Pro: Clean Rooms, very near to the next METRO Station (less thann 300m "Place d'Italie) and a little Shopping Mall ("Italie deux") with Supermarket and many other Shops, English spoken, little Balkony in some rooms, friendly Staff Con: Small rooms (it's ok for some days and with sunshine), loud rooms, Breakfast is awful (a dry Croissant and a little bit of Baguette with Butter and Marmelade) and to expensive (6,00 € per person and night),

A small hotel, somewhat far from major attractions. But with the nearby Metro & bus stations any tourist destinations, train stations etc are easily reached. Busy neighborhood, many eating options including McDonalds less than 200 meters away. My room, a single, was very small but clean and perfect for my stay. Staff may not be fluent in English but they try, if you speak a little French it is easier. A good value for budget-minded travelers.

The service at the hotel was very good. The staff were friendly. However, the ensuite bathroom is very small. So, if you are a generously proportioned individual (or heavily pregnant), moving around is a skill. Despite this, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel especially if you are in the budget to moderate bracket.

We stayed in Paris for 6 days. Nice hotel though everything is small there. Room simple and tidy, toilet extremely small (even more than the one we experienced in Tokyo). But the position of this hotel is very convenient: 2 min walk from Place d'Italie metro where 3 lines are well connected to the rest of the city, shopping mall nearby, many chinese/thai/japanese restaurant at walking distance, KFC, McDonald, brasserie, boulangerie, etc. Basically, everything you need.

As a single female traveler for me was important to have a safe hotel room near metro station. I found this hotel at tripadvisor and the reviews here and there are 100% true. Rooms are small but clean. The area is perfect - few metro stations away form all the sites and also quiet. Hotel was at full capacity when I was there - beginning of april, but the noise in the room was OK. All in all I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again next time Im in Paris!

I was travelling to a conference in Paris and using the city as a home-base to visit Belgium. The room was immaculate. The room was small, but this did not concern me at all. Breakfast was typical, OJ, croissant, baguette, and coffee. Staff were pleasant. One can hear some noise from other guests entering and leaving, and some noise from the street depending. I'm a light sleeper so I brought and used earplugs; with these, the noise was not a problem. There is a metro station nearby with direct lines to Gare du Nord, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. For a pleasant, clean room in Paris the price was unbeatable.

we got the 1st floor room and it was perfectly adequate for a two star accomodation, perfectly clean and no troubles with noise from the street or neighbours. there is a boulangerie just down the hotel and a supermarket a block ahead, so no worries about feeding. a very good aspect is the proximity of 2 metro stops and a good number of bus stops. what a nice holiday!

The saving grace of our trip was our hotel room. No the rooms and corridors are not spaciousness, but we expected that, and we knew from the photos it would not have up to date décor. However it was clean and really warm and comfortable, which during this cold weather was much needed and welcomed. Regarding quietness I feel it may depend on luck as to how considerate the other guests are. You can hear keys being put in doors and some moving about the room for a few minutes, however for us it ended there, which was great. We can’t comment on the public areas as we did not use them. The hotel surroundings didn’t have much to excite, but again this was expected and therefore we got the metro or bus around. The staff were nice, which cannot be said for the Parisian’s in general... The city is very hard to get around if you do not have French as there are very few people willing to help and it was the big downside to our trip, as it made us feel very unwelcome.

The hotel was really nice for the price we payed, i mean, you cant complain about "the hotel hasn't a swimming pool" or "the bathroom was small" when you pay 60€ and you are 5 minutes far from Place d'Italie, and 20-25 minutes from the centre of paris (i mean by foot!); rooms were clean, staff was friendly, area was full of cheap and good restaurants, a mall was just near the hotel.. i think it's enough :)

Excellent quality for price. Very cheap, but clean, close to the metro station, ideal for resting through the night after a busy day exploring Paris. They allowed us to leave our baggage in the hotel after we checked out free of charge so that we can spend our day care-free in Paris before we went to the airport. The reception lady that welcomed us when we arrived was rather rude, but the following days the stuff was polite and helpful. The manager was very friendly. There was some noise, coming from the street or the other rooms, and the curtains weren't thoroughly clean. The bathroom was somewhat small. There was a TV in the room, and a heater / cooling machine.

