Bathroom was new and very clean and recently re-done. Room (a double for single use) was very small. Nice surroundings with some good brasseries, restaurants etc. Station RER/metro "Nation" at 3 minutes walk. I stayed only one night during a work trip at 158 euros (too much) but price offer during that week (September 2010) was 158 for 3 nights so very very cheap.

We were looking for a hotel near to the Gare De Lyon from where we were heading south, so this hotel, a few minutes from Nation and therefore a short metro ride away was ideally placed. Not a tourist area and therefore maybe not a good choice if you want to be in the middle of activity but an interesting and quiet corner of Paris. Quite good for small bars and restaurants between the hotel and the Bastille or upwards towards Oberkampf. Hotel fine therefore for a short stay in Paris and the people on reception were very helpful. Room a bit larger than the normal Paris shoe-box and bathroom OK too.

This hotel was great for the money. Though a little bit further out than my last visit, it was only three extra metro stops. The local station, Nation, also has direct access to three metro lines. It also gave me a chance to explore a different side of Paris in the adjacent areas of Republique and Belleville on foot. Very colourful. The street was lively but not rowdy. Felt quite safe at night coming back to hotel alone. There were lots of useful services nearby. The rooms were very reasonable for the cost. Quiet and comfy beds. Loved having a bar fridge - especially in summer, along with air con! Staff were helpful yet unobtrusive. Would stay there again.

I really liked the nearby internet access (since hotel didn't have it.) I think the price was very good for the hotel quality - it's not the Ritz, but then you aren't paying for the Ritz. Ver nice sized room for a single person, which is unusual. Hotel is also convenient to metro station.

The hotel is a very basic hotel, suitable for budget travellers. The rooms are rather small (but remember you're in Paris, so you shouldn't expect anything else), but pretty clean and with all the necessary equipements (TV, hair dryer etc.). Breakfast was not included in the price, but you shouldn't worry, you have a great "boulangerie" right next to the hotel, and also lots of restaurants, cafés and shops in the area. The hotel is located on the Boulevard Voltaire, near Place de la Nation. The nearest metro station is Nation, 10 minutes walk from the hotel. If you stay in this hotel you are very close to the Marais neighbourghood and Opéra Bastille. Overall, it is a good basic hotel, and I recommend it. It might not be very suitable for families with children, but if you are looking for a fair budget place, you might give it a try.

Just an excellent value hotel and a great price. I would definitely go back to Prince Eugene - a fantastic bargain. It really was perfect accomodation for us - from service to rooms. I took my mother for her first trip to Paris and was worried I would struggle to get a good hotel within my budget. As it turned out, I needn't have worried. My mother loved Paris and the Prince Eugene and intends to stay in the hotel the next time she visits Paris. If you want a nice hotel, cheap hotel in a quiet but central part of Paris, you can't beat Prince Eugene.

We had been on a Baltic cruise for 12 nights and decided to spend 6 nights in Paris as we had never been there. Took Eurotrain to Gare du Nord then taxi to hotel. Our room at Prince Eugene was small, but clean. We spent 6 nights there and it was more than adequate. We had clean towels and sheets every day. The air conditioning was great. We had a front facing room but never heard any traffic noise. The bathroom was good and had a walk in shower with doors. Our first time in Paris so didn't spend a lot of time in our room. It was good to have an elevator so we didn't have to lug our large suitcases up and down stairs. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very well situated to metro/train station at Nation. Max 30 mins from leaving hotel to centre of Paris. Lots of restaurants, stores, cafes in area. Best restaurant we found was Amarcord on Rue Voltaire, just down from hotel. Reasonably priced for Paris, very friendly and the food was delicious. Pity we only found it on second last night. I would definitely recommend Prince du Eugene hotel. Reasonably priced, friendly and clean.

Without pretending to be a luxury hotel, Hotel du Prince Eugene offers excellent value for money. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the room looked out onto the Boulevard Voltaire. With window closed, the room was surprisingly quiet, and air conditioning was effective. We slept well in comfortable beds, and bathroom facilities were all that we required, though perhaps a shower curtain might be an advantage. Location while not central is excellent - metro station Nation is just a couple of hundred metres up the street, and the hotel is close to charcuteries, patisseries, numerous cafes and even a laundromat! We would certainly recommend this hotel to travellers operating to a slenderish budget.

The staff was quite friendly and helpful and they have coverage 24 hours. Our room was pretty small but quiet, clean and functional. Shower was warm but cramped (par for the course throughout Europe). Located on the east side of the Bastille region and very close to 2 different Metro tracks allowing for easy access to the city centre, Monmantre and Gare de Lyon. We enjoyed our stay there and I would recommend it for a 2 star traveller on a budget.

