Location conveniently close to RER and metro. Noisy traffic. Stairs to reception difficult to maneuver with large suitcases but staff will help. Close to bistros and bakeries for breakfast. Staff helpful regarding directions to sites but not for restaurants. Overall good value and convenient to transportation.

Was pleasantly surprised at how good this hotel was! Fantastic little room with everything you need for a budget stay in Paris. Don't let the location fool you - the metro entrance is literally outside the front door and you also have the RER B line only a few metres away for airport connections. I would highly recommend Du Lion for anyone looking for an excellent budget choice.

Nice room, the bathroom was big but the shower was small but overall it was great. I was lucky I got a little view of Eiffel Tower from my room. The location was perfect, quiet, and very close to metro station. Also same line to CDG airport and Gare Du Nord. The receptions were very friendly and helpful.

It is in an excellent location for turists arriving at both Charles de Gaulle and Orly airport. Indeed,it is very near to a station of RER B, which connects Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris city, and the final stop of the bus which connects Orly airport to Paris city. Moreover,it is well connected to all Paris locations and 20 min walking distance from St. Michel and the Latin quartier.

Hotel located in an interesting area of the 14th arrondissement, not frequented by mobs of tourists. Many good restaurants and cafes right outside the door of the hotel or within a few minutes walk. Metro stop a few steps from the door; RER B line stops around the corner. Hotel has small but very clean rooms. Rooms on the seventh and eighth floor are larger and are preferable to those on lower floors.

Small room, tidy but old wallpaper. Small toilet without shower curtain so soon very wet. We stayed at 6th level. No sounds from within the building, not even the elevator, some street noise at day and fairly silent by night. We didnt try their brekfast, 9 euro extra per person. There is a good selection of bakeries and cafes etc in the neighbourhood. 5 min walk to the nearest Metro and RER (to Ch d Gaulle, and a connection to Orly). Ca 10 min by RER to Notre Dame. Short walk to Luxembourg garden, ca 20 min walk to Pantheon. The staff was friendly. Stair case up to the reception and very small elevator so not recommended for those with baby strollers.

Friendly staff, a basic clean quiet room. Paris is expensive so an option like Hotel Du Lion is a good idea. I was travelling alone and so found the small room OK. The location is good - very close to the RER from Gare du Nord. Rue Daguerre is full of restaurants, shops and a supermarket. The breakfast is expensive so I ate across the road at the Cafe Daguerre. Perhaps not a hotel to spend a romantic weekend in, but is OK if you're travelling alone or don't mind a basic room. No fridge or kettle in the room, but you're surrounded by cafes.

By far the best hotel experience I have had in Paris. Notoriously small rooms in Paris would render this room "spacious." Clean, comfortable, newly renovated, excellent staff, and a view of the Eiffel Tower! What else could you ask for? Except maybe a good restaurant nearby and I would recommend the Che Papa, southeast French cuisine...excellent (and recommended by the staff).

Am very pleased with our stay in Paris, the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. You will feel the comfortable homy atmosphere when you arrive there. It is conveniently located near an RER station that has lift access (helps a lot with that big old luggage). A supermarket is just infront of the hotel, very near to halal food restaurant selling kebabs etc - mcDonalds is just 2 doors away. Got cafe under the hotel and another one accross the street. A lift is available at lobby but you have to climb a 1 storey staircase. Bottom line, this is an excellent value for money hotel and I'm already recommending it to my family and friends.

That is a cute 2 star hotel located next to subway, there could not possible be a better place. RER train station is also in 1-minute-walk range (to airport). The only problem seems to be those sheer steps you gotta take to get the reception. It is on the first floor of the building.

Room was larger than I'd have expected for a 2* hotel. WiFi wasn't advertised or mentioned; I had to ask when I noticed a sticker in the lobby -- it was free and worked well. Only 2 disadvantages: no shower curtain, so you have to shower sitting down, and a flight of stairs to reach the lobby, problematic if you have a lot of luggage.

