Find another hotel if you travel with family If you are a family with 5 members then stay away from this hotel. Booked a quad room which normally works fine for us still. The extra person increases the overall price with 30%, and you will first know when you get there. The male receptionist did not show any flexibility at all. For the extra price you do not even get an extra pillow. Location is ok, but parking can be a challenge.

This hotel provided a neat, clean room, but it was slightly over-priced. Perhaps that was due to the fact that it was tourist season and rooms were in demand. The breakfast was only slightly better than a continental breakfast, but it was sufficient. The lobby was very hot, but the room I was in had a nice air-conditioner. The wifi service was good.

This is a hotel that works in Paris, but would fail anywhere else. If you are looking for a bed and they have the right rate it is fine. Bathroom was so small you could sit on the toilet and your knees would touch both walls, the shower was so poorly maintained (ops shower handle fell off shower curtain 6 inches from the floor ops very wet floor...) and a strong smell of mold but could not see any. Beds were fine and they have a fridge which is good to try and keep costs down in Paris for some food. Front staff where a mix bunch some excellent but somewhere poor. All spoke good English and knew how to get around well. Great location for Metro to access three different lines from three different stations. Bottom line if the price works it is fine.

Location a bit confusing to find. Once you become oriented it is actually very convenient. Room (quad) was very small. Barely enough room to walk between the single beds. If I were to develop a definition of thin walls it would be "Hauteville Opera". I thought the people in the next room were yelling at me from the foot of my bed. Plenty of water pipe noises also. For a few nights it wasn't too bad but I would stay somewhere else if I visit Paris again.

Even taxi driver cannot find the address perhaps due to the hotel did not put their name out. Reception was poor. We feel this is not as good as we perceived.

Decent little hotel. Bit hard to find because there is no sign outside but it is close to Gare du Nord. The area isn't the greatest but the Bonne Nouvelle Metro stop is close so stay out late. Staff speak excellent English and were very helpful and pleasant.

It is a nice hotel in a walking distance to the Eurostar station. The room is clean and the staff are very friendly. I enjoyed my stay in a quadruple room there.

IT'S A GOOD 2 STAR BY N. AMERICAN STANDARDS. THE AREA IS FANTASTIC FOR EATING WELL FOR NOT ALOT! DOWNSIDE IS THE METRO ISN'T VERY CLOSE, BUT ONLY 10 MINS WALKING. THE STATIONS ARE VERY NEAR AND I HAVE WALKED WITH MY LUGGAGE BOTH TIMES I HAVE STAYED THERE, AGAIN ABOUT 10 MINS. IT WAS UNDER RENOVATION ON THE OUTSIDE WITH SCAFFOLDING WHILE I WAS THERE - BUT THAT MAY HAVE CHANGED NOW. CHOOSE THIS IF YOU WANT GOOD STANDARD BUT CHEAP PRICE.

I went for my first time to Paris with two friends and we stayed at Hauteville Opera. We went from 4th-10th october. The weather was great and we could visit everything we wanted. At the hotel gave us useful information to go to the places (Versalles, museums,...) and the nearly all the staff could speak different languages (english, spanish,...) so no problem if you don't speak french! Other good thing about the hotel was its location, close to the underground (Poissonière). I will return to Paris, and also to Hauteville Opera.

Good location, close to the Gare du Nord and not far from the center by foot. The place was quite small, but comfortable and clean. For example, the triple room we were in had basically only space for the beds but it was clean and looked new. The street beside is not noisy, but the shower from the room above sounded a lot.

It was alittle hard to find, as others have said. But, it was in a good location, near two metro stops that get you to all the sights. The room was a triple, actually spacious enough for the short time we were in it. It was very quite and clean. The first night, the desk person directed us to a nice home-style French restaurant. He even called to let her know that we were coming. Typical prices for Paris at this one. There are several restaurants within short walking distance too. A nice India one with excellent prices for Paris. Even though they offered breakfast, we were usually in a hurry to get to the sites early. It was cheaper to eat out. There are lots of pastry shops with little quiche pie slices and, of course, wonderful breads and pastries. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind walking short distances to the metro because it was definitely more quiet then the hotels closer to the metro.

