The very small space avaible for the room was clever arranged. The bathroom was a very clean, brand new made totally out of plastic materials room. The floor was an old fashioned wood parquet and I like it. The hairdryer You need to ask at the hotel reception for.

the young man at the front desk (son of the owner)needs a lot of training....it looks that he did not like that we show up...he gave the key and say the room # and the floor, he did not want to give his name...we have to look for the door to the dark stairs (we are in our late sixties he did not offer to help with our bags and so on....it's a mess.

my daughter (13) and i were staying in this nice hotel 5-8 aug 2013. i chose it because of a. the rate, and b. the online reviews. to begin with, if you're looking for a generous suite of hotel rooms, 24/7 room service and all kinds of chi chi, go for the ritz or the crillon. indeed, the rooms and the little toilet/shower cubicle were small, the interior was functional - but it was big enough (even i as a 'rotund' person did not experience a bout of claustrophobia, haha) and more than sufficient for a 3-night-stay. besides, it was very clean, there was always a faint odor of chlorine bleach in the air. we found a little wall safe in the room and the 'patron' was very supportive and nice. as for the 'noisy' area (as some people complained online): we're from a rural place - and in this hotel we slept with the window open. ok, in the evenings it was still busy (traffic noise and talking/laughter from the nearby street cafés), but the later it is the more the noise ebbed off. the hotel itself is quiet, there wasn't any noise from the stairwell or the adjacent room. the surrounding area is very authentic and i felt safe. just many nearby stores were closed due to the summer break - we even did not get to the try anything from the bakery mentioned in so many reviews. but there are several supermarkets within walking distance. so is the next métro station (5 min walk), and you walk 15 min to the place gambetta (there is one of the remaining art nouveau métro stations) and 25 min to the père lachaise cemetary (hello jim!). even my daughter (typical teenager and therefore always nagging) enjoyed the stay! ah, two more things: a. i did not understand why so many reviewers complained of the stairwell. it's normal but winding. and b. there's a 2nd 'hôtel ermitage' in paris. the one i'm writing about was recently remodeled. you might only find pics online of its former state or of the other ermitage hotel.

The location is out of the way, but The Metro service is excellent. Easy to get any where. Lots of cafes and eating/supermarket/Asia food near by. The room was small but ok and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is the smallest I have ever seen. I hate to touch all four sides standing up in the shower. The towels are to match I guess. The guy at reception was just ok. Not good, not bad.

On arrival at Hotel Ermitage we were greeted by Mr X, who was the only member of staff we ever saw throughout our stay, and who never introduced himself, and so will remain Mr X for the purposes of this review. Mr X gave us a friendly smile on our arrival and said, 'Bonjour'. He gave us our key and wifi code. First impressions of Mr X are that he is a man of few words, but pleasant to deal with. We arrived back at the Hotel on the first night, after a lovely dinner (and wine) in the nearby Les Rigoles restaurant (horrible service staff but a spectacular omelette which makes it well worth enduring the thinly-veiled contempt of the waitors), and Mr X was having a smoke outside the hotel. I was finishing my own cigarette so we were left in the awkward position of standing outside the hotel smoking in silence. I made the mistake of attempting to make smalltalk about the area, which Mr X ignored, opting instead to look at me like I had two heads. My efforts to enrich our discourse scuppered, I decided from that moment on that I would keep all further communication to a perfunctory 'Bon matin', 'Bonjour','Bon soir' or 'Bon nuit', as the situation dictates. The rooms are tiny but clean, average beds, and the bathroom would probably be the optimum size for a garden gnome, although you still get the job done. We were on the 4th floor which was a fair climb. I suppose a bit of graft never hurt anyone, although I wouldn't fancy it if I had a zimmerframe. The location is the perfect launching pad for anyone young and zimmerframeless who wants to sightsee Paris. There are a few menacing-looking types in the area, but we were never bothered by them, so leave them at it. Overall, Hotel Ermitage is a fine place to hang your hat at the end of the day* hat-rack not provided P.S. If you want to store your baggage for a few hours after checkout Mr X is obliging enough to allow you to do that. He's not a bad oul sort when all's said and done, is our Mr X.