Pleasantly surprised by the location. Very convenient to public transportation. 2 minute walk from Denfert Rochereau stop on the M4 and M6 underground train lines. Suburban train RerB that also stops at both CDG airpot and Gare du Nord stops there as well. Took me 25 minutes to get there on the M4 train from Gare du Nord. My dad arrived at CDG and it took him approximately 45 minutes via the RerB train. 15 to 20 minute bus ride directly to Notre Dame. Located across the street from a long market street full of fresh produce, meat, seafood, flowers and great restaurants. Across the street from the entrance to the Catacombs. Despite being on a busy street, I didn't notice much street noise from our 3rd story room.

Hotel is well located in desirable area & close to public transport with Metro entrance right outside door. Many cafes in area with one by hotel entrance. Adequate accommodation given rating, although better beakfast options available in local cafes. While staying, I made a booking for a one night return to Paris on 19/9/08 only to find on arrival our booking had been cancelled as credit card details not held which was incorrect. Little effort made at first to book alternative hotel until I insisted and no offer made to meet price difference. Unfortunately this mistake has affected our rating of the hotel.

We had a 'balcony' room on the 6th floor and always took the stairs so we could eat more without guilt. The room was tiny but with a pretty view of the Eiffel Tower. Double Room on Fifth floor. Balcony room This room was amazing! Two doors out to the balcony with a complete view of the tower. The rooms are small but that is expected in Paris. It is clean and was great for my friend and me. The downfall would the winding stairs from the street to the reception area. When you exit the metro station look for the Indiana Bar on the corner. We stayed at Hotel Du Lion for 3 nights, not really knowing what to expect but hoping for the best. It is in a convenient location, 1 block from the Denfert-Rochereau Metro station and from the entrance to the Paris Catacombs. The hotel is on the second floor above a bar, but noise was not an issue. From the entrance on the ground level, there is a long, narrow winding staircase to the reception area. The woman at the desk was friendly and checked us in to a room on the 8th floor. There is a very small elevator servicing all floors. Our room was small, and on the corner of the building, so 1/4 of the room was sloped because of the roof, making an already small room even smaller. However, we were only there to sleep, therefore very welcoming at the end of very long sightseeing days. There is a breakfast room serving continental breakfast but it wasn't included in our room rate so we didn't take advantage of it. There are numerous cafes and bakeries in the immediate area that are worth exploring. The bakery just around the corner has the most delicious croissants! I felt safe in the area, coming back later at night wasn't a problem. The receptionist was also very helpful in giving us directions. I would recommend this hotel -- it's a 2 star hotel, but clean, convenient and reasonable for being so close to the city centre.

We stayed 4 nights and everything was more than ok. Yes, the room was rather small, but spacious enough and the bed... for about 3-4 persons. And very clean, with towels changed every day, the room and bathroom cleaned every day etc. We stayed in the past in more expensive hotels but, beside room's dimensions, there were no differences. Also, right there is the tram/bus/RER station Denfert Rochereau, station that can provide you ways to go anywhere in Paris and surroundings. The only hotel that replyed to my e-mails. All of them :) Three advices: 1. Definetely get the park (is at the back of the hotel), it's only 10 euro/day and use RATP. 2. Forget about the breakfast. Downstairs there are quite a few places to eat real food. 3. Ask for a higher floor room as possible (7th, 8th) and as near to the intersection (east) as possible (it will give you quite a view on Tour Eiffel and Montparnase Tower). Definitely would go there again.

Quite basic hotel, but very clean generally! Breakfast is "Continental" to the extreme, with only a smallish packet of "Kellogs" to break the monotony of coffee, croissant, cheese & jam!!! Still, you pay for what you get and on that basis , and the mind bogglin' prices in Paris generally, the "Lion" was not too bad. I would suggest that the hotel is not the type of place you would stay in during the day, but as a base for further excursions, - ideal!!! We stayed for seven nights and found we could quite safely wander out in late evening and seek out restaurants nearby. As a really last desperate choice if your late back from the City centre, there is a Mcdonalds' slap bang next to the Hotel.(Unsurpringly the 'burgers taste the same as back home!!) Read all the booklets on Paris and do what they suggest regarding buying "carnets" for your Metro/RER journeys, ask for Senior citizens reductions in Museums, etc. That was our Third and final visit to Paris and this time we made sure we missed nothing!! Good Luck