Very welcoming staff.couldn't be more accommodating and friendly - top marks for that. breakfast could improve - tinned fruit not fresh fruit supplied; bread rolls not fresh; variety of cereals limited. Service very pleasant though. Bed was basic and not level - hotel needs to be sure of bed comfort.

We stayed during the rugby world cup so obvioulsy the prices were elevated big time. Even so having arrived in the room to find clothes underwear toothpaste and books belonging to the previous owner was a bit much. The room had an awful smell and did not seem in the least bit clean. The staff were friendly enough but on the whole I would never recommend this hotel.Thank God we did not spend much time there. Location was good

Grand hotel for a night or two. Following renovations, the net curtains were filthy and the walls needed hoovering! But everything else was lovely. We took the metro to Gare de l'Est as per instructions on Venere but Grands Boulevards or Poissonniere are much closer.

This hotel is fine for the price. The location is great with metro stops and restaurants close by and yet off the main drag therefore fairly quiet. The beds were comfortable. It was nice having a well stocked mini bar at fair prices available in the room if we wanted it.

As a family of four (2 adults, 14 and 10 year old daughters) it is difficult to find hotel rooms that can accommodate all of us. Hauteville Opera delivered quite well and was good value (relative to the generally expensive rates in Paris) in a good location. The room had two doubles and a single bed, and a bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink. The room also had a flat screen TV and AC. Although a little cramped (not much room for luggage) we managed fine. Location was good: 15 minute walk from the Louvre and from the Opera house. 10 minute walk from Paris North train station. The only slight downside was the ongoing construction which eliminated much of the lobby area. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Elevator was tiny and often slower than climbing the stairs.

We were delighted with the welcome by the staff who were very helpful and offered advice to us during our stay. The accomodation was spacious for a family of four by Paris standards although we were disappointed by the the standard of the shower curtain which was not as clean as it could have been in our room. Despite the hotel undergoing refurbishment the rooms were reasonably clean generally and quiet while we were there. The breakfast room was bright and staff were courteous and it was a varied selection for a buffet breakfast. Good location for access to Metros and Gare de Nord. we were satisfied with our stay at Hauteville Opera.

Unfortunately they were renovating the hotel during our stay. If not, our over-all score would have been higher. Except for the noise from the renovation, it was a quiet and nice neighbourhood. For three nights in Paris, it was a nice hotel.

Excellent value for the cost, with a very hospitable and friendly staff. Nice location in between the Grands Boulevards and rue Lafayette, close to several metro stops and also within a nice walking distance of Beaubourg, the Louvre, and in the other direction Montmartre (and the Opera quarter). For travelers who need internet access, the hotel has an excellent connection, which is included in the room charge. Breakfast is extra, but is an ample buffet with a good array of choices. All in all a very nice stay. The single rooms are a bit small, but clean. The larger rooms are quite spacious and nice.

We're a family of five. The children (aged 9, 13 and 14) had their own room with three proper beds, on the same floor as our smaller double room. The exterior of the hotel was being renovated during our stay, so the view from the kids' room was obstructed by scaffolding and a canopy. It didn't bother us much, as we only came to sleep there. Breakfast was basic and nothing special. We could have boiled eggs two of the three mornings. If you're looking for a low price without sacrificing a convenient location, I think this Hotel must be very hard to beat.

Petit hôtel original dans un quartier animé, proche des cinémas Rex et de l'opéra. Ma chambre était petite et mal insonorisée. La clientèle cosmopolite. Pour un court séjour, pourquoi pas.

For the price , the accomodation was very good value. The fridge in the bathroom was an unusual touch! Excellent location, within walking distance of The Louvre and all the essential sights. Not luxurious but very clean, all essentials supplied. Would certainely stay there again because of its location and price.

After spending a few nights in sweltering Paris (35+ degrees) on the first leg of our French vacation in a non-air conditioned hotel, we decided to spend a bit more money on an air-conditioned hotel at the end of our trip. I wish I had picked this place at the start. It had recently renovated rooms (even though the quality of the renovation was somewhat suspect). The desk clerk was an amusingly snarky Parisian who went out of his way to suggest the best walking route to the Pompidou museum. The rooms were, as expected, small but not uncomfortably so. The petit dejeuner was acceptable. The area is somewhat non-descript although a good Sushi restaurant was located only a couple blocks away. If you are on a moderate budget or traveling with children, this is a good compromise. I would return.
