This is the first time that we stayed at the Hotel Des Victoires. The rooms are small but very quaint. The service there was outstanding. The staff was very helpful and ready to assist with any request.

Good hotel, but: The housekeeper will knock the door down if you're not out of the room before 11am because she wants to go You can hear the noise of the other rooms Definitely not a 3 Star hotel

It is a very good hotel for tourists as it is close to major tourist attractions bus no 85 starts right from the hotel to all important travel routes. the area is a food court and thus caters to all kind of foods.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is close to Louvre and various metro stations. While rooms are small, it has everything you need (except aircon!). Will definately suggest to anyone who is willing to give up some space in exchange for excellent location, friendly staff and reasonalbe price.

Hotel des Victoires is a quiet small hotel at a walking distance to the Louvre and Centre Pompidou. At the reception there are a lot of free newspapers. The rooms were normal. The breakfast not included in the room was not special, but it is difficult to find a better alternative in the surroundings (or maybe I missed it)

The help given by the employees was outstanding. We felt very comfortable, it was quiet, clean and in a very nice area. I would definitely consider this hotel again.

This was the first time staying at this hotel. Close to everything I needed, including Louvre-Rivoli metro station. Rooms can be a little small. The internet service in the hotel was absolutely terrible and didn't work most of the time. But for location and shopping, it was fine.

In my opinion, this hotel's best attributes are it's excellent, welcoming, personable staff, who also all speak English to one degree or another, it's location close to The Louvre, and the fact that it feels like a hotel in Paris. It's nothing fancy, but has a simple old-style charm. Our family enjoyed the atmosphere and the helpful staff added a good deal to our visit to this hotel. For the money, it was a great value, we thought.

The hotel was a delight as it was just what was needed. A place to come to in the evening after a hard days walk around Paris to recoup, situated in a key local in Paris and very very affordable! Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We were very happy with the facilities and also the staff, who were very friendly and helpful. We ended up getting a cab to find the hotel after taking the train from CDG to the station recommended on the hotel web site, but the charge for the cab was the minimum, and it was late and COLD. Only negative was that we could here the toilet flush in the next room.We highly recommend the hotel.

Great location, rooms were a bit small and more than you would pay in other cities, but it is Paris, so the price/quality is less. Get a smaller, less quality room for a more expensive price in Paris. Friends stayed in a 3 person room and the room was a bit bigger. Staff very friendly. We would stay again!

great location, close to the Louvre Museum and to the Beaubourg, in the center of the wonderful Paris. Employees very kind and professional. The hotel was clean. But we had a small bed (probably for a single person), too narrow for me and my wife, even if we are neither fat nor old (we are 34-35yrs old).

We (my husband, my 21 year old daughter and myself)stayed here from 10/17-10/24/05. We had a triple room which was a double bed and a twin bed/daybed. There was a desk in the room and a closet with a bi-fold door. The bathroom was clean and it had a tub with a shower (detachable shower head). We were not tripping over each other, but we had the suitcases crammed in the closet. The best part of this hotel is the location - you can walk to all major attractions. The staff answered our questions, but was not overly friendly. I thought that breakfast was included when I booked our reservation, but at check in found out it was an additional 12 euros per person per day. We chose not to eat there - there is a great bakery around the corner that we frequented. One day our sheets smelled like cigarette smoke (we didn't notice until we were going to bed), but the next day they were fine. There are no seats in the "lobby", so we had to stand when waiting for our taxi after check out. As others have stated, the elevator is extremely small. We had to go down one at a time when we checked out (and we are all small builds). If you put your hands on your hips in the hallway, your elbows will touch the walls! None of these things detract from your stay, but it is true. We could hear others taking showers and a baby down the hall - luckily, there was no noise at night. We did not have a room that faced the street and we were on the 4th floor. All in all, it was a great place to stay (for the money). I would recommend it and I would consider staying there again if I wanted to be in that area (1st arrondisement). One other perk - they do have wireless internet in the rooms, but it was 14 euro per day.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. You are about a five minute walk from the Louvre and the nearest metro station. The room was tiny but clean. The worst part about the hotel is that the garbage or delivery trucks use the street in the early morning and make a ton of noise. You cannot ignore them either as they zoom by just below the window. The staff is helpful and willing to answer any questions.

the address was very hard to find even on foot as the street is not marked on tourist map. Later trying to refind it with a car was a nightmare. we did not get what we requested a triple room with a view of the street. Some one had also left a half can of beer in the mini bar. The triple room was a poorly ventilated off a service court.

