Hotel rooms very small and need updated. Numerous wires hanging from walls and some lights didn't work. Also beds very close to floor sitting on a small frame and plank of wood. Rooom was on 4th floor and no lifts 68 steps with luggage! However, great location lots of cafes, bars, stores and pastry shops nearby. Close to Metro Stop. Staff was good at emailing but English very limited and gave a good map but couldn't give good directions in English. Also charged 2EUR to call us a taxi...thought this was a normal hotel front desk service. We were only in room to sleep so it was perfect for the price.

Avoid this hotel. It has no elevator, even though some rooms are on the 4th floor! It's crippling if you're carrying bags or kids. The rooms are tiny. WiFi works very poorly, if at all. Breakfast is basically just bread and coffee, for €6 you can get better at local cafés.

We booked a triple room, but we got a double room with a small bed under a desk. The room was too small for 3 persons. The price was quite good, the staff was ok, if you speak french (except for the receptionist - he/she speaks english good, and was very sympatic).

This hotel is great if you're looking for an expensive stay in one of Paris' up-and-coming districts. Though the decor is dated, the location off the tourist trail makes this hotel worth a try. It's situated on a charming little square in Batignoles, with a large church in the middle, a very friendly bar-restaurant and a cafe at one end and a pretty park at the other. I've stayed at this hotel a few times and each time I go, more shops, bars and cafes have sprung up. The area is clearly undergoing a gentrification, which makes the hotel particularly good value.

We booked a doubleroom for 4 days through venere.com to Hotel "Du Roi Rene", Paris. We got from venere 240 EUR price, however received a confirmation mail directly from hotel for 340 EUR. After 3 e-mails change we cleared the situation and got back the 240 EUR. Unfortunately at leaving they were insisting again for 340 EUR. Only after half hour discussion (in spite of showing them the copy of their e-mail) could we get the original price. They said : venere price is only an indication and we should read carefully the whole offer. It was very disappointing and will think twice before use your service again. Some hotels of similar quality in the vecinity for the same price offers breakfast. One of the recepcionist (Weekend night, was really unfriendly)
