Hotel was ok and cheap, I think I was lucky anyway because I was given a room on the very top and far from lift and stairs, otherwise I think the place wold be quite noisy. I was alone but I paid for the double room, price difference was minimal and the "double" was a good "single" but that's a common problem in Paris.

The Hotel is really nice just like the personal. The rooms are not too big but very nice and air-conditioned. You can use a safe for free! The Hotel is about 3 minutes away from the Metro and the surrounding area is okay but you should maybe not stay there in the evening if you are a single woman. Some guys there are really brash. I really liked the central position and the nice service. The price is quite okay!

The hotel was very close to the metro stop and so it was easy to get around Paris. The staff was helpful. Two things to really look out for: 1. leave your key at the front desk when you leave the hotel and 2. Check out by the time they tell you. They are strick about that. Other than that, the location was ok. There were a few bars and restaurants in the area.

I had read the reviews about the drain noises, but I didn't realize exactly how loud the noises in this hotel were. We were the first room, so between the drain noises (which seemed amplified by the acoustics of the bathroom), the metro rumbling underneath the hotel, the people going up and down stairs loudly, and the sirens that never stopped outside- it was impossible to get sleep without ear plugs. Overall the hotel was clean and safe, but overly expensive for the quality of the rooms. I don't know how it compares to other hotels in the area, since Paris is overall just expensive. On the positive, the desk staff spoke English very well, and were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was very accommodating when our 3 person reservation needed to be changed to a 2 person room. Rooms were very clean and provided the necessities (hair dryer, towels, cups, hangers, etc). Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The directions to get from the airport to hotel were incomplete, but that was from the booking website rather than the hotel. Loud family next door was disruptive & the noise carried into our room.

This was a good relatively enexpensive hotel and we enjoyed it. The man at the desk on day shift taught us all about the subway (metro) and after that we went all over the city easily and inexpensively. The room was small but clean and we loved it.

I just stayed there one night, but it was very clean and the staff very friendly. The a/c was not working, but it wasn't too hot so that was OK. The neighborhood has a lot of wholesale shoe stores and was fun to walk through. The bathroom was very spacious for a Paris hotel.

Nice hotel with kind staff, very convenient location to move around Paris, with only two comments: 1) it is not in the "in the center of Marais" 2) too bad for the smoking rooms (we asked for non-smoking).

A group of four middle-aged women on the loose for a weekend in Paris! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), we happened to choose the weekend of the Rugby World Cup! However, fans were well-behaved and there was a great atmosphere in the city. The hotel was fairly central and we walked everywhere! Staff very friendly and recommended a great restaurant. Would love to return one day.

It was a nice 2-star hotel, but rated for 3 stars. The wi-fi did not work in our room although was available in the lobby. The hotel is fairly convenient to transportation lines to both CDG and Orly as well as the main train lines. Not situated in a main tourist area of the city but many adequate restaurants are within an easy walking distance.

We have been to Paris many times so we knew the rooms would be small. We were still surprised when a triple room was a double with another bed at the foot of the twin beds. Fortunately we do not spend much time in our room because it was hard to move without going across the beds. The location was excellent and so convenient to the the Metro. We found that the staff changed each day so we never saw the same desk clerk more than once but we felt safe and enjoyed a clean air conditioned room. The elevator is very small and slow so expect to take your time or walk stairs.

Overall good. Stayed with my wife and two kids, 9,14. It was good. Breakfast was good. Well located. Bathroom was clean and had a hand shower wich was uncomfortable to use, but it's similar to other hotels. Only bad thing is to avoid booking taxi with the reception. They promise a taxi and it turns out to be a shuttle more expensive than a regular cab! In general I recommend staying.

Before committing to an online reservation, I rang the Hotel Plat Etain to ask if they could accommodate the following: two non-smoking rooms next to each other (a triple and a double, to sleep two adults and four children); parking on site; and a cot for an infant. The man with whom I spoke, spoke English well but with a heavy accent. Upon receiving assurances that my requests would be satisified, I committed to the reservation. Upon arrival, we were given one small room with four single beds and a smaller room down the hall with a double bed. Both rooms appeared clean, but the smaller room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. There was no infant cot in either room. The parking facilities were several blocks away, and they were a public car park that charged 24 euro per day. I expressed my disappointment to the desk person that what I had requested and was promised was far different than what was offered upon our arrival. He stated unequivocally that the room did not smell of smoke (I am unsure how he could smell a top-floor room from the ground floor). When I suggested he go smell the room for himself, he refused, still insistent that the room had no smell of smoke. He also said that there was no way that anyone at the hotel had promised rooms next to each other or parking on site. He also said that I had never requested a cot. When I asked to speak with the manager, he said he was the manager, with the name of Gagni (Gahn-yee). After much discussion, he finally offered the room next to the 4-bed room. This room did not smell of cigarettes, but it smelled of chemicals. I explained to him that we have a son with asthma, so this room also was unacceptable. I suggested to Gagni that, since both of the second rooms offered were unacceptable, we could simply use the 4-bed room for our 1-night stay and forget about the second room. A tight squeeze for one night seemed an acceptable compromise to us. He said that was quite impossible and that I would be cha

