This hotel is very far from what I have expected after the trip from 3 cities in UK. The room space is small, the hotel stairway interior and the hall on the 1st floor interior quite horror when first time we arrived. But the some of receptionists are very nice, helpful and speak good english. You get what you pay for. Location is great, very close to either Gare du Nord and Gare de L'east. But on our last day in Paris, heard that this area is not quite nice area for tourist. But it was fine for my wife and I.

Was here during a popular time - end of the December - so all the prices in Paris double during this time. It was a nice place to stay for having to go to the airport early in the morning and had good metro access and nice (not expensive) places to eat in the area.

This was the second time to chose this hotel. The first time I got a room with street view, which was not too silent, but still ok. This time I got an extremely tiny room, looking directly at the windows of neighbouring houses, which were also facing the back side of the hotel.

I stayed one night . The pillow cases were dirty ,the mattress was uncomfortable. The toilet flush was broken (surprisely it worked ...) the carpet is old ,there were ashes on the quilt. The corridors are dark and narrow. You have steps to access thelift :not easy with heavy cases... Very expensive for such poor quality I won't return to this hotel!!!

My sister-in-law and I had 2 triple rooms. Whilst my room was quite good for a 2 star hotel her room was appalling. Wallpaper hanging off the walls, a dip in the floorboards entering the bathroom and quite a lot of mildew on the bathroom tiles. The hotel is very central however and as stated a 2-star. The owners were quite helpful with info but a few of the staff didn't seem to have a clue.

The location is very convenient, close to both Gare du Nord and Gare de L'Est which is suitable with our requirement. The Receptionist is helpful and friendly. Though the bathroom is very small but it is ok to us. It's worth with our money !

At 75 Euros a night without breakfast, it was way too much. The room space was ok but without writing space or enough table space to do anything. The closet space is not clean. The bed was slanting to one side. The stairs were also slanting I was scared I would fall down. The direction in the webpage was confusing and not helpful. They should have said it is located opposite the Marche de St. Quentin--or on the same block as Western Union. THAT would be more helpful. The best thing about this hotel was the helpfulness of the two brothers on the day shift. Other than that I think many other hotels in the area closer to the Gare de L'Est would be better and cheaper. Three friends of mine stayed at Francais and the condition was better although the staff was not always helpful. I stayed at Frankfurt for 65 a night with breakfast and the room was much better. The hotel I stayed in Freiburg by the railway station was much better as well--and cheaper (60Euros) with excellent breakfast and spacious room. The hotel in Amsterdam was much better and cheaper with good breakfast too. Moreover there is another Hotel Europe much closer to the station. People there were helpful too--pointing me the way to this hotel when I stopped there first. To be honest I will never stay here again. And I would not recommend this to anyone. It is too expensive for what it gives. I regret spending 2 nights here in the city I love so much.

A very good experience! The room was very spacious relative to other Paris hotel. It's not fancy, but the value for money is great, the location is very good (lots of restaurants around, easy metro access) and I would definitely recommend it to friends.

It is a very simple hotel near the train station of Gare du Nord, the surrouding is not so fancy but the people that was at reception were very nice and friendly and very helpful. The premise is old and very simple but the room has enough space to acommodate a couple.

Plus Points: great location no more than 5 mt walk from Gare du Nord for arrivals by Eurostar, Thalys, RER and metro. But then agsain remember you are never more than 10 to 12 mt walk from a metro station in paris. The hotel staff are very friendly and clean your room daily. and they have an elevator! Minus points: extremely stuffy in the rooms. if you open the wndows lots of bugs ready to bite you and the traffic noise is unbearable. the ownwer told me that we have to blame the weather for my discomfort. in order for me to return to that hotel they will have to at least provide a table fan. 2 stars is very fitiing. I know my kids will not return to this place. as a parent I have to say the whole area was safe and I had no fear coming back at 10:30 or later. lots of good restruants around as well. the owner was reluctantly patient with us to check out when we had to go to the embassy to apply for new passports which were pickpocketed on the metro. so thank you. the early morning and late night staff were extremely helpful!

I have stayed at many 2-star hotels that were much cleaner and more hospitable than De l-Europe... do not book with great expectations and you will not be disappointed. If visiting Paris during the high season, be prepared to sleep on the sixth floor without air conditioning or a fan (we were laughed at by staff when we asked about borrowing a fan for our room). Beyond that, the staff were quite rude on multiple occasions, condasending even (we were also asked not to bring snacks/food back to the room as it was only for sleeping!) Suffice to say, we would not recommend this hotel to friends. There was an abundance of other 2-star hotels in the area that we would have rather booked with. We stayed at a cheaper hotel outside of the city centre and had a more enjoyable experience.

