We needed a hotel in a good location in Paris for one night, and this filled the bill. Room was pretty small but well appointed. Reception staff member at check-in was very nice and helpful, but night staff was hard to communicate with (even in French). Location can't be beat!

Normally the hotels in this historic area, in old buildings are quite small, so we were surprised by the spacious triple room we got. View to the backyard only, but this probably saved us from the traffic noise from the very busy rue St. jacques. I normally stay in this area whenever I'm in Paris, this hotel has an extremely central location, friendly staff, will certainly come back.

The hotel was every bit as good as we expected. Certainly the rooms are quite small but well maintained and the position was perfect for our needs with transport easily accessible. It represents real value for money in our opinion and we have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Brilliant location for a short stay: only 2 metro stops from gare du nord. Our room was located in the attic: but the roof top views were amazing. The breakfast area a little dull so good plan to not pay 12 euros & maybe go out locally. Staff very friendly & helpful.

A very conveniently located hotel. Just around the corner are Notre Dame and the Seine. There are many restaurants nearby. We had a lovely room overlooking the Church of St Severin. The only disappointment was the breakfast. this does not represent good value for 12 euros and should be included in the price. No one appeared to have breakfast in the hotel which meant there was absolutely no atmosphere. We checked it out on the first morning and then went to a local cafe.

We are very satisfied. We think maybe that the staff in the frontier seemed a little as if they did not represent the hotel as "theirs". That is; they seemed a little unprofessional.

Our only negative was we were locked out of the building one evening and had to wait outside for about 15 minutes for someone to return to the front desk to let us in. Over all we had a very nice experience.

The hotel is very comfortable and excellently located, with many restaurants on Rue St. Severin which is opposite. Notre Dame is a two-minute walk away, and the Pantheon is about a 10-minute walk. Metro and RER stations are five minutes away. I would stay here again!

The hotel is located in a very busy area that is central to most of the "must see" attractions in Paris, as well as many shops and restaurants. The staff was welcoming and professional and helped us with anything we asked for. If you are looking for old world charm, this place is for you...it is very "French" and clean and cozy (yes small but no matter). It is quite pricey but its well worth the money to stay in a hotel such as The Henry IV Rive Gauche. I would recommend it and I will return if I have the opportunity.

Very centrally located hotel with charming common areas. Rooms and amenities are pretty basic but reasonable, relative to pricing and location for Paris. Staff was not very helpful - I asked for one extra hour on check out time as I had a marathon to run that morning - and could not get a straigh answer from anyone at reception until the morning of. A firm "no" was given without any effort to accomodate, even though the hotel was not going to be fully booked that evening (a Sunday). I am in Paris often for both leisure and work, and have had much better experiences with staff in other hotels.

Appealing small hotel. My room at the back was quiet. I had a double bed, desk an adequate closet, a second smaller closet, safe and writng desk with chair. The light in the room is dim. If you want to read, do it in the bath room. The bathroom was large enough with tub and shower. Free internet. This is a touristy area and the Sorbonne is nearby adding to the number of young people. Multiple restaurtants of varying quality are near by. The Cluny Museum is one block as is the nearest Metro.

Great Find. My husband, 13 yr old son and I stayed at the Henri IV Rive Gauche (July 2010). Well kept, spotlessly clean, a/c, comfortable beds, fabulous location. (No-smoking rooms!) We asked for a 'quiet' room - got a triple with no view but large windows that faced an inner courtyard; lots of light and windows opened for fresh air. Was absolutely silent in the room, just what we wanted. Great staff, (spoke english), were helpful and professional. Yes, the room was small (they all are in Paris), but had plenty of space to unpack our luggage (3 carry-on sized bags). Bathroom was small, but spotless, modern, with shower/bathtub. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel - just went to local patisserie for pastries and cafe au lait. Touristy location, but walk a few blocks in any direction and find good shops, restaurants, pedestrian streets, etc. Walk 2-3 blocks down rue St. Jacques to the Seine and eat at a great restaurant (corner of rue St. Jacques and rue du Petit Pont) called 'Espace Petit Pont' (had breakfast, lunch and dinner there on separate days, always good/reasonably priced. [Don't forget: Tips and tax are ALWAYS included in your bill at a restaurant/cafe.) Visit the medieval Cluny museum - a short walk from hotel. Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame very crowded but fabulous. Stays light in eve til 11 pm so walk around and enjoy the sights (very safe). Monuments look beautiful lit at night.

Our room had a balcony (I believe the only one) overlooking the street and the church, so a great view, especially to watch the candlelight procession from Notre Dame (2 blocks away) for Michael Jackson. Room was very clean, bright, well decorated with plenty of closet and drawer space and mirrors to compensate for the typically smallish room. Windows are sound proofed so if you have them shut, its quiet. Open, the street noise is quite loud. The major negative was that the AC did not work well/was not strong enough so the room was quite stuffy if the windows were not open. Great location if you like being in the thick of things- many small restaurants and bars, including many international restaurants. I would stay there again.

