Hotel Du Globe - Paris
15 Rue Des Quatre-vents - Paris
877-662-6988The very special atmosphere of this 17th century hotel will seduce you. The building has been recently renovated and is located only a few steps from Notre-Dame or the splendid Luxembourg gardens.
The Saint Germain atmosphere is right here, with the shops, typical Parisian cafés and terraces round the corner.

The room on the first night was tiny and box-like. It was on the ground floor by the breakfast area and reception. I'm not sure I slept more than 5 minutes all night. SO NOISY. The second night we were moved to a lovely room on the 3rd floor. This was really lovely and quiet.

After several years, this is my first negative review of a Venere booking. We have a favourite latin quarter hotel nearby to Hotel Du Globe which cannot be booked through Venere but my wife persuaded me that we should stay at a more up market hotel. The pphotographs on Venere and the Hotel site suggested that this is what it was. In reality, Du Globe is the product of cramming far too many rooms into a very small building. The rooms are tiny, reached by very narrow corridors. There were no facilities to store clothes and the shower room and toilet so small one person could only use the sink by standing in the doorway. Anyone marginally overweight would have been unable to use these or negotiate the corridors. In all other respects the hotel was fine, clean, nicely decorated, very well situated and all the staff were courteous and helpful. In addition, the shuttle service provided by the hotel to and from the airport was poor, slow and over priced (use a taxi)and I have sincere doubts about the provision for escape in event of fire.

The rooms are very small. Hotel was nothing like the appearance on the website. Very serious was that our bed turned out to have bedbugs. Attempts to complain to management were not taken seriously and only once some spraying was done. We ended up not being able to sleep, and could not move because of shortage of accommodation elsewhere in Paris.

The location of the hotel is excellent, all major sights are in walking distance, Metro is nearby and the hotel has some Parisien charme, however, the room we stayed in was very small and so was the bathroom. I would recommend the hotel for a stay of one or two nights, but if you stay for longer (and bring some luggage) better look for something else (or inform the staff of the hotel, they might have bigger rooms, too)

Location was perfect for walking and metro travel; plenty of things to see and do within blocks of the hotel. What was not mentioned until we got to the hotel was the fact there was no lift and we were on the top floor, so any traveller with a lot of luggage would have difficulties. Very small bathroom. Because of this, we would look into other properties for our next visit unless we would be guaranteed a lower floor.

Having already read other reports was not expecting the best. Greeting on arrival was cool so decided to be extra friendly & that did get better results ! Would have liked to suggest improvements on the cupboard which was the bathroom, so tiny that even hanging up a towel was impossible - hooks needed - however decided against as obviously the staff would not have been open to criticism or suggestions ! Room with double bed was just big enough for me, I'm slim & short but with another would have meant taking turns out of bed to wash/dress to avoid crashing into each other.Do not attempt staying with more luggage than an over night bag - no room for more. Opposite the hotel, as in 5 meters, was a night club that kept up music/noise until 4 in the morning - be warned & take ear plugs if you do want to sleep ! Exchanged reports with others on nearby small hotels/rooms & found Du Globe at least cheaper so something to it's advantage.

Hotel du Globe is a wonderfully atmospheric mediaeval hotel in a fantastic part of Paris, but is definitely not for the broken winded or claustrophobic. I loved it, but the narrow vertiginous and winding staircase and the narrow corridors and tiny rooms would not suit everybody.

Small and compact but bags of charm and character. Really good location in the heart of paris.

The staff at Hotel Du Globe was patient and courteous. (A-grade staff) The bath in our double room was more like a closet with a banged-up folding door. The sink was cracked, toilet and sink plumbing were exposed, shower cabinet had black fungus and 'difficult' doors. While this hotel's location is IDEAL, and the decor is quaint/tidy, I would only use this Hotel as either a single traveler or a couple of very thin travelers. American families will most likely find the spaciousness (or lack thereof) to be a joke. The breakfast offered by this hotel is a respectable value when compared to the local cafe fare and apparently NOT mandatory as I've previously read.

The staff were lovely, particularly the night staff, Mme. Lydie. It was helpful to speak some french, though. The hotel is in a wonderful location but one must already have metro maps, a walking map, etc., because the Gallerie Lafayette map the hotel provides has very few side streets listed, which is fatal in Paris. There is no liuft and the steps are daunting--tiny and wrapped around a circularcentral well. The " breakfast room" actually consists of three tiny tables set up in the small area in frront of the reception desk. Breakfast is awful--cold cereal and old coffee still warming on a burner. There is no lobby proper or lounge space to relieve the cramped feeling of the rooms. The room was clean but tiny, and the bath separated only by a curtain. There was inadequate air-conditioning and no ventilation as the window opened to a blocked air shaft. The mattress was poor. At half the price this might be a bargain if comfort were less of an issue than cost, but at 130 euros it is not appealing.

Some rooms are much bigger than others and unfortunately we we're dealt a tiny room, there is a club across the road which play music late if you are facing the street. The area is very central however but still over priced, especially with breakfast at €10 each. Much nicer to go elsewhere for morning coffee...

Firstly a great location. Given the quality of the hotel I don't believe it was great value for money however. Pictures looked great on the website, but our room had no windows, dirty carpets and the duvet cover looked like it hadn't been cleaned in 30 years. The staff were polite but I wouldn't go so far as to say they were friendly. Also, the location of this hotel is near St Sulpice not where it's located on the venere map. In summary, there are much better hotels in the same location which are similarly priced.

The hotel room we stayed at didn't looked as the one in the internet (it was smaller) The receptionist offered us breakfast in their tiny reception area, we thought it was included in the hotel room, but when we checked out, they charged us 10 euros per person for the breakfast.
