We stayed here for two nights and had a great experience. This is s small hotel without many frills but the room was recently renovated and was very clean and comfortable. This is a great place to stay if you don't plan on being in the room a lot as it was small. Staff spoke English and was very helpful - free wifi was a nice touch though you have to pay for breakfast at checkout. Hotel is 2min walk from #11 metro line so it is off the beaten tourist path but still easy to get around the city. Check out the bar down the block and the Moraccan restaurant around the corner for the "real" Parisian experience.

The hotel was quite good despite the rooms being quite cramped. The reception desk was very helpful and provided us with good information. The area was close to the metro and relatively easy to get to. You could only get wifi from the ground level though.

Do not waste your time or money at Hotel International. The room was dirty but the bed linens were clean. There is construction going on in the same building just next door, and hammering and pounding went on until 11 one night. Noise was a huge problem as you could hear people clomping up and down the center hallways, as well as door slamming. It is not 150m from Republique........ it is a hike! Definitely would not recommend this place. It is not a good value and the night staff are incredibly rude.

Very poor hotel... good only if you don't have any other alternative... There is no relation between price and quality. Staff made everything wrong...they finally finished fighting between them because of their mistakes. I would never go again.

Very next to a metro station and to a minimarket. in 15 minutes you arrive to the city centre. perfect for cheap stay. don't expect too much from the bedroom (clean but very small and you can hear your neighbours VERY WELL) e from the staff (only 1 out of four kind and helpful).

The hotel met our needs - a relatively inexpensive place near Place de la Republique where we could sleep and get breakfast. It was better than some 2 stars I have stayed at in Paris. Rue August Barbier is a quiet road but the bar on the corner was very noisy on Saturday night till about 4 a.m. Hotel staff were really helpful and friendly. Housekeeping was very good. Anything extra we needed (pillows, stuck plug) was there when we needed it. Breakfast was adequate and service on the first day was excellent. On other days we had to wait for cups, bowls etc. Local restaurants good food and value for money.

I stayed at the hotel from January 5th for 5 days. The location is very good as it's on the small quiet street and there is a food store, mobile shop and different cafes on the parallel street right at the corner. During my stay there was much noise from 8.45 in the morning as there were reconstruction works being done. I think they are over now. The single room had enough space. The only problem was that the sink flowed and i had to put the towel on the floor every time i had to use it. The personnel at the reception was very friendly and helpful with all places/ addresses etc. The metro station is also right down the street only 3-4 minutes walk. I would stay in this hotel again once i am back in Paris.

Travelling within one week to Madrid, Paris, Munich and Berlin, the Paris hotel was by far the most expensive and most lacking in facilities. Twice the price of Madrid, more than Munich and Berlin and singularly lacking in the basics. The worst value for money, Typical of Paris on a budget I'm afraid.

The location was excellent being close to cafes and restaurants and, importantly, to two Metro stations on different lines. The breakfast was adequate but we preferred to eat at local cafes where excellent omelettes were available. The hotel is undergoing major renovations including the breakfast room and other public areas since the new owners took possession in September 2010. Bedrooms renovations will be undertaken shortly. Our room was updated recently and comfortable with a modern large shower. We would certainly return.

New owners as of 1 October. Very friendly and helpful staff, fluent in several languages. Older property needing some paint and maintenance which was being done. Good value, but would have like a bit more space for two people. Close to Metro and many shops and cafes. Would not recommend for Americans first trip abroad, but fine for those who know what to expect for the money.

Hotel International was a good bargain for the price. The staff were friendly and helpful (particularly with giving directions),my room was clean and maintained daily, and the location was good(2 Metro stations nearby- short ride to Notre Dame, Louvre Museum, etc.). The room and shower were small, but that is to be expected in most of Europe. I would stay at Hotel International again.

First of all: It's a 2-star-hotel (rated in 2002), so some things are used and should be fixed. One of our romms was quite small. But I don*t go to Paris to spend much time in the hotek, so we didn't care a lot. Staff is ery helpful, i liked the surrounding, the metro is close to the hotel. Prices are very ok, I would go there again.

