel of the rooms and breakfast room had a cheerful aura in the very co;ld and snowy weather of our stay in Paris.

Hotel is clean and ok. Located at the edge of the Marais. I choose this hotel for the location but also for the wireless internet but it didn't work. The rooms was small as expected, but clean. The bathroom has a matt glas sliding door which is weird and don't give you much privacy. I didn't try the breakfast. Staff was friendly

Great location - very close to three metro stations and a good distance from the Louvre/Tuileries for morning runs. Monoprix on an adjacent street (great for picking up essentials).

Excellent value for money!Very friendly staff! Location is very practical. Metro Station Temple is just outside the hotel (80 metres away or so), Metro Station Place de la Republique is 2 minutes away. Breakfast is also very good.

The hotel was very welcoming. The staff was very friendly and generally helpful. The room and bathroom were smaller than the website photos indicated but clean. The bed was firm and very comfortable and the shower, though tiny, was excellent. The cafe was hard to navigate and the food mediocre; we used it only the morning after our late-night arrival. Otherwise, we ate breakfast at the excellent cafes in the neighborhood. The hotel was convenient to walking, cafes, some excellent restaurants and all transportation, being near 3 metro stops. It served as a base for a wonderful trip to Paris. Directions from CDG were spot-on.

Lovely room, albeit a bit small, but very quiet and in a good location. Walking distance to all major attractions and close to train stations. Service was very good considering we arrived after midnite. Would definitely stay again.

Room was very small, probably about 150% the size of the bed - there was a closet to put away a suitcase and hang some clothes. Flat-panel tv with CNN, and other non-english channels. Bedspread a bit tired. Only real problem was the upstairs shower leaked into the bathroom and actually made it impossible to take a shower when someone was showering upstairs. Hopefully I just had a bad room. The hotel staff was very friendly. The hotel is a 20 minute walk - if you walk fast - to Notre Dame Cathedral. Temple metro stop is right nearby, but we found it simpler to just walk to Les Halles / Louvre / Marais.

Rooms a little small but quite adequate for a short stay. Excellent position for le Marais area. Good breakfast and pleasant breakfast room, but little else in way of public rooms. Just what we needed for a short break.

The hotel is rated 2-star+ and is better than similar rated hotels in the area. The rooms are modern and the space is good for Paris hotels. I stayed twice in a single and a double room which both faced the street. The street noise is present with the doors/windows open and the windows significantly quiet the street noise when closed. The rooms have AC. The bathroom door is a beautiful fogged glass which doesn't provide absolute privacy. The location is walking distance from the Metro subway lines, restaurants, museums, and the Paris gay district. I highly recommend this hotel and the price is good. I look forward to staying again.

My sister and myself spent a wonderful weekend here on 20th June - the staff were great and very helpful- the breakfast was well worth paying for - the room was small but served our needs. In fairness you can hear everything from the adjoining rooms but I cant say it really troubled us too much. Location wise it's perfect for touring around. All in all it was great and I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

The desk staff was very helpful and welcoming. The rooms were clean. The see through doors on the bathroom/ toilet are hideous. The breakfast was good, the person working there was pretty rude and the decor retro spaceship was diorientating and rather ridiculous....

Service was good and staff were friendly. However, the rooms are extremely noisy, especially if the neighbouring rooms turn on their televisions (at 02:00 a.m.!!). I guess we were unlucky as the two nights we spend in the hotel, some sort of alarm in the courtyard behind the hotel, went of every 1 or 2 hours. This might not be a structural problem but it did lower the comfort level of the hotel.

Good little hotel being refurbished. Chic breakfast room, otherwise comfortable except the airconditioning was not working in our room. Surprising old staircase in a modern looking building

We stayed 3 nights at the Relais de Marais (we had booked only 2, but our overnight train was full and they were very accommodating in extending our stay an extra night). We were in Paris in July and the air conditioning was definititely welcomed after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is located right near the Temple subway station..very convenient! It was also a short walk to Notre Dame (5-10 minutes). Very nice neighbourhood with bakeries and small restaurants all along the streets. We treated ourselves and stayed our final night in europe in what was supposed to be a "nice , 4-star hotel" on the champs-elysee, but i wished we had stayed here. Friendly, young staff, good location, breakfast in the morning, quiet rooms. highly reccommended!! Only complaint was that there was no shower curtain, so the bathroom got a bit wet when you had a shower, but there were plenty of towels to dry that up!

it's a nice and clean hotel. but the room is really toooooooo tiny. anyway, I think most of the hotels in Europe are like this. the breakfast is just ok, not so many choice. price is sort of a little bit higher than others (I mean the same standard of hotels). Service is excellent, people are very friendly and nice to guests... I think this is the most important thing.

In its category, a good choice. Good location near Place de la Republique, the staff was very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay. Rooms are small by American standards and the air cond. wasn't very powerful but better than none that most 2* seem to lack in Paris. Very clean and nicely renovated.

Plus: Great location, close to 3 metro stations. Air condition in the room was a HUGE plus as we stayed there a very warm week in August. Wireless internet (we didn't try it but still...) Friendly staff. Minus: The breakfast seemed too expensive for what was offered so we didn't try it. The ants on the table and in the bed. The maid didn't respect the "do not disturb" sign. The room was VERY small.

I found this to be a lovely hotel with welcoming staff. The location was superb, within walking distance of Notre Dame etc but also excellently served by nearby metro stations. The staff were friendly and helpful and our request for a room on an upper floor was fulfilled. We could even see the eiffel tower.

A very pleasant hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Very much 2 star and although I only saw it from outside there is a 2 star hotel more or less next door which looked a little more luxurious.