There is no common place like sitting room, garden, restaurant, bar, terrace, backyard, parking...The rooms are too tiny and there is very little space to move. If you sit on the chair it becomes impossible to open the door. That means that even as a couple there is no space for two people to sit down. It is still worst for the bathroom where a peson of a certain size even alone would not be able to bend to clean himself.

Staff courteous and professional. The ensuite bathroom is clean but small as well as very small rooms and furnishings are old. This hotel is spread in height and is without ascenzore. The area is well served by the metro and bus services but it is also very noisy, the rooms are not air-conditioned being forced to sleep with the window open. I only recommend to young couples who want to save, do not have pretensions and adapt easily.

We totally enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our daughter had told us about this hotel so we knew what to expect (small rooms & many stairs). The young gentleman at the hotel was very friendly and helpful considering my husband's french was rusty. The neighborhood was very welcoming as this area is not typically where tourists would come. Though we did the museums, etc... we frequented all the local bakery, cafe/brasserie (next door to the hotel...very welcoming to us), laundry mat, restaurants each morning & evening. The location was ideal as it was very close to the metro station so we were able to get to/from airport, museums, etc easily. My husband & I only care that the room is clean & located so that we didn't have to walk far to the metro. We loved the neighborhood and enjoyed the different cultures; the market right around the corner. I can't say enough good things about this Hotel & brasserie next door.

This was a less expensive hotel than I usually look for, and now I know why. It was ok, but just ok. Neighborhood is just on the edge of uncomfortable. We were there for 14 Juillet and there was way too much activity in the streets - felt like it could get way out of hand - not just some fireworks, but lots of running, yelling and we woke to graffitti on the cars parked in front of the hotel. Other nights were fine, but the walk from the metro can be uncomfortable.

exactly as the comments had stated......the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in with the longest set of spiral staircases I've ever had the priviledge of hauling my luggage up. The twin rooms are only available on the 5th and 6th floors (90 steps to the 5th floor!!)so maybe opt for double bed and lower level. Hotel was very clean (smelled of bleach going up the stairs)close to subway, pub style restaurants, local shopping. Great neighborhood with quick access to all of the tourist spots through public transit. Can actually see the Eifel Tower from the upstairs windows!!Great deal for the price in Paris.

The hotel is located in a primarily residential neighborhood, which is actually not that sketchy as some other reviewers claimed. It is also just a few blocks away from the Belleville neighborhood, which is the cosmopolitan district of Paris, and while not the most clean or touristy, offers a good mix of Asian and North African stores with good prices. The closest subway stop is Jourdain (5 minute walk). The map provided on Venere makes it seem that Belleville is also fairly close, but it is actually a 20-30 minute walk from the hotel. The actual hotel is clean, albeit the rooms and especially the bathrooms are tiny. But then again, for the price and the proximity to the center, it is not at all bad. There is wireless internet on the bottom floor as well as a stationary computer that you can pay to use. Although breakfast is not included, there is a really good bakery just a block away from the hotel where you can buy a pastry for 1-2 euros.

The biggest problem with this hotel is the amount of stairs, there is no lift, I was in room 16 there are 4 rooms to each floor. which meant a steep climb, not good for elderly or people with heavy suitcases!! I loed the area, it is where real people live, some people might find it scary but I loved it! It took about 15/20 mins by tube to the centre. The room was basic, and the bathroom, is small but adequate, the Hotel did clean my room everyday.

To be honest, I really dont know the standard in Paris with the price Euro 65.0 pernight (compared to US/Canada & others). But I think, if the guest will stay at the fifth floor its better a lift or what ever it is to be provided than hand carry their heavy luggage/things.

there is one big technical problem in bathrooms: once you take a shower, the ventilator starts automatically and won't stop until the bathroom is not humid-which happens in the morning, if you take a shower in the evening. so during whole night there is this annoying sound of ventilator and there is no way to stop it, unless the guy downstairs cut off the electricity in your room during the night. it also happened that once our room wasn't cleaned up. thoufg, when we arrived, we also found some things under the bed, such some penny coins, handkerchief, etc. otherwise, the receptionist was a nice guy and surroundings of the hotel just perfect.

