As is often the case with Parisian hotels, teh rooms are not extarordinarily trendy but clean and above all spacious. Staff are the friendliest ı have met in any hotel in Paris. The location is absolutely superb, very central. I would definitely stay there again.

Good location, walking distance to the major shopping - Lafayatte and Au Printemp. However, the noise of the subway in the room is very bad and if you are a light sleeper, don't think it will be a good choice, as you can feel the train passing by every day and night when you are in the room.

The place was good. Close to Roissy Bus stop, so easy to access from CDG. Staffs at the front were nice. I could get enough answers I need to know.

Location of the hotel is very good. I got more then I expected, since I was very suspicious because of my previous experience in Paris. Room and bathroom was clean, but quite small. Breakfast is not very generous and diverse but except of croissants, jam and butter, you can have ham and eggs. If your neighbours in other rooms are quiet, then it's ok, but if you have a bit noisy neighbours (even if they talk normally), than you will have the feeling you are in the same room with them. The walls are very thin. Staff is helpfull and friendly. I think this hotel is good value for the money - for the Paris circumstances

Hi there, the single bed was pretty small. And the front door was so heavy, but over all it was alright. And the bathroom was very clean. But one more thing, I couldn't access to the internet in most of the time... Thanks,

Exterior of the hotel and location were nice, the room was small, incredibly hot, needs refurbishment, too soft bed with spots on linen...limited choice of TV channels, noisy...staff was even unable to find a restaurant's phone number on directory, need to teach him doing through google...please forget about this hotel if you can...and for almost 200€ per night it was one of the worst deal in my business traveller career...

I was a bit disappointed with the 'acoustics'. My room was on the fifth floor, but still I could hear the metro going underneath the hotel and it gave me a hard time when I was trying to fall asleep (or remain asleep in the early morning). I could also hear pretty much of the sounds coming from the rooms around, so it felt a bit disturbing. Anyway, the room was nice (a bit too small, but who goes to Paris to sit in a hotel room? For a place to sleep, it's perfectly enough). Air conditioning was loud - it could be turned off, but then it was terribly hot in the room. The bathroom was nice, very clean. I also appreciated very much the coffee & tea making facilities in the room. All in all, it's a good value for the money (the room cost only 90 euro, in the heart of Paris!), but I wouldn't say it was the best hotel I ever stayed in. The metro sounds are quite an issue - but it depends on your sleeping - my friend told me he didn't even notice! :)

The hotel is located in the heart of the City. It is at a walking distance to Opera, Concorde, Louvre, Monmarte and La Fayette is just next door. For the ones likes supermarkets please do visit La Fayette Gourmet, you can also wine & dine there... The staff was very helpful with all our requirements to book tickets and make reservations at the Restaurants.

I was on the second floor, and it was extremely noisy, due to the Metro. The night receptionist was not very helpful and coffee could not be provided. I had been on a flight the previous day, and stayed in paris to attend a Trade Fare. I would not recommend the hotel if you need sleep.

Location location location!! It really is important. The Excelsior is excellently located, 100m from a metro stop and large department stores. Also extremely convenient for the Roissy bus to CDG airport. Hotel staff friendly and helpful--they helped us make a booking at a high-end restaurant against the odds. The Cafe ('Le Royale' I believe it was called) across the street is also handy for a decent value lunch. Also handy having wi-fi in room. Would definitely stay here again, and have recommended it to friends--excellent value for Paris.

The Hotel Excelsior Opera is in an excellent location and very safe and central. I was travelling with my sister and a friend for a weekend away. The room (a triple) was a fair size for a capital city hotel, very clean. The beds were comfortable and there was adequate wardrobe space. The bathroom was also a good size and very clean. The reception staff and duty managers were very helpful. One minor item that might affect some travellers, the lift is small so one of us travelled in it with the suitcases while the other two took the stairs - It may not accommodate a wheelchair. We didn't avail of breakfast in the hotel but the dining area looked nice. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

This hotel is on a busy street near the old Opera House. If you are using the Roissy Bus to transfer from the airport to downtown, this is a good location. I have stayed there twice for this reason. It does have AC and room safes even though the rooms are small...

I stayed 6 nights. Value-priced Haussman-style Hotel very close to the Opera House, several Metro/RER lines and Galleries Lafayette (check out the top of GL for an excellent view of Paris and their cafeteria for a good cup of tea in Paris and value meals). I could walk to Louvre, Champs Elysee, Montmartre. Friendly staff speak English well (heard Spanish and Italian as well) and are very helpful. Room backed onto lift, so a bit noisy at times. Didn't try the continental breakfast but would have liked tea and coffee facilities in the room - even for an extra €10 per day as that's what it cost me to buy my 4 teas/ day.

As a single traveler, I asked for a single room which had a double bed placed against the wall just as you enter the room. There was very little room for me to open my suitcase and when I did, I wasn't able to open the closet door. These older hotels have such small rooms by American standards. At least it was quiet and the front desk personnel were pleasant. The lobby was not attractive and I saw only a few men sitting on a couch near the entrance one afternoon. The location near Roissy Bus' stop near the Opera Garnier was my reason for selecting this hotel and worked out well from that point of view. Otherwise, I would probably not choose to stay there again.

Don't bother looking for any other hotel in Paris. This is the place to stay. This was my 6th trip to Paris. I have stayed at 4 and even 5 star hotels. Excelsior Opera is the BEST for price, location and warmth. Do yourself a favor and book this 100 year old hotel. No wonder it has been around so long, and in the same family. You are treated like royalty. I love the place and will ONLY stay there when I return to Paris. It is close to the metro, less than one minute walk. It's like being on 5th Avenue in New York. Close to the Opera, close to great restaurants, close to the finest shops and department stores. I can not praise the hotel enough. Stay here and enjoy Paris.

The single rooms in this hotel are very small, even by European standards but North Americans should keep in mind, this is Europe - it's expensive, deal with it. The price however, was fair considering the location - one block from the Opera and Galleries Lafayette. Upgrading to a double room was worth the extra cahrge. The double room was spacious with a large bathroom and plenty of room in the closet. Like other places close to Paris' Metro, there was some noise from the subway cars as they passed under the hotel but not enough to wake you. For the budget-minded single traveller, the single room is good value if you are looking for a place close to the Opera, shopping and Metro. The front desk staff were helpful with directions and in making a reservation at another when my stay had to be extended and the Excelsior had no vacancies. The continental breakfast was as good as at any of Paris' cafes, especially the pain aux chocolat and the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel serves a terrific pizza and some great limoncello!

It was an awesome stay at this hotel!! although breakfast wasn't included, there were plenty of cafes and restaurants around the hotel- (if you book on the spot, breakfast is included.. if you book online, breakfast is not included)since opera is like the center of Paris, there were plenty of buses running everywhere, and it was easy to get to many places. since i was travelling alone, i was especially worried about the surroundings- but since there are two department stores, there are bunch of people around. i recommended this hotel to another traveller, and she also like it very much. it's very clean, and the rooms weren't so small as expected, and the people were very nice. except that is was cold at night, my overall stay was an A+.

A very good hotel for tourists who want to see Paris or shop. Great location - halfway between Montmartre and Louvre (both within a walking distance). Nice room, clean bathroom, friendly staff. The only problem is street noise - but it is the very centre of Paris after all.