This is a perfectly ok hotel, excellent for the price. Near the metro and convenient to almost anyplace in the center of Paris. Near the Bibliotheque Nationale. The immediate neighborhood is nondescript but feels safe. My single room was small but clean, well-furnished and quiet. I appreciated the bright reading light. The bathroom is tiny; a very large person might actually not fit! But it was newly decorated and clean. Breakfast is basic but ok; it costs extra. Internet (ethernet) available for a nominal fee. No complaints. Will return.

Good place to stay for the price. Very clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Near a number of reasonably price small cafes, and a very large new shopping centre. Nothing much to see in the area but excellent metro connections. Area felt very safe at night. Would not however stay here in the summer, as no air conditioning and with the windows open would be subjected to constant traffic noise. Would happily stay here again during the cooler seasons.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located in a really nice neighborhood, at just 5 min from the nearest metro stop (Place Italie), so it's well communicated with the main touristic areas. The room was quite small, but clean and it's ok taking into account that it's cheap (60 euros for a single) for a Paris hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but in front of the metro there's a nice place that offer a really good breakfast for 7 euros called. So, I recommend the hotel for a short stay in Paris.

Hard to find an hotel in Paris for less than 70 Euros but this one is acceptable. A few lack ok space in my room, depending on the number you have, mine had no view but was quiet. The main problem to sleep was the door of my room by which the light of the corridor was filtering all around...and noises too !

This hotel had everything we needed in Paris. A clean room with a clean bathroom, and a low price. Only one of the front desk workers communicated with us in English, but he was extremely helpful and provided us with all the information we needed. Very close to metro station Place d'Italie which connects to all major lines, and not far at all by foot to all major attractions in the 5eme arrondissement. Recommend taking a long walk down L'Avenue des Gobelins for a look at the food stalls and lovely restaurants! One caveat only - our room was extremely small (basically only big enough for a bed) which suited us fine, but if you are used to larger-more-American type rooms you might be disappointed. Also would not necessarily recommend breakfast as I think it is overpriced at 6 euro per person for granola and a croissant. Also, no deadbolt on door, and the maid walked in a few times while we were in there getting dressed. They ask you to leave the key whenever you leave the building, which was a bit odd at first but ended up being good since we weren't weighed down with extra items to carry! Would recommend to a friend anytime!

There is a very small! elevator in the hotel, but was very usefull. The surounding is a bit busy the underground is very near to the hotel. The underground is about five minute walk. I think the saying "you get what you pay for" is entirely accurate in this case. I would say the major plus is the location. The hotel is in a quiet but centrally located area that is only a few metro stops away from the major attractions. There is a plenty of nearby restraunts and banks. The staff was for the most part friendly. Except we did have problems when we checked out, the woman who checked us out told us that she spoke English, when asked, but spoke none, and when we spoke french to her (my husband had 5 years of french in school) she stated that she could not understand us. We had to be very patient. The room was very small but clean. As you open the door you walk 1 step and you are in the toilet and sink area, 2 more steps and you are in the shower area. Three more steps and there is the bed. There was a safe, a wardrobe closet and a desk also included. The shower was very modern. The shower flooded our room and we did our best to soak up the water with the towels we were given.Luckily, the carpet is thin and by the water marks there, had flooded many times before and the floor quickly dried. I am also very greatful that we had a room on the first floor as the narrow spiral staircase would have been much more difficult with heavy luggage to navigate.

Very nice hotel. Room was small but not cramped. Comfortable bed. Shower and lav upgraded. Shower head removable & adjustable vertically. My room (634) was on the top floor facing Place des Alpes. Noise from the avenue was mostly shut out by the new windows. Fan provided for air. Elevator stops at 5th floor with stairs to 6th. Welcoming staff spoke English. There are rooms at the back of the hotel that may avoid street noise, but I enjoyed the view. I did not take the breakfast (8 euros) so I can´t comment other than to say with cafe coffee running 3 to 4 euros a cup (no free refills), 8 euros might be a deal! The hotel is located a few blocks from metro stations. I walked to Jardin des Plants in 15 minutes. A small patisserie is just two doors away. Two restaurants are located on Places des Alpes with many more within 5 min walk. Great Asian restaurants on Ave Choissy off Place d´Italia. Larger grocery at Place Pinel close by. I felt quiet safe walking at night(I´m a 57 year old woman). I will stay here again and will recommend this hotel to friends.