Yes, we had clean sheets but with holes...still wondering why... The bathroom is veeeeeeeery tiny. My husband and I are tall so everytime we wanted to wash a face we needed to open up a bathroom door in order to be able to do so. The shower - you can walk in and walk out and that's almost it what you can do in there. So if you are taller that 6.1 or a little overweight this shower will not work for you. No elevator in the building. But we liked the location - 20 minutes by metro from the center. You can see how people live. The restaurants are open until late and food is excellent but not very many people speak English. If you decide to stay there ask for the higher level rooms - you'll find out why. :)

Consiglio senza alcun dubbio l'Ermitage.

The walls in the hotel arent very thick, meaning that you can hear each step somebody takes. The bathroom was tiny, I was hardly able to move. Other than that the keeper hardly knew any English but he seemed really nice and was very friendly (he even gave us a hairdryer :)). They give you a code for the door so you can stay out as long as you want to. It's just sad that they dont offer breakfast ( well they do, but I think you pay another 8€ for that). The price for the rooms are cheap, the location maybe kind of inconvenient and the neighborhood not that nice, but I thought it was great anyway :).

This is a good choice as cheap hotels go. All the basic requirements were met, i.e. cleanliness, ensuite bathroom and shower, TV, etc. No frills, so there was no air conditioning, which made it very hot in late June. Also no elevator, and the rooms were small. The neighborhood was quite far away from the center of the city. But if you are on a budget like we were, it is a great place. We were only in the room to sleep, so the size didn't matter, and we were close to a metro stop, so it didn't matter that it was farther out. I would choose it again, except that I have since learned that you can rent an apartment by the week for the same or less money, which would be a more comfortable cboice.

You will NOT like the Ermitage if you are expecting AMERICAN amenities - if you have AMERICAN expectations don't go to France. BUT if you don't mind the common things like stairs and close-quarters - if you want to really appreciate Paris and escape the tourist gaunlet - the Ermitage is PERFECT. It is a simple walk to Gambetta (a pleasant link to the Metro), with a fresh market on the sidewalks on weekends - bakeries and cafes line the way - and - Gambetta is a single block north of Pere LaChaise Cemetery which offers a amazing and moving sense of history and societal art of Paris. Ermitage is beautiful for people that want a place that doesn't come from a cookie-cutter experience! Welcome to France!

Although this is not the fanciest hotel with the newest linens and the most spacious rooms, it's a very good deal for the cheap price! It's reasonably clean and has a decent amount of space. We stayed for two nights. The shower in our room was very small but had excellent hot water and water pressure. The windows on our room were really big and great to have them open in the nice weather. When they are closed they really keep out the noise. I liked the neighborhood a lot, although a bit far from the center of Paris, it's only a short walk to the metro and there are coffee and bakeries within a stone's throw. It's a good neighborhood to be in if you want to stay away from a lot of touristy stuff. Also if you are there on the weekend there is a farmer's market around the corner. All in all, we can't complain about our stay at Ermitage. I would definitely go there again.

The Ermatage was a great place to stay in Paris, especially for the price. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood. The hotel itself is quiet. Since the hotel is small- 4 rooms per floor - guests walking up to their upper floor rooms late at night are a little noisy. The neighborhood is great. Rue des Pyanees is a wonderful shopping street. After sight-seeing it was fun to stop in the local cheese shop, bakery, wine shop, fresh produce shop, etc. and pick up a light dinner to eat in the hotel. We had a couple meals at the Zepher Restaurant near the Jourdain Metro Shop had wonderful food and great service.

Great Price for Paris. Small rooms but they are clean. Noisy staircase, but not really the fault of the staff, but more the guests. Very nice staff, english speaking, bus stop right outside the hotel, and metro few blocks away, close to Pere LaChaise, and some great places to dine. Great stay!

