The room was very small, not suitable at all for 2 people.. As for the bathroom the ONLY way to describe it is RIDICULOUS!!! If you were a size 12 or larger you would be battling to sit on the toilet and you would have to shower with the doors open.. They have made 2 rooms out of what should be 1. Totally overpriced!!!.. Only positive was the bed it was great, I guess something had to make up for the rest.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Design Sorbonne. It is in a great location close to transport links, with lots of options for eating and drinking in easy reach by foot. Despite being fairly central the hotel was very peaceful - we had a room overlooking the inner courtyard, and there was no noise at all from the street (to be honest, the street was quiet anyway so that's not a surprise!). Staff were very helpful and friendly and every part of the hotel we saw was spotless. The rooms are not huge, but ours had everything we needed and in a popular city we never expect a big room anyway. If we visit Paris again (and my fingers are crossed!) we would definitely book this hotel again - it was perfect for us.

Fantastic location and extremely easy to get to from International Airport. Staff were lovely and very helpful. They were kind enough to upgrade our room and let us check-in much earlier than normal, which was a godsend after our long haul flight. Room was quite small, but very clean and comfortable.

Clearly the reason for the hotel received this award, as to the warmth of its design, quality of care, location and services. It is highly recommended hotel for couples wanting to enjoy the charm of Paris. Were highly consistent with our lodging in the week we were there. Only a little space limitation of the elevator and the hallways of the rooms.

This is a lovely small hotel in a good quiet position and very convenient for the metro and a stone's throw from the lovely Luxembourg Gardens. I have stayed here a few times and it is consistently very good. The area is very safe and travelling alone this is a plus. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return.

We were two women travelling so the required twin beds made the room a bit small, but it had everything we needed and was suitable since we spent little time in the room. The hotel is well located for sightseeing but less well located if your trip is to shop. We were sightseeing so we found the location very accessible to everything.

Hotel de la Sorbonne is a nice little bijoux hotel, tastefully done and each room has a Mac which functions as a TV and computer. Internet is free of charge which is great. The room has very high ceilings and romantic, but the downside is its size. The lift is the smallest of all lifts I've ever seen in Paris. The bathroom is one of the smallest I've ever been in my entire life, imagine the size of the toilet on planes, it's that plus a tiny weeny shower room. Everything else is great.

The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The hotel is ideally located off of the main drag of St. Michel and for the price, it's a fairly good deal. There are nice features such as available umbrellas for guests and other amenities if you ask for them. As for the negatives, the rooms can be extremely small, but workable. We had an issue in the Classic Design room with a very bad smell in the bathroom throughout our stay. It smelled as though there was an intense mold/mildew problem, though the bathroom appeared to be clean. We purchased an air freshener and washed the shower curtain on our own since the maid never appeared to notice or do anything about the extremely sour smell. However throughout our week stay nothing worked. It was fairly gross and the smell often permeated throughout the room. The bathroom size was also extremely small. I understand that some of their bathrooms are larger for higher priced rooms, but a larger person would not even be able to enter the bathroom and angle themselves properly to use the toilet or fit in the shower. They really are that small. We also had an issue with the maid not changing the sheets except for possibly every few days. Kind of gross coming back to your hotel and finding the same dirty sheets day after day. There was a particular stain that I saw in the same place repeatedly, so I'm sure that the sheets weren't changed. The elevator also cannot handle more than one person with luggage or two people huddled together at a time. Ending on a positive, the overall design aesthetic of the hotel is fantastic. Very cute and again, the staff is present 24/7 and are very helpful. The air conditioning in the room was also much appreciated during muggy Paris days. I would possibly stay again, but only if I could procure a deal on a significantly upgraded room.

A near-perfect location for exploring Paris, and we love this hotel's atmosphere with cafes, bistros and shops very close and the university's student buzz. Budget priced rooms are small - one day we will splash out on a suite. Don't miss a night ride around the city on bikes - ask at reception.

The room is generally quite clean, but personally I would think the size of the room is too small, or maybe it is just normal in Paris. It does serve our purpose of having a cleaner and good location to travel around Paris. The bathroom is clean as well, tho again quite small. Staff are generally nice and polite, however I feel limited facilities are offered on premises, e.g. there's no fridge and hot water bottle in our room, which was surprising... I would recommend to travelers who are mainly looking for a short stay, and are not fussed about the facilities provided or the size of the room.

The French have a perfect word to describe the Hotel De La Sorbonne – “Bijou”. We stayed here for five nights. The room was clean with a king-size double bed. The ensuite consisted of a walk in shower, basin and toilet. There was an Apple computer provided linked to the internet and television. The staff were very pleasant. They spoke far better English than my poor French but patiently supported my efforts. The room was serviced every day with bedding and towels changed. We had a fourth floor room with a limited view of the courtyard. Yes the room is small but we spent most of the days walking in Paris so wanted a comfortable, clean room to sleep in. We got a very comfortable, very clean room to sleep in. Value for money what more could we ask? We chose not to eat breakfast at the hotel but ate out in the local cafes; seemed a little more economical for us. Would we stay there again? Yes with out a doubt. A good quality hotel in the area of Paris we specifically wanted.

The hotel was located in a fantastic spot with easy access to rail, bus, shopping and many lane ways full of restaurants. The only real negatives to the hotel were the photos on the website show superior rooms only which are lovely so ensure you book one of them or if you book the standard room(like us)request to be on level 5 as level 6 has tiny pitched roof rooms. There was no air conditioning but luckily it wasn't to hot.The breakfast was basic and not worth the 11 euro so just eat down the road instead. I would reccommend this hotel.

