The whole team were very helpful and obliging, offering advice, checking out websites for availability, suggesting eateries, chilling our wine for us and more. The hotel is perfect for a no-frills Paris break....why pay more? Save your money for food and wine! The rooms are very adequate and the power showers particularly good!!

Very nice Hotel! 2 star holtels in Paris should learn with this hotel. The breakfast and the room are VERY GOOD! If you are looking for a 2 star hotel go to this one! The only thing I did not like was that the caretaker asked me to relocate three times for it to clean the living room. If he wanted to serve well, once would have been enough. But it was the only problem.

Not that bad, but wasn't exactly cheap either. Most annoying were cleaners coming in at any hour: 09:30 am on a Sunday! Or 04:00 pm on a weekday. Also, noisy bar nearby, must be difficult in summer (no air-con). Front-desk people very nice.

I liked the hotel! The rooms were quite small and the furnishing wasn't very special, but our room was very clean and we got a double bed which was very comfortable. But as the rooms have thin walls it was a little bit noisy (but not disturbing). The stuff, which was very multilingual, was very nice and gave us lots of informations. It is also great that the metro is nearby. i had a great stay in paris!

We came to Paris to enjoy the beauty and especially the art and the wonderful atmosphere of its different quarters. The "International hotel" is situated very good in order to do as much as possible by foot. The overall impression is good, but in the features mentioned in the specs of the hotel a parking facility was included, when in fact the hotel has non such and we had to pay another 44 Euro for parking the car in a privat parking place. Unlike this inconvinience, we liked our stay very much and hope to return in future.

The pros: Located one block from a Metro station. Staff was very friendly and helpful and we found the rooms to be quite spacious for Paris. The cons: Our room was right next to the elevator which was making a crazy noise every time someone used it. We slept with ear plugs and still found a good night's sleep a challenge. Tried to switch to another room, but the hotel was full. The staff did say they were going to get the elevator checked, but I would request a room far away from the elevator just in case. Also, the hotel is located on a tiny street and was quite hard to initially locate. I would ask for SPECIFIC walking directions before my trip. And lastly, when you leave the hotel, there is a main street to take or a little short cut through a small, little used street. Use the big street. The alley, while we were there at least, was urine central. Ew! I would call this neighborhood "up and coming." Not sure that I would stay again, although the staff was really really nice.

The personal is very kind and available. The room was always very clean and quiet. The position of the hotel is strategic, very close to the metro station, to the centre of the town and to the popular and famous Belleville quarter (described by Daniel Pennac in several of his novels). Enjoy!

The double room was very small. Walls are very thin such that you can hear the noise of other rooms and the couridor. The room was clean but the cleanning substance they use in the toliets smells disgusting. The hotel is close to metro station which was convenient to travel in the city centre.

United Kingdom, Aug 2009
Was first stay there. Went in Aug so other travellers were mostly young group of - italians - friends. Have tried 2 or 3 others hotels in Paris and this one was amongs the nicest. Room was very clean and neutrally decorated. Felt a bit small but it's usual in Parisian hotels. Quality vs. price we very good. We paid on average 60 euros a night in Aug (which is the main month for tourists). Had only booked 2 weeks ahead so good rate. Staff was nice and helpful, advised nice local cafes and restaurants. Breakfast at the hotel can be reserved the day before and costs 7.50 euros which was 50 cents cheaper than most of the surroundings cafes and you can eat as much as you want. We found it was the best deal after trying one of these surrounding cafes. There's a lift in the hotel which few Parisian hotels have (handy for heavy luggages). Only down point albeit a detail, ironing facilities are poor (tiny - I mean tiny!- ironboard and very basic iron) but it did an ok job nevertheless. I'd go back to this hotel as it was a good bargain and good location.

Second time we have stayed here. Rooms are small but serviceable and pretty clean and quite reasonable for the price. Location is convenient for the metro and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from if you walk 5 mins from the hotel in the right direction.

I was really happy to have such a clean and welcoming hotel in a decent area for the price. The room, fixtures, and bath are very basic with zero frills but everything was clean. Our room had a large window that opened out into a courtyard of sorts and this help to keep the noise down and the room cool. (There is a lift, too if you're like me and always have a heavy bag) The hotel is a very short walk from the metro, located near a great corner store, and a divey-but-hip bar. I would stay here again. FYI--we were only there for one night, so we didn't have a chance to explore the area or hotel common areas fully.

Personale disponibile.

Very out of the way place in a rather 'sleazy' area of Paris. Reasonably accessable to the metro but not much else. Staff, whilst helpful, were different every time we came or went for our 4 day stay. Lift was barely big enough for a person let alone a suitcase.