Plat D'Etain is great value for the money - a safe and clean hotel in an extremely convenient location next to several major subway lines. Room was small but clean and had updated plumbing; staff spoke English and was helpful and friendly. Having a supermarket very nearby was another plus, and I was able to walk to major attractions such as the Louvre or the department stores on Haussman, it may be too far for older travelers/those with kids but cabs would be a relatively inexpensive alternative. Hotel's elevator is very small and some noise can be heard through walls/doors, but this is to be expected for a Paris hotel in the $100USD range.

We had such an enjoyable stay in Paris. The hotel was in an excellent location, close to two Metro stations and within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and also spoke English. On our last morning the person at the front desk even called to see if we wanted coffee. I read all the comments left for this hotel, and don't understand the negative ones at all. This hotel is excellent value for the money.

Very good location, walking distance to Metro. we got there at 8am and they allowed us to check in, staff was friendly and spoke good english. it would've been nice to have a shower rather than just a tub. it needs a major renovation and updating but its clean. in comparison to American Hotels, it would be a couple of notches below Motel 6 ! In comparison to other Paris Hotels, price was good, staff friendly and helpful. location very good and safe. I would reccomend it if you just need a place to crash and need easy access to Metro.

No, esta era la primera vez en Paris. 7 dias No recomendaria este hotel a nadie. El personal no fue para nada amigable y hasta el ultimo momento trataron de sacar provecho hasta para llamar el taxi. Not worthy of 3 stars, do they ever reevaluate? Their double room was smaller than any single I've stayed in, we couldn't walk through without putting our luggage on the bed. Old makeshift plywood furnishing. We stayed over the weekend, and it was very noisy. My girlfriend got some makeup on a hand towel, and the cleaning lady told the desk and the owner, they made a scene, and I had to talk them down from 30 to 20 euros for a single old, cheap towel. I was worried they were going to try to charge me for their already cracked shower door. Awful.

** Good points ** The hotel is in an excellent position, 150 meter from the Metro station (with 3 different lines). The staff was kind and helpful. Good price (79 euros for a double room) ** Bad points ** The cleanliness of rooms was not the best I have ever met if you consider within 8 days they never changed the bed sheet... The double room is really small, no comfortable if you have some cumbersome baggage. Furthermore the bed: it was so small, I think it was not a double bed, but a single and half one; it was narrow and short, not comfortable. The breakfast is not included within the reservation (it was not so clear in the web page) and very expensive (9 extra euros for one person).

We were a family of four adults and we thought the room was nicer than what we had expected. It was smoke free! We had plenty of room for our luggage, comfortable beds, a large bathroom, small refrigerator, near by grocery store and very close to the metro. I wish the tub and hand held shower had a shower curtain, but we managed fine. Most of all I would like to thank the gentleman behind the desk who had traveled to New Orleans. He turned what could have been a disaster vacation and helped make our trip to France and Paris more enjoyable with his suggestions, directions, and help getting me to a hospital and getting us an airport shuttle at the last minute. His English was excellent as was his service. I can't thank him enough for all his help. All in all I found the French people very friendly and helpful to an American with very bad French. One metro employee personally escorted us to find the right tunnel to get our train and one woman on the metro waited while I slowly walked up the flight of steps and held the door for me. The people at the hospital were very kind. I was very impressed with the kindness and hospitality of the French people I came in contact with. It all started with this gentleman at this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful visit.

The room we had reserved was not available. They offered us free breakfast. We had to stay for one night in a very small room. They promissed us that next day our luggage will be removed by them. The next day they told us that we had to do it by ourselves, because the man didn't appear because of a strike. Breakfast was very simple. we took it outside. According to their website was the location of the hotel in the Marais, that's not right; it is in the Center. Besides the above problems the location was very good, the prize for a three person room cheap.

The room is smaller than the photo on website. I don't really know why they can post the photos on the website like that. also they metion their bathroom is with bathtub, actually it's not in all the rooms. they should metion that on website. They dont' really tell customers that breakfast is not included, after I arrived, they just told me it costs 9 euro. Also I can't use the wireless internet in my room, I have asked the counter about the question, they didn't really try to understand what the problem was. I do think all the hotels should mention all the details on website and tell the truth. I will not stay in this hotel again.

This is an average hotel well situated to good communications. Think most revievs seems accurate to our experience but would like to add two points of interest. The breakfast is not very impressive, have your breakfast out, it is close to the financial district so there will be no problems finding a better place for breakfast on your own. And secondly.. a funny thing about the street where the hotel is residing is that it seems like it is dedicated to women with a fetish for shoe-shopping..

