If you want a hotel close to the metro in a fairly quiet part of Paris then this is ideal. We had a very enjoyable stay only marred by the poor standard of housekeeping and a couple of niggly things such as only 2 hangers being in the wardrobe. Seems daft to annoy customers for such a cheap item and they seemed surprised when I asked for a few more to be able to hang up our clothes! The staff were friendly and the room was fine though quite small but perfectly acceptable. The only real bug bear was the poor housekeeping as all they seemed to do was replace the towels and make the bed. They didn't clean the bathroom or wipe any surfaces during our stay and didn't replace any of the cheap plastic cups, soaps, shampoos that had been used. When we waiting in reception to catch the shuttle to the airport, a man came down to reception to complain that the room he had been given was 'filthy' and on being given another he was back to say the same. In the end, the receptionist accompanied him to the rooms and had to admit he was right and offer him yet another room! We left so don't know what the outcome of that was... The shower worked very poorly as just dribbled out the end - all it needed was for the shower head to be cleaned but didn't want to do it myself in case I broke it and knew there was no point asking house keeping to do it as they were obviously so lazy! If I had been staying longer than a few days I would have complained to the manager though it wasn't obvious who he/she was as reception was manned by youngish girls most of the time. However, I don't want this review to come across as negative as I would go back to this hotel again as on balance it was OK for the price. Just a shame that they let customers down with such niggly stupid things as poor cleaning and being so stingy with things that would have been so cheap to provide. On the plus side, the hotel was really near to lots of nice cafes and the little restaurant at 15 Rue Coprea

Just the most disastrous stay in any hotel in Paris we had the chance to go to (and we did dozens)... There was one missing bed in our room and, even though we arrived not too late at 8 pm, it was impossible to have this corrected (no available staff). We had to bring a dirty mattress in our room and make the "bed" ourself... On top of that: our sink was blocked; there was no hot water in the room (so impossible to have a shower!!!); and the overall cleanliness was poor. And, after all these "problems", no excuse by any responsible person and no discount was proposed to us. Conclusion: avoid this place at all cost!!!

We stayed in two quadruple rooms, and had big rooms. The hotel is right next to the metro, and in our room in fourth floot, we could see the Eiffel tower.

My daughter and I stayed three nights at Derby Garibaldi and we were very happy with our stay there. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious for the two of us. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location was excellent - about 15 -20 min walk to the Eiffel Tower. Lots of shops nearby and railway station across the road. Will return to Derby Garibaldi when in Paris and would recommend to other travellers.

Very nice room with a separate room off it for my daughter. The hotel is conveniently located opposite the metro stop, although as the metro is elevated at that point, I could imagine that the rooms at the front are rather noisy. My 6-year old daughter particularly appreciated having a separate room and the fact there was a slide and swing in the garden.

We stayed in an interleading room for family of 4. Hotel is well-situated near Metro. The walk to the Eiffel Tower is a bit long. Accommodation is average, but it was great having two bathrooms. However, a very irritating light shining into the room kept me awake.

Good price for a Paris hotel, though the rooms are a bit old, and the quadruple room with 2 bathrooms was very handy for our family. Metro is right in front (noisy, but convenient), a reasonable walk to the Tour Eiffel (10-15 minutes); small restaurants, stores and cafes within walking distance.

The room were very basic and would need a re decorating and re-fitting, for a three star, I thought the rating did not correspond to the quality of the rooms.

This hotel was wonderful! Conveniently located across the street from a Metro stop, it was easy to either walk or take the Metro to all the sights in Paris. We had two young adult children with us, and had a suite, which was two rooms - one with a king bed and another with two singles. Very spacious. Each room had a small refrigerator (one of which didn't work)and it's own bathroom. The hotel staff was very helpful recommending restaurants, grocery stores, and patisseries. We would highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is located in front of the subway station .The neighboorhood can be considered average, with some restaurants within walking distance(less than 300m) Our room was big enough for our 4 bags. However the hotel has also smaller rooms. The female attendants during the stay were very kind and helpful. The price of 13 euros for the breakfast is a little above average for the same in a nearby coffee shop.