We LOVED the Henri IV Rive Gauche. Upon checkin, we were delighted to have a room with a view of the St. Severin church right across the street. This was a wonderful location, close to everything: shops, inexpensive restaurants, Notre Dame and several metro and RER stations. The reception staff were extremely professional, helpful and friendly at the same time. Everything was immaculate and spotless. We would happily stay here again and will recommend it without reservation to all our friends.

The front desk staff were great. Everyone could speak English, which helped when my French was failing. They also made arrangements for me to get to the airport, so I didn't have to worry about making the arrangements myself. The hotel offers a decent enough breakfast (at an additional charge), but I recommend going to a cafe and getting great coffee and croissants. My room and bathroom were a little more cramped than I was expecting, but really, do you go to Paris for the hotel room?!?!

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Henri IV Rive Gauche. The room and hotel looked just like the website pictures. If I were to pick fault I was disappointed that we did not have a room with a view. I had requested a view at booking and the view was one of my main reasons for choosing the hotel. However, we did not ask to change rooms as the room we were given was very clean, comfortable, spacious (for a triple) and quiet as it faced the internal courtyard. The bathroom was very small and the toilet was placed next to the shower so it got wet every time we showered which was a small annoyance. Also on check-in we were not given a city map as standard, we had to ask for one later, fast check-in though. It is easy walking distance to Notre Dame (2 mins), the hotel is on the main road to Notre Dame and the Pompidou (10 mins), the Louvre (20 mins) approx. I would get the metro to the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysee and Sacre Coeur and save your feet for climbing the tower and walking round the museums, the metro is inexpensive. We walked along the Seine from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower it took about 40 mins. I would avoid the Sacre Coeur at night as intimidating gangs were hanging around the bottom of the hill when we went. The restaurant opposite the hotel was only ok, the area is very "studenty" but felt safe. We did not find any places serving breakfast for cheaper than the hotel nearby so we ate breakfast at the hotel once. They have a concierge service for leaving your bags after check-out which was good. I personally think the hotel was overpriced, if breakfast were included I would think it were reasonable, however all of the hotels we looked at in Paris when booking seemed to be very expensive. The only reason I would not stay there again would be due to the price and to maybe try staying in a different location.

I was nervous about booking a hotel for this trip being aware of the reputation of Parisian hotels and also as I was travelling with my mother and aunt who would be a little more picky than myself about hotel rooms! That in mind I was delighted when we arrived at the Henri IV where our triple room was spacious, cozy, warm and immaculately clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful and as mentioned by most the location was wonderful...very handy for Sunday mass in the Notre Dame Cathedral! Although we walked Paris and were kept busy we arrived back in Ireland 'well rested' thanks to two great nights sleep. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Henri IV Rive Gauche and had the single room with shower no. 504. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that I had my own private terrace with view of the towers of Notre Dame - surely especially delightful in summer, as one could breakfast on the terrace. The room was small but very well-designed with small entranceway with wardrobe, then the next room with the single bed along the wall and two or three steps leading up to the desk area and bathroom and the terrace. I loved the atmosphere also of the public rooms (open fireplace in the reception area, etc.) Breakfast at 12 € seemed reasonable, although I went out for breakfast. The hotel is only 500 meters from the RER B station for the airport and is extremely convenient for sightseeing, restaurants, etc. Despite the hotel being in a busy area, the room was very quiet.

I chose this hotel because of TripAdvisor rating (20 at the time). It is a very well run property, and the staff were pleasant, but my stay was not exceptional in any way, and the hotel was less of a value than I expected from a tiny single room at close to $200 a night in low season. Plusses: location is excellent for tourists; very convenient for Metro; room (604) efficient despite diminutive size -- every inch is used; great view; quiet.

Lovely friendly hotel, very clean, nice staff and excellent location. My only disappointment in an otherwise wonderful stay was the use of an open fire in all the publicity photos. When we got there on a very cold snowy November evening, the fireplace in the lobby was just for show, and obviously never used. It had been a major factor in choosing the hotel at that time of year, so a bit of a disappointment for it not to be lit.

Nice staff; receptionist a bit preoccupied when we arrived talking to another member of staff resulting in a short wait but overall staff friendly and efficient, especially a guy working the night-shift- very humorous! Easy and cheap to travel to hotel using RER B line train from airport to St Michel and then a 2 minute walk. Hotel is in a fantastic location with great restaurants, bars, street performers and attractions such as Le Louvre close by. Despite this, there was no problem with noise from the street as this street is quieter than its neighbouring ones which are vibrant! Room was well-maintained, clean and comfortable but small compared to other capital cities that we stay in...apparently typical for Paris though. We spent little time there so it was no problem. We enjoyed a well-priced tour with www.france.com of Le Louvre and Montmartre which I would strongly recommend- some tours with other companies are very expensive.

