I very convenient but quite loud location. Very expensive internet access and/but there are work-arounds - which (however) involve other hotel's ads. Somewhat expensive for the value and/but more available, possibly because it IS a worse value. I recommend planning earlier than we did and avoiding this hotel.

I've been to Paris twice now and this hotel is pretty standard where the "lower cost" rooms come in. It has smaller rooms than might seem possible, and the views are not too terrific. Although the huge MacDonalds sign on the roof does help you find the place. But the location is perfect and close to everything and there is a metro entrance is right outside the front door of the hotel.

Very nice Hotel with new and quite big (for the French standards...) bathroom. Nice coffee-room even if very small. Very easy to find, just outside Montparnasse Metro station in front of the skyscraper and Lafayette boutiques. Lot of nice restaurants along the street.

The managers at the desk did not have enough or correct information about tourist venues. eg: dates and times of opening -* travelled all the way to Versaille only to find out that it was closed even after asking. Otherwise a very central location and an amazing bathroom.

a very nice hotel with lovely bathroom, entrance to metro is outside the door. Rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. The air con was not strong enough in the room but we slept with the windows open, some street noise and the vibrations from the metro could be heard but not enough to disturb you after a long days sightseeing in Paris. Watch your bill as we had breakfasts and internet charged that we did not use

I stayed in Hotel Edouard VI when I went to Paris with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday. If you are going to Paris for the first time keep in mind that it's extremely hard to find a spacious and nice hotel room on a budget. I was satisfied with Edouard VI, although it was definitely not worth the 130 euros I was paying per night. But for Parisian standards it was OK. The room was small with very basic furniture (a small desk and an armchair), without much storage room, but very clean and the bathroom all new and sparkling. Our towels and linen were changed every day. In terms of decoration nothing special, but nothing too kitschy or horrible. There was a flat screen television (smallish) and a mini bar which we used to store foods we bought. The room was also very quiet, but we had no view whatsoever, our window oversaw just rooftops. Which was not so bad either. Being on the 5th floor we weren't really bothered by the metro as other reviewers have said. The staff was nice enough, however we were very low maintenance guests, as I've been to Paris many times and know my ways pretty well. The location is pretty sweet. It's very close to St Germain and Luxembourg park and close to Les Invalides area (a posh quartier with many good restaurants and home to the Musee Rodin, and Musee Maillol which are both amazing). The area is full of restaurants and cafes, some of which stay open later than most Parisian establishments. The 15th arr. which lies below Luxemburg, through Vaugirard is very charming. A real slice of bourgeois Paris, without tourists and pretention. The metro station is really convenient and links you to many metro lines, while the bus coverage is also good. In general, the hotel covered our needs and in any case, when in Paris you have no reason to stay in your hotel room other than sleeping.

This was my first time in Paris. I had done a fair bit of research so I was prepared for the small bedrooms. However, I was blown away in general by how friendly the Parisians were and particularly the staff in the hotel. In addition to all this it's in a great location (right across the road from the Metro station). Yes sometimes you can hear the Metro from the hotel but it was no big deal. I would definitely stay in Hotel Edouard VI if I was going back to Paris again and would recommend it to my friends as well.

The most horrible experience in years. We paid 169 EUR for a very small room , plus we have being charged kind of tax every day and breakfast, though when i booked the hotel through Venere it had to be all included. Also it wasnt 4 star as mentioned in Venere but 3 star. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone.

Very convenient to the metro. The staff was very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, would definately visit the hotel again!
Switzerland, Apr 2007
When we made the reservation, we were asking for a room above the 2nd floor and got one just on the 2nd floor. The noise from the metro is really annoying. The room was extremely small and not renovated as published on the web. The bathroom was not clean, very old and the sink did not work properly. When we complained, the cleaning lady said it was our fault. 128 Euro for such a service is not correct. Another staff member said we should complain and that there were much nicer rooms available than ours. I would not go back and not recommend this hotel.

This was the second time we stayed at the hotel this year and we were as happy as the first time. A nice surprise was that the bathrooms were redone and were fresh and new. The Hotel is so well situated - opposite bus stops, on top of a metro stop and a block (although a long one) from Gare Montparnasse. It was very easy to reach the hotel by Ait France bus which stops at Gare Montparnasse. We left the terminal and walked to the clearly marked stop for the bus to Montparnasse and 5 minutes later we were on the bus!