Fluency in English by hotel staff made our stay really comfortable in the heart of France. Conveniently located near a Metro station (2 min walk). Lift was a bit tight for the luggage but we managed. There is a supermarket and a bread seller close by to buy the authentic french patisserie.

The hotel was okay, but I have always thought that you spend alot more for hotel rooms in Paris and receive alot less than other places in Europe. There is a small supermarket just around the corner if you do not want to eat at the hotel. I would suggest NOT using the yellow bus 'hop on hop off' tour that is available at the front desk. The bus stop that was given to us by the front desk was hidden inside a regular bus shelter and we wasted alot of time searching for the stop. We had to wait sooooooo long for the yellow buses to come along. We noticed many more red buses traveling by.

A very good place to stay ...but not in winter: the heating is very bad and noisy (not central heating, but a machine in the room), we were very cold! We've been there in Spring, we sent there friends in summer and the hotel was perfect!

I traveled with my husband and two grandchildren. It was one of the few quad rooms we could find. It was a little over a mile to the Eiffel Tower and the rail was right across the street, so it was very convenient. There weren't a lot of amenities close by, but there were some restaurants. The staff was friendly, but were not always fluent in English. The rooms are pretty basic. The elevator is very small. Parking is several blocks away and there is not really a place to unload baggage--we just stopped in the right lane to unload. The quad room had two TVs and two bathrooms, so this was great. All in all, a good value compared to other hotels. We had a great trip.

Nice room, only problem was being able to hear the rude people in the room across from ours along with the screaming baby....but when they weren't around it was great. Close to the Eiffel Tower, close to restaurants. Most of the staff was very nice except one woman, but still not a major complaint. Great stay, worth staying there again, great price if you book online.

Great location - opposite a metro station.Friendly staff (English speaking). Large clean rooms with Eiffel tower view from windows. We were at the 4th floor. If the hotel was closer to the Eiffel Tower and its touristic area it would be perfect.

The morning/afternoon concierge at this hotel was very helpful and courteous. The hotel location is excellent, as it is very close to the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides. If you wish to take the subway, then you're in luck because it is right across from a station. The general area of the city is not the greatest, however, we felt safe at night inside the hotel. The room was very tiny, however, it was clean and fully functional for our needs.

Very nice hotel in a convenient location (right next to a Metro stop). Very clean rooms and friendly staff. The rooms were quiet. I would stay here again. One minor complaint: we happened to be in Paris during unseasonably hot weather and the air conditioning was provided by portable units. The exhaust vents for these units were setting on the floor, blowing the hot air back in the room. I stuck the hose out the window and got some relief, but the window had to remain open to do so - kind of counterproductive.

Hotel Derby Garibaldi was the first hotel we stayed at on our three week vacation through France and the Czech Republic. Although the hotel was not in the centre of Paris, its location directly across from the Metro was perfect. A small grocery store was around the corner as were a few pastry shops. My wife and I walked from the hotel to the Eiffel Tower easily (10-15 minute walk) and quite enjoyed this hotel's location and the size of room and bathroom. We did have one evening where we could not get into our room - the key was malfunctioning (very odd!). The doorman on duty at night could not even figure out what the issue was. One caution I must give - do not leave any valuables in your room. Also, be very careful about how you check out of your room. I discovered that there had been fraudulent activity on my credit card half way through our vacation - and I had only used this credit card once and it was at Hotel Derby Garibaldi!