An excellent place to stay for a short time. Rooms are tiny, especially for "larger, economy sized" people. Everyone was pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Room #1 is especially teensy and neither my partner nor I could use the bathroom and close the door! The staff immediately moved us to a "larger" room. All in all it was fun and we stayed there twice and will probably return. They remember us. We think they are very honest and fair. Close to metro and some interesting places. Considering the size of the rooms I think they could be less.

The staff were nice on the whole and we were pleased with the room given to us - being clean and spacious. We were slightly disappointed with 'excellent views' as mentioned in the website, as the view from our room in the 5th floor didn't allow us to see much of the city's skyline. One thing though was that we asked the staff how we can adjust the heating in the room as we felt rather cold at night but he said it was centrally controlled and there was nothing he could do about it. We thought he could at least offer to give us extra duvets but he didn't, so we had to wear a couple more layers to stay warm! Nevertheless, the accomodation is good value for money!

An OK little hotel in nice surroundings. Quiet room, but tiny!! Had a little difficulty in getting a room with 2 beds instead of a double bed when arrived, but succeeded at last.. No lift.. our room at 5th floor, but luckily not much luggage with. No breakfast possibilities. But we got a good night sleep and for a very low price not far from the very center of the town!

Piccolo ma carino e molto pulito. Piuttosto silenzioso.

if you only want to stay one night at paris this is the hotel for. but you must have good legs and not much luggage, cause there is no elevator in it. final result: a good small hotel - also with a child - at paris.

The place is pretty good for the price. Its a little away from the city center, but Paris has an excellent metro system and so it didn't really matter... The owner was very co-operative, and even held our luggage for 5 days while we were in Italy. (CDG has no left luggage facility and the ones available at stations are a ripoff). The area is pretty mediocre though...but for 45 euros, thats about what you can expect...

Our room was very small but for the extremely low price it was expected. The staff were very good and allowed us to leave our luggage there after we checked out, overall a great little hotel.

The hotel is a little bit far from Paris, but a quick metro gets you there. Room #1 was quite small, but we only needed a place to sleep. The bathroom was incredibly small, and using the facilities was not the easiest. I wouldn't have wanted to be a large person to fit into that shower. The staff was pleasant enough, and the price was exactly what we were looking for.

The rooms are small (the bathroom is the smallest I've ever seen!) but they're ok. No air conditioning and the hotel is placed over a crossroad so the rooms are very noisy if you leave the window open.

This is an excellent place if you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Paris. The double rooms are not very big, but quite comfortable. The bathroom is also small, but there is a shower. The staff is very friendly, they clean the room and provide fresh towels every day. If you need to leave your luggage they have a store room for this purpose. On the other hand there is no lift and there are no public areas, but if you want to have breakfast there are a bar and a bakery in the surroundings. There are also some good restaurants (Tunisian and Indian) in the area. We will certainly go back to Ermitage next time we plan a trip to Paris.

We agree to A.Pablo. It was helping us to read the comments before booking. Now our comment after visiting: The rooms a small, but clean. Instead a large warderobe we would prefer a hallstand + place for our luggages. Every day you'll find a new towel. The receptionist is able to speak english and is helping you in questions of visiting points of interest.

The hotel was in a resonable location, very close to metro, but a reasonable walk from the centre. The roome were all you need, no extra space, bed, shower, TV. Little was seen of any staff, no breakfast. Cheap and satisfactory. If you want somewhere to sleep in the warmth, it was nice.

If you're looking for a clean, simple, comfortable place to sleep and shower, then this is the place for you. As long as you're not looking for a fancy schmancy place, go for it. There isn't an elevator so be prepared to walk up some stairs. And the bathrooms are pretty small too...but those are the only bad aspects.

Nice small hotel, easy to access by car and parking facility is close, but very small rooms especially the bathroom is as small as i have never seen in my life. For the offered comfort it is quite expensive, that is because paris is very expensive.

The price via internet is 5 euos more expensive than the normal price. The metro station should be more precised.(Metro station: Jourdain- line 20) There is no good view from the room of the hotel.