Hotel Du Prince Eugene was a very nice little hotel. We were surprised how clean and nice the room actually were, because we had read some negative comments about the hotel before. But like I said the hotel was clean, quite big, the bedsize was okay and also the bathroom was really clean! The service was okay, sometimes not the nicest staff, but didn't really matter to us. We didn't take the breakfast, but there was a nice little café around where we had the typical french breakfast :) Also the area where the hotel is located is really good and the metro station is really close and has got good connection with all the other metro lines. All in all: our stay was great and the hotel was really good if you look and the relationship between price and quality.

We were satisfied with our experience at this Hotel. The staff were welcoming, the room was fairly roomy, especially for Paris, very clean with a large bathroom. A bit disconcerting that there was no shower curtain over the bath, hard not to splash! The breakfast was the usual croissants, rolls and coffee with juice. Although located on a busy street, with the double glazing this was not a problem at night because of the airconditioning. The downside for this hotel is that it is not situated in a very handy area, necessitating a metro ride.

Well, as the other travalers wrote, good budget hotel. We got room 405 - twin room, which was quite big + bath. Breakfast was simple served continental - but it was convenient. (8 EURO) We did not check the coffe shop opposite the hotel. The mini market was a great bonus. No restaurants or fast food near by, so you have to eat before returning to the hotel. The hotel is really quiet. Some wine shops at Nation square (Nicolas and others) and at Diderot Blvd. Nation station 3 minutes, but it is a big station - you can walk inside 2-8 minutes before reaching your line... so take 10 minutes aprox from the hotel. Tha station is very convenient, because you can reach almost any place using one line. Tip : to reach Eifel tower - take RER A to the Etoile, and then chance to METRO 6 - it is much faster. (METRO 6 runs from the Nation station, but it takes 45-50 minutes to reach the Trocadero station). Overall - a good budget, a/c, frige, and connectivity to the city. I would mark it as an 8+ in this category - good budget.

Paris is expensive, space is limited. Even so, this is probably one of the best deals you could get for a two star. The receptionists are very kind, especially Mme. ____ (I never learned her name)the proprietress. A great neighborhood, with a very central subway station one (long) block away. One very small concern - the water in my room (104) was "hard" (calcium laden) so it felt like it took forever to rinse soap off. A tiny quibble. The shower water got hot quickly and there was plenty of pressure.

We had an opportunity to make a quick trip to Paris. After a few days of looking for hotels we picked this one. The Plac Nation station gave us a few more options in terms of what trains to get on (A,1,6,9?) then some other hotels a little farther out. Lots of brasseries and cafe's around and ANY direction. The rooms were a bit small but that is life in Paris. The AC worked well and with the windows closed on the street side we didn't hear much if any street noise. Go to the bakery across the street at 0800 for hot out of the oven pastries.

It was my first time at Prince Eugene and in Paris in general. I have to say that, compared with other 2 stars hotels I saw in my staying there, Prince Eugene is the best, as it is cheap and the location is good (nice surroundings and good metro service!). The only thing I didn't like was that the blanket was broken. In any case, it is clean. Nearby there are lot of restaurants or brasserie and also Doner! Our first stay was for 3 days in April 06, this was a surprise birthday present and I had no idea what the hotel was like! Lets just say we were impressed enough to book again for a 4 day stay in June 06 and have just returned from a fantastic break at a lovely hotel. The hotel is spotless, the staff extremely helpful and the area in which the hotel is situated is excellent. The Nation Metro station is only a short walk (5 mins, if even) from the hotel. In the area surrounding the hotel itself there are ample bistros, bakeries and tabacs alongside chemists and everyday convenience stores providing fresh fruit, freshely prepared chicken, water/juice, and for those with a sweet tooth, chocolate in abundance. The rooms are compact but have everything you need, the bathroom has a small shower unit with a great shower, toilet and wash hand basin, what more do you want? If you would like a bath, then I think you would need to request this at time of booking. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone, in fact I already have and they have booked to stay in August for a week through Venere.com!!

Very good little hotel in a very nice neighborhood. It has all the acomodations you need (shower, wc, cable tv and elevator). it is situated just about 100m (110 yards) from the metro station "Place de la Nation" not "Place de la Republique" as is mentioned in Venere web site. From the metro station you can reach any location in mtropolitan area of Paris.

Nice Hotel with small but functional rooms. Room and the shower were very clean and rather quiet. The people at the reception desk were wery kind and helpful. The breakfast was typically "French", but OK. - Because of the close neighbourhood to 2 Metro-Stations ideal for visiting the city by food and by Metro. In summary: A nice weekend in a nice hotel.

Hotel pulito e buona qualità prezzo, un pò piccole le stanze ma confortevoli e funzionali. Non male la zona e comodi gli accessi alla metro

This was a great place to see Paris from. Really close to a Metro station. The staff speak English & are really helpful. Great value considering you get airconditioning, double-glazed windows that block out the street noise, and a good clean bathroom. We'll definitely recommend this place to friends.

It was a little far from tourist Paris, but otherwise no complaints. It was a good, clean, simple, reasonably priced room.