The website was entirely clear and accurate! Our room was larger than expected -- plenty of room once we unpacked into the two closets and put away the suitcases. The view from room 401 is spectacular: flying buttresses of St. Severin and even a sliver of the top of the Effel Tower (we only noticed this at night, when it did its "light show.") It's the only room with a step-out balcony on the front of the property, but since it's on the 5th floor (US numbering), we were not kept awake by noise. (This is a bustling neighborhood!) Notre Dame, the Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, music clubs and many restaurants all within a very easy walk. It's also near the Batobus stop, a fun alternative to the Metro we used one day. Taking the train from CDG to the property was a snap. We did not breakfast there; too much! We found a boulangerie nearby with a breakfast for two special. Restaurants nearby we recommend: La Petit Pointoise; Le Reminet; Toustem (new bistro of Helene Darroze.) But even in these more moderately priced restaurants, the euro vs. the dollar right now is a killer! You'll have a great dinner for two with wine -- for $150E

We decided to stay at the Henri IV Rive Gauche hotel because the location and the photo's on the website led us to believe that it was worth the money. We got there from Gare Du Nord and its only 2 stops away on the metro and was very simple to find following the directions we downloaded from the website and only a stones throw away from Notre Dame. The reception area and views from the room were certainly worth the money but the pictures of the bedrooms did not match what we were led to believe and for that I was really disappointed. The fact that we were also street side meant that there was traffic noise through the day and most of the night so although we had splendid views, we didn't actually get much sleep in the 3 nights that we stayed there. The room however, was clean and although not very big was adequate as were spent most of our time sight seeing. There was one night where I was cold so requested an extra blanket from reception and they told me that they didn't have anything to offer me. 30 minutes later there was a knock on my door and the guy had brought me an extra duvet which was great but weird considering he said outright that there was nothing to give me. Paris is an amazing city and there is so much to see - the Metro is by far the best way of getting around but be warned when visiting the Eiffel Tower - you will queue to get up to the 2nd floor. Queue to get to the top floor and queue to get off again!! On the whole, I would stay at the hotel again but not on the street side. Also they charged me a 'city tax' whatever that is which was a few Euro's more than what was quoted.

Our first time to Paris and we selected this hotel based on the reviews we had previously read. We were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful - our French is poor to say the least, however they were always courteous and very willing to speak English, which they spoke well. The hotel had a lovely fresh aroma to it when we walked through all common areas. A great location very close to numerous restaurants, the Metro and Notre Dame. The bedroom was small, however we are told that that is usual, however the bathroom was a very generous size and clean – water was hot and pressure was good. I was somewhat skeptical about the veracity of the reviews, but we were delighted to discover that the claims made by former guests were correct! Our room was quite pleasant, the hotel staff extremely helpful and the location was just the best.Having a multi-lingual staff was important to us as well as a desk that was staffed 24/7.Loved the lift and the way the hotel was decorated. We'd not only recommend Hotel Henri to friends, but would stay there again on our next visit to Paris!(Our only negative was the 11 euro breakfast which we decided was way to expensive for what it was.So we found a pastry shop nearby for breakfast)

We spent a long weekend at this lovely hotel in Paris. The staff were friendly and helpful and recommended a great restaurant. One of our rooms was fantastic- overlooking the church and quite spacious. The other was a little smaller. Great location too and would definately recommend highly to friends and family

Excellent, convenient location within sight of Notre Dame. Hotel clean, smart and very french in style and staff excellent - very helpful and all spoke english. Only minor quibble was the size of the room - but then all rooms in Paris seem to be equally small unless you have a very generous budget - and the 1970's inspired white artec walls but overall a great stay and the hotels position in the heart of the restaurant / cafe area beside Notre Dame was excellent.

Henri IV is a lovely hotel to stay in, approx to all locations such as the notre dame cathedral..literally 3 min walk, Restaurants and pubs everywhere but dont interfere with noise at night, the metro is around the corner, Price pays for the hotel just as much as the location. We stayed 3 nights, 4 days (my girlfriend and I) If we got tired of site seeing, we just popped back into the hotel for a rest..and then off we go again.. Our room was small but perfect in the sense of decor, cleanliness, lighting...etc great view from the 1st floor even. The higher you go in the hotel the better the view, the bigger the room and price..we did not eat in hotel, went out for breakie evryday, very romantic city and place to stay....for the young and old. Hotel is small, and relaxed...like a very very posh bed and breakfast. i cannot recommend this hotel enough...location=10, staff=10 Hotel=10 Would go back in the morning..;) and plan to go back enjoy

The location is awesome! It is just a few steps away from Notre-Dame and in the middle of the Latin Quartier. It is fabulous to discover Paris as it is located in the very centre and a minute walk from the RER stop going directly to both airports. Rooms are small, but ok for Paris. The views you get from the room are spectacular! It is just the Saint Sevérin Church and you! The hotel public areas are very well decorated and make you feel as if you were at home! Fantastic for a romantic weekend! Do not hesitate and do book this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Nathalie, at the front desk, was very helpful and patient on everything from getting us taxis to directions. The Chinese restaurant nearby, with the ducks in the window, was excellent. Had a great lunch and order the roast duck.

As everyone had said, spectacular location. Was traveling with 14-yr-old daughter and we had so much fun. Hotel close to everything, including a Velib rack (bikes to rent - highly recommend!). Tiny room with two twin beds, but had absolutely everything we needed. Good noise and temp control. Nice bathroom. And so cheap!