As a mom travelling with my teenage daughter on a limited budget, this hotel is darn good value for the (Canadian) dollar. We stayed here for five nights. The rooms, as expected in these lovely 19th century buildings, are very small, but clean and bright. Staff was always very pleasant, efficient and helpful. All speak English fluently(bonus!). Our beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size. Breakfast, a bargain at 7 euros pp, included a generous assortment of melt-in-your-mouth croissants, baguettes, buns, with toppings like cheeses, jam, nutella, etc.), delicious baked goods on the sweeter side, yogourts, fruit, fresh orange juice and good coffee. A great start to the day. Rooms are generally quiet. Just avoid the ones facing the front since there is a bar a few doors down on the corner which can sometimes get loud at night, especially on the weekend. We started in one of these rooms and next day asked to switch to quieter one, which was quickly taken care of. The area is generally safe; came across a some pretty drunk young people late (midnight) Saturday but we weren't hassled. Convenient location: the Metro (subway), internet service and groceries all within two blocks. The hotel is far enough away from the tourist craziness, but close enough to get there by Metro within minutes.

The hotel was an excellent value. Centrally located in the 11th district within walking distance to two metro lines, Hotel International was a gem. The hotel is located in a safe neighbourhood, was cleam and was centrally located with many cafes, bistros, convenience stores and bakeries and a laundromat all within 5 minutes walking distance. While the room was small and the furnishings a bit dated, it was very clean and maintained daily. Recommended for a budget conscious traveller requiring basic lodgings in a central, safe location!

Very nice hotel with a very convenient location, just meters away from a metro line taking you to some of the major cites of Paris. I have been to Paris a couple of times the last year, each time staying at different hotels, and this is in my opinion the best one in this price category. The neighbourhood is very quiet, so no problem sleeping at night, even with the window facing the street open. We had two separate rooms on different floors, the one beeing at the top floor were newly renovated in nice light colors the other one a bit run down and in need of a renovation (was going on in the hotel as we stayed there). We didn't try the breakfast, as we find it cosier to dine at a parisien style coffee shop than to eat in a basement hotel breakfast room.

We arrived in the morning and could leave our luggage in the hotel, which was very comfortable for us. Our rooms were clean and ok. You couldn't open the window in the bathroom and there was no possibility to hang your wet towel somewhere. As well there was just a little soap. So you have to bring everything else you need, as well a hairdryer. The breakfast was served in a small room. You receive a lot of sweet things (cake, etc.), a very good fruit salad, but only one salty choice ( a piece of camembert). Nevertheless it was good to eat something, before walking the whole day in Paris. I would come back for a second time. Thanks to the staff!

Nice hotel in an interesting area. Close to the Goncourt Metro station (Line 11). Hotel was a little hard to find as it's located on a small street off the beaten path. Comfortable though smallish room, clean but could stand some new carpet. Overall good value for the rate although nothing special. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Pretty good breakfast compared to some others.

Room was clean and nice but a bit small. Good hot water head in the shower (it's often a gap in many hotels). Staff is friendly and compitent, speaking very good english. We liked the location as well. It was quite but very close to the metro, supermarket and many places where you could get a croissant in the morning and drink in the evening :-) As for minuses they don't have workstation with internet and the lobby is very small so we couldn't see any other people there during 4 days. We would recommend this hotel for sure. But next time will try to find more funny place :-)

Excellent choice if you can find the rate given in Venere-if you get the official price given by the hotel (80-90 euros) you can find better hotels. But at the price of 45-50 euros this is unbeatable! Cleanest. Location very good uf you are a walker-if not Republique is at 200 meters, and asmaller metro station just a few steps from the hotel. SOme of the personnel are very polite and helpful. I recommend it provided you find it at a price not more than 60 euros per night for a single room

We spent 3 night in this hotel. The receptionist are very kind and welcoming and ready to address any problem. The hotel is in a very old building which would need some renovation. Our room needed certainly some work to fix the paper wall and windows. What spoiled our stay was the noise as we could hear anything going on in the other room. I think this is a structural problem of the building. So a lot depends also on the degree of civilization of your neighbours. I our case we were awaken in the middle of the night by a bunch of people from the italian (Rome region judging from the accent). The cheap rates make this hotel very attractive. You should consider it if you don't mind the above-mentioned problems. Otherwise spend 10 euro/day more and look for something else.