For a hotel in this area at this price, it did everything expected. Only major drawback was the lack of air conditioning or even a fan on what will be the hottest night of the year.

Very nice people, welcoming and considerate. rooms are a bit small but clean enough. We wanted mainly two things: a good location and people willing to answer our questions. We found both. The hotel staff is very friendly. And the location couldn't be better. It's near two train/subway stations from which you can go anywhere in Paris. I would return to this place if I come back to Paris

I stayed in Hotel de l'Europe on 25 May. 2010. This was the last stop of our two week tour of France with my wife and daughter. I chose this hotel because of the proximity to the Gare du Nord station, price, and free internet. Our room was at the top floor (7me etage). The room was clean, bathroom spacious and bright. The bed was a bit firm. The decor was old and simple. The room had a hair dryer. There was no coffee maker, which we would have liked. The internet worked for a while and stopped at 11 pm and it worked again in the morning. The temperature in Paris reached 29 degree C during the day and being at the top floor without A/C made it quite hot. When we opened the windows it was cooler but we had to contend with the noise. The employees were helpful and friendly. They spoke French, English and Japanese (we are Japanese living in the US.) Overall I recommend this hotel, but maybe not during the summer.

A very basic hotel close to major train stations. Not the sort of hotel you'd want to spend much time as the rooms are very small, but perfect for overnight stays when you're on the move. The location is very good, railway station and another subway station is about 3min walking. and 2 supermarket on opsite side of the road. But also since the railway station there, the environment is dirty and unsafe, especially night time. Besides, the manager there is not flexible. We arrived at 12:10 pm, the room is not ready, still under cleaning, he even didn't agree to put our luggage in the room, and made we waited for 1 hour.

We`ve chosen Hotel de l`Europe because of its location. We were coming from Brussels by late train and just needed some place near Gare du Nord. The Hotel is quite nice, but, to my mind, it could be a little bit cheaper. We`ve just stayed there overnight, but can say the walls are not that thick :) Also we couldn`t use the wi-fi internet access, cause the password provided didn`t work, and the night receptionist (very old one, by the way) told us that it`s the same and wasn`t changed, but still couldn`t offer us any help.

Good location, near the Gear de Nord, easy to find. Didn't have breakfast in hotel (8 Eur), but there are so many nice places to eat nearby and two supermarkets and market just opposite the hotel. There are 3 Metro stations very close to hotel, so it's very easy to get anywhere. Also there is bus stop next to hotel ( Rout 30). This bus can take you to the "Moulin Rouge". We had the triple room which was clean with very spacious shower room. I would definitely stay again in this hotel. It good value for the money.

Excellent value for money in expensive Paris (80 EUR for a double room)! Good location for sightseeing as very close to Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est and their Metro stations. Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast is alright (Coffee/tea, croissant, baguette, butter and jam). Our room was a bit noisy though, but we knew the hotel was on busy Boulevard Magenta, so that was no surprise.

My family and i stayed for 3 nights, in 2 twin bed rooms. actually, one was a twin bed room and one was a double with a twin bed added in. the room was clean, the bathroom had hot water and was super clean. only complain i had? the walls are very thin. we could hear almost anything going on in other rooms and in the corridors. Also, the outside of the hotel is quite noisy, but the thick windows did manage to drown out most of the noise.

Very clean room and bathroom, friendly and competent staff. Our room (4th floor) went to the busy street and was therefore a bit noisy - the windows kept out most of the noise, but Paris is a bristling city! We stayed in a double room with a bathroom for 73Euro/night. The bed was tiny. The room was below my expectations. We were in Europe for a month and stayed in several hotel rooms all about the same price range. This hotel room was the smallest and loudest. Every time someone flushes a toilet in another room, you can hear the water running down the walls. You could also hear everyone walking up and down the hallways. Other people closing their doors sounded like they were slamming it! Police cars run down this street several times a day and night which was very loud and annoying when trying to sleep. The website said free internet included and it was 1Euro for 15 minutes which we paid for but after the first day, the internet did not even work. I will not stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The positive aspect of the hotel is that it is within walking distance from Gare de Nord. Despite the fact that we advised hotel of late arrival due to fire in Eurostar tunnel, the receptionist was not very friendly on our arrival and did not move a finger to assist us with our luggage although we are two mature ladies. When the power in our room tripped and we called him for assistance he was most unhelpful and almost rude. Fortunately that was the only time he was at reception. The other receptionists who were on duty the following days, were much more friendly and helpful. Rooms are very small. The hotel is situated within close proximity of 2 hospitals, therefore there is a lot of emergency vehicle traffic causing a lot of noise throughout the night. Hotel rooms were however, clean and beds fairly comfortable. For a short stay in Paris where one is dependant on public transport, the hotel can be recommended.