Excellent choice if your staying in Paris. I have been to Paris 3 times, and this is by far the best location for the price your paying. You can walk to Notre Dame in 20 minutes, the latin quarter in 15 and the catacombs are across the road. Transport wise, Gare de lyon is 50 metres away and there is a metro stop imediately outside the front of the hotel. Supermarket is across the road, along with an excellent organic bakery! The hotel doesn't look fabulous, but the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, modern tvs and our room even had a balcony. The only down side of this place is the walls are thin. You can hear everything happening in the next room - I mean everything (note to the couple next door). One word of warning - don't get into the elevator with any more than 2 people otherwise you may find yourself stuck in there (although breifly) like we did! All the staff on reception we very friendly and spoke exceptional english. Particularly the guy during the day who has a wacky personality and great sense of humour. Overall, an excellent choice.

Be ready to drag your baggage up from the street to the reception (elevator after that), and the rooms are simple, plain and reasonably clean. Although the hotel faces a very busy street, noise isn't as bad as expected because windows on the street side are heavy and shut out most noise. Location is central, right on the RER B line and a metro line; you can enter either right outside the front door. Good spot to stay a last night before departing for CDG airport.

Very helpful staff, allowed us to leave our bags for a couple of hours after checking out. Very good location for the Station, and clean, pleasant rooms.

Nice hotel, public areas are OK , although not great, room was slightly anonymous but modern and confortable, with good-sized bathroom. Cable TV ia available without charge, and the view from the window was just fantastic (Tour Montparnasse and Tour Eiffel on the same line of sight!). I would happily go back here.

Perfect location, no-fuss hotel, saved my Week-End due to RER proximity and possibility to take a room for shower right when I arrive in the morning after 13hour flight.

STAYED IN PARIS FOR 4 NIGHTS AND THIS HOTEL WAS BRILLIANT ! IT WAS VERY CLEAN TIDY AND WELCOMING. THE LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT AND CONVENIENT FOR THE METRO STATION WHICH WAS LOCATED JUST ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THE HOTEL, WHICH ENABLED YOU TO ACCESS ANY PART OF THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY WITH EASE.WE WOULD HIGHTLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR A STAY IN PARIS !!

We really enjoyed our stay at Du Lion! Nice, clean, quiet (windows closed!)hotel, good value for money. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good location, especially if you travel via Orly airport; the Orly-bus stops just across the street. Metro right on the doorstep, RER by the bus stop, lots of nice restaurants and shops in the neighbourhood. Hotel not suitable for disabled persons, since you have to walk the steps to the 1. floor/ reception, where the lift takes you further up. Otherwise this hotel should be a good choice for anybody on the outlook for a nice place to stay for less money. We'll check in at Du Lion on our next trip to Paris!

It's a comfortable hotel, employees welcomed us very frindly. If you land in Orly is very convenient, 25-30 min of RER to get there, and also very close to downtown using Metro. Quality vs Price is very good.

If you are looking for a simple, not luxurious hotel. located in one of the BEST arrondissements in Paris, then this is the right place for you. Do not expect for great services or too spacious rooms. But they´re clean, quiet, heated and cozy. Maybe a little refigerator in the room is the only thing lacking.

This is a very convenient hotel for getting to from the Eurostar as it is on a direct metro line from the Gard du Nord. The location is also convenient since there is a post office near by, bus stops, many shops and phone boxes. I found the staff very friendly; and the room was very cleaned and tidied up. I would go there again.

I had the opportunity to travel through a series of hostels and small hotels in Europe during one month vacation, and sincerely, Du Lion is one of the hotels which I strongly recommend to my friends, and where, for sure I will return in my next trip to Paris. Maybe the only things to improve are a bit of training to the guys that stay over night, who are willing to help, but they need a little more expertise in managing international phone numbers, credit cards, etc. Second it would be useful to count with a computer with access to internet at the counter in order to confirm or change trip reservations. Finally, even though I had the chance to stay at hotels of international chains, the sense of home of Hotel Du Lion is very much confortable- her administrator resumes all the hospitality of the french people, with a great smile and friendship to the foreigner.

I got what I expected for the price, the rooms are ok, the personnel very friendly and helpful. One thing I really deplored: the rooms are well soundproof against the street (good windows), but poorly against each other. The phone ringing in the next room at 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30, followed by my neighbor's shower sounding as if he was in *my* bathroom, not his, made the night not quite as reposeful as it could have been.