Well I would not say that the hotel staff was universally as helpful as in the previous reviews...mainly due to English limitations, but they did try. While telling us our room would not be available until the published noon they surprised us an finished in 30 mins as my daughter was ill. Renovations going on so a little noisy. Breakfast buffet overpriced, but there are reasonable options in neighbourhood. Close to metro and attractions...really good location. Room a little tight for 4 people, but good for price. Overall very good

We had no problem finding the hotel. It is right across the Metro station. Hotel is conveniently located with supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and metro around. We had booked a family room and a double room. Family room was big and there were two washrooms. Staffs were very helpful. This is our first time staying in Hotel Derby Garibaldi and we will return to this hotel. One recommendation if you are taking the metro from the airport or train station to the hotel, don't bring big luggages as you have to walk and change metro lines for a few times. The metro is usually very packed and you have to carry the luggages up the stairs and walk long way before changing another line.

This is a fine small hotel in a great neighborhood in the center of the city. Metro station across the street, plenty of nice restaurants in the neighborhood, safe streets, youthful population. The hotel is old and lacks amenities that some travelers might consider mandatory. Portable air conditioners were a puzzle, TV didn't work, refrigerator lacked proper venting, shower head sprayed onto floor. This was our second stay at the Garibaldi so clearly the ambiance of a small hotel in a great neighborhood with a friendly, helpful staff outweighed the mechanical issues.

We had a great stay in Paris, and enjoyed our stay at the Derby Garibaldi, but that's mostly because we're not complainers. At first we were in the wrong room (a quad room) and had to be moved. That room was beautiful, by the way. It even had 2 bathrooms. We were moved to a much smaller room on the second floor, which had a stale smoke and sewer smell. It was clean however and when I mentioned the smell to the manager, it was temporarily taken care of. The staff were absolutely wonderful. The friendliest people we met in Paris. The hotel was also well situated across from the tube, within 15 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower and within 5 minutes of a laundromat.

Our family of 4 -- two teens and parents -- en joyed our stay at the charming Hotel Derby Garibaldi. The staff, especially Dorna, were very nice and helpful. My daughter was skeptical when I told her it was a small hotel -- but she said she really liked it. The location across the street from the Metro was wonderful and we easily walked to the Eiffel tower. In fact, we saw it from our window!

Ok..The room was large, and even had an adjoined room with two twin beds, we didn't use it. There were stains on the comforter, the lamp shade and the bathroom looked clean but smelled like mold. the towels were clean and soft, and the shower was great. there were sodas and waters in the fridge for a decent rate. we were given some bad info the morning we left so we would hesitate to rely on their advice. we were told a cab to the airport would be 30-40 euro and it was 65! to make matters worse we were only taking a cab because he said the metro wouldn't open until 6am...as we pulled away in the cab it was open (we had already paid for our tickets on the train!) it was a worse because we only had 60 euro left as we were flying home..we worked it out in american dollars..but i was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Don't expect it to be as nice as the photo's that's for sure.

I decided to stay at this hotel after reading the comments. I was very impressed by the size of the rooms. It is very difficult to find a large room in Paris (in Europe actually) at this price. My son (8) was happy to have a seperate room and TV. Furnitures and bathroom were quite new and clean. It is not at the center but very close to the metro station. There are nice brasseries around. The breakfast was quit satisfying. I recommend this hotel to the families with children especially.

Great hotel! For the price we paid through Venere it was excellent. Rooms were clean, quiet and everything was working - except I rang and checked their website about wireless internet connection - this was all confirmed, I brought my laptop with me and they told me it hasnt been working for 2 weeks. Disappointed. Across the road from the hotel - Serves Locumbre train station -VERY QUIET - you can hear it AT ALL in your room. Night time very quiet too. Hotel Staff very friendly and VERY helpful in terms of directions. I recommend this hotel to everyone because of its proximity to the metro, 15mins walk to the Eiffel Tower and a very nice area of Paris - safe and clean.

Booked for 5 nights and was not disappointed. Located directly opposite Metro Station but no distracting noise whatsoever. When we arrived we were put in a double room so we enjoyed plenty of space. Great view of Eiffel Tower from our L4 window. No breakfasts in room rate but plenty of Retaurants close by to choose from. 15min walk to Eiffel Tower. Not a heavily touristed area. Would definetly go back.