This hotel was exactly what we needed. It was an easy walk from the Gard du Nord and although the room faced a very busy street, the double glazing kept out 90% of the noise, police and ambulance sirens excepted. The breakfast was good value by Paris standards and the manager laid on transport for us to CDG airport at a very reasonable price. I would not want to stay there for any length of time, but for an overnight stay, it was ideal.

This hotel is perfect for couples traveling without children and who only need the hotel to sleep. The room was very small with a double bed and not much more space than that. The room (including our own bathroom) was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was simple (bread, butter, marmelade, tea/coffe and juice; no buffet) but totally ok for 6 Euro per person. The area is safe and about 15min to the center (e.g. Louvre) by subway. The (English speaking) staff was always very friendly and helpful.

Our family (parents + 3 kids 6 - 9 years) got 2 rooms side by side in a quiet corner to the rear of the hotel. Ours were the only rooms in this part, so it was like having a private suite. From what I remember these rooms were more recently refurbished than the main part of the hotel where I stayed 2 years previously. They were spacious and clean with good storage, comfortable beds and functioning shower and TV. The one downside - I had not anticipated they would charge everyone in the party (children as well as adults), €6 for a rather simple (but good quality) - that added €60 to the bill which was a slightly unpleasant surprise at the end. The first evening we had a lovely family meal in a friendly if slightly eccentric local pizza place - I think it was called the Michaelangelo ? could not describe the location, but worth hunting through the small streets the other side of Bd de Magenta to find it.

It was my first time in Paris, So I was looking for a place close to most of attractions and public transportation. Hotel was situated in city center and easy to find, 5 minuts walk from central station in Paris .We didn't expect much since it was a budget hotel. Our room had a window to the street and it was pretty noisy and warm at night. And there was a lot of small flies in the room, so we had to open the window to be able to sleep. Paris was great but I wouldn't recomand staying at this hotel and generally city center.

I enjoyed this small quaint hotel. All the workers were friendly and the breakfast was excellent in the morning. Yes the rooms were small, but I beleive all rooms in France are! We had a private ensuite room that backed up to the back of the hotel, so the noise factor was not an issue. Our toilet and shower worked with no problems over the 7 days we spent there. We bought a metro pass, and used the metro ,which is very close, throughout the entire stay. I greatly enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

There is nothing like a good welcome and also clear directions as to different 'tourist interests in a city that you are not familiar with. Therefore one can overlook other disadvantages of the hotel - eg. the street is not altogether quiet at night - but bearable. The location is walking distance from the Metro and this also makes it advantageous to the novice traveller.

We found the hotel exactly as described by previous guests and your web pages. It is unfortunate that tobacco smoked over the years has permeated the guest room carpet, but we were forewarned, and since all else - the access to the railway stations, shops, restaurants - were to hand, we would stay there again in the hope that the very able and courteous family hosts will refurbish the carpets when the smoking ban becomes law next February. During a two day stay, we did the Seine cruise, visited Le Conciergerie, walked the boulevardes and had a memorable day at the Palace of Versailles.

Sencillo, pero lo necesario. A un paso de la Gare Du Nord. Limpio, buen bano. La tele se miraba muy mal.

Our stay at the hotel was very good. Excellent location, two minutes walk to Gare D' Nord Station. Room was clean and so was the toilet, warm welcoming and friendly staff. I believe the price is so great with the service you get. Surely it's a hotel to be checked in again.

I was travelling alone therefore the size of the room wasnt particularly important, still for Paris the room size was reasonable. My room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the shower was hot with good water pressure. I found the staff to be extremely pleasant and very helpful. The location is great, close to transport & tourist spots with a supermarche across the street if you want to avoid tourist priced brasseries nearby Gare de Nord. If i looked out from my window to the right i could actually see Sacre Cure nestled up on the hill.

It's a very nice hotel with reasonable pricing. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is situated within 10 min walk from both Gare de Nord and Gare de l'Est, so you might not need a taxi for your luggage, if you come by train. This also gives you very good connections to the city's transport system. Because the hotel is situated on a busy street, I would discourage people who like to leave their windows open during the night from staying there. If you don't have such problems though, I highly recommend the hotel. If you want internet in your room, you should explicitly book a room on the first two floors, because the wireless signal doesn't get much higher than that. Of course, if your room is on a higher floor, you can always sit in the lobby to use the internet. They even have a dedicated computer for the internet with a printer, but you have to pay to use it.