Very nice Hotel! 2 star holtels in Paris should learn with this hotel. The breakfast and the room are VERY GOOD! If you are looking for a 2 star hotel go to this one! The only thing I did not like was that the caretaker asked me to relocate three times for it to clean the living room. If he wanted to serve well, once would have been enough. But it was the only problem.

Not that bad, but wasn't exactly cheap either. Most annoying were cleaners coming in at any hour: 09:30 am on a Sunday! Or 04:00 pm on a weekday. Also, noisy bar nearby, must be difficult in summer (no air-con). Front-desk people very nice.

I liked the hotel! The rooms were quite small and the furnishing wasn't very special, but our room was very clean and we got a double bed which was very comfortable. We came to Paris to enjoy the beauty and especially the art and the wonderful atmosphere of its different quarters. The "International hotel" is situated very good in order to do as much as possible by foot. The overall impression is good, but in the features mentioned in the specs of the hotel a parking facility was included, when in fact the hotel has non such and we had to pay another 44 Euro for parking the car in a privat parking place. Unlike this inconvinience, we liked our stay very much and hope to return in future.

The pros: Located one block from a Metro station. Staff was very friendly and helpful and we found the rooms to be quite spacious for Paris. The cons: Our room was right next to the elevator which was making a crazy noise every time someone used it. We slept with ear plugs and still found a good night's sleep a challenge. Tried to switch to another room, but the hotel was full. The staff did say they were going to get the elevator checked, but I would request a room far away from the elevator just in case. Also, the hotel is located on a tiny street and was quite hard to initially locate. I would ask for SPECIFIC walking directions before my trip. And lastly, when you leave the hotel, there is a main street to take or a little short cut through a small, little used street. Use the big street. The alley, while we were there at least, was urine central. Ew! I would call this neighborhood "up and coming." Not sure that I would stay again, although the staff was really really nice.

Was first stay there. Went in Aug so other travellers were mostly young group of - italians - friends. Have tried 2 or 3 others hotels in Paris and this one was amongs the nicest. Room was very clean and neutrally decorated. Felt a bit small but it's usual in Parisian hotels. Quality vs. price we very good. We paid on average 60 euros a night in Aug (which is the main month for tourists). Had only booked 2 weeks ahead so good rate. Staff was nice and helpful, advised nice local cafes and restaurants. Breakfast at the hotel can be reserved the day before and costs 7.50 euros which was 50 cents cheaper than most of the surroundings cafes and you can eat as much as you want. We found it was the best deal after trying one of these surrounding cafes. There's a lift in the hotel which few Parisian hotels have (handy for heavy luggages). Only down point albeit a detail, ironing facilities are poor (tiny - I mean tiny!- ironboard and very basic iron) but it did an ok job nevertheless. I'd go back to this hotel as it was a good bargain and good location.

With the price of euro 60/per night in Paris, and close the to metro, it is worthwhile alghout the wall is too thin to hear some noises.

I was really happy to have such a clean and welcoming hotel in a decent area for the price. The room, fixtures, and bath are very basic with zero frills but everything was clean. Our room had a large window that opened out into a courtyard of sorts and this help to keep the noise down and the room cool. (There is a lift, too if you're like me and always have a heavy bag) The hotel is a very short walk from the metro, located near a great corner store, and a divey-but-hip bar. I would stay here again. FYI--we were only there for one night, so we didn't have a chance to explore the area or hotel common areas fully.

Personale disponibile.

Rooms are small but comfortable enough. If you have large luggage, you may find it difficult to fit it in a very small elevator. The hotel is quite close to the metro station and in a relatively short distance to well known tourist attractions.