Veramente un hotel carino e molto economico. Ideale per fare un we lungo a Parigi. Personale molto accogliente e hotel PULITO.

The positive points of this hotel are : 1) its location, just a few minutes away from the trendy Marais and from underground stations 2) the cleanliness of the rooms 3) its good relationship between price/quality (you get what you've paid for : since the price is not very high for a hotel in the centre of Paris don't expect anything in terms of design and spaciousness). That makes me come to the negative points : 1) our room was rather small with a tiny space for luggage and clothing, and not renovated, with rather old and ugly desk and chairs. The bathroom was old-fashioned too and needed some repainting. 2) Of course one hears when someone next door or next floor uses the shower or the wc, as it is often the case in small hotels like this. Although the hotel had double-glass windows, we had to sleep with open windows because of the heat (no air-con). The street was rather quiet indeed, except for one night, when a private party in the opposite building made us ask at 2.00 a.m. the reception staff to call the police... they said they did, and indeed the noise stopped afterwards. But they could have done it before.

The Hotel was very nice, next to Gouncourt subway station. Near the Hotel there are Boulangery and mini shop. The room was a bit small e there wasn't a wardrobe. We found that this hotel was exactly as the Venere site reviews indicated, so we were not surprised to find that it was not in a very desirable neighborhood. The staff was great. The breakfast was good and adequate. The bed was hard as a rock. Nothing to see in the area and not really comfortable to walk around in, but the metro was close.

This was a nice hotel. We had the room with the ensuite bathroom, which was extremely clean with a very nice shower. The room itself was very small, with barely enough room for our backpacks, but it was ok. There was a fair bit of noise when other guests entered and left their rooms, since the rooms are so close to each other. The location was good, close to 2 metro stations. When we arrived at 2:15pm, they wouldn't let us into our room to change clothes (check-in was 3pm) but they let us leave our backpacks behind the desk. In general, it was a good experience for the price we paid, although there were a couple negative points (noise, size of the room).

This hotel was perfect -- as described, as priced, as expected. Our accommodations were impeccably clean, and -- yes -- not spacious, but that was predicted. the hotel room was very basic, no wardrobe not even a single drawer. Our room was next to the lift, quite a deep noise. hopefully no noise comes from the street. The toilet had no shampoo, only one piece of soap for each guest (in two days). The shower hose is for dwarfs only. Pipes in the walls make a metallic tick-tick (day and night) every time a guest in the same column on a different floor opens the tap. Staff is really friendly and the hotel is very conveninent for the metro.

Stayed in many Paris hotels, this offers one of the best value for money deals. I did not had any meal at the hotel, but the surroundings are full of small restaurants of all types, where you can eat. The rooms are small and not very quiet, as you can hear the conversations from the rooms next to you, but that didn't bother me to much, as I was visiting the town all day long, and came back at the hotel late in the evening. What is really bothering is the fact that the hotel has no smoking rooms at all, as the French legislation aplying at this moment does not permit this. I had to smoke in the front of the hotel and that wasn't very nice.

we had a lovely, lovely stay here. the room was on a top floor hence flooded with sun, and more spacious than we had expected.(almost 2 separate sleeping quarters for 3 people.) I traveled to Paris for the half marathon in March 09 and was looking for a nice budget hotel to stay in, which was on the right side of the city for the race. The International fitted the bill perfectly, as it turned out! The staff were always friendly and spoke very good English. There were some nice places to eat and drink near the hotel and it was also in a good spot on the metro line for accessing the more central attractions in Paris. Rooms have comfy beds and the bathroom facilities are also good/clean. Also worthwhile getting the breakfast as it is good value for money. One other thing I should mention is that, as a young female traveler, the hotel and the area it was in felt safe.

We stayed in room 14, which was quiet, very comfy bed, sparkling bathroom, in a great area but which had a very stained area of carpet that I didn't fancy putting my bare feet on. If they change, or at least clean, the carpet, I really don't think you'll find as good, let alone better, for that price. We paid, with the rubbish exchange rate, £54 a night, and would definitely go back, but maybe check the carpet when booking?! PS the local bar is half the price of the ones in the centre, and very friendly too.

Coffee machine in foyer was excellent. Overall a nice stay with good staff and good facilities. The only draw back was the area around the hotel, it was a little dirty and smelly, but c'est la vie, we still had a great holiday in Paris and this hotel helped us enjoy our stay. Lift is tiny, three bags and one person and it is full. Our room was next to the lift and it was a little noise at night so getting a room away from the lift could be helpful.

Hotel clean, bed comfortable, staff friendly, area interesting and safe (Goncourt and Parmentier stations being very close)- the only issue at all is that the rooms ARE small. Good for a short stay but would be harder to cope with for more than a week. We had a double room - I looked in on a twin on another floor which seemed a bit bigger, so unless you are so loved up you can't bear to be more than 2 inches apart at any time go for the twin. But at to cost v. size -c'mon, this IS Paris!