Very good quality-for-money ratio. Easy access from the airports by RER. Very good for single traveller or young couple who want a good base for exploring Paris, especially the left bank (Rive gauche). Plenty of public transportation at Place D'Italie, a two-minutes walk. Three little cosy restaurants on a 1-minute walk radius (a rather posh one is in the same building with the hotel). One mall (www.italie2.com) in the same Place D'Italie for the shopping junkies, including non-stop restaurants. Nice teraces and coffee shops around, one "boulangerie-patisserie" with plenty of choice "to go". Continental breakfast (coffee, croissant, demi-baguette, butter, jam, orange juice) in hotel costs 6 euros. Decent for a quick fill-up, but without too much of a view :) (small place inside). Good internet by cable, at 5 euros a day. Very gracious "maitre d'hotel". After a first night (late arrival) in a cramped room at 1st floor (with a sad view in the courtyard), he readily agreed to give me a room at the 5th floor. I even got a small balcony :) Great view towards Place D'Italie. Rooms cleaned and towels changed every day. Rather firm bed - very good for me. Very small tv set - another good thing, as it pushes you to go out. But still be able to watch the news, if cannot disconnect yourself. I stayed there 6 nights. Very happy with the hotel, I would go there again without thinking twice.

We loved the owner of the hotel. He was so welcoming. Also, the young man on duty during the day was wonderful. We had a problem with the night person, an older woman, who acted unfriendly and a little bizarre. We had friends call the hotel who found her bizarre also and we had trouble getting messages from our friends who called. It was ONLY this one woman at the desk who was a problem. The other staff was wonderful!!

I had a good stay at this hotel. The staff made my stay comfortable from the moment I walked in the hotel. It was very close to the metro so it was convenient to go around Paris. The surrounding area has full of nice restaurants, too. The room and toilet/bath were quite small but they were kept clean everyday.

For the price we paid, it was a very good hotel. The staff were accomodating. Very convenient since the Place d'Italie metro stop serves 3 metro lines.

The hotel was very clean (which was the most important thing to us) and the staff very friendly and helpful. The area in which it's located is nice, with lots of cafes and a shopping center nearby. The metro station is 5 minutes away from the hotel and takes you to the center in about 15 minutes. Our room and bathroom were rather small, but got cleaned every day. The only part we didnt like about the hotel was the breakfast. It consisted of a piece of baguette, butter, jam, coffee and orange juice and just wasn't worth the price of 6 euros. It was however optional, so we simply went to one of the cafes after the first day. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay very much and will definitly stay there again.

Very conventiently located to the Place d'Italie Metro station. Staff were friendly, rooms small but clean. Great option for a quick and relatively inexpensive stay in Paris. Would definitely return.

Clean and quiet place, very near to transport facilities. Don't expect any luxury, but a very nice shower and real narrow bathroom and lift. Efficiently run, this hotel is a good choice for its cost, unless your serching for something more exotic.

We'll be returning, which is the the most telling comment! We got a very warm welcome, the room was larger than we expected, and the whole property was very clean and seemed recently refreshed. The location is just a two-minutes walk to the metro station. There are some informal restaurants to choose from, and one that is more ambitious but still warm and welcoming. As others have said, you can't sleep with the windows open, but that feels like a minor drawback compared to all the positives.

After a bit of internet research and reading other peoples comments we settled on this hotel and it far exceeded my expectations. We arrived at midday after an overnight flight and were greeted by a very friendly and enthusiastic man at the front desk and we able to have our room straight away. The room was immaculately clean and overlooked the street. It was not noisy though as they have thick glass so once the windows shut, so is shut out most of the sound. The only thing you might be able to fault them on is the room size which is small, and the bathroom and toilet were located in 2 separate "cupboards" which were very small. But hey - this is Paris and I'd rather have a tiny bathroom and toilet than a shared one on the landing, and I'd rather have a small, clean, comfy, quiet room than a big, dirty, noisy one. I would say end your search here, I will be recommending this place to anyone I know travelling to Paris. The neighbourhood was also really cute, close to everywhere, literally minutes walk to subway and some great local produce markets on Sunday morning. In terms of value, the quality of this place would have to be on par with much more expensive hotels and a true bargain in Paris.