Very out of the way place in a rather 'sleazy' area of Paris. Reasonably accessable to the metro but not much else. Staff, whilst helpful, were different every time we came or went for our 4 day stay. Lift was barely big enough for a person let alone a suitcase.

Veramente un hotel carino e molto economico. Ideale per fare un we lungo a Parigi. Personale molto accogliente e hotel PULITO.

OK hotel, a bit further from central Paris than we thought upon booking. Some good restaurants nearby, like Austier. Considering the average quality of breakfast I found it to be too expensive. Nice, helpful staff.

The positive points of this hotel are : 1) its location, just a few minutes away from the trendy Marais and from underground stations 2) the cleanliness of the rooms 3) its good relationship between price/quality (you get what you've paid for : since the price is not very high for a hotel in the centre of Paris don't expect anything in terms of design and spaciousness). That makes me come to the negative points : 1) our room was rather small with a tiny space for luggage and clothing, and not renovated, with rather old and ugly desk and chairs. The bathroom was old-fashioned too and needed some repainting. 2) Of course one hears when someone next door or next floor uses the shower or the wc, as it is often the case in small hotels like this. Although the hotel had double-glass windows, we had to sleep with open windows because of the heat (no air-con). The street was rather quiet indeed, except for one night, when a private party in the opposite building made us ask at 2.00 a.m. the reception staff to call the police... they said they did, and indeed the noise stopped afterwards. But they could have done it before.

We found that this hotel was exactly as the Venere site reviews indicated, so we were not surprised to find that it was not in a very desirable neighborhood. The staff was great. The breakfast was good and adequate. The bed was hard as a rock. Nothing to see in the area and not really comfortable to walk around in, but the metro was close.

The Hotel was very nice, next to Gouncourt subway station. Near the Hotel there are Boulangery and mini shop. The room was a bit small e there wasn't a wardrobe. Probably I will come back there just to stay 2-3 nights in Paris but for a longer period probably not. The room was very clean and the bathroom too.

This was a nice hotel. We had the room with the ensuite bathroom, which was extremely clean with a very nice shower. The room itself was very small, with barely enough room for our backpacks, but it was ok. There was a fair bit of noise when other guests entered and left their rooms, since the rooms are so close to each other. The location was good, close to 2 metro stations. When we arrived at 2:15pm, they wouldn't let us into our room to change clothes (check-in was 3pm) but they let us leave our backpacks behind the desk. In general, it was a good experience for the price we paid, although there were a couple negative points (noise, size of the room).

The hotel is nice and well located. There is always somebody at the reception that speaks english to help out. It is really close to a subway station which you can take to go anywhere. There is also a supermarket a block away that is open all the time. The room was really small but it was nice and clean.

This was a great hotel and the staff was FANTASTIC. we had a room for 3 which was spacious and overlooked the street. the bar/restaurant at the corner could get noisy at night, but it didn't really matter. the area is great and there were many good restaurants nearby. we did not take the breakfast, as we found several wonderful boulangeries in the area. we would stay there again. GREAT HOTEL!

This hotel was perfect -- as described, as priced, as expected. Our accommodations were impeccably clean, and -- yes -- not spacious, but that was predicted. We did not go to Paris to sit in a hotel room. The location was excellent -- safe, quiet (for a city, of course), and so close to a delightful Metro station. Reception was patiently helpful, which I needed and appreciated. Merci beaucoup!

The hotel room was very basic, no wardrobe not even a single drawer. Our room was next to the lift, quite a deep noise. hopefully no noise comes from the street. The toilet had no shampoo, only one piece of soap for each guest (in two days). The shower hose is for dwarfs only. Pipes in the walls make a metallic tick-tick (day and night) every time a guest in the same column on a different floor opens the tap. Staff is really friendly and the hotel is very conveninent for the metro.

Stayed in many Paris hotels, this offers one of the best value for money deals. That might be because I booked the rooms 4 months in advance and got a really good deal on the price as well but nevertheless there was nothing wrong about the hotel. Maybe a little noise from other rooms especially when they are showering and stuff but I have been in much worse hotels in that respect as well.