Perhaps you should include on the website that the hotel is in the red-light district of Paris! The rooms were extremelly small and not modern at all. I could feel the springs in the bed. When I wanted to check out early because I was not at all comfortable living in that area I was charged extra! I was also charged 10 Euro for phone calls even though I was using a phone cards. Staying at Plat D'Etain was an absolutely horrible experience. I will never book from this site again because I feel that they tookk advantage of the fact that I was not familiar with Paris.

This "budget" hotel completely ripped us off. the guy at the front desk charged us almost twice the amount that he had told us when checking in and then pretended he had told us that (new) price originally. they said they had wireless internet, which the receptionist finally admitted to me was a lie after i kept asking him how to hook up to it. the room was incredibly small, there was no shower curtain, and the comforters were stained with something...i preferred not to think about what it might be. don't get the breakfast, it's a total rip off.

Vary friendly and helpful staff in a very central location. We didn't have the breakfast as it seemed a bit expensive, but there are many cafes nearby. There was air conditioning in the rooms but no explanation about how to use it. The furniture/woodwork in the rooms was unusual and interesting; however it needed painting. We liked the pictures. We couldn't make the English language T.V. channel work. Mattresses are quite firm; excellent for those who like firm mattreses. Lovely sheets. Room doors quite heavy; lift/elevator very small. We would definitely go there again.

We arrived on monday 27th of june. We first got a double room which really smelled because of smoking, but after demanding we easily got a new clean, nice room. Very comfortable with airconditioning. We had asked for (and had also been promised) a room with "queen bed", one large bed, but we got a room with to beds put together. Overall we were very satisfied. We found breakfast at 9 euros too expensive, so we ate at cafés in the surroundings.

The hotel is an average Paris hotel, not too much space inside, but this one is clean. The staff was welcoming and able to handle questions. The room was OK sized, the bathroom was well maintained. The elevator was a joke, as almost in all hotels in Paris - size of birdcage. Avoid room 201 and 301: the neonsign "Hotel" provides almost daylight during the night. The surroundings are OK, the metro station (Strasbourg St Denis) is 50 m away and is located on 3 major lines, taking you directly to important places. The brekfast is OK, but for 9 EUR which is the price of the breakfast per person you get the same stuff for 2 people in the corner coffee shop. would come back again

And there is no quiet backyard, because the backyard is open. I'm very sensitive with traffic noise so it was a bit too much. The rooms were perfect clean and big enough for us under the roof. The bathroom was perfect.

We were literally thrown out of this hotel! I had booked for 2 nights. After the 1st night, I asked at the desk if we could have a 3rd night. I was assured that it would be no problem. I wanted to sign something to make sure there was no problem. The clerk at the desk said it wasn't necessary. So my family and I go out sightseeing on the 31st, thinking we had the room for another night. We returned to the hotel at midnight the 31st, and the desk clerk was upset, wanting to know hwere we have been. He said they were trying to contact us all day, which would be impossible. They took all of our belongings from the room, and filled up plastic trash bags with our stuff, and set them out in the lobby. The clerk was able to get us a room down the street. So at 1:00am we are wheeling our luggage down the block. The clerk at the new hotel was very accomodating. The clerk at Plat d'Etain said goodbye, that he was sorry etc., etc. He never asked for us to pay anything at that point. The next day, more sightseeing, and we get back to the 2nd hotel around 6:00. The desk clerk there said the owner of the Plat d'Etain wanted us to settle our bill. We told the owner of the 2nd hotel what had happened, and he was very sympathetic, and even suggested that we might be able to have the whole thing discounted, saying that's the least they can do. Well the owner comes down to the 2nd hotel, and before we could say anything, he accuses us of running out on the bill! He was extremely nasty and arrogant, and threatened to call the police if we didn't paying. We of course got pretty angry. we just couldn't beleive this was happening. We thought is was some kind of very bad joke. But he was very serious, accusing us of trying to run out from paying the bill. He even maade a couple of very sarcastic remarks about "you Americans." That we should "go the hell back to your Bushland.!" The resaon that I have delayed writing this is because I have been very angry. It wa

The location is within central Paris and therefore very convenient. Less than 5 minutes to metro station. There is a Monoprix close by for buying food/drinks at economic prices. The closest metro station is only 3 stops from Gare du Nord which makes it very easy from CDG airport or Eurostar. Our triple room was clean with all the basics, and was quite spacious for the price, the bed mattress wasnt the best (felt pretty old) but it was ok. The doors do close with a loud noise unless you purposely close it gently, as such when the neighbours leave in the morning or come back at night you hear a slew of loud slamming. Breakfast is available but wasnt included in the price so we didnt try. I thought this was a very decent place to stay on a budget.