The rooms are quite large and we had a wonderful surprise when we got two joining rooms instead of a triple as reserved. We appreciated it very much and it made a wonderful impression on us. The metro station is in front of the hotel which is very important when you come back at night or from shopping. he staff at the reception were very nice and helpful. We forgot a poster in the luggage room and they offered to send it to us and they did their best all the time. The location is OK.It's Montparnasse, not St. Germain des Pres, but it's safe.

One night spent for professionnal reason in this hotel. Perfect quality vs price : large room, clean, good equipment, very good welcoming, and 5' to go for my job (bd pasteur). I made a reservation for a single and get a double. A slight problem of noisy ceiling lamp, I told to the reception, it must be fixed (room 103). I recommend. Thanks.

This hotel is fairly nice, the room we requested was a double and we were given a room for 4, with two bathrooms, t.v's etc which was great, but I cant comment on the general size of the rooms as I think we just got lucky. The location is not great, I wouldn't stay again because of the location. However for just an overnight stay it was fine.

This hotel did not provide the accommodation we booked for half of our stay. This did not appear to be a one-off mistake as we saw several other irate guests being treated in the same way on their arrival. We booked 4 nights in a family room and confirmed the reservation by telephone a few days in advance. On arrival, we were turned away at the door to spend an overcrowded night (beds squeezed into too small a room) at a partner hotel. The receptionist at this hotel called the Garibaldi in the morning to confirm our room for the next 3 nights, but when we arrived at 5.00pm after a day's sightseeing we were told again that they had no room for us. Eventually we were given a room for 3 (with no key or official existance on the hotel's computer system) behind a door marked private on the top floor. Our final 2 nights were fine and in the room originally booked. Perhaps we were unlucky, but I was left with the impression that overbooking rooms was a common occurance (I couldn't say whether it was accidental or deliberate). This is a real shame, as in all other ways this is a nicely kept hotel in a handy spot. If we had been given the room we originally booked, we would have been very happy with our stay.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and were very impressed. We requested a room with 3 beds and were given 2 rooms that were more than appropriate for a family with a child, without any additional charges. From everything I’ve read on the confined size of the rooms in Paris, we were happy with Derby Garibaldi’s room size.

The hotel was very nice. The only problem we really ran into was upon leaving. The hotel had set up a shuttle to take us back to the airport. It never showed. The problem was eventually fixed but they need make sure that doesn't happen again. Overall our visit in Paris was wonderful.

Friendly and helpful staff. Parking is a nightmare but that's not the hotel's fault (they don't have their own and there are no garages in the vicinity - if you're driving to Paris I don't recommend staying here). Breakfast is overpriced. Our room was huge but in need of renovation. Metro stop conveniently located right across the street, and we could see the Eiffel Tower from our window. Overall a good value.

We were travelling as a couple (a four days holiday without the kids!) and were, over all, very satisfied with the accommodation. Our room was extremely spacious (the bathroom was very small, though, but well-equipped) and really clean. The windows were absolutely noise proof, which is very important, given the hotel's location at a big boulevard and directly opposite the métro. We were a bit disappointed about the styling of the rooms, which had seemed more modern to us from the photos, but as already stated, everything was clean and worked well, so we got used to the style soon. We did not try the breakfast, because the cost-benefit-ratio did not exactly seem to be the best, so we cannot judge this part of the hotel. The only really negative characteristic of our room was that it strongly smelled of smoke, even though we kept the windows open all day. What we considered extremely positive, on the other hand, was the hotel's location, quite close to Eiffel Tower, but what is much more important, at no distance from two different métro lines. Summing up, we would recommend the hotel to tourists who are looking for a spacious, clean room, well connected to public means of transport, who do not care too much about a modern style and four-star-comfort.