Hotel De la Place des Alpes is located at about 300 metres from the Métro stop Place d'Italie, which is on the line 7 leading to the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Jussieu), Notre Dame (Châtelet) and Musée du Louvre ( Musée du Louvre). The hotel is confortable and the rooms are cosy and clean with large windows which let the sun light comeS in very nicely. In the area there are nice pubs and restaurants so you can have a really good time without using the metro a t night!

The Hotel de la Place des Alpes is good value for the price (64 euro), especially as we stayed over New Year. The hotel is small and quiet, given its proximity to the Metro tracks; some noise could be heard from adjoining rooms, but nothing to trouble any but the lightest sleeper and the Metro could barely be heard. The hotel's location, just off the Place d'Italie, gives easy access to the Metro (2 min walk) and to the Latin Quarter (15 min walk). There are several supermarkets, cafes and bistros nearby, and many SE and Far Asian restaurants are only a few minutes walk to the south. A stroll to the Latin Quarter passes up Rue Mouffetard, a narrow street lined with small food and wine shops, cafes and restaurants and allows easy access to the tourist sites in the east of Paris.

The hotel was well worth the price we paid which for Paris standards was quite low. The biggest disadvantage was the noise (traffic plus vicinity of the bathroom of the adjacent room). However, staff was friendly and breakfast served was good value for money. Parking turned out to be free of change over the weekend as we could simple park in the street opposite the hotel. I would recommend the hotel for price-conscious travellers who prefer a location that is close to the centre and well-linked with public transport.

All I really want in a hotel is a clean bathroom to take a hot shower in the morning and a nice warm bed. This hotel had both, so I was happy about it. As a caution, the bathroom is tiny, I'm 161 cm tall and have an average build and could just manage to change in the bathroom with the door closed. If you're a bigger person, you'll need to do this stuff with the door open. The hotel is walking distance from the metro. I would stay here again.

I have been to Paris several times, but this was my first stay at Hotel De la Place des Alpes.I choose the hotel because it was cheap, situated at Place d'Italie and had good ratings at venere.com. If it hadn't been for the lacking spaciousness (rooms, bathrooms, staircase, elevator, diningroom)and the worn down atmosphere especially in the lobby and the staircase, this hotel had been excellent. The owners and employees were so nice, and the guests mostly French people. However, just thinking of a fire was a terrifying exercise....

It's a decent place for the money, given the Paris prices. The room is really small and not particularly appealing (the toilet is the smallest I ever met in a hotel), but the service is not bad. Breakfast can be easily avoided. The position is good, excellent bus and metro connection 5 minutes away. The hotel is placed in a small square away from the traffic.

We stayed three nights at this hotel. There is a very small lift which fits only two people at a time, or one person and there luggage. During our stay the staff consisted of two men and one women. The men were very helpful and nice and spoke English pretty well. The women on the other hand spoke no english and got very frustrated with us when we tried asking her to call us a taxi the next morning. she didn't understand a word we said. If it wasn't for another guest who happened to walk by and help us translate we would have been frustrated ourselves. BEWARE OF THE WOMEN! Besides her, the bedroom, shower & toilet rooms were clean & extremely cute!! We slept pretty well on the beds, the first night was a little ruff but that must have been because it was our first night in Paris! The hotel was RIGHT NEXT to the metro and it made it VERY easy for us to get a round the city. We saw everything we wanted, and never had to take one taxi. There is an amazing Cafe on the corner of the street where the hotel is, and I would highly recommend it. Its called Cafe Bistro. GO THERE, the staff and food are both amazing! Over all I would recommend this place and I would definitely stay there again if I ever get the chance.

I have stayed in quite a few hotels in france, but this one has to be the worst one yet by far. The female on the reception desk was exceptionally rude to us on 2 of the 3 nights that we stayed there and the waitress in the dining room snapped at us and slammed our breakfast down on the table in front of us. The only saving grace in this hotel was the pleasant elderly gent behind the reception desk in a morning. The nasty attitude of the above mentioned females, made our first trip to Paris a miserable experience. We will certainly not be in a great rush to return and would certainly never return to this hotel.