The twin room was tiny. It was fine as a crash (sleep) site but avoid if you desire the slightest hint of luxury in your hotel accommodation.

The hotel was easy to find from the Gare du Nord and the staff could not have been more charming and helpful, even when we arrived late for breakfast - which was, by the way, very good value, given that we were charged €9 for two coffees at a nearby bar, but only €6 per person for the breakfast at the hotel. We could not fault the hotel and would happily stay again.

A family run hotel. The son was very nice however, the father had a rather condescending attitude. The toilet in my room was broken and i had to put on pressure to have my room changed which took a whole day

Ideal for a one night stop over. The room was small and basic, with en suite toilet and shower which although small was clean. Our room over looked the busy main street which wasn't a problem, and I can't say I heard too much noise overnight. The hotel is a short walk from the Gare du Nord railway station, and there are bars, take aways, restuarants, supermarkets and souvenir shops all within a few hundred yards of the front door.Take the number thirty Trocadero bus from the stop outside the hotel, and it will take you past the Arc de Triomphe to the Eiffel tower in about twenty minutes.Breakfast is not included in the price,it must be paid for seperately. The staff we met who were on duty were pleasant and helpful. All in all it was a good stay, especially as Scotland beat France 1-0 at football!

Breakfast 10 euros, fixed amount (not enough for me!) I was forced to leave stroller in the lobby, not to my own room, even though there is no such policy. French is too arrogant, and not polite.

The hotel has a very friendly and helpful staff. Location is great, very near Gare du Nord and lots of places to eat. The tourist spots are very accessible using the Metro.Since it's only a 2 star hotel, the carpet was old and looks dirty. Part of the bathroom wall's paint is also peeling off.

We wanted a place near the Gare du Nord for a one-night stay, and this hotel suited our needs perfectly. No street noise in room, and very quiet once the families in adjacent buildings went to sleep (forthuately, the same time we did). Perfectly satisfied.

It seems little dangerous if I open the window. I'm afraid there'll anyone climbing into my room. So I close the window but there's no air-conditioner. Luckily, it's not too hot and so I feel OK.

The location is brilliant for train travellers, being close to Gare de Nord & Gare de l'Est. Tne windows are excellent for sound-proofing the street noise. One morning (out of 2)the showers were cold. The staff were friendly & obliging & breakfast was good standard.

All as advertised, hotel is conveniently located, very friendly staff, small but clean rooms. All "fit for purpose", affordable. Got a quiet room towards the back. Short walk from Gare du Nord RER (30 minutes to CDG airport), also very quick connection with RER to city center. Neighborhood felt safe, some good food near-by.

It is my first time to travel in Paris, and ON MY OWN! I was very worry about the security of the hotel, however, it is very good actually. My room is very quite except in the morning other customers may talk in the corridor. All the stuffs are very nice and polite. There is a little old dog sometimes lying around THE reception. Do not worry if you are scared of dogs, because it is too lazy to move+ plus it is very cute. The HOTEL is located between Gare du nord et Gare du l'est. If you are first time to this hotel, please ask direction, it may take you longer than you think to get there. There are also many pharmacies shop around in case you need some medicine-- very convenient.

Close to Gare Du Nore station, which is good. The hotel boss is not friendly, not willing to help, when asked for direction, he would say "it is all in the map". While the other two staffs are fine. The location is quite noisy at night.

The Hotel De l'Europe is in a very good location in relation to both Gare de Nord and Gare L'est. It was very clean and the staff were extremely courteous, helpful and frendly. There didn't seem to be an awful lot to do in terms of restaurants, bars etc in the immediate vicinity of the hotel but it was easy enough to get around using the hotel as a base. The immediate surrounding area is much as one might expect from being close to a major station; think Kings Cross in London. It is a very basic hotel and a bit difficult to know whether it represents good value for money or not. If you wanted just a little luxury you would be very disappointed here as it's slightly shabby. That said, for the traveller on a tight budget, perhaps only staying for a night or two it may be ideal.

Comfortable stay - convenient to train and subway. Easy walking distance to some sights and bargain shopping. We had a room on the road side but were not inconvenienced in any way by traffic noise. Would stay again if the price was still right. Note it is not central for main sight seeing attractions.