Paris is very special for us and we travel there often. The slightest excuse will become cause to take a few days off and spend time in romantic bliss. We generally stay at small two star hotels that capture a neighborhood ambience. We are in Paris to experience Paris, not a cocooned luxury suite. Hotel International exceeded our expectations. Our room was small, yet bright and sunny, clean, with very comfortable firm bed and unusually high quality pillows (a sorely lacking item in many two star hotels. The TV didn't work, but hey if you are in Paris to watch TV, maybe you should be somewhere else. The Hotel was well located on a quiet side street with a wonderful neighborhood bistro directly across the street, and minutes away by foot from the ultra hip Oberkampf district. Actually the location couldn't have been better. The entire 11e Arr. (Republique, Oberkampf, Bastille) was in walking distance. This district is uber kool, what the Latin quarter was 40 years ago during student uprisings before corporate homogenization from the likes of Starbucks and MacDonalds.

The room was very little, but well clean, with new towels every day. Two main problems: the elevator is very noisy, and you can hear it wherever in the hotel; the other problem is that you cannot set the temperature of heating and it was too hot and dry for me to sleep well. The good point is that the hotel is in very good location, with a Metro Station at 2 minutes and 5 Metro lines at 10 minutes by feet. Affordable breakfast at 7.5 euro per person. A good choise if you like over-heated rooms during winter (I don't)

This hotel is best for those vacations where you spend as little time in the room as possible! The rooms are clean and the towels are changed every day if you require. However, the rooms are cramped and just as cold as the rest of Paris if you visit the town in the winter. You will also hear absolutely everything that's going on in the corridors and the neighbouring rooms. The hotel offers nescafe from a vending machine in the reception, but you have to pay €1 per cup.

The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was clean but the room was small - just enough room to manoeuvre round the bed. The bathroom was simple, clean, with plenty of hot water but it did pong of drains. The hotel is located in a studenty area, relaxed an friendly enough. There are plenty of bars, cafe's and restaurants within a few minutes walk - the Blue Man and L'Autre Cafe are very good.

We were surprised to find such a good quality hotel for that price in a calm side-street. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and we can recommend it absolutely.

It was kind of hard to fall asleep there because the bed linen smelled like mould. And they didn't change it - even after the second desperate request (it was a 3 nights stay). The building facade seems to be on the point of collapse - that's why its picture is blurred.

stayed with my boyfriend in this hotel for 5 nights, such a cool lil neighbourhood with local cafe/bar right across street from hotel, you should visit it the food is good and nice vibe. hotel staff were lovely and friendly and room was good size, very minimal but comfy. loved the area as you felt like you were living like a local and was easy to get around and walk to pompidou in 20 mins, would definitely stay again

The hotel located quite near to the metro station so it was convenient for travellers to go for sightseeing. The room was not big but the bathroom was spacious and very clean. The employees were very nice and helpful. The only deficiency I noted was the lift which was extremely small and noisy. However, since the hotel was in promotion during my stay, the hotel had a quite high quality compared to the price. I strongly recommend the hotel to travellers if it provides good price.

Friendly hotel with pleasant and helpful staff and easy access to central Paris - nearest Metro station about 3 minutes walk away. Room was small but this is only to be expected in a Paris 2-star. Bed was comfortable and hotel reasonably quiet, in a side street; there was some noise from a nearby bar but this did not go on that late.

All in all the hotel is quite pleasant, especially if you compare your location and the price. Really close to everything. 2 Negatives though: - Bathroom was really small and cramped, minute actually. - Breakfast was rubbish(especially when they charge 7.50 for it and then use the cheapest quality food too). Seriously, you are better off going to a cafe or supermarket down the road. Metro is very close to hotel, very convenient.

Siamo stati all'International 5 notti in agosto 2008. 53 euro a notte: rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo davvero.

We got off at Republic metro station (as was suggested on the website), but no one seemed to know where the hotel was. Just go down Rue du Faubourg du Temple and turn right at Parmentier Ave. and rue Auguste Barbier is a few blocks down on the right. The room was clean and spacious enough by Paris standards. There was no air conditioning, but it was not hot, even though we were there in July. We left the huge windows (which opened up onto a roof) open at night. We weren't sure how safe this was. The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. We found the location to be good. It was a good walk to the left bank, but we were also near a few metro lines so it was convenient. At the Palace of Versailles, we had to wait in line for 1 hour. If you can buy your ticket ahead somewhere in Paris, do so to avoid the lineup. If you like art and architecture, the Musee D'orsay is wonderful.