This is a quaint 5 floor walk-up building (small elevator) across from the Sorbonne. You feel like you are staying in a local neighborhood when you walk to it from the RER/subway. The top floor is the last one to be renovated (which we stayed on) and it was fine except for no air conditioning during 2 warmer summer days when we were there in late July (coming in 2009). These rooms that will be redone before the 2009 summer holiday period. These rooms were less expensive since they have the older, less fancy decor. The lower floors are already redone with an art deco design which looks very nice. The breakfast room is nice with a full continental breakfast for a modest price with a free internet Apple workstation in the lobby area which helped people checking email and making calls abroad. My apple notebook connected to the wireless hookup easily in the lobby/breakfast area but I couldn't get the signal on the 5th floor. I noticed that the pictures on this website were not the same as the newer breakfast room and lobby area decor that we saw. If you are used to larger rooms, you will be tight here. The bathrooms are small but very well maintained but there is no bureau or storage area other than one closet in most of the rooms. Also, there is no locking safe in the rooms for valuables so bring a lockable suitcase if you need security for your belongings. The staff was very nice to help us with navigating Paris and the hotel was only 1.5 blocks from the Luxembourg RER "subway stop" making it easy to get to both airports by train and then walking to the hotel. It's about a 4-5 block hike down to the riverfront and Notre Dame where the main metro stop is. If you want to investigate St. Germain, you're only a couple of blocks walking distance to a trendy spot with lots of nightlife too. This is a good hotel for the budget, travel saavy person that is mobile using buses and the metro. The Latin Quarter was also very lively at night which was nice.

OK hotel located near Sorbonne University, close to the Latin Quarter, very central location. We had ordered a standard room, but got a superior room for the same price. The room was very small, but newly renovated. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen. But as we spend very little time in the hotel room when visiting Paris, it was OK. The surroundings were very quiet, nothing disturbed our sleep, except a fire alarm at five o'clock one morning. Breakfast is not included in the price. We never tried it, because there are several nice places to have breakfast in the neighbourhood, for example at Place de la Sorbonne right around the corner. The whole building is beeing renovated, but the work did not disturb us. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, but found it adequate and paid a reasonable rate (83 euros) Although the 8 euro breakfast was overpriced, the bread and croissants were excellent. The Hotel de la Sarbonne was under construction when we stayed there, and as a result, was almost half-price. Thus the breakfast room was closed and there were many disruptions in the lobby, in the entranceway, and about the elevator; however, these were excusable given the cheaper price. I would recommend, though, that until the construction is finished and the price back up to 150 Euros, you not stay here -- the disruptions were very annoying. Aside from this, the location of the hotel is spectacular, but there are many other hotels in this area of Paris, with far better rooms. While Parisian hotel rooms are always small and quaint, this room was well beneath this standard. There were no more than 6 inches (10cm) between the door to the bathroom and the sink, so you couldn't move or stand in the bathroom without the door being open. When the light in the bathroom burnt out, the hotel never fixed it. This was a significant annoyance and, while our trip was wonderful as always (for who doesn't love a trip to Paris?), I would not stay here again, even when the construction is over.

Our second time in this hotel which is perfectly situated for most of Paris's sights and in one of the nicest parts of the city. Very welcoming and professional staff and the rooms have been refurbished since we last came. The bathroom was a wet room which wasn't 100% effective but everything clean and tidy. Undergoing building work which affects the reception and stairs - but which will make the reception area larger when finished.

Hola!!! If I were you I would give this one a miss. There are much nicer hotels in the vacinity for the same price. The hotel is in a good location and that is it. Being a regular visiter to Paris I understand that you will not get luxury for this kind of money. I do however expect the place to be clean and the beds to made every day. The bed was never made in the four days we were there. The carpet was very dirty, the wallpaper hanging off and you could not even sit on the toilet it was so close to the wall. We had booked this hotel again for the summer but that is cancelled. To top off our stay here when we went to check out a 6.30am the person on the desk did not know how to work the card machine. I then had to go out and find a cashpoint and take cash out which I then got charged an overseas transaction fee rather than using my Credit Card. Go somewhere else they don't deserve your money.

We enjoyed our stay very much - typically this hotel is for those tourists / business men who use it only for sleep at night. Very nice, kind staff - only problem is space in room, especially in bathroom. A smaller washbasin would help it, since bathroom is small anyway, but washbasin is too big for no real reason i see. On other hand, the room looks very nice (floor carpet and wallpaper, furnitures - made from wood). There is a TV in room, but only french programmes available - would be an improvement to make at least some english channels to be able to see news etc. in the morning. Overall opinion is that this is a nice hotel, worth to come again and to suggest to others.

I first stayed here when I was a student (35 years ago!) and it's still excellent value. The rooms are small but tastefully decorated and contain all the essentials. The choice of pictures is particularly good and there are flowers in the window boxes. It's very sensible to make breakfast an option as there are lots of cafes and bars all around and breakfast in France is, compartively speaking, very bad value. This is an excellent area for a holiday in Paris - central, interesting but not noisy. We started planning a return trip before we had even left!

I had a comfortable stop in Hotel de la Sorbonne in November. To much noise a few nights made it a little bit difficult to sleep, but overall I like the hotel!

Wonderful location. Very charming common areas with a great stairway and color schemes, and fine rooms! Lovely (if a bit noisy) to have the Sorbonne right across the street offering up such great views.

We found this to be a very well situated hotel, close to the Metro, tourist attractions and restaurants. The surrounding area was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms in the hotel were not big but very clean and bright. The hotel itself was not spacious but we went to see Paris, not lounge about in the hotel. The De la Sorbonne makes an ideal weekend hotel.

nice hotel in an excellent place (latin quarter) for turism. room 27 was too small for 2 people. nice decoration. very good price for paris. strange smelling at the (little) bathroom. nice people at (little) breakfast room. being clean, good bed and cheap is enough for paris, because you won't spend much time at the hotel.