POLISH: Jesteśmy rodziną z 3 dzieci i musieliśmy nocować w hotelu przed dalszą podrózą do Dordonii. /// /// /// /// ENGLISH: We are a family with 3 kids, and we were forced to spend one night in Paris before we wanted to depart for Dordogne. The location of the hotel is relatively good; a close distance to Metro (ca 50 m) is an advantage. The rooms seem to require some renovation (mold on the walls in the bathroom, leaking shower etc), similarly to playground in the backyard (slightly ruined and dirty). My next advice is not to take a breakfast for 13€ in the hotel, but instead of that to try one of surrounding bars (tasty coffee and croissants for 7.5 €). Hotel's personnel seems to need some training too (the receptionist tried to find the reserved room for us just walking throughout the floors and looking into empty rooms and another one tried to charge my card again on checking out the hotel).

We have been sleeping here for 4 nights and our coment is really positive. The position is good, ten minutes walking from Tour Eiffel, 20 minutes by subway from everywhere. The room is really quite, no noise at all, even if the hotel faces the subway line. Also its dimensions are generous, in particular the bathroom, something difficult to find in Paris. Cleaning is good. We had only to ask each evening for some extra towels, the ones they give are really few. The vote this hotel has been given by Venere is correct and we suggest it to whoever liked to have a nice staying in Paris. Just to underline that the paiment by credit card happened the day after the reservation by internet and not immediately after the stayment.

The front desk was very welcoming and called an excellent taxi driver for us. Our double room was clean and enormous- the biggest room I've ever experienced in France. This was an excellent price for what we got. My five-year-old loved to see the Eiffel Tower out of our hotel window.

Great english speaking staff, very helpful and polite. Good location, right in front of metro station. Some mould in the shower but other than that the room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast not included, which is not uncommon in europe. Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

We reserved 3 quad rooms but only 1 was available when we checked in so our party was split into 7 rooms instead of 3. 2 of our party were given single rooms that looked like closets so not exactly what we had expected. Clean rooms - cute hotel with lots of charm. Good location.

For the amount paid, I found the hotel to be a good value. Big room, decent bed, t.v. and all. Shower was a puzzlement. No curtain. Plexiglas door did not prevent water from finding its way to the bathroom floor while the shower was on. Also, the hotel was a bit hard to find. Might still be looking for it if I hadn't had help from two friendly Parisians. From an American point of view, rue garibaldi made no sense whatsoever. I came off the metro @ Sevre/LeCoubre and saw 65 Rue Garibaldi, therefore I thought that 92 would be further on, not directly opposite from where I stood. I don't think thats the fault of the hotel, just a difference between French and American thought. lol This was the first time I had been to Paris, so I have no other Parisian hotel experience to compare it to. I was traveling by myself. Finally, I had no idea as to the neighborhood surrounding the hotel, but it turned out to be in a great location. I love to walk, and I found the things I wanted to find either that way or via Le Metro. So, I feel that the hotel served my needs just fine, and I would book another stay there, if I'm lucky enough to return to Paris.

Good price for money; I got what I expected except that the room was more spacious that I thought; we were three and we had plenty of space and quiteness. The location is also ok, relatively centric and just in front of a metro station.

A very well located hotel in great condition, Quad room was good for older family, a seperate twin and double suite. Bathroom could have done with a tidy up that's all. Should mention the overground Metro stop is just over the road and a two day all area pass was excellent value. Would good back - great rate negotiarted by Venere, Thanks

This is an older hotel but we found it to be quite comfortable and the staff very helpful. They stored our luggage for an entire day as we were sightseeing and ordered a taxi and pizza for us as none of us knew French. Beds were comfortable but it would have been nice to have A/C. Although there was a thermostat on the wall it never really seemed to cool the room off and we had to open the windows all night which allowed street noise that was a little loud. Overall our experience was very good. The location was within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and we even passed an ourdoor market on the way there. McDonalds is also within walking distance.