My wife and I stayed at hotel Des Victories in July 2005 for one night. Overall we were very happy with our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. Certainly not a 5 star hotel, but we weren't expecting that for the price ;-) The bathroom -- a major consideration for my wife when she travles -- was clean and had rather new fittings. Cold and hot water supply was good. The best thing about the hotel was the service. We dealt with two staff members at the reception and both were amazingly friendly and helpful. It is such a contrast from many other hotels we've stayed at. I cannot recommend it enough simply because of the staff who seem genuinely concerned to provide good service. In terms of location, it is excellent. Around a 7-minute walk from the Louvre museum metro stop. Not difficult to find. Our room faced the road but was quite quiet because this was a quiet side street rather than a main thoroughfare. Initially, I had a bit of a concern about going home late in the evening as I wasn't sure if the neighborhood was safe. But it ended up being fine. still, as a visitor i'd think twice about walking back home alone at night anywhere in paris... There is an elevator. Somewhat slow, and not very practical during the morning rush. We ended up taking the stairs. The hotel offers an optional breakfast deal, but it seemed rather expensive and there are lots of alternatives in Paris, so we chose to go out for a real breakfast... TIP: the lobby has a computer with internet access 24hrs a day. you can buy coupons from the reception (5 euros each)to access email, etc. we found this very useful. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It is good value for the money. We travel widely and have stayed in many, many hotels in most parts of the world. Within the price segment for this hotel, it is one of the best.

The hotel seems to have been recently renovated (our group of four visited in July 2005). Clean, very well-maintained rooms, beautiful big bathrooms -- rather unusual in hotels in this area within this budget! It was very close to the Louvre and Des Halles. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel (extra 12 euros per person), since there are little supermarkets, bakeries and fruitshops nearby (some just across the road, in fact)from where you can get a really good breakfast, and there is tea and coffee-making facilities in the room itself if you need a morning caffeine-shot. Very good. Would recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. A great location: 5min walking to Louvre, Louvre-Rivoli Metro, and Les Halles RER. On a quiet street by many good restaurants and with a laundromat next door. From May 13-18, we stayed in Room 32 with twin beds pushed together and a window overlooking Rue Herold. The room was very clean, especially the bathroom, with a small tub/shower with partition to prevent water all over the floor, plenty of hot water, good water pressure, nice hairdryer; normal-sized room by European standards, soft beds, BBC on TV for English speakers, plus a coffee maker, and a small mini-bar fridge. Only negatives were thin walls (we heard more noise from neighboring rooms than the street), duvets/blankets/pillows could use an update, no alarm clock (no clock period), and zero decoration in the room. We used our Do Not Disturb sign every night so we were never awakened by the rumored early cleaning staff, but removed it when we left for the day and always returned in the evening to find our room tidied. Friendly English speaking staff at front desk 24hrs (even when we came in at 5am from the clubs). Skip the 12EUR breakfast at the hotel and go to the bakery around the corner on Rue de Coquilleries. I would definitely stay there again.

The only GOOD thing about Des Victoires was the location....and the bathroom was nice....BUT! I specifically asked for a QUIET room...and we were given a room on the street...We were told "it is a quiet street"...It was too hot to close the window....All night, we could hear people on the street..When you fly 12 hours and you're on your honeymoon...A little sleep helps! The bed was okay...the room was small..But, we were prepared for that...The desk help was polite but INDIFFERENT! I asked to change rooms the next day...and the woman wanted to give me room on the 1st floor, and on the street! I toold her the problem was the NOISE! She did not care...The carpet was stained and not vacuumed...But, the bath was very clean..and a nice size....the place needs some paintig or something...The desk hekp that said he would arrange our taxi didnt do it...and luckily we checked on it...Because the weekend girl called the taxi....(when we left)..She was the only one willing to speak English at any length...Our French was not good enough...SO...If you like NOISE and 90 euro was too much for the room ! ANd it isnt a three star place! But, it is close to the Louvre...There are a good restaurants two and three blocks away...Check out the restaurant, Maitre Kanter, it's excellent! and the Pig's Foot...and there are very pretty gardens three blocks away....Thanks,and Bon Voyage.

Very good! just two things. Breakfast not included was not specified and...staff for breakfast was a nightmare: we arrived at the lounge at 9.45 (closing time 10.00) and we were not served until 10.05. Lady was shouting from one table to the other informing that no bread was available. We asked for hot milk and we got it cold after 8 minutes. Asked for juice and got it after 10'. Table close to us asked for cheese and were answered it was finished (we gave them ours). Any kind of food was not available (covered) at 9.45, so we asked for ham and we were given it straight from the plastic box.Very unkind, and absolutely not enough for the price we paid...it would have been much better if she had informed us it was too late...but it wasn't...she seemed to have a lot of to do in the kitchen, but that's not a customer's problem.Awful! for the rest...great position and very quiet. Nice rooms and kind receptioninst.

We were quite pleased with the location and the facilities. However, there was a problem with the hot water, supposedly temporary and which they said had been fixed, yet the water was only lukewarm. Also, the website for the Emeraude chain said breakfast was included. Not only was it not included, but it cost an outrageous 12 euros. (we skipped it)

Close to Metro for the further away touristy stuff. Good restuarants closeby (we're vegetarian and yes, there are a couple in France!!) Noise carries through the walls - see type of user...