This place is in a great location. I traveled everywhere via metro and by foot, and this place allowed me to do that smoothly. Surrounding restaurants and cafes (there are many!) are expensive, but it is around the corner from a post office, a tabac, and a market. The tower is across the street, where you can get a 360 view of paris--it's incredible at night. And the Montparnasse Cemetary is around the corner (lots of famous writers and artists buried there) But I found this out on my own, since the staff doesn't offer any details about things to do. You have to know about things and then ask. They just hand you some brochures for tours and send you to your room. The woman at the desk was great with directions and the metro, when I'd ask her how to get somewhere, but she wasn't the most pleasant person. The room was comfortable enough (I'm from a major city, so I didn't mind the outside noise and the metro underneath. Be warned, though, at first I wasn't sure what it was, and it feels like a minor earthquake. But I got used to it in a day_. It was clean, and had a nice bathroom, compared to the first place I stayed in the Opera district. I realized, and was told by locals, once there, that it's not quite in St Grermaine, as it advertises. It's actually in Montparnasse, but it's around the corner from St. Germaine and near the Latin quarter--I walked there--and Montparnasse is a nice place, I think. If you're looking for reasonable price, a basic clean hotel room, central location, good metro access, and lots of cafes and restaurants close by, this place is for you. I spent most of my time outside of the room, so it was a good place to sleep, clean up, and go!

The location for the hotel is really good. Very close to the metro, a train station, supermarkets, a McDonald's, cafes, the post office, internet cafes as well. The staff were also very helpful. The only downside was you can definitely feel the some vibrations and the sound coming from the metros. And when I placed the 'do not disturb' sign on the door, it didn't actually work, they would call you on the phone and insists on cleaning the room and vacate in like ten minutes thereafter. The rest of the stay was really okay, the reception people were really friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Hotel. The staff at the desk could speak English and were friendly - especially the gentleman who was on duty when we arrived. The Hotel is very well situated - close to Montparnasse train station, across the street from bus stops and a Metro stop right in front of the Hotel. It is easy to walk down Rue de Rennes to Boulevard St German. There are lots of Brasseries within walking distance. When you exit the train station, walk in the direction of Galleries Lafayette! The Hotel is opposite it.

The staff are wonderful. Catherine especially. They can understand and speak english. We do not feel like strangers in another land. We had a good time and we are going to stay longer next time at the this hotel. The place is near the train station, metro, restaurants, and shopping places. Thanks.

We had a very good stay, with all accommodation as expected and a friendly staff welcome. A good location for getting around to the main places of interest. Some good reasonably priced restaurants within short walking distance - La Coupole (French & seafood menu) and Chez Bebert (North African menu) Was definitely worth asking for an upper storey room - we were on the fourth floor - as the hotel is above the Metro line - see earlier reviews. Overall, we would happily recommend this hotel to others.

We are a family of 4 travelling all around Europe in winter. We recommend using the Bienvenue Montparnesse metro station, which is literally outside the front door of the hotel. The hotel is very convenient for many of the favourite tourist attractions of Paris and there are plenty of restaurants on the same streeet, plus a small supermarket a few metres away. We found it an excellent location, although the lower rooms did vibrate every time a train came into the metro station. We had rooms at the top of the hotel and they were fine. There is a small lift. Breakfast was expensive.

Small hotel, room + bathroom clean. Helpful employees at the reception. Excellent area near cafés, restaurants, métro and bus. If you wisch a quiet place then this hotel is not for you.Sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine, watching Paris busy at 3.00 in the morning. Love the place. Price o.k. for Paris. Will surely return for the good location and the french surronding atmosphère. Breakfast 9€50 is not worth. Having caffé et croissants beside the hotel is more fun and so french.

The room was very small with an unattractive view onto a backyard/roof area. The bath, however, was newly renovated and very clean. The room was quiet (as it went out to the back), the rumble of the metro provided a lulling background sound. The location is very central but difficult for parking.

Our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. The staff discretely met all the requests I made with my internet booking. The only unexpected item - a small tax or VAT charge on each night's stay. This would be much less worrying if it could be included in the price listed on the Venere website.

5 minutes after arriving at the hotel, the bags were in the room and I was sitting downstairs outside Bar Leffe eating a lovely meal with a bottle of Rose and a huge grin on my face. I'll be back for sure.

Ci tornerei molto volentieri, siamo stati molto bene.

We spent 3 nights at this small but confortable hotel. From our arrival to our departure there was a friendly treat, a willing to help attitude from everyone who attended us(Marcus, Steven, Susana). The location was perfect for us since there were a variety of restaurants and stores, ATM machines close by and the metro station right in front. The train and bus stations were at walking distances. I would certainly return to this hotel if I ever come to Paris again.