All went quite well for our one nite stay. However, when the room was booked, it was to include breakfast (B&B). But they charged us an additional amount (8 euros ea.)for the breakfast. I brought this to the managers attention, but he did not comply saying it was not booked that way. We decided to spend 3 nites elsewhere due to this problem.

The room they gave us was a double plus an addtional single bed so it was small for 3 people. Although they offered to change another one on the 3rd day after compliant but we were leaving soon. The price should have been reduced as it was not a real triple room. In general the room and toilet was clean and the hotel is in a great location (2 mins by walk to metro station). The location is close to shopping area and tourist spots by metro.

This was in total a good hotel for a cheap price. I've stayed in better hotels, but then they were much more expensive. The staff was not overly friendly, but correct. If we hadn't had a print-out of our booking through venere.com, though, stating that breakfast was included, they would probably have charged us extra for breakfast. What bothered us the most was that they were always smoking in the lobby, but that's France; they smoke everywhere. :-) The buffet breakfast was very good compared to many hotels in Paris and you could also have it brought to your room. The room was very small, much smaller than in the only photo available, but the bathroom was surprisingly big. We had a room facing the backyard, and it was rather quiet even if you could hear some traffic. Noisy neighbours could be overheard, but we really disturbed only one night, by a group of young people in the nearby room.

I sponsored five of my friends for a trip to Paris. As the person paying for the entire trip, I found the accommodations unacceptable. Especially disturbing was that one room I reserved was without heat. My two friends were moved three of the four nights of our stay because EACH room had no heat. Finally, a hotel worker stated a section of the hotel's heating system was broken and the hotel was sold out in the other sections of the building. Translation: I paid for my friends to stay in cold rooms, and to be inconvenienced to the extent of having to move every night, except one, and without any improvement as a result of the moves. Also, the hotel workers who were of Indian descent were extremely rude and uncooperative. The hotel worker from Romania was excellent, as were the cleaning staff and the lady who worked in the breakfast area. As a result of the negative experiences, I do not think I will stay at this facility again, nor will I recommend it to anyone I know. It leaves a sour feeling to spend money for a room with no working heat in the middle of winter...

For the money (less than £20 per night) this hotel was a great value with no frills. It was very near a metro stop (1 min walk to Strasbourg St Denis) and only a 15 minute walk from Notre Dame which is fairly central. The reception staff were very helpful and allowed me to use the hotel phone for free to make a local call.

This hotel is located closeto everything. You must learn the metro system and purchase a carte de orange to maximize your time in Paris. The staff at this hotel were most helpful and kind. The only problem we had was upon arrival, our room was filthy. Hair on the sheets, no shower door and the bathroom door did not close. We were compensated in price for this by the manager who was very sympathetic. The hotl was sold out so we cold not change rooms. ALWAYS request a room on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor NOT ROOM 105 !!!!

The hotel was adequate, close to metro, etc. The only major complaint we had is when we requested a cab to go to the airport, the hotel did not summon a regular city cab (and we didn't notice until we were well on our way). We ended up paying twice what we should have for the ride. Make sure the cab has a meter!

We paid 58 Euros (£40) a night and for such a good central location near the Marais etc this was an absolute bargain. The room was small and a little worn, but was clean and well equipped with a decent wardrobe, dressing table, mirror, tv, mini-bar etc. The bathroom was very spacious, which made up for it: it had a good sized bath and a good hot shower. There may have been bigger rooms that we did not see. I would definitely stay at the Plat D'Etain again if the price were the same. However, if I had to pay E80+ for the same size room, I wouldn't be quite so happy.

The hotel is central, but in a quiet street, and i would say was excellent value for money for a city hotel. we were a party of 6 over for the rugby, and some shopping, and it was ideal.

We stayed for a weekend in january, and were extremely satisfied with everything about the hotel. Good, clean rooms with every necessity and at a perfect location, only a one minute walk from the Strasbourg-St. Denis metrostation, that will take you on several different lines. The staff were very helpful and spoke perfect english. We didn't have the hotel's breakfast, so can't really comment on that.

Although we tried to clear up complications regarding our status (B&B, not room only) before leaving, there was still a great lot of confusion leading to much unneeded embarassment. The staff didn't feel any need to be helpful in the least, and despite leaving "do not disturb" signs on the door, entered the room every day. The safe was broken in the room, but the reception wouldn't accept any responsibility for valuables or even attempt to look for a remedy. Every morning at 8 o'clock we were awoken by builders doing renovations on our floor. Despite this no offer of apology or attempt to change rooms was made despite our complaints. These things as well as the matter of a large neon sign glowing profusely every night outside our window, twinned with the luxury (sarcasm) of curtains that would not meet combined to make our stay hard work instead of "cheap and cheerful". We have stayed in Paris before and this hotel although marginally cheaper did not live up to the hype. Nice location though.
